Haha, all this rage after these updates. So many of these threads pop up, complaining about some aspect or another.

Guys, I have a news flash. Nothing is going to change! Ask anybody who has been around since early may/late april of last year. If the blast-furnace level rage channeled at OOO didn't make them budge on the most controversial update made in this game during that time, then I seriously doubt this anger will amount to anything.

Calm down, get a cooled drink. Feeling better? Good, remember this is a forums for a video game. Once again, *calm down.*

Entitlement levels on this

Entitlement levels on this forum are amazing. I imagine that if any of the OOO staff shown up in a dark alley past midnight they'd be torn apart by some of the forumgoers.

EDIT: I also find amusing how some people quit to just come back and then quit, come back, an never-ending loop; someone should help them somehow, a ban on computer till they are at least 21 years old (just enough on average to learn self-control) perhaps?

I know you're not mad, it's

I know you're not mad, it's cause you had your chance to do exploits last year. You also told me you were surprised I spent so many hours on Spiral Knights after you viewed my Steam stats. I'm trying to reduce the number of hours I play, so who wouldn't rage? Now everything's all screwed up. It's not like I want people to think I'm leaving, but realistically speaking, the average person will move on, or come back much later and probably more likely less frequent. They probably just want to keep their gear and such. But here comes this update crapping up people's relationships and views of others now. The only thing that we should be legitimately mad about is the millions of crs of profits these guys will be making. The language used in the update were as confusing as legalistic language cause it never specified if there was a cap on uv tickets for me personally. I asked people in zone chat if they were but no one gave an answer or the right one at that. That means I wanted to make the information public.

I personally am not asking for entitlements, I was deliberately kept out of the loop man. Look at the freaking first page of the admin topic, people were confused, some others confusing people as to what unlimited tickets were. If you say it won't affect the market, why don't you let those that didn't exploit the ticket bomb update to get their ce's worth? We're not even asking the rich people to distribute their tickets. What the hell do you mean entitlement? You think leaving us out of the loop isn't called being entitled? I'm sure you're entitled to rip people off and make people buy from you instead of getting it on their own. You did no work and this offers no help. Why make us work more for less if we simply just knew to craft bombs? And please don't say the info from the update is not more vague than the haze bomb one, cause that deserves to be laughed at. But haze bomb or not, there was a chance to profit early on with new Steam unsuspecting Steam players flooding in.

Wiki...lol calling entitled people narcissistic.

Let's replace the word

Let's replace the word entitlement with "Snipe-like," without any offence to Snipes. The definition of the word will be:
In a casual sense, the term "snipe-like" refers to a notion or belief that one (or oneself) is deserving of some particular reward or benefit.

Semantics isn't really a great thing to argue about.

I acknowledge there's a dangerous level of rage.

I acknowledge there's a dangerous level of rage. I even acknowledge that some people are doing this out of unsavory motives like greed, attention-seeking, or the entitlement mentality.

But the fact is, we are right. This update was a punch in the face to anyone who owned and used the Radiant Sun Shards. If someone punched you in the face out of nowhere, most people would tell them "that's not right". What's worse, we did not deserve this particular punch in the face. The Radiant Sun Shards were not overpowered.

Was the RSS really so overpowered when Blitz and an Alchemer could do its jobs better? It was sort of a middle ground between these: Single-target power of the Blitz, and the sniping ability of an Alchemer, with the spread damage of a bomb. Blitz had more damage, and Alchemers, while they had a shorter range (the range of the RSS could have been toned down and we wouldn't have been so up in arms), could fire at distant targets much faster. As for spreading damage, Nitronome and DBB (and now Irontech, since it's better now; that is a good thing) could spread damage to a much wider area. RSS had a little of all of these, making it a sort of "Swiss Army Knife" for bombers. But every one of those other weapons could do the respective job better.

As for Lockdown... Skolver Zombies had trouble dodging? Big deal. Everyone else has to dodge their lightning-speed Flourish attacks, which, in my opinion, is a far more difficult task when done by a Skolver Pro (differs from a Skolver Zombie in that he's really, really good). Less time to react, too. Bombs should deter an enemy's direct approach, and force them to bring out guns; that's just what bombs do. The new Shards don't do that. The new Shards disappear on Capture Points where Nitronome, DBB, and even Dark Retribution don't. The new Shards disappear.

The limitations are downright cruel. Causing all the shards to be ineffective if more than three hit a target? Rewarding stupidity! If an enemy walks over four shards, it's their own dang fault! Disappearing shards are the dumbest thing I've ever seen out of this game- dumber than the Cautery Sword. You heard me. Now, the limitations, combined with the general crappiness of the bomb against multiple targets ("lalalalala, I'll just walk/run/fly/ooze past the shards and kill the dummy bomber") makes a generally useless weapon that doesn't hold a candle to the Blast bombs.

Granted, the value of a 3 UV ticket is very high- 200-thousand-odd crowns! But what does that matter to someone who was never going to bother with UVs in the first place? It would be better to give us the 200-thousand-odd crowns directly, so we could use it to make new gear instead.

And that still doesn't excuse nerfing a weapon that, previously, was the only thing able to keep an entire weapon type caught up against certain enemies and other players. A range decrease? Certainly! Weakened damage, with a 5* SSS that had the same or slightly less damage? We'll take it! But turning it into a completely different (and completely useless) bomb, and ignoring (i don't mean not implementing, I mean not even acknowledging) widely-accepted ideas to make it useful, that won't make it as powerful as Blitz or DA? I don't buy it.

EDIT: I'd like to clarify. The "entitlement mentality", when I use it, is basically the mentality of thinking one deserves everything. That is contrary to my faith and completely self-centered.

I do not feel entitled to 100000 Crystal Energy because the sun shards were nerfed. Nor do many of the dang thing's proponents. The whole 200-thousand-odd crowns thing was about the UV tickets; this is their value, and I was simply asking why we couldn't have the direct value in crowns (or CE, now that I think about it, would lower the stuff's price) instead of the ticket. Nonetheless, the tickets were very nice, and I'm sorry I didn't express my gratitude for this small thing. Might have been the fact that you gave ragecrafters advance warning; that is quite annoying, but I don't hold that against any of the ragecrafters.

I don't even know if we deserve the old Sunshards back, or a usable version of the new Sunshards. I am simply pointing out that it would be a much better decision for the game as a whole to balance the new Shards or bring back the old ones (albeit with a slight range nerf).

I suggest you talk to an actual linguist. Ask them what they think of dictionaries, and the "right" and "wrong" meanings of words.

It's easy to be a language pedant; difficult to be an expert on language. The experts, you will find, have a different way of viewing the matter.

None of you will realise I'm being ironic because you're idiots.

Hey I'm just going to start using words in the opposite sense they're meant to and you're supposed to decode that because I don't need to explain myself and you're just close-minded and don't understand that language changes. I'm right and you're wrong because it's my language and I can mean what I want when I say what I want.

Stop being so entitled to meanings of words, they're just words if you don't like them don't use them. Communication is a privilege not a right. If you don't agree you might as well be committing treason, you narcissistic baby. I mean, people five hundred years ago aren't even relevant now, they're all dead. They haven't done anything for us lately so why should care what the meanings of the words they used back then are? You need to check your entitlement levels.

It's so easy to just sit there and read a book and think that just because something is defined as something that that is what it means, but I mean, you're not an English Major that has invented hundreds of words and wrote their own dictionary, so what do you know about language? Do you even speak English on a regular basis? You're so entitled to your words but I bet you don't even use half of them.

I honestly think you're asking the wrong question when trying to compare the old bomb to a Blitz or Alchemer. I think you're asking the wrong question if you're also asking if the old bomb was overpowered at all. I think the question isn't how the bomb compared to other swords or other guns but how it compared to other bombs.

I went a bit more into it here if you actually care.

Everything must be the same? Sheesh...

I compared it to guns because those guns fill the same roles the RSS did (single-target damage and ranged attack, respectively), but usually better. And I did compare it to Nitronome and DBB as far as spreading damage goes. Balance is a legitimate factor, and if Three Rings wasn't worried about it, I'd be seriously worried.

So the RSS isn't like other bombs. So what? Why must everything be exactly the same, even if being the same makes it suck?

Dorael, I agree that Three Rings only cared (or seemed to care) about how it compared to other bombs. I simply think they were wrong in changing the existing Shard Bombs. The new SSS is bad. It is weak. It is junk. It is not any good as a Fiend killer, which is what Nick claims he meant it to be. Buggy buggy Stun instead of Fire (which would be logical, as they are sun shards), too little range to hit Devilites from any reasonable distance (by the way, they have a ranged attack, puny-range Shards ain't gonna hit 'em), too slow explosions to interrupt Greavers (which, by the way, are the bane of bombers everywhere), not nearly the damage needed to be viable against Trojans (and the fact that it is the ONLY weapon- the ONLY weapon- to make itself do no damage if lined up exceptionally well), and, of course, Abra-cadabra, disappearing shards!

We even came up with ways to make the new Shardbombs useful against Fiends, such as 1 damage while the shards fly (to make a real Greaver-killer for a Bomber, while not making them overpowered) and causing the shards to retain their velocity. Instead, they keep the bombs as they were on the Test Server, despite their agreed-upon uselessness.
