Title of event: Spiral Knights Anniversary Art Contest ( Over 190k Ce In Prizes)

Njpaloozart Fair :P

About this event:

This will be one of the biggest art contests for Spiral Knights. It will focus on drawings, sculptures, and any other type of art - excluding Fan-fics, poems, and any other textual art. I personally hope many players take advantage of this event and will create a lot of amazing art for Spiral Knights.

Why?:

It is simple, I love Spiral Knights art-work. I am not talented in terms of arts. If someone told me to draw a straight line for a 200,000,000 Crystal Energy (lets be honest, life runs on Ce not Dollars, Euros, or the Pound) I would fail.

When:

This contest will be starting right now! As in TODAY! The deadline for last submission(s) is April 4th 2013 *11:59 Pm Eastern Standard Time*. Winners will be posted by April 15th at the latest hopefully. =0

Prizes:
Each category will have the same prizes awarded:

Consolation Prize --- Anyone that enters will receive a barrel belly or 69 Ce!!

Rules:

4. You can enter TWO pieces of work per category.
5. You are allowed to submit to all categories. Although each category must have its own unique work(s).

Judges:
As of right now this contest will only have Two Judges: myself (Njthug) and Digicom. Many of you guys may not know Digi. Since I feel it is unfair to well have only myself judge this contest, and many of the other players in this game who I can work well with are sadly in Eos. I had to try out the next best option a great friend who I trust, and can get along with very well. Oh and importantly someone who is destined to be in Echo of Silence one day.

About Digi --- He is a great guy he plays Spiral Knights for fun many of you might have seen him around with very expensive armor sets. He plays more in the Spanish Servers, and is the founder of a guild called Solo Art. He created a very nice guild hall with his own bare hands, and well honestly this guy is as honest as they come.

We are still looking for more judges, and currently the two others we are eyeing are:

Certain art pieces might be judged by the community as a whole without you knowing it so in a sense players will be picking a few winners.

How to Submit Your Art:
Post in this thread with the following format:

Will your guild members be submitting art work?

Yes, Echo of Silence members can participate in the contest. This contest is open to everyone in Spiral Knights, even Boswick, Ian, Nick, and the famous Cronus can participate. The only player that can not participate is me - Njthug.

Why are you letting your guild members submit artwork?

I want this contest to allow everyone to have fun and be competitive as well. I do not know if the members from Eos will be participating, but I do hope they do since we have a lot of talented artists such as Cobalt, Waffle, Yukaberry, and Mustacheman (2manytoname)!

What type of artwork can I submit?

Anything! It can be handmade artwork, macaroni drawings, a marble statue, a simple drawing on ms paint, or whatever else floats your boat.

THE CATEGORIES!Category 1:

THE CATEGORIES!

Category 1: Favorite Spiral Knight Monster Artwork:

In this category you can draw any Spiral Knight monster you wish. This can be a single monster or a grouping. Monsters can be interacting with knights or monsters as well *Snipes do not count as a monster*

Category 2: Fun in the Clockworks:

Draw your favorite Spiral Knights Clockwork Theme. This artwork must show the clockworks as a background or the whole picture. The theme should be easily noticeable. Feel free to include monsters, knights, or just a special area in the clockworks you find FUN.

Category 3: Player Versus Player Fun:

Draw some crazy artwork that shows off the PvP side of this game. It can be Blast Network or Lockdown based, as long as it's some knight vs knight art action.

Category 4: Create Your Own Monster:

In this category you will be given the opportunity to create your own monster for Spiral Knights. You can create your own class, or add this monster to any existing monster group. Please explain what type of attacks this monster has *Or you can show it* and why you believe it belongs in its monster family *A few sentences is good*.

Category 5: Create the Alpha Squad:

Sadly, we do not have enough information on the Alpha Squad to know of their sexy stylings. So draw what you think the alpha squad looks like. Use your imagination, skills and what we know to make something as sexy as their valor. =0.

Category 6: Spiral Knights Logo:

Lets imagine Nick asked you to design a logo for Spiral Knights. Would you be up for the challenge? Remember this Logo would be seen on their websites, projected on walls, used as a desktop icon (can be slightly edited for this) and might even show up as a flag on Nick's Ferrari's window.

Category 7: Create Your Own Weapon:

Create your own weapon or weapons for Spiral Knights! You can create a single weapon or a whole line of weapons. A line means its Alchemy Path - example: Sealed Sword > Faust > Gran Faust. It is time for you to create your own, gun, bomb, sword, or all three =). When you enter for this please remember to put a short description of the weapon(s) (no more than 5 sentences).

Category 8: Create Your Own Armor Set:

In this category you will be able to create a full armor set for Spiral Knights (Helm, Armor, and Shield). The armor set does not have to be a 5* set. Feel free to add a description describing the armor stats and what bonuses it would have. The armor set itself can be 1 to 12+ Pieces (A few sentences)

Category 9: Create A Comic:

Create a comic related to Spiral Knights! Try to add some humor into this comic as they are meant to be funny!!

Category 10: How Cuteeeee are you?:

Create a piece of spiral knights art that is just SO CUTE you just want to hug the picture!

Category 11: Free-For-All:

Anything goes here. Create whatever you want for Spiral Knights. Let your artist freak flag fly!

Category 12: Create Some Accessories:

So in this category you will be able to create your very own Spiral Knights accessories. Any creations must be added to a knight (So if you create a mustache you must put it on an existing helmet or a helmet or armor design you created) Feel free to create as many accessories as possible for your ultimate armor or helm =)

Category 13: Spiral Knights Merchandise:

Create some Spiral Knights merchandise. Hoodies, jackets, t-shirts, etc. You do not physically have to create it, but you can. Feel free to draw it out or create it using real materials. Remember folks, merchandise can be just about anything. Pencils, erasers, key-chains or even a SK themed jello mold. :P

Category 14: Forum Avatars:

Create some new avatars for all of us to use on the Spiral Knights forums. You can use my avatar as as example or take a look at all the existing ones here to get those ideas flowing! What would your dream avatar be for these forums? Make sure you keep these ideas Spiral Knights related.

Category 15: Favorite Npc:

Create artwork showing your favorite NPC in Spiral Knights. Lets show love to those Strangers, Kozma, Punch, Biscotti, Basil, etc. <69

Category 16: Create a GH Utopia:

In this category you will be creating some new spiral knight guild hall furniture. Then take that furniture and designing a room in a guild hall. So basically create new furniture concepts and place it in a room in using your skills of an artist.

Category 17: The Skylark:

Draw what you think the Skylark looks like =) In it's orbiting, planet scanning glory or in it's current state on Cradle, it doesn't matter. Lets see some freaking SPACESHIPS

Category 18: What do monsters do when we aren't around?:

Create artwork of Spiral Knight monsters random stuff you think they would be doing when we are not around. Example: Jellies fanning the royal jelly king, Gremlins playing table tennis, etc.

Category 19:Draw Njthug or Digicom:

Draw myself or Digicom plain and simple draw or make a sculpture or anything else what looks like our knights *Keep in mind my personal color is yellow and I do not wear wolver gear, and Digicom personal color is blue*.

Category 20:To Be Announced

This category will be announced on March 20th. Digi and myself sat down and really wanted to test your skills so boys and girls be ready for a CRAZY category. Due to the obscene amount of craziness and well the short window of creating a master piece we will be doubling all the prizes for this category only: 1st Place: 8,690 ce, 2nd Place: 6,969ce, and 3rd Place: 4,690ce.

Category 20 --- Spiral Knights Crossovers!!

You will have to create artwork which portrays Spiral Knights in other video games or even real life games (Football, Basketball, Rugby etc.). Digi and I want to see what other video-games or real-life sporting events look like if Spiral Knights was added to them. You will be able to create your own style of crossover if you wish to for example: Marvel vs Capcom (A pretty well known video game) you can create Spiral Knights vs Sega if you desire.

Fifa Spiral Knights Edition (Dress up a knight in an Arsenal outfit?)

2. If for some unforeseen thing like I get hit by a bus and die, I am sure Three Rings can either take the money out of my account, or I Dogrock can pay out of his own pockets *Dogrock will be holding onto the same funds as a safety net, or he probably already has that cash because he is RICH*

@Eury -- Thank You Eury and just a funny tid-bit all of this was put together in about 12 hours or less lol. I worked on the main post got a few great ideas from friends for categories, and well a sexy Moonsoon helped me with a lot of the editing and HTML codes, and ta-da =0.

@Dmatter --- Really matters on the art itself. It is honestly all up to you in terms of coloring it in etc. If you feel the art is amazing in black and white go for it example of some art I found today what is Sk related: http://bechamelsgossip.tumblr.com (The girl knight with the gun) that is a black, gray, and white drawing, but it honestly looks pretty nice.

First off thank you Perronius for that honestly man the more people that know about this contest the better <69

Updates:

1. Added a new judge --- Digicom (Guild Master of Solo Art and amazing friend)
2. Digi added 57k Ce to our pot of Ce for prizes.
3. 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place prizes for each contest is now 1k Ce more (1st Place: 4,069, 2nd place: 3,069, and 3rd place: 2,069)

I tried to make a good sword, but kinda failed...

Catagory: Catagory 7
Title: Vengeance

Vengeance is a 5 star sword that is upgraded from the Ascended Calibur. This sword has the same attack mechanics as the Leviathan Blade, except with shadow damage and a lower chance of multiple hits per charge. It could be a Shadow Lair weapon, possibly with a new update letting weapons be craftable.

Lore: A spiral scientist once decided on crafting a Gran Faust. Putting all the required materials and energy in the crafting machine, he slid out his sword and entered it. Upon hitting the craft button, he realized he had entered his Ascended Calibur into to machine, instead of his Faust. Desperately the scientist tried to stop it, but to no avail. Slowly, a hilt of a blade slipped out of the machine. Pulling it out , the scientist saw it was an evil weapon, capable of causing mass destruction. Immediately the scientist programmed the machine to never be able to craft the evil weapon. Alas, the scientist forgot one small thing: Shadow Lair crafting machines. The sword had resided inside all Shadow Lair crafting machines, awaiting an owner to claim it. To this day, that sword awaits for a knight to wield it.

If you only consider traditional visual art to be art, you should've asked for 2d raster images and not art.

@krakob --- Ah well I misunderstood what type of game you were talking about. If you are designing a game with art, music, sound, etc. Yes it would count towards an entry if you can make it fit into the categories, but if you are talking about giving me a load of text describing a board game or a word search puzzle and count it as art I would have to decline. Digi and myself are looking for art that we can see or well mess around with. If you created a flash animation, youtube video, sculpture, music for Spiral Knights, etc. (Honestly we are not omitting any entry. The only submissions we are not looking for is fanfic, poetry etc. We have nothing against this style of art, but for this competition it is not what we wish to judge). If you can give me an example of the type of art you wish to submit I am sure I can give you precise feedback.

I'm referring to the kind that you'd download in a .zip file and extract so that you can run a .exe file which provides some entertainment. You know, a so called videogame, quite like SK itself, except that it wouldn't have any network interaction, it'd probably not keep you hooked for a few thousand hours and chances are it'd throw a "Made with GameMaker" splash while loading. Maybe one if I work a lot on it, it'll last for at least one hour. Thanks for the clarification and pardon the slight upsetness. I do realise I should've formulated myself more properly in my first post.

So yeah, tomorrow I shall start working then.

@Krakob --- Yes I can see something like that fitting into some of the categories for sure feel free to try it out man I am certain that we will accept it as a form of art work since it is. As far as the program runs I am certain Digi and I both run on Apple, so I would set it up so you can have access to the program using Apple and Windows. No worries man we both see eye to eye we just had a small confusion on the game style you suggested.

A spiral Knights board game would be a pretty neat way to enter something in this contest, but it would need to come with a picture and a set of rules lol.

Ah dang, I can't compile to Mac. I could possibly set up a virtual machine for you, or have a friend compile it to HTML5. I'd probably go for the latter. I could make a gameplay video anyway.

Category 12: Create Some Accessories:

I added in that you can put the accessories on helmet and armor sets you created on your own. I think this will allow players who submit artwork in other categories use their pre-existing submissions to end up creating something magical (yes I used the word magical)!
