Wish Spiral Spy entries have their own seperate category. Kind of unfair for artists who have to draw/sculpt/etc. everything from scratch. In Spiral Spy, the models are already available. All you have to do is pose them and edit the textures a bit. Are Spiral Spy entries even allowed, since the models are OOO property?

As far as spiral spy artwork goes if you want to make the argument one player is stealing components n such from other spiral spy users we could always argue that players who use spiral spy are stealing from Ian, Boswick, and the rest of the Three Rings staff since those files the art work itself was created by them.
Overall we are strict on players who have gotten caught cheating, but using components from SpiralSpy which is free to all the players in this game etc. is way 2 hard to judge if we go down the line x player stole x spiral spy work from x player when in reality the work was created by the Three Rings Staff. So we allow all Spiral Spy artwork we are not going to judge who stole whose components.
*Spiralspy entries are allowed yes since we do view it as art work and does take skill to use Spiral Spy to a certain advance level, but we will be judging all the art work equally we have some amazing digital art, sculptures, hand-drawn, crafted, etc. style of art work*

Hope it's okay to submit multiple pics for 1 weapon, but it's the only way to show what I've really done here with this, cause not only did I make the weapon, I made it WORK (in Spiral Spy at least). The Yumi Blade Bow is literally the epitome of EVERYTHING I've accomplished with Spiral Spy to date. A huge amount of effort went into making this weapon (51 files are used to compose the bow and arrows, and create the character animations for using it), both in the direct making of it and the general accumulation of knowledge of using Spiral Spy I have built up over time (I'm pretty sure I'm still 'the man' when it comes to Spiral Spy). It may not be spiffy, but I've come to view it as been representative of the evolution of the Spiral Spy program and my own abilities.
Some FYI:
The knight wielding it is a custom character named Takahiro, however I designed the bow so that it could be used by a regular knight character in Spiral Spy. I planned to release this a bit later but this contest kinda snuck up on me so I'm unveiling it now. I hope to add a quiver eventually and am trying to come up with a reloading animation/pose for the bow. I do plan to eventually post this for download when I have everything ready for it.

Have you ever tried making something truly unique with Spiral Spy? It takes quite a bit of time and know how about the program to make a lot of the things that I have done, while the models and textures might already exist it has taken me a long time and plenty of effort to get to the point that I am at now. It could take a number of hours and sometimes days to make some the best creations I have done, if you think its so easy please go and create something that doesn't exist in game, including any required custom particle effects, animations, texturing, modified models, partial models, material settings, custom material configurations, scaling adjustment transformations, and parameter settings needed to make it work and get back to me when your done.

If that bloody bow and arrow of yours doesn't win 1st place in the custom weapon category I'll be quite surprised. Here I was feeling pretty proud of my chainswords, and then something like that comes along and blows my piece right out of the water. Phooey.
I guess I'll really have to look into Spiral Spy, so far all I've used it for is for is to get good screens of the individual weapon models so I can have accurate references for my pixel work. From the looks of it, the program is capable of so much more.

Diggur is a weird mole hybrid thing fused with a mineral on it's back and loves to eat minerals. It belongs in the Beast family because it has sharp claws for tearing through the ground as well as knights and is pretty fat and fluffy. It can't really see things but has a great sense of smell and hearing to help them lock onto their enemies with their somewhat speedy movements. Its weak spot is the large mineral on it's back. (Kind of like a Trojan)
Diggur would randomly appear in mineral rooms when knights enter them and try to devour some minerals. When in combat it is medium in speed and it uses it's claws in slashing and jab movements, it also sometimes hides for a small amount of time by burrowing with the mineral on it's back sticking out of the ground and will later resurface, when struck it will reflect some damage back to knights.
Lastly when it chomps down a part of a mineral it will alter appearance wise and to a status condition based on the color of the mineral. (Crimsonite = Chance of Inflicting Fire Status Condition upon attack) If knights don't bother Diggur it'll just eat a good chunk of minerals and leave the area tunnel style, also if all knights remain downed for a period of time after awhile he'll leave the area.
I good at names so clever... x) I don't color that well either but it was nice to for once!
P.S. I mixed up the Yellow mineral and the Green Mineral as I was coloring so they should actually be switched color wise on the respective Diggur's back >.<

I based this monster on the mythical monster Cerberus which is the guard dog of Hades and the underworld.
Well I thought hmm... Hades has a pet, why doesn't Vanaduke have one. They both are rulers of the underground why not.
Also it has the color scheme of a flame wolver and has magma burns like it too.
My idea for it is that it could be in a mission right before fsc as a mini-boss or in fsc itself.
Attacks:
Like bosses it attacks in Phases.
Phase one:
All 3 heads are chained to a locked gate which wont open till hes defeated. He will have 2 attacks, one is a roar which calls out a wave of flame/normal wolvers. He is invincible until he roars. After he roars there will be a time limit to when hes is vunerable. His 2nd attack is firing fireballs but he cant use them during his vulnerability.
Phase 2:
The chains on the 2 side heads break. It has the previous attacks but it can defend itself sometimes with the 2 side heads biting you and inflicting fire status.
Phase 3:
All chains will break and he can move freely. He is no longer invincible like in the last 2 phases. But he can spawn shadow fire and alpha flame wolvers. A new attack he can do is a howl which will knock back any knight in range. Also it will raise his attack power temporarily. When he is near 0 health he will light his whole body on fire for 5-10 seconds and do dash attacks. While on fire he can not be injured but can be dowsed with water.

It's the mod that brings Spiral Knights to Skyrim! Just in case you don't own Skyrim, I've provided a fair amount of screenshots. I've also provided an image of each custom mesh (all meshes made by me, none taken from anywhere else) and a wire-frame image!
This mod adds a new quest to Skyrim in which you can obtain Spiral Knights loot.
You'll have to mind the terrible sound effect if you download the mod.....

Credit card? How does having or not having a credit card make a difference? Happyapathy made what's probably one of the best custom weapons I've ever seen, and he did it with Spiral Spy, a free program. I drew my submission up with Microsoft Paint. Some people may have access to fancy (and expensive) art programs like Photoshop, but you can do many of the same things Photoshop does with GIMP, another free program.
My point is, you don't need money to make a winning entry, just the skill and determination to make something awesome.

Sorry for popping in here randomly but I had that issue too before when I didn't have a credit card x) Some stores like Target, Gamestop etc. Sell these Ultimate Game Cards that you can use to buy C.E on Spiral Knights I think if you look in the forums someone had the how to instructions.
I think it only comes in 10$ or 20$ though which would be kinda a problem if you just wanted to buy a smaller amount.
Now you can go broke with cash! :D Like I did for awhile.... >_> <_<
By the way it was a very fun contest :D nice seeing all the cool artworks and ideas out there and it got me to be productive for a small time haha.

Fsteak, in terms of cards for in-game use, I prefer prepaid gift cards from Wal Mart. I register them up with paypal and pay that way.
Alternate-Dragon, if you want some advice, I'll let you in on a little secret. You don't need to buy a single bit of C.E. to get by. If you plan on spending any real money in Spiral Knights, you need only do it with one thing: The Elevator Pass. Removing the energy cost for the lifts make all the difference in the world, trust me. Given, it only lasts one month, but with the first pass I bought I went from just starting my 3* gear to finishing my 5* gear. Hope that helps.

Wouldn't you find it unfair if I took one of SK's official artwork, edited it heavily in Photoshop to make it "totally unique" then submit it as a contest entry?
Ive seen your Spiral Spy creations and they all look great but you're depending too much on the game models. Why not just use a 3D modeling software like Blender and make completely original models and designs. That way you're not limited to just pasting around SK's gears.

By your line of reasoning, Captain-No-Pants, if I were to take some Lego bricks and build something out of them, nothing I made would be original because I used Lego bricks, someone else's parts and materials, instead of molding and casting my own. Sounds kinda silly when I put it that way, huh?
If that’s not enough, answer me this: If making something in Spiral Spy takes no skill or effort, can YOU do what Happyapathy did? Can YOU make something like his submission? I know I can’t, that’s why I’m impressed with his work, but can YOU? If the answer is yes, then why didn’t you submit that? If the answer is no, than I do believe this debate is over, my friend.

You think what I do is simply some 'heavy photoshoping' like act? You have no idea what how different the things I make are from what is used in game and how much time, effort, and innovating I have had to do to make the whole scene you see there, its not taking an existing picture and just doing a bit of photoshoping, its tearing down a house a using the pieces to build a completely new one, and not just the facade, I mean the plumbing, electrical, gas mains, you name it.
What your seeing is only the final visual result, what you can't see is the ton of background work that goes into making a seen like that. I take existing models and often completely overhaul their internal model parameters in a sort of pseudo-coding to make them easier to manipulate in Spiral Spy, I add loops and speed control parameters to animations and FX's so I can control them, I have to create scaling adjustment files to re-size existing objects to what I need, some of those poses you see don't exist in game, I have to MAKE THEM, some of those FX's don't work the way I want if they are just simply dumped into the scene, I have to dig into their file settings and change them so they do.
You think what I do is all visual? Just grab existing models, hack them to pieces and glue them together? I often have to dig into the file and edit its settings to get what I want, the things I need often DON'T EXIST and I have had to figure out how to navigate the internal workings of the game files to create what I need. The visual work (a.k.a. "Heavy photoshoping") is only the last step of a long process so don't tell me I'm simply copy and pasting what has already been made, cause while the models might already be found in game a lot of what goes on behind the scene I had to come up with, so please stop talking like what I've done lacks original work on my part cause it does, you just can't see most of it.

I'm not accusing pretzel, who is a good buddy of mine, of plagiarism, I'm glad to see the things I put up for download being used as that is the whole purpose of putting them up (If I was worried every model texture would have a little copyright sign somewhere :P). I also personally instructed him over steam chat on how to create those weapons he made.
Custom weapons made in Spiral Spy essentially ARE just edited models of something that already exists, or at least bits and pieces of them, for example:

What your looking at is a collection of pieces mostly from blasters and autoguns that I retextured then joined together to make this:
Weapon featured in my ongoing comic which I REAALLLLYYY should submit to a contest someday (but not today)
I've almost got something ready at the moment, I was thinking about making a compilation of all the custom weapons I've ever made (which would be A LOT) but there was no way I could show them all in 1 picture in a satisfactory manner, instead I think I will take this chance to show something off I've been working on for the last little while.
