I did Top! Where's the chapters!
I'll send a application if no-one does...... *bored*
I thought Top was SR-117?
Anyway, if nobody applies for a normal Knight position within four hours, I'll make a character myself or edit the story a little.
@Spiral-Knight-Kid: I changed your researcher's name to Dr. Vitro, I hope you don't mind ^^
All characters not explicitly included in this chapter (meaning characters that have been mentioned only) will be in the next one.
Oh, and I'm deciding to put the regular Knight off until the next chapter. Meaning that you can apply now. If you've applied once or twice before, please let someone else do it. If nobody else applies, then I'll open up applications for everyone who's applied at least once.
Chapter 6 - Rebuild
Looking up at the sun, I relished the cool air against my skin for what felt like the first time in my life. Sensing a movement from something else in the room, I looked to the right. There was another Wolver, but his fur was jet black, just like mine was, but something was off. He didn't seem to have any thorns. He seemed to have been a subject too, as his fur was matted with the slimy green fluid, and there was a nest of glass and twisted metal around him He was picking him up the floor and shaking himself off. There seemed to be another one, but my vision was too blurry from the liquid getting in my eyes.
"What... is this place?", he mumbled to himself, uneasily as if expecting something to come out an attack him.
"I think it's a laboratory", I replied to him, causing him to spin around and growl in defense.
"Who are you?!", he barked defensively. I was taken aback a little by his reaction, as I expected him to be some kind of timid creature.
"I am...", I start, but then realize something. What is my name I don't know my name. Who am I?
"I don't know", I eventually answer. He seemed confused and offended.
"Whatever. I'm getting out of this place, whatever it is." He bounded off through the rubble of the test chamber, climbing up out of the hole made by an explosion. I should probably get going too, there’s no doubt that the Knights will come around soon... I followed suit, climbing out of the rubble with some difficulty and making it up on to the street. Knights were sprawled everywhere on the ground, some even with missing limbs, blown off by the explosion. Fires had broken out, filling the sky with smoke. I was a little surprised that the Knights could be easily attacked like this. I quickly darted into an alley, avoiding any Knights that could have recovered already.
Now... where is the Arcade?
[Lyra’s Perspective]
I looked up from under my desk, seeing that the only damages was some drywall coming off the ceiling. I sigh in relief, silently checking around to see if everyone was okay. It seems the answer to that was yes. I clean up the area around me.
“Check on all the rooms! Oh, and make sure Dr. Vitro is alright!”, I yell to an intern across the way. He nods his head and frantically runs off. Vitro was one of the head researchers here, and while I would have gladly given him a lobotomy if that would changed his attitude, he was critical to almost all research operations in the lab.
“What was that?”, I wonder out loud, reflecting on the massive r
“I’m going outside to see the damage, everyone. You guys stay here”, I instruct my research group. Thankfully the exit isn’t blocked, but when I step outside, I see a land of chaos. The air is stagnant, and the smell of smoke and bodies overwhelms me.
“What in the world happened?!”
I wonder... is Vin alright?
[Polar-XI’s Perspective]
It was all too satisfying gazing at the ruined landscape.
“Those Gremlin missiles really pack a punch”, I murmur to myself, recalling the deal I made with those furry... things.
I look towards the laboratory, which seems to have taken quite a hit. I used to shudder when I saw it, reminded of the experiments that were done on me, but seeing it partially in ruins was relieving. I flew closer to inspect the damage, and was disappointed to find out that only the West side and the basement were affected. There were some test subjects streaming out, most of them either Wolvers or Gremlins, with the occasional Chromalisk mixed in.
I grab the transmitter given to me by Seerus, the one in charge of the attack, and turn it on.
*krrch* Polar reporting from the scene. Attack relatively successful, a hell of a lot of damage done to Haven too! *krrch*
*krrch* Gehehe... So it was a success...
[Vin's Perspective - 2 months later]
"So, you understand how the Laboratory was damaged?", Feron asked me.
"Yes, sir. I was informed that the West Wing was affected, as well as the basement. Test subjects have escaped, am I correct?"
"That is correct, but there are two you should be concentrating on. In the basement, there are three Test Subjects that have been experimented on intensively for the better of Haven, and two out of these subjects have escaped. The third is still in suspension. These escapees look like this." He showed me a photo of two Wolvers with pitch black fur, one with a series of spikes on its back, and the other without any. SR-100 was under the first one, and SR-117 was under the second.
"Your task is to hunt these down, and bring them back to Spiral HQ. It is imperative that you do so without failure."
"Is there any information on where they are now?", I ask.
"They're most likely in Haven at the moment, the elevators in the Arcade have been disabled. Oh, and if you're leaving now, take these pictures with you.
I salute, and leave the office, taking the pictures with them.
"SR-100 and SR-117, huh. They look like little Snarbolaxes."
YAY new chapter
the name doesnt really matter so im fine with it
Awesome! Remember, Sr-117 wants to be friends with Sr-100 but he doesn't trusts her. Only if she makes the first move to be friends, then will SR-117 be friends with her.
Yup, you got it smack-dab on the spot. Love them and love them.
And a bump.
Applications for the Normal Knight are still open.
I may even allow two...
Sorry I haven't replied for three days, I've been busy doing other stuff and while I could seem to write for Finder's Keepers, I don't have time to concentrate on any chapters, which is what I would like to do.
I should start work relatively soon.
Sorry for all the late chappies, been on a road trip. I made it a little longer than usual to compensate. I'll probably fix it up later, I'm on my phone now. Enjoy.
EDIT: I fixed it a little, it should be somewhat easier to read :D
Chapter 7 - Reacquaint
[Lyra's Perspective]
I was in the middle of work when my Pager started buzzing.
It better not be V-
It was Vin. Great. Nonetheless, I tapped the screen, answering him.
"Hey Vin... what do you need? I'm at work right now", I said into the phone.
"Hey, you wanna come have a drink with me tonight, Lyra?", Vin asked me in return.
"U-um... Sure, I guess...", I responded nervously. "Where were you thinking?"
"Just meet me in Haven Square and I'll tell you."
"A-alright", I stammered out.
"Great~! See you later, Sugar."
"DON'T YOU CALL ME SUGAR YOU LITTLE SON OF A-"
I then realized my entire research group was staring at me.
"S-sorry, I just got a little worked up. Carry on."
I checked my phone to see if Vin was still there, but he had hung up already. I flopped down into a chair and buried my face in my hands out of embarrasment.
Why do I always act like this?!
---
After work, I headed over to the fountain, where Vin was waiting.
"Hey, I decided to bring some sodas instead", he said, holding up two bottles of Callahan Cola.
"Thanks, I could use a drink", I murmured, twisting a bottle open.
Just stay calm, Lyra. You don't want to embarrass yourself.
"Long day?"
I nodded.
"So, what did you need exactly?", I asked him after I had taken a swig.
"Well, not too long ago, I was given a mission by Feron to find some... important test subjects from your laboratory."
"Vin, can't you be specific? How am I supposed to know which ones you're looking for? And why do yo-"
"Geez, calm down Lyra. No need to get so worked up."
Argh, I'm doing it again.
"Anyway, I believe they were named SR-100 and SR-117", he said, chugging down the rest of his Callahan Cola.
"Oh, the Mini Snarbolaxes. Well, what do you need to know?", I asked him.
He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened his eyes and asked, "How do they behave? I'm apparently supposed to hunt them down."
"I can't really answer that question, my group didn't do that project. You should know that if I was doing an important project like that I would have told you. Come on Vin, try to be more-"
"Lyra, for Skolver's sake, stop getting so exasperated!" He tilted his head with a worried expression on his face.
"Maybe you're a little tired?"
"Y-yeah... you're probably right... I don't know much about that project, but I can ask Dr. Vitro for you."
"That would be a great help!", he responded, smiling. "See you around." He got up and walked away, tossing the empty soda bottle in the trash can.
I waved back at him, now alone on the fountain steps.
Well, at least I didn't slap him in public.
[Dr. Vitro's Perspective]
Another day in this laboratory. I was still mad about the fact that my creations, MY CREATIONS, had escaped in that missile attack. Those two... SR-100 and SR-117 was it? I had made the theories and solutions and compounds to make them, and now they had gone off and escaped. What was worse was that the abilities we had given them were enough to take out a Squad with ease. What a nightmare.
"Dr. Vitro, sir?"
Annoyed from being distracted from my work, I flung an empty vial at the Researcher behind me. He fearfully jumped out of the way, the vial harmlessly shattering on the floor behind him.
"S-s-sir, I just came here to ask a question...", the Knight stammered, shivering out of fear.
"Oh. Well come on sonny, speak up. What's yer question?"
"Dr. Lyra just wanted to know the behavioral patterns of SR-100 and SR-117", he said, straightening his posture.
"Tell her I'll send a message her way by the end of the day."
"Yes, sir." The Knight left the room.
I sighed, powering up the messaging system, and began typing up a report for Lyra.
I should stop throwing vials at people.
[SR-100's Perspective]
I wasn't sure how long I had been skulking in the alleyways of Haven, but it was definitely a while since I escaped. Since then, I've been hiding in the streets, trying not to be seen by any Knights.
I wonder where that other Wolver went.
Laying in one of the gardens, I gazed up in the starry sky, thinking about what to do next. It was impossible to get into the Arcade, as the elevators to the Clockworks closed at night and during the day, there were too many Knights around.
"Hey. Psst!" I heard a voice not too far from where I was resting. Thankfully it was another Beast.
"Who is it?", I answered. The bushes rustled, and the Wolver I had met upon escaping jumped through the foliage.
"You seem really clueless, don't you?", he said disgustedly.
"Hey! I-", I answer indignantly, only to be interrupted by him.
"Whatever, at least you've survived this long. If you don't want to be here any longer, I know a service elevator you can use to get pretty much anywhere in the Clockworks."
"Really?! Where?!"
"I'll tell you, since if you tag along you'll probably slow me down."
"Okay, you little sh-", I snarl at him, only to be interrupted again.
"Can you be a little nicer? I'm trying to help you."
I sigh.
"So where is it?", I ask him.
"Go to Haven's south border and turn left. When you get to the first house. Push on the wall closest to you, and it should open."
"And how did you figure this out?", I asked him.
"I actually looked. Unlike you."
I grumbled, annoyed from his demeanor.
"Thanks", I growled, running off.
I probably should have been a little nicer...
---
Eventually, I found the Service Elevator, after walking down a long tunnel. I pawed a button, and a number of other buttons lit up, with writing and pictures. Even though I couldn't read the options, I could see the pictures. There was one that looked particularly appealing. It was a lush green plain, with trees and grasses. A perfect place for a Wolver. I jumped up and tried to hit the button, but something bad happened. I missed, and instead hit the button with the picture of a graveyard. Oh no. Gates shot up around the edges of the elevator, and it rumbled, starting its slow descent. As it sped down, I struggled to keep my balance, both out of fear and the elevator jostling around.
Any Beast who ventures in a Graveyard usually doesn't return.
Villains don't have to be evil all the time. They have lives too!
Yeah, they have lives. Going to the supermarket with an plastic bag saying, "I'm a super-villain supporting the environment!"
As of right now, I may have to close this story for a while.
People are oblivious to the fact to the world is ending.
Right now, I discovered that I can save the world, but in order to do so...
I must go into a deep sleep.
Leniency against the problem is not a choice, so I have to do it soon.
For the world to be saved, I have to sleep for about five years.
Only if I do that, will the world be saved.
Otherwise, we will all go up in flames.
Look back at this thread in five years, I already have a chapter written up for that time.
Saying goodbye is hard, but I must.
Also, if you read the first letters of every sentence vertically, you'll find a special message for all of you.
Keeping this alive among the sea of threads and poor excuses for fanficts.
I now regret making that awful April Fools' joke ;_;
Buuut thanks for the complimentary bump :D
Aekuryi is already one of my favorite writers, mainly for the fact that his execution of dialogue between characters isn't flat nor melodramatic.
For that, I am going to BUMP this every time this gets swallowed by another mass of fanficts.
On top of that, he didn't need much improvement grammar and writing-wise, something rare for more and more writers here.
It turns out that the time frame of 7 hours is already enough to swallow this fanfict. STAYING ALIVE!
Arcsolus as well as a bunch of new writers for swallowing this story. Keeping this alive, again.
I will probably write a new chapter sometime today, right now I dun feel like doing anything
And thanks for the bumps :D
If you could, try to make him a bit like V from V for Vendetta.
Name: V
Gender: Male
Species: Knight
Personality: Has been treated wrongly so many times in life, beaten, scarred, burned-experimented on. He was tortured and tested, and now the only thing he can feel is hate. He is sadistic, a ruthless killer, and from being experimented on has inhuman stamina and strength, can rip the arms of a man with his bare hands. He is looking to take revenge on all the scientists in this place, and then he'll test them.
Weapons/Abilities: He can teleport and move extremely fast. His punch is like being hit with a boulder. The scientists must keep him in a high security isolation cell since he can wreck his way out of a standard cell. He wears a mask that was burned to his face (by himself for unknown reasons) and a black proto armor with a black cape (or wings if you prefer). As a test subject, he still wears the mask, but rags instead of real clothes.
Bio/History: He was kidnapped by the scientists to test out the Replica Project (May I suggest that this is a project to making a self cloning supersoldier?) and is a failed subject. Instead, he gained speed and teleportation, along with inhuman strength and stamina. He has a voice that sounds like it's a thousand years old, and is frequently causing disorder.
Name: Statheus
Gender: Male
Species: Knight
Bio: Statheus had been left in the forest as a kid. Ever since then, he had been attacked by monsters numerous times, and nearly died, if it hadn't been for a knight medic who had found his unconscious body by a riverbank. Since then, Statheus had been taught basic survival skills, and had been taught basic medical skills as well. Once he grew up, he moved out of the medic's house, and lived in an apartment in Haven. Afterwards, he joined the Spiral Order, and is now currently a Knight Elite.
Personality: Grim. Has an extreme aggro when it comes to dealing with monsters such as kats, wolvers, and chromalisks. Enjoys torturing woodland creatures. Does not talk or socialize much. LOVES BOMBS. Likes to eat meat.
Abilities: Can run especially fast.
Loadout: Blitz Needle,Voltedge,Argent Peacemaker, Crap ton of bombs. Horned Owlite shield
Looks: Ash Tail cap and coat
A belt of bombs slug around le shoulder
Backpack made out of Wolver skin
Bumpity bumpty boomp.
BUMPING THIS!
Looking forward to see SR-117 in action.
Bumpity
Also, does this take place before or after Operation Crimson Hammer?
Sorry if I'm swallowing this post, I just want people to enjoy my work, but I guess you want that too.
This takes place at an unknown time, but a long time before Battle Sprites are created.
Also, chapter probably coming today depending on how I feel :S
V and Statheus are accepted.
Bump bump bump bump keeping alive keeping alive bump bump bump bump
KEEPING ALIVE!!!!
Sorry for the wait folks. If you just applied, I'll introduce your characters in the next chapter. It's a little difficult placing everyone in the story, hehe.
Chapter 8 - Retaliate
[SR-100’s Perspective]
The elevator rumbled to a stop as it reached the graveyard. The air was filled with the stench of decaying bodies and dirt. Eurgh. I readied my spikes in case any zombies came out and attacked me. They felt like extra arms, but there was something else about them. Looking back up at them, I tried changing their shape. They rippled, as if water, then reformed into a thin, blade like thorn. This is cool... I was now a lot more confident about getting through the graveyard if I had my thorns ready. Just as I got off the elevator, it shot up again, towards the surface. That’s weird... nobody else should be coming this way any time soon... I put my suspicions aside and started walking forward. There were graves in every room, and I took extra care not to step on any of the graves, lest I awaken the undead. Suddenly, I heard a digging and collapsing of dirt from one of the graves. I look back, and I see a zombie come out of the ground, its blank stare directed straight towards me. I slice off its head with one of my blades, but more rise up. Running towards one of them, I latch on to his head and rip it off, using my thorn-blades to decapitate another one. That’s not the last of them. Several more come out of their graves, and I spin around, lobbing a flurry of thorns at them. I manage to destroy a couple of them, and I charge into the rest, knocking three of them down at once and stabbing their cores with a thorn. Before any more of them can rise up, I run off, seeking the elevator. I merge the small blades into a big one as I’m running, slicing the heads off of a few more. I hear a Phantom cry in the distance. I run faster, trying to find the elevator. The maze of graves and mausoleums are endless, and the Phantom eventually catches up with me. I separate my thornblades, parrying one of his strikes in time. However, he jumps around me, slashing at my side. I jump out of the way and attempt to lacerate his ghost-like body. I get a few cuts in, but he shakes it off, dashing around to the side faster than I can react. He manages to slash my back leg, causing me to howl in pain. Enraged, I merge my blades again and turn them into a massive hammer, sweeping him to the side and stunning him. I change the hammer into a sword, bringing it down on him. I hear a small squelch, and all that’s left is a purple, shimmering Phantom core, waiting to regenerate. I limp around the corner, and I see the elevator in sight. Looking back at my wound, I notice that purple blood is flowing out, and the surrounding flesh is blackened. The cut stings quite a bit, but I manage to make it to the elevator block. The world starts warping around me. W-what’s going on... My legs are unsteady, and I collapse to the ground. That Phantom’s sword... it had poison on it. How could I be so careless? The world turns dark, and I pass out.
[SR-117’s Perspective - A Few Hours Ago]
I look around the corner to where that other Wolver girl went. She’s standing on her hind legs, pawing at the service elevator buttons. I cloak myself, and creep slowly to where she is. It seems that she’s activated it... and is currently jumping up, trying to press one of the buttons. I creep closer, still invisible. I focus my eyes, and see she’s trying to press the Aurora Isles button. Sigh... well, no wonder. I sit down on my haunches, staring at her futile attempts to press the button. I hear a small click, then a rumble, and look up. One of the buttons is lit up, but something’s wrong. I focus my eyes again, and see the Graveyard button lit up. Crap... it’s nighttime and she’s going to the graveyard. The elevator rumbles down, and I see her panicked stare as I look down the shaft. In that moment, I decided to go down as well. Normally, I would just leave her for dead, but for some reason... gah! My brain is a mess right now. I eventually decided to follow her down. I kind of needed help escaping the Enforcers anyway. I pressed the call button on the front of the gate, and it lit up, blinking. It must still be going down... Eventually, it stopped blinking, and within minutes the elevator returned. I hopped on to it, and jumped, hitting the Graveyard button with accuracy I still pride myself on today. The elevator shook, and started its descent.
---
The elevator slows down, and arrives at the Graveyard with a rumble. I quickly cloak myself before any zombies rise up. Gazing at my surroundings, I notice a trail of paw prints leading through the graveyard, probably that Wolver girl’s. I tentatively walk forward, looking around for any other signs. Up ahead, there’s a bunch of bones and zombie heads scattered about. She’s pretty good... Staying close to the walls, I manage not to awake any zombies as I follow her paw prints. Or maybe all the zombies were killed. Who knows. I notice a Phantom lurking around, probably looking for something. That’s right... Phantoms’ swords have poison on them this time of year. I was just reminded of that fact, and I start rushing a little. I eventually find her, collapsed by the elevator, with dark blood coming out of a slash wound on her leg. I sigh. And she was stupid enough to get attacked by a Phantom. I drag her by the scruff of her neck to the elevator. Apparently the next level was the Aurora Isles. When she woke up, she would be happy about that, but she’ll probably be too woozy from the Phantom Poison.
[Polar-14’s Perspective]
“It seems I made a good choice in trusting you”, I said, smirking, to the Warmaster of the Gremlin colony. He bowed profusely.
“Yessss... you did indeed... about payment...”, he hissed, looking up at me with one red eye.
“I said I will pay you within one cycle. It has not been one cycle yet, has it? So why are you asking for payment now?” How annoying. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone through with the plan.
“M-my apologies... but we need the money to reach the tax for this cycle within five days. Tinkinzar demands it.”
“I said that I will give you the money within one cycle. No questions asked. I don’t want to think that I made a mistake trusting you.” I start walking away.
“B-but sir!” I turn around and stab him in the arm with my Chaos Blade. He immediately clutches the wound. I look into his eyes, and I see intense fear. As to be expected.
“You will have the money within one cycle. Understood?”
He meekly nodded, his eyes wide. I turn around, and take a small ring out of my pocket. I put it on my finger, and close my eyes. I feel a huge jolt of energy, and I open my eyes, looking around at the ravaged landscape. Islands hang suspended over an abyss, and the Devil’s Castle is in front of me. I sigh, and start walking towards the castle. I’m back in the underworld.
Clap clap, well done! It adds to the realism of a being journeying through the Clockworks, not just as a game character: As a real, living thing.
Great chapter! It was nice to see SR-177 in action and how Sr-100 fought in combat. I guess phantoms don't like her.
tecchhno want a cookie while u wait? =D
----> {: : :}
I'll edit the main post to say that I might ask for the name to be changed.
Also, this is the millionth time saying this, but if you're considering to apply for a normal Knight position, do it now because I'm finishing the chapter soon.
