Yttriu is right ... it says in the game post that the first one goes up on June 1.
Tev's Great Big Contest 2.0: Seasons of Cradle - Results are in!
Wait a second..........I'm still not quite sure about this "season" theme :P So........how exactly does it work? XD
Make your entry ... your art or poem or whatever ... involve a season of some sort. Any season. Doesn't matter which. It could be a poem about winter. Maybe it only briefly mentions spring. Maybe a short story takes place during a holiday. Maybe you're drawing a picture of Wolvers frolicking in falling autumn leaves, or you insist on a "my knight holding their weapon looking awesome" picture, but your knight is all dressed in Frosty gear. If you're wanting to go less literal, you could use the theme "hunting season" or if you were in the mood for writing romance, mating season (if you could manage to keep it clean) or run off into left field and use "the season of our discontent".
So yeah. As long as you manage to do that somewhere, you're good. If I'm looking at your entry and can't find a season reference, I'll ask you to make sure I'm not just missing it, but entries without it (other than special categories, which are exempt) won't be accepted.
First, I must say thanks again!
Second, 3 contests back to back to back (Nj, Td, yours)...you guys really keep me busy XD
Third, there is an error in post #3
"*Equipping the knights you draw or write about with weapons and armor that equate so a specific season to you." I believe "so" should be "to". :)
and post #6
"Poetry in this category can rhyme, but do not need to, and can be in any format." Since poetry is technically singular, I think "do" should be "does".
^not 100%, but I am at least pretty sure...and yes, go ahead everyone post all my errors on this response because I am being critical XD.
Anyways, we can enter 3 pieces in art and 3 pieces in fiction right? However, the special categories do not count. Therefore, we can enter all the fiction categories but must omit from two art categories. Also, the first two art categories are pretty much the same. Are we to enter in the one we feel fits our ability best? Can we enter in both the junior and regular? Or...maybe we just type "ENTRY (Character Drawings and Paintings)" and you pick whether we are junior (like me) or not :P. This last portion is all a big question to see how many pieces I will be creating.
Lastly, thanks again for doing this, look forward to it!
Yeah, I noticed the to/do earlier today and forgot to fix it. I'll ... fix it when I get around to it. XD And "poetry" is actually both singular and plural. XD
As far as the "drawings and paintings" vs "junior drawings and paintings" ... enter the one which you feel best represents your ability and/or level of effort; I will not choose for you. The only time I'd change someone's entry was if they entered the Junior category with something that clearly should not be there in order to gain an unfair advantage.
Yes, though, you may enter in both the Junior and the regular drawings and paintings category, as long as your entry fits the category. (I.e. Don't make two fully-rendered paintings and enter one in each; you could enter your best piece in the regular category and a sketch in the other category).
Just 12 days to Christm-ahem, I mean before entries are open for submitting. Just a note. Unless you live in some other timezone than EST
Tev you forgot to give the feedback for the things last contest.... xD
But it`s okay... :3
Oy! I did, didn't I? I think that the holidays kept me super busy, and by the time I had some time to sit down, re-read stories, and pick them apart, I had forgotten who wanted it.
If you DO plan on making a choose your story type of short, then I suggest making it here:
chooseyourstory.com
OR
infinite-story.com
The ^above^ two websites have pretty clear systems, and it's a lot cleaner than making a clicky-clicky site yourself.
As for me, I'm going to do art instead, since I haven't the time to spare for a CYS fanfict.
Your choice. They're pretty similar in layout, but I recommend you use chooseyourstory if you want to add variables and what-not as a short story-game for this contest.
Thanks! I'll be sure to check it out, sounds real interesting! Might even submit an entry using that format for fun.... :D
Oh and @Tev, it's okay, I can see you're nearing the start date of the contest, and who knows what else Tevokkia's have to do on a daily basis, so unless you literally come home and have nothing to do, don't worry about it, but thanks :3
EDIT: Btw, Vinny you should try linking them, just for all us lazy peeps in the world ;P
Actually, you know what?
Choose your Story Here
(I could only access a Google cached copy, but w/e lol) Infinite Story Here
Speaking of links, can anyone tell me how to use those darn link tags??? Specifically so that I can create a link for a word instead of an ugly web address lol
Resolved ^ Thanks Skye!
Lol Just found out Infinite Stories isn't really for me, and FictionPress' more fitting :3
Use the anchor tag, <"a href" = "[link]">[word]<"/a">
Just remove the quotes at [a href] and [/a]
Where the heck do I learn that??? But thanks xD
EDIT: Cookiez for youz
Haha, until a month and a half ago, my daily business was rather erratic. I got a jot doing art for a company that makes Facebook games, though, so now I'm doing that. They keep me pretty occupied. XD
Question! (For Tev)
Do you think Gremlins in your little part of Emberlight would celebrate the Dark Harvest by planting Gourdlings for the Punkin King? :3
Hey Tev is it ok is I start working on my entry now and post it on DeviantART before the contest starts?
No entries posted anywhere on the internet before 12:01 am EST (GMT -5) will be judged.
@LoN: They don't habitually, but it sounds like something someone would decide to try one year. XD
@Dreathuxy: Go ahead and start working on it, but wait until the first to post it, please.
Hey, peepcakes! One week until weekly events begin and the thread is open for entries! ^.^
are crossovers allowed? Like merging SK with another game?
They are, but I wouldn't recommend it much, considering the judge doesn't play other games and is likely not going to understand what you are writing. Nor is she particularly inclined to go research the topic, as she's going to have a LOT of writing to read.
Question 2.0
Would you consider Vifig's story from the 1st contest as part of the 'official canon' for the Stone Field Borough?
Yes, actually; I have unfinished plans to polish it and add additional characters/dialogue (after having gotten her permission, of course).
So it'd be ok if I referenced to parts of it and whatnot in my own story?
Thank you, Tev, for making another contest! I will definitely enter the contest, in the Spiral Spy category. Man, my SS entry from the previous contest is perfect for the contest's theme. Maybe a little touch to my previous entry...... Nah, just kidding. I thing my entry for this contest will not be as fresh as the previous contest, but I'll do my best!
Even though the contest doesn't start for another two days, you can begin making Livestream Sunday requests beginning today so that you've got more than a single day in which to do so. I can't promise a long stream this week because I've got some pretty hefty deadlines for work, but I'll try to do at least a few.
Not do be annoying or anything, but what do you mean by Livestream Sundays?
If it's a U.S.A or U.K or even Canadian thing, then..... Sorry, I won't understand. So, please? Anyone willing to decipher this code?
@KoV
Tev will Livestream some art on sundays, maybe something else, but I wouldn't really know, I just know what Livestream means, and how Tev's good at art :3
Check the "weekly events" post for a full explanation. Essentially, you make a simple art request (something I can do in maybe half an hour) relating to Spiral Knights, and I may draw it for you. I'll be doing to drawings live so that people can come watch.
Here are a few of the last batches of picture from similar streams I've done. This is about the quality and level of complexity you can expect. You can scroll through the pictures of the photoset with the little arrow to the right of the first photo on this layout.
The sun'll come out tomorrow!
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow!
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about tomorrow!
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow!
Till there's none!
When I'm stuck with a day that's gray and lonely I just stick out my chin and grin and say
The sun'll come out tomorrow!
So you got to hang on till tomorrow, came what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow! You're always a day away!
@Artist - I have the most disturbing urge to sing that in a musical...
...Can you draw one of the GITM dudes playing a double-necked guitar?
:P
@Tev
EDIT: Wait nvm.
Well that was a waste of a post >.>
EDIT the 2nd:
Aw, the contest is gonna start when I'm still at Chinese School. D:

Like, we can use Spiral Spy for the Concept Art category right?
Also betting that a vast majority of the entries will be winter themed because there's not a lot in the game that ties in with any of the other three seasons huhuhu
Yes, Spiral Spy is permissible for the concept art category, as long as the result is different enough from current game files to count as a new item.
And I'm expecting a lot of winter theme too, but there are a lot of items that can convey the heat of summer or whatever, and the introduction of the autumn tile set can give some inspiration in that regard.
Also: An hour and 45 minutes left!
Whoops! Double-post >.<
