I don't want to get emotional, but..

I've been getting less interested in this game, but I know I still love it in the inside. I think of all the old memories of this game, and let me just tell you this. This game is the best MMOG I have ever found, and I thought I was going to be attached to it for longer than this. I'm not quitting. This game was so great that I still get feelings of the previous years, and it tells me not to quit. I love this game more than any game in the inside, but I can't really express that on the outside.

I apologize for the first paragraph being overly emotional. Let's get serious to why I've lost interest, though. The recent updates have given me less simplicity. One of the reasons why I loved this game is because it's a simple game, and it's not one of the games where it's like "You have to learn this combo.", and "You have to acquire this special abillity.", etc.. I miss the classics.

When I first played this game, I thought that "No game can be better than this.", and I was right... until later.

I joined around the times where there were no other ways to play except the arcade, and you hopped in, used your energy, take a break, and repeat. I don't think I can ever forget this game, and I'm just going to say...

Thank you, Three Rings. I know you're probably thinking I have bipolar disorder because I was talking about how I wasn't interested at first, but I said thank you because they've filled my mind with great thoughts.

I don't care about any disagreements, arguments, or anything else. Discuss about the thread.

Bye. Why did I make this?

I miss the old SK too

I miss how simple yet "challenging" SK use to be. I'm not going to complain about the new UI or the new icons because everyone has their own opinions, but I really miss the old SK. Of course there are going to be new things to look forward to in this game (At least I hope so..), but I will always be a fan of the original SK.

Like many others, I love the game too much to leave xD

I like old SK better because the game wasn't a cake-walk like it is now.
I just watched an old vanaduke video (not before official launch), and I remember how he used to spawn the skeletons automatically the first time, and how noobs would run into the shadow fire xD
I remember when wolvers were actually a challenge, and alpha wolvers were the bane of many players. Now alphas are easier then regular wolvers.
I remember (recently) how damn annoying devilites could be. They are still annoying, but not as annoying as before.
I remember Retrodes, before they were nerfed into the ground.
I remember before arsenal stations were here, and you actually had to plan for a level.
I remember the Arcade, and people attempting 0-30 runs without dying.
..I remember a lot of things, that were fun and challenging, but now are boring and much too easy.

I miss the time before

I miss the time before missions and arsenal stations (long gone).
I miss when alpha wolvers were one of the toughest monsters and when playing in an arcade arena you had to target them first or otherwise you were dead.
I miss un-nerfed monsters (except devilites now they're fair).

I remember the time...

When nobody nagged about missing this or that. Or at least, they did far less than people do these days. Learn to like the changes, or at least tolerate it. And if you -are- going to nag about it, why not do it in a productive way? Go petition for this crap to be changed back.

I side with Kimahsonite. That's how I look at things...

Vain, check my "Retro UI?" thread in the suggestions forums.

That feel

I know that feel bro. Joined sk at launch and absolutely fell in love with it. I spent countless hours in this game, hours I felt were well spent. Now I don't even remember the last time I logged in and even tho I should be long gone by now I continue to stay up to date with sk. It's pretty clear to me now that they are going backwards rather than forward. I had such great expectations for this game, so sad to see that they will never live up to them.

Me? Nagging? That's a good

Me? Nagging? That's a good joke. No, I'm telling you guys to quit crying over every little thing that changes in the game. I'm absolutely sick of people saying things like, "It makes me sad" or "I miss (insert random thing)." If you guys don't like it, get organized, make OOO understand. Sitting on your arses and complaining will do NOTHING to help your playing experience. Your lack of motivation to do anything other than cry here on the forums is maddening, no, it's disgusting. If it was possible, I'd give each of you a hard slap to the face.

.

Dementia, you are obviously a newer player or you have never checked the forums before. You seem to have no understanding of the things we miss. If you are newer, you missed out on the best times in SK.

Petitions do NOTHING . New knight creation petition, Shard bomb peition, Shadow Keys, Firo driver ticks, and it goes on.

You get nothing for petitions, and we all know that. That's why we don't do them anymore. We just talk about the things we miss, because they will never be implemented again and SK will continue to deteriorate.

I've been around since 2011,

I've been around since 2011, so put that in your pipe and smoke it. As for things you miss, crying will help that? Excuse me if I'm wrong, but when did crying ever help anything? The only thing you guys accomplish is making yourself look like sad-sacks or disillusioned senior citizens. "In my day, herp derp!" Misery loves company, and the only thing you're doing here is gathering up more sad-sacks so you can make other people into sad-sacks. Be happy, damn it! As you say, the game will continue to change whether you like it or not, so why cry? Like it or leave it. The constant complaints here are worse than the changes themselves.

You hit the nail on the head.

@Bzzts

Your sources are flawed. OOO did listen to that Shadow Key petition and made shadow keys buyable directly with CE.

Complainers who hate complainers laughable.

Huh I dont understand people who complain about complainers aren't you the very thing you hate? Just so you know complaining does help maybe not as much as we want it to obv with shard bombs falling on deaf ears but definitely with the new Ui. And you know what I am sad that the game is no longer what it used to be, and guess what you can't tell sadness to just go away thats how I feel and if you have a problem with that is your issue not mine. I might complain again tomorrow and the next day after that Why you ask? Because freedom of speech which reminds me of a quote: "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."

Who sent all these babies to type?

I don't complain, I scold. If you can't tell the difference, go look it up in a dictionary before your tears stain it. To me, people that cry over little things such as this are no better than children. What you need is to wake up, accept change, and apply salve to the burned area that is now your feelings for the game. Doing nothing is worse than doing something and failing, but you're content to sit here and cry instead. For that, you have my undying contempt and pity, have fun with it.

If everyone was as annoyed by change as some of the people in these forums were, we would have never advanced to the stage of technology and science we are at now.

Dementia-Praecox, I was tranquil, and you said " Go petition for this crap to be changed back.". At least I was serene, and I gave a thank you note to Three Rings for making a great memorable experience, and I wasn't like "I HATE THE GAME!".

What was the point of that post?

If you are truly tranquil and serene, as well as having quit the game, what was the point of even stating that? Also, I wasn't speaking of you directly, don't flatter yourself. Unless you ignore the entirety of the thread, you aren't the only one that's voicing their displeasure.

You are reading this post in a calm tone.

I think one side is just sick of hearing the same stuff being told to them over and over again, double ones that they already know.
As a counterpoint, there isn't much to discuss on the General Discussion forums anyways. Suggestions and fixes go to Suggestions, Weapons and armor discussion goes in the Arsenal, Guild recruitment has their own forum, and random chatter runs into the Gremlins. General Discussion is that odd place where you can say personal [stuff] without actually having to suggest something.
I'm pretty sure at this point, we'll just have to deal with Nostalgia Filters, people who have moved on and just checked back in to pay their respects to the game they think is dead, and the occasional unlucky newbie.

@ Hexyzle You invalidated my other three examples because of one? Doesn't make sense, petitions don't work as a general rule of thumb.

This is one of those odd

This is one of those odd posts to see on the forums, where someone actually acknowledges they're being overly nostalgic about the old SK. Most players make threads similar and say they still aren't quitting, and that says a lot about the qualities the game still holds.

One thing I do notice is that many people in the SK community feel violated by the fairly useless or potentially overly-user friendly attempts at revamping some core aspects.In fact, I kinda dub a good chunk of the community "borderline autistic spectrum hate of change" because of it. That is not any kind of slur by the way, that is a literal aspect inhibited by many various degrees of autism, including higher functioning types such as aspergers.

As a relatively newer player, I'm starting to get a feel that these game changing bits are 50/50, maybe I'll get more cynical as I go, but compounds were a bust, gorgos/greavers deal was alright but silly due to the lack of thoroughness in "downsizing" greavers' numbers, and I like the UI revamp personally, since it conforms more to mainstream HUDs and is more natural, but hate the icons update (Short of weapon icons, they had too high of resolution for small size and too much shading applied to icons)

Boy that's a run on.

Anyways, I think these changes make a lot of sense and are even more welcome to newer players, but older players hate to see their nostalgic game tromped over and given these petty "game changers" and it makes sense on both sides, depending on how much you consider per side.

@BzztsYou only used two

@Bzzts
You only used two correct examples. The usage of a false example displays you weren't very thorough when gathering your information. Anyway, you stated that "[all] Petitions do NOTHING", not "some petitions do nothing" so your point is invalidated if I bring up even a single petition that has succeeded.

Here's a few more:
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/12787
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/78130
and although it wasn't stated as directly to be a petition, all suggestions are "petitions" in a way:
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/40011

@Whitechocolatechip
"borderline autistic spectrum hate of change"

Dogmatism over change is a personality trait, not a result of autism. Autism only affects entering and exiting out of habitual behaviour. Please don't stereotype in this discriminatory manner.
