Interlude: A Tale of Swords and Sandals

Sintag stood at the infirmary, sitting outside on a bench. On his left hand was his Great Defender and a small iron wristband given to him by his friend, Tina. Adorning the band were some small gemstones. Some felt oddly warm, others the exact opposite. He gazed at the wristband and slowly began to feel comfort in it. He didn't know why. He recalled why he was sitting out here. Tina had to be treated for injuries courtesy of the Royal Jelly and, Sintag, with nothing to do, decided to be a good pal and wait outside for her. Tina then stepped out.

She was, notably, a thing of radiance. Long, blonde hair, dyed a dark blue at the end. An emerald cloak she had recovered in the Royal Jelly's Palace. Her gun, which she was seldom ever without, hung at her waist, her Calibur sheathed on her back. A little thin at the waistline, due to the rigors of training and, as Sintag later discovered after befriending her, her habits of taking a long jog. She was, compared to him, slightly taller, Sintag himself being slightly stockier in build and appearance. Sintag stepped up, got off the hard, somewhat cold bench, and proceeded to walk over.

"How bad were the injuries?" He was genuinely concerned for Tina, which caused her to blush. Tina herself was madly in love with Sintag, who in turn harbored a major crush on Kora that may or may not be a secret. Tina soon threw her arms around Sintag's head in a quick hug. He felt her arms encircle him and felt a little better. Finally, Tina answered Sintag's inquiry.

"Not too bad. Some minor bruises, a few cuts, but other than that, all's good with me." Tina's face actually DID look a bit battered. Her left cheek had a small but noticeable bruise on it, and Sintag could clearly see a little bit of crimson red in and around her arms and stomach. Clearly, the slimes had done some damage to her, but she was otherwise still her joyous self.

Another man, dressed in a relatively new poncho made from some old fabrics and stitched together by hand, with a hat that eerily resembled Clint Eastwood's and looked as if it were pulled straight from the movies, walked in. "If it ain't Alfred, gunner extraordinaire." Alfred was a master gunner by all means. He could shoot speedily and with the accuracy of the Spiral Deadshots. He was, plainly, the best gunner Sintag had seen in years. "Hey." Alfred stated. He seemed a bit braver since the Royal Jelly mission, even wielding a sword into battle. Due to the fact his arms were built more for pulling a trigger and not blunt smashing force, though, he had visible troubles with a sword. It was gray, with a red stripe running near it's tip. Sintag's own sword wasn't anything special. It was a Tempered Calibur, stained slightly pinkish from the Jelly matter it had sliced through recently, and it's shininess somewhat tarnished. Tina's face visibly became stone cold when Alfred walked in. It was clear she did NOT like him AT ALL. Alfred, meanwhile, tried to talk to her, but was failing every time, due in part to his awkwardness and Tina's stone coldness. Sintag stepped in and broke the ice. "Can we all agree this is still a good day?"

Then, another man stepped in. He was wearing a new suit of armor, something he called a Vitasuit Deluxe. Upon his head was a Solid Cobalt Helm, which gleamed with the radiance of the dim lighting in the room. Sintag's own helmet did the exact same thing. On his shoulder was a massive sword, which, though green the last time Sintag had noticed it, now glowed a combination of purple and black, giving it an eerie, borderline sinister look. On his other shoulder, was another large blade, which was yellow and white. Both swords had an eye-like shape and both of them radiated an aura of...something. "I come in to check on how a friend of mine's doing, I find an argument. ...This is already uneventful." Sintag simply addressed the man. "Carter. How's life been treating you lately?"

"Oh, you know, the usual. Hunting down stuff, crafting, making a sword. Also, I heard Barrus wants to see you. From the tone of things, it doesn't sound good in any respect. I'd advise avoiding him at all costs at the moment, he seemed angry beyond belief."

Sintag nodded, understanding why. He exploded at Barrus a little while back for being told to simply leave his field partner to die.

He then looked around Haven, wondering what to do, when he picked up a flyer and read it.

"Hey! You there! Are the exotic wildlife you fight on a daily basis not putting up much of a fight? Are you in need of more thrilling, exciting sport? Do you just need a hint of danger to your boring life? Well, King Krogmo himself has just the solution! Lockdown! Enjoyed by the royal family* for many a generation**, Lockdown is the premier sport *** for thrillseekers everywhere****!"

* = No it wasn't.
** = It's very recent.
*** = This is the only true part of this flyer.
**** = Only on Cradle.

Sintag looked over the flyer for a few moments. He then threw it away, deciding the stress wouldn't be worth it.

OOC: Oh yay, page 2.

Bringing character info here for easy reference later on when writing chapters.

Sintag - Standard Cobalt Knight. Good swordsman and gunner, but can't exactly bomb. Will wield a Leviathan Blade and Valiance, an Aegis, and full Azure Guardian Armor. Has no discernible strengths, but no glaring flaws. Everyday personality, but seems shy around women. Has a crush on Kora. Is crushed on by Tina. Male.

Tina - Elemental/Piercing defender. Primarily uses an Autogun, will upgrade to Blitz Needle. Uses an Elemental cloak (To become Divine Cloak) and a Solid cobalt Helm (To become Azure Guardian Helm.) Otherwise, gear does not differ much from Sintag. A faster, but inaccurate gunner and slightly weaker with swords. Low defense. A total tsundere, becoming overly flirtatious towards Sintag, but harbors a cold and violent side to anyone else who tries to get romantically involved with her. Harbors a crush on Sintag. Female.

Alfred - A friendly but brazen fellow, this guy wears full Gunner gear and uses two Alchemers, a Catalyzer (To become a Neutralizer), and an Antigua (To become an Argent Peacemaker). Uses a Combuster occasionally, but is weak with swords and cannot use them too well, resulting in a difference in power and speed from someone capable of using a sword. Male.

Carter - The big guy. Uses a Vitasuit Deluxe and a Solid Cobalt Helm. Wields an Avenger and a Faust. Has no shield and cannot exactly use a gun proper. Has slightly buffed defense to make up for lack of a shield. Sarcastic, intelligent, but unknowingly blocks himself off from women by using someone else as a visual barrier. Male.

I didn't exactly agree to the duel-wielding. :P

I think it'd be pretty cool if Carter stabbed an enemy with one of the swords and kicked the sword through it.

Well that also works.

In other news, my keyboard is REALLY MESSED UP.

As in n also makes a 7 and b adds a four. Vice versa.

No new chapters until this gets worked out. Apologies.

Chapter 14: A Tale of Arcades and Revelations

Well, bad stuff had happened.

But let's not go ahead, eh?

First off, I was being grounded for three weeks. No missions. That was all. Tina had decided to help me out a little, since I seemed, understandably, to be a bit down. She led me to the Arcade gates. "Barrus can take away missions, but where those are gone, the Arcade always exists as a way down." We had begun in Moorcraft Manor and descended down three floors. It was here we began noticing Gremlins not fighting us but rather carrying and hauling things. We moved stealthily, making sure we couldn't get caught. Tina kept her gun readied in case we were caught. I myself wielded my Tempered Calibur and occasionally took peeks at what they were making. It looked like a ginormous Gun Puppy on blueprints. That wasn't too distressing, but this was the Gremlins. It was bound to be horrific if it was ever finished. We eventually found ourselves on a work site. There were blueprints everywhere for individual pieces of something they were calling "Project R." Tina slowly walked ahead, holding her blade outward in both hands, for once holstering her gun.

I noted something different about her gun. It was green with a darker colored barrel, loaded with light green needles. She kept calling it a Needle Shot, and she kept it away from the constructs, focusing more on the Gremlins with it, whereas I helped deconstruct several robots. They seemed much tougher now. My blade kept skittering off, forcing me to have to whittle them down from range with my Super Blaster to open them up to Calibur's slashes.

The Calibur, I had noted, could slash right through metal as if it were vibrating constantly, producing small vibrations of a very high frequency, allowing it to cut damn near everything. I noticed visible heat on what had been cut - Orange hot, superheated to extreme temperatures - And surmised this was all something by the author to shorten the fight sequences to something he could actually manage in between long, boring exposition. But I quickly threw that theory away.

It was a bit slow, since there were so many Gremlins and Constructs willing to get in the way, but eventually we saw the plans. A single computer console, left gleefully unattended, with the data ripe for the taking. I downloaded the blueprints to my comlink and began to weed out any viruses, of which there were none. Afterwards, I began the slow, tedious work of decrypting the files - This all had to be done offsite - And I discovered the plans were for two turrets meant to wipe Haven off Cradle. I ducked behind another fallen log and, seeing my Recon Module, quietly armed it and prepared a message. "To anyone reading this. If "Project R" has been deployed and you've found this, GET UNDERGROUND. I don't care what the Order might tell you, I don't care how "safe" you think you are, or how well-armed you might be - It WILL wipe you out. The schematics revealed a beam weapon, missiles, bombs...Everything trying to kill you, will."

I ended the module's message off there. If "Project R" went as expected, there would be no Haven to return to. But there were too many Gremlins to risk an early strike. Several were banging rods together, tipped with a mineral, create catalyzing chaos amongst the already chaotic workforce. Quite a few held hammers and were banging together the result. Several, like Razwog, held flamethrowers and were welding. More than a few held some sort of wrench with a crystal, yelling, "Mending!", healing the workers. Tina and I went up on the elevator and I set the slow process of downloading the data and trying to make heads or tails of it up. I sat down in the Arcade and quietly downloaded the data, then uploaded it to Jorin.

"Jorin, I discovered these plans at a Gremlin work site. I can't make any sense of this. Can you try?"

"Sure, Sintag. I'll see what I can do regarding this, "Project R" file you just sent my way."

"All right. Sintag out."

I got off the channel and quietly considered my options when Barrus came over my comlink.

"Right, so Jorin's telling me you found a massive war machine with enough firepower to level Haven. Normally I wouldn't do this, but I'm taking you off your grounding. You need to prepare, Sintag. I'd start here, here, and here." Three new missions popped up via comlink. "I'd advise backup at all costs. Who knows how many Gremlins and Constructs there are?"

I nodded. "All right, Barrus. Sintag out."

Chapter 15: A Tale of Strangers and Conventions, Part 1

Tina and I stepped back into the Hall of Heroes, and I noticed three new faces. Archilus, Sylvin, and Walkon all came on in. Archilus's gear looked pretty good. He must have hid a spare suit. Sylvin's gear was also great, and so was Walkon's. They all must have hidden an entire suit of armor in their pods and fought their way out of wherever they landed. Either way, the Hall Of Heroes was fully populated now. Tina investigated Archilus's wares and picked out a Miracle Cloak Recipe and a Chaos Cloak Recipe. I myself took a look at Jorin's gear and saw something that interested me. Something called a Cold Iron Carver. I picked it up, and also acquired a Calibur recipe to create a new beginning for it. I then collected a Cold Iron Vanquisher Recipe and quietly set about creating the Calibur. But then I recalled something good. Why Tina and I were called here, and we both quietly, eventually, found our way to Barrus.

"Barrus." I stood at attention and awaited orders.

"Well. Well, well, well. Since we have a major emergency on our hands, first off, Sintag, you're off your grounding, officially. We need you now more than ever. Tina, well, I'm going to have to congratulate you for surviving within the Royal Jelly AND keeping Sintag's mind together. But back on subject. We've got to deal with this "Project R" before it takes too much shape. If what you discovered was true, you're dealing with a massive pair of turrets. We're trying to locate them, but things like this take time. Bright side, we HAVE confirmed they're in Tier 2, but that's really about it. We need to look for the ENTIRE tier two for two turrets that, while big, are small in scale to the planet."

Tina looked excited and quietly comprehended her options now. Barrus spoke up. "Well, while we're busy, I suppose you might as well wait. Maybe take care of some missions while you're waiting. Activating Prestige Missions now."

Tina and I both quietly looked over our Missions list and saw several new missions. It felt great to be having this opening. New missions. New work.

Tina, as soon as we left, tugged me to her secret garden place. She then took a second look at the mission list. We decided to just freely enter the Clockworks again and see how much we could scrounge up. We then arrived in some sort of office. We decided it was better to eavesdrop, and we found several imp-like creatures with a HORDE of zombies, planning some sort of attack on a convention...OF STRANGERS! This was bad by all means. They were planning to send the zombies from underground upwards to attack. Tina and I decided this simply would not do.

We had to, first off, acquire a disguise that would make us resemble Strangers, or at least be able to get in without raising too much concern. Getting the hat was one thing. I eventually found some people with two hats to spare, and one of the birds populating Haven, or, Snipes, took an affinity to my hat. All the better for my disguise, I suppose. Tina's hat was a bit white, but some dye sorted the issue out.

Now that we had the hat, the hard part would be getting the robes and actually fitting. All equipment was, this time, OSP. (On Site Procurement) Alfred came in. He made us a good pair of robes that would at least let us pass off. Tina and I donned our disguises. I wore my armor under the robes (Holographic), but couldn't conceal anything without breaking the holograph. As Tina and I walked into the convention, unnoticed, I sat down on a bench and simply waited it out. Another Stranger sat to my left, Tina to my right. This helped my disguise somewhat. I wondered how they didn't suspect us at all. I closed my eyes, took in the peaceful conversation, and waited.

I've noticed that when you are mentioning Carter, you tend to use "simply" alot.

"He simply folded his arms."

"Carter simply smashed it's block away and stabbed through it."

"..., and Carter simply wiping the jelly matter off everyone's weapons with a cleaning rag."

"Sintag simply addressed the man."

In the span of the two chapters I've been in so far, you've done that four times. Not too sure if just a coincidence. :P

Righto chap. The reason I use "Simply" like Smeyer uses "chagrin" (Albeit I actually use it in correct context and do not have to beat a poor dictionary in) is because it lets me correct any situation. It IS a coincidence that I spam Simply.

Sorry 'bout that.

Chapter 15: A Tale of Strangers and Conventions, Part 2

(Out of context here. I'm going to have to be a bit quicker on updating here. I was suspecting Battle Sprites would be released 7/24/13. WHOOPS!)

-Sintag's POV-

I stepped off the bench. The conversation was turning to shrill screaming. Strangers began fleeing for the exit, which Tina sat close to, keeping a wary eye on it. I myself walked down, procuring a Fireburst Brandish and Magnus for my own ends. I tossed Tina an Autogun and shed my disguise, walking into the convention, holding two weapons I barely knew how to use. I saw before me a literal army of Zombies. Steeling myself for what was going to be possibly the longest fight of my life, I unsheathed the Fireburst Brandish. It felt just like a Calibur, which was a good thing. The fact that, according to my comlink, it read to be more effective against the undead than a Calibur was icing. Icing on a VERY painful cake. I was worried about the fact that this weapon uses, well, FIRE, but the comlink reassured me by essentially alerting me to the fact my armor was designed to resist sword-based napalm explosions. That was helpful.

As I stepped outwards to the arena, I looked this time at the Magnus. It looked kinda stubby. I decided, however to make the most of it anyway if the situation arose. The Fireburst Brandish swung through the air, clacking and clicking as the sound of bone meeting superheated metal echoed through the once-bustling halls. I was getting pushed back slowly but steadily, though. There were simply too many. Tina stepped in and she was being a good shot with that gun, but it was obvious this was a losing fight. I then withdrew the Magnus, and fired one shot at the weakened hordes.

They flat-out exploded! This gun would be a lifesaver. Tina went on ahead and weakened them while I started sniping them down, one by one. We were starting to regain ground. We eventually began to eradicate where these were coming from, an apparent portal. It was black with a hot pink eye over it. It looked flat-out creepy. Stepping in it, I felt as though my muscles were going to freeze at any moment. Tina began pounding on it with literally whatever she could hit it with, causing it to shrink. Eventually, it began spitting out MORE zombies. This would explain their endless number - This thing was creating them.

???
A mysterious otherworldly portal.

Tina and I kept walloping this thing, but it simply refused to close up. Eventually, I clicked the trigger on the Magnus and held it down. I wasn't an expert on using this pistol, but the regular shots had themselves some recoil. So when I fired the resulting massive bullet, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I went flying backwards, onto my rear end. Tina pulled me to my feet. The charged bullet closed the portal off, with a mighty BANG at the end just to let me know how dangerous this gun was. I holstered it. It might prove helpful later, who knows.

After that incident, I noticed something. A small, white stone. Tina beat me to it and held it. She dropped it in surprise, but picked it back up. "S-Sintag...I'm hearing something..."

(I dream... I see you, braving the void. I see you, closing it's endless jaws, resisting it's endless hunger. It's arms may reach you. It's eyes have found you. IT WILL GET YOU IF YOU ENTER IT'S DOMAIN. BUT DO NOT FEAR...)

"It's a voice in my head...Make it STOP! MAKE IT STOP! HELP!" She was screaming now, covering her ears in an effort to shelter herself from the voice. With no better idea, I withdrew the Fireburst Brandish and whacked her hand, which had a death grip over this stone, causing it to shatter and her to drop over. I used the pommel, to avoid any risk of burning Tina. The stone shattered. Whispers could be heard emanating for a few last, lingering moments before it died down. The stone changed back to greyish and faded out, before turning black and eradicating itself as suddenly as it appeared. She shook her hand in slight pain and, tears flowing in pure fear, she hugged me, crying. She began taking deep breaths and trying to calm down. All I could do was throw my arms around her in an effort to calm her. But I could tell from the look on her eyes the voice was burned into her brain.

"Sintag...I..." She struggled to get the words out, her voice sliding between legible and paranoia-fueled gibberish. "Thank you..." She was calmed down by now and quietly snuggled against me. Her eyes still filled with a few tears, but she seemed perfectly fine being in this hug. "Thank you for being here." I slowly nodded back. "Thanks. For everything."

Tina then let go of me from the hug. Barrus got on the line.

"I heard what happened at that Stranger convention. Brave of you two to stop that...Whatever the hell that portal was. I don't think it's the last we'll be seeing of this thing, though. Prepare yourselves if it arrives again. Now, ah, good news regarding Energy. HQ has managed to create a new operating system for your armors. It lets you run independent of mist limits and adds in a few new features. Stop on by when you got the time."

INTERLUDE 2: Tina's Day Off

Tina stepped out into the warm sun that shone over Haven, taking it all in. Her gun stayed put at her waist. Her Ascended Calibur hung off her back, over her shield. She took pride in herself, quietly setting out with not a care in the world, taking the day off. She then remembered it was almost her birthday and wondered if Sintag had anything special planned. At this thought, she smiled, closed her eyes, and became lost in thought. Some was sweet. A surprise party. Cake. Friends. Some was deeply personal stuff. But then the voice re-appeared.

(I am not rid of so easily, knight. But I only wish to help you... Please, let me.) Tina put her hands to her ears and quietly began focusing her thoughts on other subjects, drowning out the voice with a barrage of information. One detail was her past. She was an apprentice, learning the ropes of using swords and guns. She was a MASTER at gunning. She adored the way the limiter on the Blaster lines could so easily stop an overflow in power, but became concerned when it was detachable. Clearly a design flaw...Right? She then remembered the crash. Someone used an Aegis to save her from death when the tearium core exploded. She didn't exactly remember the knight's face, but she recalled the Aegis shattering around her. After that, she ran, and got to an escape pod, save and sound, just as another Knight was sucked out of the Skylark due to air pressure, a pod dislodging from the explosions and entering free fall alongside that poor Knight. She wondered if that Knight had survived the crash's events. Whoever that knight was, she felt as though she owed her life to that person. That was another era right there.

She then recovered her grip on her actions, realizing she had, with muscle memory alone, walked perfectly to the garden. A small dagger with a note on it was seen there. Tina quietly picked the note up and read it over.

"If you're reading this, go to the Guild Hall at 1400 hours today. You know who I am."

Tina knew only two people who knew this spot. Herself and Sintag. Lovely, lovely, Sintag. She actively tried to suppress losing herself to her thoughts again, this time somewhat succeeding. She blushed a little bit. She then stopped and gazed at her wristband. She had given another wristband, much like her own, to Sintag. She noted also that the gemstones adorning the ring were giving off heat signatures. No doubt it'd mess with her comlink's inputs if it was set to view heat signatures. But it was a beautiful wristband she had made herself from steel and gemstones liberated from numerous dives into the Clockworks.

She recalled also why she had the day off. The new armor's operating system would take a day or two to install itself, so she and Sintag were given the day off that day to wait out the installation. She looked at the time. Currently, it was 12:30. This meant she had an hour and a half of time to kill. Sintag came up over her line.

"Ah, you've found the note I left you, eh? I was planning on leaving a bunch of notes around Haven and the arcade, but hey, you just saved me all the trouble and time of writing down a lot of notes and smelting several daggers. So, ah, thank you. ...Now what to do with this surplus of daggers... Anyway, there's a surprise waiting for you. 2 o' clock. Guild halls. You kept the note."

Tina responded happily. "Can I take a gue-"

She was cut off. Sintag must've gotten off the line. She walked over to the Auction House, gently pushing her way through a wall of knights, and took a datapad which held all the newest auctions. She sat down on the steps and browsed the lists for a little bit, wondering what she could do concerning the sheer surplus of what she was grabbing all the time. Then, Sintag came walking over. In his arms was a literal pile of daggers. He set the giant pile of daggers down and set some prices. They were teleported away, possible to never see their creator again. A few minutes later, Sintag got a ping via comlink and read the mail. The dagger pile landed, thankfully handle end first, on another Knight, who now himself had to deal with so many daggers burying him in sharp pokey death. Without another word, he departed, obviously needing more time. She checked her watch again. 12:45. Time flies when you're bidding on overpriced crap, she decided, and so she left. A hand on her shoulder stopped her, though. She turned around and saw a man wearing a white fur coat and cap. She'd heard of these people as being total Lockdown addicts. She detested Lockdown with every fiber of her being, so she continued walking, only to be stopped by a few more knights all wearing the same thing.

At this, Sintag walked back through, carrying a few crates. Carter was helping him haul a few of the bigger crates, lifting them over his head as if they were a small child's toy being used by a grown man. Sintag groaned a little under the immense weight he was shouldering. It actually seriously hurt to haul this many crates. When he saw what was happening, he gave Carter his load of crates and took off running at the group that was harassing Tina.

Tina was, herself now tired of this. She didn't want to talk to these people, even as they were obviously hitting on her. She took out her Strike Needle, giving Sintag some pause. He backed off quickly and grabbed a crate, then ducked behind it for whatever cover it could afford. Tina held the tirgger on her gun, aimed it for the first idiot, at point blank range, and released the trigger, causing a shotgun-style burst of extremely sharp needles to fly out from the barrel, hitting the guy in white fur across the face fifteen times. He ran off, blood now flowing from his wounds. The other three ran at her and grabbed her arms, though. At this, Sintag decided to act.

He didn't exactly have his weapons on him, but he was taught a trick by Echo. Taking his shield out, he activated both Dash Modules, at once, and held the shield outwards, using it as a battering ram. He flew, smashing head-on into one of the clone-like people, sending him skidding across the square. He then grabbed Tina's free arm and took off with her, holding the crate under his free arm. Tina blushed. To be saved by a knight in shining armor again. It was kind of cute.

Sintag checked his watch. One fifteen. Barely 45 minutes left...

He sprinted into the guild hall and began setting everything up. Tables. Chairs. Assorted items.

Tick, tock...

1:30 passed, then 1:45. The men were just finishing up. 1:55 hit, and Sintag realized he still needed to set up one more thing. Withdrawing a stand from seemingly nowhere, he set it down. The clock struck 2. Tina walked inside, but couldn't see a damn thing in this darkness. The lights, stark and industrial in nature, suddenly turned on, blinding her. For a few moments she saw nothing, but her eyes adjusted quickly to this lighting and she looked around. Still dark ahead. Then, the lights went on and a yell of "SURPRISE!" was heard. Tina looked over in happiness. She was eighteen tomorrow, but since today was her day off, the guys had decided this would be the best time to throw her a birthday party. It wasn't anything special. Cake. Ice cream, an ancient treat from another time, but remained safe and sound due to it's seemingly endless possibilities from the wear and tear of time. Assorted birthday gifts the guys must have bought from the Auction House.

But where in the world was Sintag...? She got her answer when he lightly double-tapped her shoulder, causing her to turn around quickly. Sintag himself then produced his gift. It was so simple and yet so sweet in nature. A small gemstone. She joyously took the gift, put it in her pocket, and then suddenly kissed Sintag on the lips. "Thank you so much for doing this, Sintag."

Sintag didn't move, though. He didn't speak. He didn't do anything. He was dead to the world at this point, his nerves and muscles frozen up. He then crumbled to his knees. Carter spoke up with a BEAUTIFUL bit of snark. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a dead body, cause of death, overjoyed romance." Sintag stood right back up a few seconds later, though. Then another voice greeted them. Kora stepped into the hall. Tina's face went somewhat colder.

Although the duo had made up since the incident and were actually somewhat friendly, there was still that icy tension that all of a sudden they could get into a fight. Sintag was now the only thing standing between them and a full-blown fight. Kora simply smiled a little.

"Hello there. I heard your birthday party was today."

"Yeah. It is. What's new?" Sintag could feel the tension easing up ever so slightly, but kept a hand near his sword to break up any fighting.

"I brought you something." At this, Kora simply walked over to Tina and handed her a gift-wrapped bag. The wrapping wasn't THAT good, but Tina had considered that maybe Kora didn't get much of a chance to socialize much and as such had never been to a party. It was enough to make her feel kinda bad for her. Kora then whispered into her ear.

"Mix this with some tea and give it to Sintag. Make sure, at all costs, you're the first girl he sees after consuming any of it, though. It's a powerful love potion. He'll fall for you for 24 hours."

"Thanks, but...Why are you helping me? I thought Sintag had a crush on YOU."

"I already know about it. The thing is, though, you two make such a perfect couple. You have that sort of chemistry between you that just comes naturally. The kind that would make Cupid smile. Well, go on. Use it on him."

"What about yourself?"

"...Sintag and I only really bonded through training to trust one another. You two just seemed to work better as a team."

"...All right then. Thank you."

"It's the least I can do. Here's to your health."

"The same to you."

As Kora then turned to leave, she kissed Sintag on his cheek out of slight romantic interest, causing him to fall right back over, a frozen wreck of what was once a dignified man. Tina helped him to his feet, but noticed a blade on Kora's back. What did she have to do to procure this love potion? Would it work?*

* = Here's a hint for those of you unaware with the genre. It'll work, but not quite as Tina expects it to.

Tina shrugged and, noting a small smudge where Kora's lips met Sintag's cheek, wiped it off since obviously he was too much in a daze to move.

Alfred, who had been staying silent this entire time, spoke up. "So, how long do you think he's going to remain like that?"

Carter butted in now. "Ten crowns says at least four more hours."

"You're on."

Tina neared a bed and lifted Sintag into it, then kissed him again for good measure. "Best birthday party ever." She smiled and slowly put herself into a nearby bed, and fell asleep smiling devilishly about how she'd give Sintag the love potion. It was going to work. It had to work out for her. It had to.

End of Interlude 2

I don't exactly picture Kora as a liar, especially to people she considers friends. Although her and Tina are a bit at odds, they're at least trying to become friends.

Yes, it IS a love potion. Just don't expect things to work like Tina would expect it.

Chapter 17: A Tale of Love Potions and Hilarious Mistakes

(Wasn't sure if that title would fit. Jeez.)

Tina got up and took a look at the bed Sintag was sleeping in. She withdrew from her footlocker the love potion Kora had given her and looked at the preferred amount. It was a pinkish powder. Checking the ingredients, all it read was, "Enamorocks." Tina flashed back. Enamorocks caused whoever held them to have a warm, fuzzy feeling. In concentrated form, it would cause a knight to temporarily fall into head-over-heels love. Tina grinned. She then got up and began heating water to make some tea to administer the potion. She quietly realized that Sintag would be getting up soon. She'd have to hurry lest she be noticed.

The kettle began emitting a horrifyingly shrill noise. Although Tina knew Sintag was a deep sleeper, practically no one could sleep through this. It was like an alarm clock, times a hundred. She quickly shut the heat off and set about creating the tea. Checking the bag of love potion for the best dose, it read, one teaspoon. Tina quietly took the same teaspoon she had been using to prepare the tea, took a small scoop of the pink powder from it's bag, and placed it into the tea. She hurried herself up a bit, stirring the substance into the tea barely in time to hear Sintag waking up.

Sintag went to a wardrobe and put on his armor and helmet. He holstered his Master Blaster and sheathed the Ascended Calibur. He then walked to the kitchen. In it, was Tina, setting down the tea. She had, unbeknownst to him, bugged a teacup with the love potion. She then tripped and it switched around. Her glass and Sintag's glass jumbled around now. Although no liquid was spilled, she now had no idea whose glass was bugged with the love potion. She sat the tray down, a little embarrassed. Sintag was still somewhat sleepy, though, and he didn't notice much of what had happened. She took the first sip from her glass of tea...And suddenly something about Sintag made him so very lovely. She found herself suddenly wrapping herself around him and squeezing his arms.

Man, was Sintag awake now. He put his arms up in a weak effort to pull Tina off him. She pulled his arms down and grabbed him. "Sintag, I love you~"

He could tell something was wrong. Even though Tina had a crush on him that drove him mad at times, this was quite overt, even for her. "T-Tina. Is something wrong? You seem...Not quite yourself. ...Actually, this IS how you normally are, but, ah, only a lot more extreme."

Tina simply wrapped her arms around his shoulders and held his arms to his sides. "So? I don't see any problems."

Sintag KNEW something was up now. He wasn't exactly sure what, though. He then remembered today was Tina's birthday. "Oh. Also, happy birthday."

Tina smiled, happily. Even under the effects of what might be the strongest love potion, one that clouded her thoughts, she still remembered today WAS her 18th birthday. "Thanks a lot, cutie~"

She happily nuzzled his face, blushing heavily, even if she wasn't doing anything close to romantic. Now this would take an effort. Kora had specified 24 hours would be the time that the person who ingested the potion would spend locked under it's influence. Tina simply couldn't help herself, though. She jumped towards Sintag, knocking him onto his back in a hug. Sintag's arms were still pinned at his sides now, and as Tina slowly pushed herself up and off him, allowing him to get back to his feet, she walked towards him and took both his hands. "Follow me." Sintag gulped. Tina led him to that garden. Why it always seemed to be here he never knew, but she then began to slowly giggle, more and more, until she was laughing. She then pushed him over and intertwined her legs and Sintag's, preventing him from making an escape.

Sintag spoke up, a little confused. "What's gotten into you!"

Tina, still under that love potion's influence, unbeknownst to Sintag, responded. "I just realized how much I love you. Is it too much to ask that I get to share that feeling?" Her tone was one that was quite powerfully seductive. Had Sintag been caught more so off guard, and had he not still retained a crush on Kora, he would have fallen prey to Tina's charm. And even with those circumstances, it was painfully clear to them both he was having a hard time resisting Tina's flirting. He was blushing madly, and, despite his effort to suppress it, he found himself with the urge to kiss Tina. She beat him to it, though, and crawled forwards.

"Now. Don't move. I just want to have fun~"

She then pressed closer to his face, and plainly kissed him on the lips. She persisted in this kiss, though, putting a hand behind his head and holding him in. She then released him from her lips, but craved more. Her desire was overwhelmingly felt as she stared, overjoyed, into Sintag's eyes. She pressed against him again, using a seductive tone.

"You taste so good. I want more~"

Sintag could tell from her breath there was something in her glass of tea. He flashed back to the morning's events. He had noticed a bag on the counter with a teaspoon in it. Although he was sleepy and foggy of those events, he distinctly remembered that. What was it, anyway? He racked his brain for answers. He kept going, narrowing the possibilities until it hit him. He saw a few grains of pinkish powder near the outer rim of Tina's glass. Coming to any sort of logical conclusion, this was what was making Tina act this way. His train of thought was promptly derailed a few seconds later when Tina kissed him on the cheek, then the other one. She then took a few moments, her face in a wide smile and reddened from blushing. She then leaned down and in, before placing a kiss directly on Sintag's lips. Despite any sort of struggle he put up, Tina wasn't going to get off him. She then placed a kiss on Sintag's cheek, and held his face in, so that she was ending the kiss on her terms. After a few seconds, she let go.

"Delicious~"

Sintag had had enough, though. Tina's charm was beginning to wear off. As she leaned back in for another kiss, he took her shoulders. "Why are you doing this!?" At this, he felt Tina stroke his arm, slowly doing so to savor the moment. His grip loosened for a moment, but came back to. He then felt a hand stroke his cheek and heard Tina giggle. He got back to his feet now, but Tina seemed insistent on kissing him. She grabbed both his shoulders and pulled him in closer.

"Don't escape, honey~"

She then locked Sintag in a hug. He weakly put his arms up in an effort to pull free, but Tina kept her grip. He hadn't eaten anything today, and the hunger was beginning to weaken him. His stomach rumbled for food. Tina took notice and let him go. "Hungry? C'mon. Follow me."

Sintag then figured he could use something to potentially knock Tina unconscious. Not physically, though. That was out of the question. He then saw a bottle of chloroform and a rag, as well as some food. Tina herself was making him some lunch - Had he ever had her cooking? - And smiling kindly. She then finished the meal. A steak. Some potatoes, diced with the Firebust Brandish to cook them, mixed in with some Blaze Pepper. Sintag happily ate the meal, but he needed to get Tina in close just enough for him to cholroform her out. It, at least, would subdue Tina. It was here he noticed a brown bag containing ground-up Enamorock powder. Was this what Tina had in her tea? His mind put the pieces together. Tina would give him the tea and cause him to fall for her. But the glasses must have been swapped around due to something and Tina's already enormous crush was simply augmented to dangerous levels by this potion.

He quickly applied a few drops to the rag and, As Tina leaned in for a kiss, actually decided to try something crazy. He dabbed his lips with a bit of chloroform. Tina drew in closer and spoke to him.

"Let me have a taste~"

She then kissed Sintag on the lips. He felt a light hug as well, and began to feel Tina's stranglehold on his back slowly weaken. She fell asleep smiling. Sintag himself then realized the chloroform applied to his lips was going to knock him out, too. Ignoring reality, he became curious as to why he didn't fall asleep right now. Oh wait, nope, his eyes began to close and he leaned backwards just enough to keep from falling out of his chair. With Tina sleeping on him, he finally fell fast out and slept.

About twenty solid hours of sleep later, both of them woke up. Tina herself had no memory of her birthday's events. Sintag filled her in on it, nothing it was quite ordinary. Tina simply looked at him with a little bit of blush in her cheeks. After a little bit, she thanked him for celebrating her birthday with her and gave him a hug, followed by a kiss on the cheek. "You're so nice to me! You're just the best guy ever! You honest cutie! ...I want to spoil you. You earned it." She then grabbed Sintag's face and slowly thought it over a bit. "Hee hee...You're going to love this~" She then pulled his head to her neck and placed her head above his, then snuggled up against him, kissing his forehead repeatedly and blushing. She released him, though. "Ah, that felt good. No more, though." Sintag then got off the best and checked the download on the new operating system.

Fully downloaded. A changelog appeared in front of him. "I like some parts of this and hate others. Is this what happens when they change stuff?"

"Yeah. Normal stuff. Don't worry."

"Cool."

END OF CHAPTER 17.

NOTE: The fanfic will be delayed until Battle Sprites have been released. I want to integrate them and Nonna into this somehow and stuff and yeah. Sorry.

My App

Im not sure if you are accepting for characters but I'll make one in case.

Name:Graves (Named after my favorite AD Carry in League of Legends but that's another story)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Mecenary (I always class players and NPC between Mercenaries and Spiral Order Knights. Mecenaries would be players and Spiral Order Knights would be more unified and coordinated knights.)
Strengths: Bombs is his main weapon of choice (even though theres already a bomber, I guess my character can be a minor character that pops up once in awhile.) He is average in swords but only use them in specific situations.
Weaknesses: Guns, he cant shoot to save his life.
Personality: He is more of a silent and emotionless person, but if you look closely he will display many things such as anger and sadness. He is also someone who is willingly to take a challenge.
Weapon Preference (You cannot prefer everything): I don't really know what to put in this one so I will say Heavy Demo Suit and Helm. Plasma Capaciter and a Master Blast Bomb. You can also sometimes see him with a caliber (2*, don't make it the 4* version) as a back up weapon, but he mostly keeps it on his back. His shield is a Wise Owlite Shield.
Background: Graves was one of those high school student drop outs that joined that Spiral Order (I'm not saying that people who dropped out of high school to join the military is a failure if anyone is offended by this sentence.) but quickly rose up to the rank of a squire. He had plenty of friends that went and go in his tour at the Skylark (Before the crash incidence, graves had the colbat set and a defender. His weapons was a blast bomb and a haze bomb.) He found out that he was great with the bombs and it fit his preference of killing enemies, drop a box, go boom, dead enemies. But after the crash Graves surprisingly had his colbat set left, but his shield and weapons were broken. Since this was before the time of Rhendon and Sintag, there were no proto gear to be dropped into his coordinates. So he had to punch his way out to the rescue camp (It took him 3 hours instead of the regular 20-30 minutes if we are being realistic with melee combat in real life.) When he reached the rescue camp he finally got himself fixed up and got a proto bomb and a proto sword. It was not good as his blast bomb but it would do. He had a friend to help him on the way to Haven and after that, they never met again. When he reached Haven, communication and organization was being set up. There was someone in this furry armour set with a red trim that was kind enough to explain what happened and the basic of survival in the clockworks. Graves then went down to the arcade every time he had the mist and made enough crowns to get much better gear. When the Spiral Order finally settled in, Graves decided to quit the order and become a freelancer or a mecernary. He worked hard to get those precious shinies but eventually it payed off. After several months, he finally got his current gear. So, until there is a worthy challenge for him, Graves will be forever doing missions and arcade runs trying to seek an answer for something he does not even know.

Sorry for any spelling errors and crap writing on the background.

Chapter 18: A Tale of Battle Sprites and Giant Robots (Part 1)

Jorin's voice appeared over the new interface. "Testing, testing, one two three, testing testing. Am I coming through all right?"

I could easily hear him without the need for a comlink. Just then, though, Kora came barging through the doors. "Sintag! Where are you?"

I repressed blushing. "R-Ri-Right here, Kora."

"Well, Rhendon's been trying to get into contact with you. ...He seems to still be using the older method of comlinks though. We need to give him the memo. Anyways, get Tina, get Alfred, get Carter, and follow me."

As the team gathered their weapons and brought up the new interface, I could tell we were doing something either dangerous or expository.

Anyways, we all set out after Kora. When she led us to a lab, I wondered what would be inside. The main scientist introduced himself.

"Hello. Name's Morlin, how do you do?"

"The name's Sintag, sir." I had never seen this man before. We shook hands quickly before Morlin promptly explained why Rhendon sent out for us.

"Right, so there's three caches of Sprites down in the Clockworks. Normally I'd go down there to retrieve them, but I'm not what you'd call the fighting type. So, you'll all be accompanying Rhendon. Also, sidenote. Remember that artifact Razwog stole? We were able to re-acquire it. It's in the lab, but it'll take a lot of time for us to decipher any of it." He gestured to the back.

Tina, then Alfred, then Carter walked over to gaze at it. I already had a good eyeful or two of the damn thing. So many horrible memories of that fiery running hell swarmed back, so I avoided looking at it. Carter and Alfred shrugged it off. Not a lot was happening. But Tina seemed transfixed to it. Wondering. Waiting. "This is...Weird." She then returned, albeit now confused. "Argh. That device flat-out hurts my brain. I'm not even going to TRY to understand it."

We all then were warped to the lobby. Rhendon was standing there at the controls. "So SOME PEOPLE didn't tell me we were off the comlink system. Wish they let me know earlier. Anyways, I assume Morlin explained why you're here, so let's not waste any time. Get to the elevator."

As soon as we descended, Rhendon brought up the map. "OK, check. We're not too far, but keep a weapon ready." The five of us stepped onto a big red button...And before us were dragons.

I think they were. Tina was running towards them in happiness and due to, admittedly, the fact they were too damn adorable. One of them hovered over to my shoulder, another to Carter, another to Alfred, and obviously one took a liking to Tina's affection. They all hovered around our shoulders. Rhendon spoke up. "Wait a second here. These dragons...Are Battle Sprites. E-class. They seem, to have become, well, dragons. ...That was obvious, I'm sorry."

We all took a good look. The little fellas looked kinda scared. Lost maybe. Tina kindly stroked the poor Sprite and immediately calmed it down. Carter took a look at his Sprite and slowly began to build trust with it through attempting to treat it like a dog, which worked surprisingly well. Alfred played fetch with his Sprite, using bullet shells in place of a frisbee. I was a bit confused. I had never really been accustomed to having a Sprite follow me. My Sprite seemed a bit jittery. On edge. Tense.

He suddenly lashed out and launched a fireball aimed right for the bushes. Then a Chromalisk, who none of us had seen, suddenly appeared, burning to death in the fiery orb. Rhendon had withdrawn his gun now and kept it steadied.

"OK, well, obviously there's danger here. I'll stay put and wait for backup regarding the Sprites. Your four go on ahead. Take out any threat that you see. You're cleared to use any abilities your Sprites may have gained from their trip in the Clockworks."

We all set out. The fireball had shocked me, though. While I was beginning to overcome my fear of flames, having been through the Clockworks too many times to count by now, they still evoked a primal fear of, "OH MY GOD I AM GOING TO DIE." Tina then approached the threats ahead. With biting jaws and blobs of flame, they lashed at her. Her Sprite then put up two orbs of flame which seemed to project outwards, burning the Wolvers and Chromalisks down. Carter and Alfred's sprites launched fireballs. Mine looked tired. Maybe the fireball took a lot of strength out of him.

He soon bucked up, though, looking back and ready to inflict more carnage. He landed on my shoulder and quickly created a barrier. It was a pair of fireballs that came from seemingly nowhere. If this wasn't the mother of exposure therapy to cure fear, what the heck was? I walked ahead, burning several Chromalisks down to the ground. The Sprite looked tired again and landed on my shoulder, panting out smoke. Tina noticed this and launched a fireball from her own Sprite, hitting several Wolvers. Carter seemed to be fine working alone and Alfred mostly launched fireballs at anything besides us that moved. We were capable of going down to the next stop on our tour.

We just as easily cleared it out. It was too damn boring, though, so I'm not going to put you through that pitiful experience in words or actions. Let me just say that, for once, even Tina, with her madcap energy, complained of severe boredom. Once we went up, we turned in the sprites to Morlin, who happily took them in. "Well, this is fantastic. Rhendon's going to call in a team to recover them. Why don't you four-WAIT!" He then ran over. "Yes? What is it? Oh? You need a team to recover another cache? Good thing I've got four Knights willing to go on an adventure right here." I sighed in slight anger. Morlin was always one to assume people would be willing to go along with him. Well, we had no choice and, either way, we'd have to help eventually. "Sure. Let's help the scientist get his hands on more specimens for experiments. Yaaaay."

(SEE PART TWO FOR SERAPHYNX, PART THREE FOR MASKEWRAITH, PART FOUR FOR COLLECTOR.)
(Also, it'd be nice if The Collector would make reappearances in the clockworks.)

i haven't seen anyone write a story quite like this one. Your writing skills make you stand out here at the forums. I really would like you to go clean up the first few chapters though. For example the blast bomb rolled into an "explosive place" what explosive place pray tell? Also you went into too much detail on how the proto bomb works. Shouldn't sintag already know how to use a bomb even though he's not all that great at it? And lastly, you don't need to keep saying simply, sometimes you don't need to say it at all. Don't get me wrong I'm not a hater, I'm trying to provide some helpful critcism. When I read books I want them to play out in my head like a long movie. I had to reread the first chapter trying to figure out what some things meant, which put my in-head movie on pause. Other than those few minor slip-ups your story is amazing keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to reading more of this fanfic.

Yeah, I'll go ahead and apply a broom and shop vac to a few of the earlier chapters to kinda smooth them out.

Chapter 18 will be released soon enough. I'm sorry it's been taking me a long time to actually go ahead and complete it, but the thing is, well, life's gotten in the way.

And I'm aware I abuse simply. Notice I've been trying to cut that word out lately since Playerman pointed it out to me.

Chapter 18 (Part 2)

It was time to go help Morlin out, AGAIN.

Tina informed me Alfred would be staying behind to help keep the Sprites we had acquired under control and from burning down everything. This left me, Tina, and Carter still ready to go. Rhendon also accompanied us.

"Given what last mission had us working with and attempting to corral, I'm going to be a little bit more cautious this time out. You three better do the same - Given this environment, who knows WHAT we're dealing with this time." As it turns out, ghosts. GHOSTS. They scared Tina, causing her to duck down in cowering fear. We then heard another mewl. Tina looked spooked senseless. Carter had taken his sword out. I kept a hand near my Master Blaster. Rhendon kept his finger on the trigger and kept an eye down the sights. We then saw more cats. At another meow, Tina re-opened her eyes and immediately squealed in joy. This time, I was kind of biting my lower lip trying to distract myself from the sheer adorableness these kittens had. I'm not gonna lie, they were, quite simply, the cutest things you would see. She walked to one and snuggled up against it, nuzzling it's neck. "SO CUTE! SO CUTE SO CUTE SO CUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!"

Rhendon simply smothered laughter at Tina's childlike display of affection. The cat mewed, showing it actually was liking this and purred in a bout of whimsy. Yes, I just used the term whimsy. Don't go laughing at me. Carter looked at Tina, then at the cat, then at Tina, then to the cat. He then made a rude-ish remark. The cats scattered about. Yeah, it was more due to surprise and Tina's clinging. But they left.

A second cat floated over to me, but not one of them seemed to respond to, or for that matter, like, poor Carter. He was forever alone.

Tina and I walked through the halls. Tina was snuggling up against her cat. Mine insisted, thoroughly, on licking my face and batting at the air for seemingly no apparent reason. Then one appeared on Carter's helmet, meowing. It had secretly followed him, I suppose. Then Tina saw a ghost. She backed off, frightened. Then her sprite fired a ray of concentrated light directly into the ghost, melting it. Yes. Really. It. Melted.

Then mine projected a heart-shaped aura. ...It didn't seem to do anything.

Oh well, can't win 'em all. Tina ran over to me, watching my back. Carter lagged behind. His sprite seemed to not like him too much, clawing and batting at his armor. We made a show of it all, a spectacle by any other means. It was grand, it was amazing!

And it was horrifically ineffective. Except for Carter's sprite, which seemed more content to bat at his armor is if it was a toy. Minus getting bopped on the nose. It was, however, absurdly effective when duty called the second floor.

Again, though, it was boring as all hell and I seriously hate describing boring things. So I'll skip that.

We got back to the Lab, our sprites in tow. Morlin greeted us with a smile.

"Now, I'm sure you're tired, and you did a lot today already, but...Could you help me one last time? We've located a third cache of Sprites, the last one to be on radar, and Rhendon is recommending you to escort the Sprites to Haven, per usual."

Well, at least he wasn't assuming. I spoke up.

"All right, but on the condition that you stop sending just us out to find the caches. Seriously, aside from the Biotechs I haven't seen you talk to anyone else."

The others joined in agreeing. Morlin looked flustered for a couple moments. "All right then. Sheesh."

We all then made haste to the lobby. Carter stayed back, mostly because his cat-like Sprite simply refused to stop clawing everyone and he needed to corral the darn thing. But also because he knew the drill. Walk off elevator. Meet sprite. Cool first floor. Boring second floor. This left me and Tina alone with only each other for company. This was nothing new, but it felt awkward this time for some reason. Neither of us could place it. Then the voice spoke back up in Tina's mind. I knew this because, except for the one day where she was drugged with a love potion intended for me, it happened daily. She put her hands to her ears. This time, though, it spoke THROUGH her. It was amazingly creepy. The voice mentioned Arkus. I brought it up with Barrus over the new mounted display.

"Barrus, Tina's been going through that run-in with that voice. It mentioned something about someone named Arkus. Do you know anything regarding the manner?" Barrus's sigh of anger was a profound one. "I was really hoping I could stay off this subject. Look, I'll run it by you once you get here in person. You should deal with any matters first. Also, we're closing in on the Roarmulus Twins's location. We'll have a perfect lock soon enough, just hold on."

Out of Context Talk

Hey guys. A Knight's Tale won't be updating as much pretty soon. I know, I know, Chapter 18's been taking me forever, and compared to other chapters, it might be lackluster, and fine if you call me on either one of those. But I want to give you all a sense of what's going to happen.

I'm not out of high school yet. I began this whole fanfic, which has become decently popular, as a small project to blow off a little steam and keep my writing skills up for the next year. I never knew I'd actually become known by this. It's amazing to think that one little project became this.

And I'm not done yet, either. But I have reality about to ensue. And if I ignore it and pretend it's not there, it's only going to hurt more when it does hit me in the face. So please forgive me if A Knight's Tale is going to be updated a bit slower.

Also, I started a new project, Times Have Changed, which is actually a roleplay set three years after the concluding events in Knight's Tale and details the Wasteland (It'll be mentioned) and the people in it. Stop on over sometime, eh?

Regards and apologies,

Sintag.

Chapter 18 (INTERLUDE)

Tina then collapsed forwards. I caught her in my arms. She yawned, smiling, but obviously tired out. I then carried her over to the wall of the lobby, sat her down carefully, and sat next to her. Despite my thoughts not to watch her sleep, I caved in just the once. Her smile was so cute and she was perfectly happy just sleeping. Her head suddenly placed itself onto my shoulder and she began speaking in her sleep.

"Ah, but of course...So cute~...I wonder if later I could...C'mere~"

I generally tried to maintain interest, but I began to fall asleep as well. I had to stay near Tina lest she become lost. I couldn't bring her sleeping onto the elevator. I began to think. The last thoughts that crossed my mind before entering the realm of slumber were of Kora and Tina's friendship. How did they manage to become friends so fast? I couldn't think any more. I drifted off and closed my eyes.

Since Tina and I were right next to one another, our dreams slowly began to mingle. I then found myself in a sort of depth to Tina's dreamy state. I walked around. Was this lucid dreaming? Was Tina just that good a sleeper? I then saw her approach me. This HAD to be a dream. This was how she envisioned herself. A bit taller. Hair a bit shinier. Even more cute than befo-SINTAG WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. She then hugged me. Then I saw another Tina. And another. Then I saw a Kat and a literal army of Tina. They all converged their guns on it.

"See? We can fight ghosts. We can be strong." The same one Tina held me in her hug. Then a second one. A third, a fourth, a fifth. All of them held me captive in a massive hug.

"So stylish."

"I can help."

"Please?"

It all became clear to me. These were Tina's emotions swirling around, bubbling to the surface. Then one of them pointed over. A blackness with a hot pink eye. The symbol from Razwog's bomb manifested from my own head, that same damned symbol, down to the last detail. A burning blaze that at any point could consume this entire dream. It occurred to me now we were facing our fears. Tina backed off for a few moments, but I took her wrist and spoke to her dreamy self.

"Look. I don't know what we're fighting here. I don't care if we come out of this mentally injured. But, Tina. Even if it's just a dream, running away from your fears is only going to make it worse when they show up."

She looked reluctant. "But on my own?"

I then saw multiple copies of myself as well. They were all just like me. Save for the helmet, which was Solid Cobalt.

My confidence renewed, I turned back to Tina. "We'll be here for you, Tina. Always. Dream or not. I promise."

She looked at me with the happiest look her eyes could give me. "All right. I trust you."

She then attached a cable from my shield arm to her weapon arm. "Together."

"'Till the end."

We then gazed at the things we feared...And then a great whiteness followed by what felt like an earthquake. I then woke up to Tina shaking me.

"C'mon, Sin, wake up!"

I was revived at that point. "Gah-yes?"

"I had the best dream~"

"...So did I, Tina. So did I."

Sirius, first off, baka.

The tilde, or ~, can mark either very base deals in the UK (AMERICAN).

It ALSO, in the sense I use it in, is to trail off on the last syllable. Typically, it's applied with more letters.

BUT THOSE ADDED LETTERS CAN'T HANDLE MY STYLE.

Chapter 18 (Part 3)

(Blah, writer's block. I HATE YOU WRITER'S BLOCK! DIE IN A CIRCLE-SHAPED HOLE)

The third cache went exactly like the first two caches. That's a good thing.

A gigantic metal death robot of some sort captured Tina and Rhendon. That's terrible.

I'm fighting alone, since Carter's still stuck corralling his cat-like Sprite and Alfred called in sick.

This isn't going to be fun at all. Morlin asked me to pick a Sprite from the lot. I picked the third one, what he called a Maskewraith.

Then it did something I had never seen. It spoke.

"Hey, Boss. What's up?"

After that initial shock, Alfred approached with a Maskewraith. Carter came by with a cat, called a Seraphynx apparently. We had to get going to that compound. Morlin managed to somehow get the teleporter working, and we arrived not long after in the lobby.

My sprite, who I took to calling Zero, spoke up again. "Boss, who are we rescuing, who are these people, why does that other ghost look so alike to me, and why are we not there yet?"

We stopped in a graveyard. Morlin came over the display. "Right. The elevator broke down on you. The one on the other side ought to get you to where you need to be."

Still to be continued.
