A mace weapon

I can't think of a good name for it, but for all us wolver brutes (That's what I call myself. I carry mainly
guardianesque stuff such as the Khorovod, but prefer wolver-line armor for the damage boost) and guardians,
we need a mace of some sort, a fact I realized after seeing just how badarss Vanaduke looks with his mace.

So, how would it work?

It would be a very slow weapon, of course. However, it would deal a ton of damage, even more
than troika-line swords of the same rank, by about 15-20%. So, how would the combo and charge work?

1st attack: A huge overhead swing, similar to a troika charge, but without the lunge forwards. It has
a small AoE and can cause stun to a certain degree, corresponding to rank. It has strong knockback, about
the same as the second swing of a troika, maybe a bit more.

2nd attack: A broad swing, identical to the troika's 2nd swing, but a bit slower and greater knockback.

Charge: Almost identical to a troika charge, but can deal both stun AND sleep (the sleep only lasts about 2
seconds, the stun about 6) and doesn't have the afterblast effect. About the same knockback as the first swing.

Oh look this thread again. So basicly an OP version of the Torika line? how well thought out. I'm sure this is balanced and won't become the new DA or brandish. -rolls eyes-

We need fang of vog reskinned to look like a miniature vanaduke mace, not stupid cutters.

Well, it IS a fang, so why can't it look jagged?

The idea is that it's easy to evade but deals a lot of damage if you do actually land a hit.
It would probably be OP against a lot of slower monsters such as lumbers, but more agile
enemies such as wolvers, devilites and some evasive gremlins will be a bit hard to land
a hit on. The AoE of the standard attack is much smaller than a troika blast, and the charge
attack doesn't have a blast in the first place, so no double-hits.

And, of course, it'll still be useless in LD against toothpickers, who will just walk around
weilders and land cheap hits (as they do against everything else).

As if 2-3 swings of a DA/GF aren't enough to kill anything non-trojan.
Even more power in a single hit feels like "click to win"

Most monsters NEVER evade swords no matter how slow you try to be.

For me it would...

For me it would have 3 swings, like any brandish, but they should be 2 identical overhead swings, like troika's charge, only the movement, no explosions, and the last hit a sweep like troika's second hit (or first, not so different).

Of course as it is a brandish like weapon it has less damage than troika, as such it would be balanced with it and DA GF, I guess.
Even if an overhead hits only one enemy at once, they would be like Valiance vs Neutralizer =)

I also would make an alchemy path that makes you turn it into an Axe, an elemental Golden Axe that inflicts shock that would make some undying SEGA fan remember something =)

oh and also

This is for LD sword guardians? This wouldn't help you any, as it's even slower and would just result in you being hit by every toothpick under the sun before you can get a swing in.

@Klipik

The idea is that it gives you a chance to land a hit by giving you an AoE on first swing
and a chance of stunning to slow those annoying toothpickers down. But ultimately it's
not really about LD, as I hardly ever play LD.

Things which are suggested a lot are statisticaly the things which are most
likely to be added, due to there being more demand. That's how it went with
pistons and horses in Minecraft. Everyone kept asking until, eventually, they
gave it to 'em.

If they're turned down before, why would they be accepted now?

Minecraft is a completely different game, and the staff has a different behavior.

Can that not be the reason this happens?

Pets. Need I say more? Just because something gets suggested a buch of times doesn't mean it's good or should be implemented. It means people don't search before posting. The community does not always know best.

@Gent: oh, you weren't walking about LD, my bad. It's just that you said "guardian" a lot, which makes me think LD more than PvE. In that case... What Juances said. Monsters don't dodge swords much anyway, and swords already have AoE - the swing.

It isn't just how much things are wanted, but also the functionality of said items. Pistons were added because previously there was no way to move blocks, and the Piston opened up many new possibilities. Horses were added because there were few transport options. The only viable land transport was expensive, (saddled pigs were hardly viable) and the only other transports that existed involved being blasted out of a both resource and health expensive cannon, or being restricted to sea.

A mace weapon isn't needed because we already have slow weapons: Avenger, Faust, Sudaruska and Triglav. Out of those, only the Avenger is widely used. Start using the weapons that you're given, and maybe the developers might think about making more.

OK fine. If you want it to look like a fang, either change the model to be toothlike, or change the cutter line so they look totally different.

I'd like a new one-handed weapon

It is also true that we don't get a new weapon at all since.. the Crystal Bomb patch, and even then all the weapons were similiar.

So, I'd like to have a new weapon, and since we have already any type of sword what's wrong about having a mace? A different one-handed weapon for once. Knights used also maces and axes, what's wrong if Spiral Knights use them?
Even in Skyrim there are Swords Axes and Maces, and even with maces you still have also Greatswords, so Troika and Mace can exist together.
Even in Monster Hunter you had the Diablos Mace, which worked exactly as any other Sword and Shield. It was just slightly cooler because it was a spiky mace thus I had it.

A mace is not a giant sword, thus they can exist together. To me weapons aren't just functional tools, I just like them when they look cool, it doesn't matter if they're weaker than another weapon. Usage is just optional.
In fact, I have a Neutralizer, and why should I have it if not because it looks cool? =)

Ahem

No offense but Google does exist. Or, in other terms, "use the search bar before we have to kill you with it".

The search bar only works when you have ONE specific word to search, and it doesn't sort results by any logical manner...
