Steam login not working, so posting with alt

Missions can only be played in NORMAL DIFFICULTY
Disagree. I have been looking forward to trying boss missions on elite.

Brandish charge nerf
Disagree.

Revert DA charge (nobody cares about FSC wheels)
Agree partly. Something needs to be done about this. But it's broken either way (current and original mechanics). There needs to be a way for the charge to work inside the area you are fighting, even if near a wall, but not extend through the wall like an exploit. I almost never use my DA because I end up too near something, causing the charge to be canceled most of the time. The charge is what makes it special, but that is ruined for me. I just use my brandishes instead.

Don’t take away health revives
Agree. If OOO doesn't get the new revive system right, I think there may be (a lot) more SK quitters than those brought in/back for Battle Sprites and the rest. I have been joining random parties for FSC mission lately, and some of them have players that die soooo many times on every level. Most of the times I rev them, I have near full health, and then pick up more hearts before the next rev. So they are not getting one-shot killed anyhow. I guess those kinds of players will have to quit SK, because too many paid revs will ruin any profits made. (net loss?) And of course, it's not just bad players, it's people having bad lag. Some with a chronic connection, others (like me) who have occasional problems. For example, the other day at vana my screen would freeze for five seconds, then five seconds of movement, then another five second freeze, back and forth the entire duration of the level. So instead of the usual 0~1 pills used and no death, I had maybe 4 or 5 deaths (amazing it wasn't 12+ with that lag). If/when that happens again with no health revs, what can a player do? It was miserable already. -- I am curious to try out the new rev system, and see how it works for me though.

Mad bomber buff (ex. Damage high on both pieces, make negative resistances low instead of med)
One of the buffs would be fine, but not combining them.

Reduce graphical effect of Vanaduke’s Ceiling fall (cuts my FPS in half)
Hmm, maybe more graphics settings options would be good (or fix). For me the fire trap room of depth 25 makes my FPS drop noticeably some of the time, even though my desktop system should be easily OP for SK graphics. I don't know why it's inconsistent. I check the CPU and RAM meters, and they are always well below 50%. (Levels of other non-FSC runs can turn choppy for no apparent reason.)

Remove hall of heroes (detrimental to recipe selling)
Disagree. I still make good profit from some boss item recipes and decent profit on a few others.

Lockdown Loadout Glitch
Agreed! It's so annoying and ruins close matches from time wasted fighting with the UI. (I mostly quit LD, partly because of this.)

Delay LD spectator mode by 3 minutes
But we need to be able to join a group from a game we are spectating. Maybe 10 seconds would be adequate?

Auction house “marking” to keep track of items
Agree.

Teleport knights that have been afk for more than 1 minute to the party button (much like a dced party member)
Agree. That or something else to deal with it. I also like the idea of being able to vote kick the party leader if they are afk too long. Maybe sound a warning alarm on their PC for 30 seconds after everyone votes them out (with an option in settings to turn off the alarm).

new BN and LD maps
Yes.

OPTIMIZE. THE. GAME.
Agree. I have a desktop PC with i7 @3.2Ghz, ATI HD 5850, 750 watt PSU. Anti-Aliasing is turned off (because LD got way too laggy with it on). I think that should be enough to run the game consistently smooth, but SK gets choppy some of the time. (Other times its fine in same area of same map.)

Ignore chat types
Agree.

Lockdown Training room in Guild Training Hall ... Monster Training room
Either one could be cool. But, it sounds like it might be impractical, especially the LD and boss parts.

Post #3 option to search for a certain UV type on the Auction House
Ahh, that would make it so much easier. (I have wished for this many times.) But maybe the idea is it would be too easy?

funny. Let's go over this again

@worknplay
'Spiral Knights is actually meant to be one of these online games you don't and can't hardcore grind. Such field of opportunities for botting and infinite payouts is just completely unreal and potentially lethal to the game."
Don't and can't hardcore grind? I have over 70 days worth of playtime GRINDING fsc.
also, I apologise about this one, I forgot to write that there is no payout and heat. I'll update it. This is simply a way to let people play even after their mist has run out, to keep them entertained with the game. I, for one, would be fascinated if I could just roam the surface and look at cool maps and designs. However, this is COMPLETELY different from how the game works right now, and that's why I asked for feedback on my ideas.

No need to tell me to quit the game, bud. Or insult me about my apparent high standards for a game that I've stuck with for over 2 years.

"The first intent in PvP is certainly to bring players out of their well established guild routines; the current Lockdown population is fairly low as of today; I'm not even mentionning Blast Network's; that would just overkill PvP as a whole."

You have a point here, perhaps the "free for all" playing would be too fun (and chaotic) for people and they won't play in the RLD queue. However, I think OOO would take that into account if they made a LD training room. at least let me screw around with my striker boost.

"How does one takes any risk in this game if he gets to train beforehand on any clockworks theme? On a game which you certainly find easy since you're 2 years old here how does this make the content any more interesting? It rather sounds like it would spoil it, a lot."
I hardly think that anything in the game is challenging anymore. why not spawn 3 vanadukes, 2 snarbies and 97 howlitzers to satisfy my needs? Also, if you want to get good at something, you practice. If you find it boring, DON'T DO IT.

"Now that sure sounds like some complicated, useless, antisocial, dodgy, complicated (again, felt like saying it twice to stress on the complicated part) feature that just aims to aim the eternally unsatisfied players on such points as AT, UV's or trinkets. Banning variants from the game where one's strength only comes from skills and variants, does that sound any logical to you?"

How complicated is it? Creating a lobby and inviting people to play. Much like a mission. If you played LD as much as some of the community, you would also want a fair fight. In fact, there have been many tournaments that banned AT. Many guilds complain about CE rezing, AT, Uv's, trinkets, etc.. Now I'm giving people a chance to fight a fair fight.

Also, banning variants from the game where ones strength only comes from skill and variants. Of course it sounds logical to me!
Skill + variants = power
Skill + variants - variants = power - variants
skill = power - variants
Therefore, the only way to measure skill is to take out variants, and to see how much power you can output. It's that simple, unless you forgot to take elementary school math.

"These are things you want changed about the game without a slight concern for wether this would make the game better for everyone or not"

This just makes me think that you're flaming, so I won't even reply to this. I want feedback, not some brat making assumptions about my motives.

Polaris is easily the most spammable and easy to use weapon in the game, with a incredibly high damage output.

WOO another one that'll kill my sides. 10x the amount? 27-29k for a 5* weapon is 2k-4k more. the HOH and missions remove ANY reason to go into the arcade, which kills the game.

"2 or more".. buddy, if you're not good enough to go for a 2v1, don't do it. 2 or more means TEAMWORK, and obviously they will beat you....... don't complain because you get ganked, it's strategy

The useless mats were put in

The useless mats were put in by other people (who didn't read) so letting us NPC stuff that can't be used won't break anything, and it won't all go to waste at least. And I don't mean spontaneous as in a wild Gremlin appeared in Haven and kills you. xD More like unannounced until about one hour or so that a mob is coming or something similar. Just to give people something refreshing.

@Old

It's entirely possible that those two guardians were actually just better than you. In my experience as guardian, at an even skill level they are:

-evenly matched to strikers in 1v1
-completely hopeless in 1v2 or more
-only good at supporting (defending/healing/holding points) without bombs for a few seconds.

So whereas strikers can fulfill their main role (interception, capping[in theory], and dps) as well as fight well in any situation, guardians are not as effective in their intended role (defense/support/tank), as well as being not as effective in as many combat situations. A buff to the shield strength, change in shield mechanics, or adding an ability like shield bash would all help to solve this imbalance.

@This Guardian Buff Thingy: Slightly different idea.

@Redblades There is the

@Redblades
There is the (your) problem; this game isn't pure skills grinding. A good player knows that he has to work on skills and gears if he's gonna want to beat the game and it's players (in PvP). I can't really delve deep in arguing AT. What I saw from the moment LD started is a small bunch of mainstream guild players could obviously not bear the fact they were losing to players of "lower status" and well..had to find something to justify their defeat. Hence begun the devilizing of a feature that litterally changes nothing to one's playstyle given he's already a good player: AT.
As for the practice part; this game is free-to-play indeed; but that doesn't mean every cards should be in the players' hand to do whatever he wants for free. Missions already contributed to driving players away from using clockworks; I can't begin to imagine what mobs training rooms would result in. Empty haven and clockworks?

"Hahahahahahaha, no. It's the best sword for crowd control. The most I'd accept is removing one explosion of each, not two."
notice why it's overpowered and overused?

I don't think it's overpowered, and here's why;

Most of the damage from a Brandish charge comes from the initial swing; if you do a test to rely solely on the explosions while doing, say... a Royal Jelly run, you don't do as much damage and it'll take another charge or two to take mobs down. Even now it still takes a few hits to kill mobs in a 4 man team and doing it solo will only OHKO mobs if they were hit by that swing; it just does a little more damage than a multihitting Lev Blade charge, plus a Status depending on what Element it is. The only two 5* Brandishes which could possibly be considered "overpowered" are the Combuster and Acheron, which allow mobs to "ride the wave" and receive full damage from each explosion, plus Fire in the Combuster's case. Shock on Voltedge and Freeze on Glacius stops mobs in their tracks when afflicted by their respective statuses by the explosions, and actually reduces damage.

Rather than unnecessarily nerfing the charge, allow a moment of vulnerability at the end of the charge to encourage performing them strategically. The Flourish, Cutter and all Heavy Swords have that Vulnerability moment as does the Brandish, but the Brandish's can be shield-cancelled.

Polaris is easily the most spammable and easy to use weapon in the game, with a incredibly high damage output.

When you disagree with someone you don't be rude to them when explaining why you disagree, just sayin'. Kind of hurts your own arguement.

You notice that the Polaris is spammable, therefore you should know that it's easy for a player's shots to miss because of the knockback, and that reduces the DPS of the weapon. The Polaris is actually pretty poor in terms of damage output when spammed and is practically nonexistant when used against Beasts and Gremlins. It only has a high damage output when you use it properly; when enemies are pushed against walls and you go all-out on it, and on static enemies such as Gun Puppies, so really it all depends on how you use it. Sure it's easy to use, but it's difficult to master.

A damage nerf is not the solution, the only thing I see wrong with it is the excessive knockback and the blindingly explosive shots. But if the knockback won't ever get nerfed, perhaps reducing the clip to 2 shots is a viable solution? When I use it I only use one shot to avoid excessive spamming and DPS loss anyway. Removing that one shot could make all the difference.

____

"The idea behind HoH was to give players a reason to do missions and earn the right to buy recipes at their actual price rather than one costing 10x the amount because a player got greedy. Boss reward recipes aren't available at HoH so go for those."

WOO another one that'll kill my sides. 10x the amount? 27-29k for a 5* weapon is 2k-4k more. the HOH and missions remove ANY reason to go into the arcade, which kills the game.

Okay maybe my multiplier was a bit exaggerated but it's not without a hint of truth (and it's more like 35k-40k, not 29k).

It's still profitable to buy recipes from Basil to sell at the AH, particuarly Boss Reward recipes. Sure, a portion of the market was rendered obsolete, but there'll always be players looking for a specific recipe but haven't unlocked the HoH to get it, all you have to do is buy the more popular equipment recipes and someone will buy it. I manage to sell recipes just fine, and so do a majority of the players in my Guild. I think you're just doing something wrong.

The one thing I dislike about players on any game with an in-game economy is when they don't adapt to the in-game market when changes are introduced, and they get complacent because they don't know any other way to turn over a profit. Some might even resort to claiming that a new change is killing the game. I see it all the time.

@Voza-Il
How come I can play a 3D space shooter PvP game with 15 other people in huge maps with jetpacks and pretty great graphics

Spiral knights has pretty terribad network optimization (all the customizability that our armor has and it's constantly being updated and sent to everyone else whenever we change our equipment) but graphics optimization is done alright. Note that the bigger a game gets (RAM and resource-wise etc) when written in java, the exponentially more trashy it becomes. And C++? Over generations of being refined and used frequently on a worldwide scale, it's come to be pretty much one of the most stable languages out there. I think OOO had to go with Java due to how easy it is to cross-platform.
I know Grantgalitz could probably put in more words than me on this matter, he seems to be into all that.

@Hyper-Galactic
@Hexzyle my laptop can run high settings of wow at a solid 60 fps
Erm, wasn't World of Warcraft released early last decade? That's like saying you can max UT2004.

@Battlegrinder
We survived without the HoH before. What makes you think we can't do it again? Recipes were only ~15-20% more expensive than their HoH counterparts. You say it'll "reduce diversity" but before the HoH was added, every single recipe for every weapon was always on the Auction House: not to mention there are more players now than there was back then. And unlike the current boss recipe prices, you didn't have to pay 13k for a Twisted Snarble Barb Recipe (3*)

@Redblades
SK lagged like CRAZY for me (especially the vana "ceiling fall")
I do agree that that needs to be fixed, I've heard various complaints about it (and FSC is the only place where I get lower framerates, excluding that dumb offscreen particle effects in Haven)
Anyway, although minecraft runs in java as well, it uses far less polygons, textures and particle effects.

Also, serious about gaming?
What I mean was, having a larger selection of games. I stuck with a rubbish tin-can until recently because I was fine with playing games that didn't exceed the graphical requirements of Unreal Tournament 2004, Torchlight I, or Counter Strike 1.6. (or TF2 running at 3 frames per second)
If I went back to that now, I would tear my hair out at the frustration.

many people who have spent thousands of ce (including myself and many friends) will be upset
Um. Too bad?
Change requires sacrifice.

what's the point of making it open then? if you don't want people to hang in your fancy guild hall, lock it.

You didn't get my point. What I was saying was one of the reasons why it automatically locks when the last member logs off is because it's not needed. This prevents players from creating a guild hall, decking it out, and then leaving it permanently open as a "Second Haven". Town Square is supposed to be the place where everyone (especially those without a guild) returns to.
Either that or its due to a lack of administrative options available to guild owners, so to prevent mischief makers, everyone is kicked out once there is no-one online to watch over the hall.

If RSS is broken because it "serves the purpose of a gun"...
No-one said that, so your quotation marks are falsely used.

cause I have to be p2p to suggest things, right?

I never said that. I meant you should understand what you're suggesting about before suggesting it. If you're trying to suggest things from the test server, you're no different from that person who just started playing and wants to suggest spear dual-wielding flamethrowing vehicle pets with rapid energy regeneration.

but i was defending the creativity of people like redblades

Sorry, but if you've spent as much time on the Suggestions subforum as I have, you'd know that what redblades posted in the OP is as far from creativity as I am from the nearest can of green peas. (not saying the thread is "bad", I'm just saying it's "pretty much a summary of everything in the suggestions forum". If Redblades needs to be vindicated and defended, he seems perfectly capable of doing it himself. Argue against the points made, don't just call them "nonsense", "wrong", or "not what the majority wants" because you don't like them.

Worst suggestion for a weapon I've ever heard. If you nerf the gun even further it'd be useless. Had you said "knockback nerf" I'd have agreed.

Ah yeah, true that. The issue is not about the damage it deals, it's about how any braindead person can use it to deadly effect.

Obviously they should add a courtroom floor where Spiral Legal Knights shout "OBJECTION" while making epic finger points and sudden, new evidence completely changes the judge's opinion an average of two to three times every case. Furthermore, when you're about to find a Pit Boss guilty, this music should play.

Okay, I'm kidding. Really, Three Rings should just stop fixing what isn't broken (like a few things on the Test Server which I cannot mention because otherwise I might be banned) and start coming up with more levels. Or a level editor. Or both.

"put in by other people (who didn't read)"
They didn't read. done.
"More like unannounced until about one hour or so that a mob is coming or something similar. Just to give people something refreshing."
I would rather a mass-scale event where you could choose to press a "defend haven" button and teleport to a "haven under attack" map.

@worknplay
"Missions already contributed to driving players away from using clockworks; I can't begin to imagine what mobs training rooms would result in"
Well, for one, I wouldn't play a game just to murder everything and not get rewarded. There are already multiple training rooms, which let you "practice" and would, by your logic, make the game boring. It's like playing minecraft, killing mobs, and not saving your world. It doesn't do anything, and people only do it once a month just for fun.

"A good player knows that he has to work on skills and gears if he's gonna want to beat the game and it's players (in PvP)"
I'm not suggesting to completely remove the gear factor. that'd be ridiculous. You still need to combine the right gear to hit that "sweet spot" of what you want your role to be in the game. However, take Huntr for an example. He has a divine set (comes with shock, fire, curse immunity) with stun, freeze and poison max on both pieces. He's immune to ALL bombs, and renders bombing completely obsolete when in a game of lockdown.
Such gear is not achievable without EXTREME luck (lottery luck) if you're f2p. even if you're moderately p2p and spent 100$ on this game, there is NO way you can get gear like that. It's simply numerically impossible. Which is why, I'm suggesting a feature to turn off unique variants. Of course, I'm not asking for gear restrictions, that's just stupid.

And I can. read up one of my 625 threads about AT and the LD community.

"I think the Brandish is perfect the way it is!"
too bad it's overpowered. I am a proud owner of a brandish with asi high. add my chaos set and swiftstrike, bam VH damage, max ctr, max asi. Even with only the CTR, the explosions do a ton of damage. Not to mention that they inflict a powerful status (except acheron. cause curse acheron = even more op)
Contrary to what some of the people think, the charge swing does only about 700 damage, while the explosions do ~200 each. multiply by 5, and that's more than your swing. hurrdurr

@misty
ah, so you were the person I was referring to in the reply above. read that.

"A damage nerf is not the solution, the only thing I see wrong with it is the excessive knockback and the blindingly explosive shots."
Perhaps you should open your eyes. Polaris renders gun puppies, slimes... well, everything in the game (except gremlins) obsolete with the high damage output, relative high fire rate, and knockback. not to mention an interrupting shock.
Polaris with the un-expanded pellet does more damage than my storm driver, and seems to shock more often. Yes, they serve different purposes, but Polaris is a CC weapon. CC should not do insane amounts of damage. CC is supposed to do knockback and shock, but the shock is a little excessive (and it also removes invincibility frames in LD, allowing for even more damage)

"Sure, a portion of the market was rendered obsolete"
exactly. it's like saying "oh, sure we killed 90% of the humans on earth, but the last 10% are now worth more! hehehehehe"

"always be players looking for a specific recipe but haven't unlocked the HoH to get it"
with the coming update, they will not be able to equip them. now the recipes are even MORE obsolete.

"It's still profitable to buy recipes from Basil to sell at the AH, particuarly Boss Reward recipes."
I would love to see you do that with regular recipes. Show me a video of you constantly selling normal recipes for a decent price.

"Some might even resort to claiming that a new change is killing the game. I see it all the time."
It's not killing the game. it just made "a portion of the market obsolete"
you said that yourself.

@hex
"automatically locks when the last member logs off is because it's not needed."
Exactly why I dont like it. I have an alt guild, and I like the guildhall. however, I have to log onto my other account to be able to chill in it? really? come on now.

"No-one said that, so your quotation marks are falsely used."
I use quotation marks anywhere. if you noticed, I only put quotes so I can refer to them, but I don't really quote them in my replies.

"I meant you should understand what you're suggesting about before suggesting it"
And I have to be p2p to get on the test server. case closed.

"Um. Too bad?
Change requires sacrifice."
The RSS change made many bombers quit the game. Another event like that, and the game would become even more unstable.

"No red them guardians were not really good in lockdown.."
It's not straight up about skill. If your weakness is guardians that have a decent amount of attack speed and a shield that can block, YOU need to work on it. the only reason I'm so persistent about the buff is because I have played as a guardian, and against many guardians. Guardian is now the weakest class in LD (recon buff was good). All I'm suggesting is for a slight buff (so 1 gran faust combo doesn't decimate it), and a better healing ability for more sustain.

The RSS was stupid in the first place, and was left like that so long that everyone came to think it's normal. Chaos was buffed to stupidity, everyone knows it's stupid, and we've lived with it before it became stupid. Nerfing it will cause both owners and non-owners of the gear to say "finally!".
Only those who don't give a damn about game balance because they're gaining from the unbalance (or those who believe that it's balanced now) would say otherwise.

I have the same setup. What about adding a system to pay crowns to keep the guildhall open. Then that acts as a crownsink, that pays for the resources OOO spends on keeping it open. When it's closed and no-one is in it, the Guildhall is unloaded from server memory.

+1 to UI Option!

I [jolly well] hate the new UI and those item icons, they look so awful. It just doesn't fit with the game, you know? I prefer the old UI, simple and clear.
