That still does not change my initial argument. Whether you're on the selling or buying end doesn't make a difference - you're taking a risk. How this now applies to the buyer simply comes down to observation, they've re-introduced items in the past and as such are likely to do so again. To use Steam sales an example: the buyer can either get a game when it comes out, or they can wait out until a sale comes up for it and get it cheaper. As I said in my first post; you pay for the privelege of obtaining the item on-demand.

I worked my rear off to

buy a pair of valk wings before this promo.

I'm not at all offended though. OOO never said that these items would never be reintroduced. The players assumed that they wouldnt.

I am very sorry for the players that paid a lot for them in order to stockpile and sell at a massive profit later, but to be completely frank, charging 20k CE for a -single- virtual shiny, which is about sixty dollars US, feels just as wrong to me as this rerelease feels to other players.

At the end of the day though, Three rings decides what and when they will rerelease items. I'm sure that at some point the inaccessibility of accessories to newer players must have gotten to them, because pricing at 20kCE per item was working for some sellers. That CE has to come from somewhere.

I looked at the pris valk wing price, bit my lip a little, then bought a pris halo. My feels are not caught. carry on.

Yea, this.

It's really just about whether or not you feel it's worth getting it now or later. Is the enjoyment of having the item for a period of time worth more than the time it will take for it to become cheap?

I was considering this earlier this year. Should I buy this game now? Or wait for the Steam summer sales? I figured I'd buy it and enjoy the game for the two - three months before the sale. But even after the sale, I don't feel it has lessened the value of the game. The content is the same. It's just that more people probably has it.

Besides, even though the item may not be worth as much crowns as it did when you bought it, it really shouldn't matter. Practically, the only thing you lost was the right to claim your uniqueness and being able to say "Hell, these cost me 50K CE yo." Bling bling.

Hello, Ezduzitt and

Hello, Ezduzitt and Hellohippo - 2 of my favorite forumers.

Three Rings never has announced things like this ahead of time. They probably have some reason for that, but I have no idea what it is. I'm not much of a merchanter, but buying and selling is a fun and nearly unavoidable part of the game if you're trying to acquire some wealth in game as opposed to buying it with cash. Consequently most long time players have probably been burned like this before.

As stated above, the real pain is felt by those who have recently purchased these accessories from anywhere at much, much higher prices. I'm betting many of these players were not hoarding or investing, but simply wanted a really cool accessory. They got burned badly for making a good faith purchase, and my heart goes out to them even if they felt it was worth the money at the time.

[Edit] I forgot to mention that i was super-thrilled to get prismatic valkyrie and dragon wings as well as a prismatic halo so cheaply. And, yes, I had to buy some CE to do it.

Oh, I was also able to pick up a Sprinkle Aura for 400k while I was in a buying mood. Isn't that cheap for one of those? Where are they coming from?

Good, I hope people got

Good, I hope people got shafted.

Pretty sure a lot of the people who -are- complaining are the ones who, A) spent an extreme amount of CE on something so minimal, which is a fundamental flaw of judgment on their part; B) Veterans within the game who feel cheated for having the items that marked them as long-time players become so marginally reduced to where you currently can't tell who was and was not around for anything; or C) players who solely buy mass quantities of a specific promo just to cash it out later as opposed to their genuine interest in the item itself, in which case Runescape and WoW are probably more your schtick.

If you fall into any of those categories, then congratulations this sale isn't up your alley. I certainly don't find this upsetting at all and I say this knowing full well that there's been times where I've qualified for all of the above options I listed before.

The items were put up to give newer players and older players alike something to get with the CE they probably had laying around (the latter more obviously having money stockpiled from runs). To be blunt, the sale is probably working more efficiently than a random promo - this one gives you the option to pick your poison, so to speak. It also gives the game a huge CE sink, which OOO simply did not have after they removed costs of elevators entirely. And last but not least, because of the demand for CE now, a lot of people are going to be wanting to buy CE off of other people to get stuff from the depot, so there's in essence another transaction right there that's keeping the game economy flowing. It's also encouraging people to do more runs to keep up with the crown prices for CE, which is in turn getting people back into the Clockworks instead of idling in Haven. At the end of the day, the only people who are genuinely screwed are merchants hoarding for no apparent reason and people who bought high - that's a marginally small group compared to the vast majority that I've talked to who are happy as a @*($^*#ed clam.

Basically, the chances of this promo effectively killing the market for these items is incredibly slim. By November/December the market will be just as dried up as before in terms of locating these items, simply because the merchants who do invest in this are just going to hold those items until they can sell for a "profit" again, which just helps to prompt a repeat of the cycle.

Can I sit down? The sky keeps swirling around.

Last I checked, there was no guarantee that these items would never go on sale ever again (barring the first Rose Sets), though it was very surprising to see the method of their return.

I suspect OOO is testing the waters to see if they get more money from Random Prize Boxes or from allowing players to cherry-pick what they want at (potentially) quadruple the cost.

Also I'm one of those people who have 10+ dragon and valk wings stocked before this update, though I'm not exactly using them as profit, more as leverage for other trades. I think I'm okay with this update.

People should also view this

People should also view this as a sign of things to come. THIS is how a FTP game SHOULD function, by offering shiny accessories to people who are willing to spend money on the game. I would bet OOO was taking notes on other FTP successes over the past year, because other games that offer awesome accessories for ~$10-$20 each make a killing off it, and people end up happy. This is good for the game's long term health. I would like to see NEW items in there soon, but I am also not opposed to seeing the best old accessories.

"Here have promotional items that might be reintroduced at our leisure"

You know because they are promotional... and we kept making new one for so long... but now we just pour rare expensive stuff that you had to get to end-game in order to get.

"it's just cosmetic it's useless"

You weren't there when gray SK was there w/o accessories, they aren't useless. You just couldn't afford back then so it was useless for you... but now everyone has dem...

No one is reading what I wrote.... Such a shame. This isn't just about the sellers, but the BUYERS as well.

This... Buying limited edition promotional items means nothing to us now. OOO can re-introduce anything at anytime, we just witness it.

BTW we can loot ghostly aura from mewkat now... why are they in the depot? what's the point of even making it lootable if we can simply buy it with a click?

Edit: Maybe this should be a lesson for these 'rare item' merchants to set reasonable prices in the future?

I hope you realize that the price of everything else that isn't in the depot just sky-rocketed? And that buyer also buy em at that price, White Rose set wouldn't sell that high if people wouldn't buy it at that price... that's how an economy rolls... offer and demands... We had lots of demands, no offer, now it's lots of offer and no demand. 3 pages of wings at AH... 1 full page of prisma halo... lol

Hey OOO, can you put Extra Vertical Vents up next? I'll buy two!

I can definitely understand where you're all coming from. I'm not rich enough for this to effect me personally though.

I'd just like to point out (again, because let's be honest, none of us are reading all these posts) that the majority of players simply don't have enough crowns/energy to waste it on such expensive cosmetic items; These items aren't going to become something everyone is wearing. Not only that, but once they're bound, they're bound. So there will always be room in the market for more.

And, unlike the Regilia sets where we were told about them being a one time thing, no one ever said these items wouldn't suddenly appear for cheaper. You took a risk, and you lost. That's part of the game. If you were rich enough to buy and hold onto a bunch of these, chances are your rich enough not to whine quite so much.

All the grind done in the

All the grind done in the past 756 hours of gameplay, nullifield by 20€ energy purchase. I am completely done with this bull[waste]. Before you move on to insulting me at least hear me out

Nerfing the enemies even in tier3 and elite mode, elite mode being just bullet sponge simulation trivializing any skillful gameplay. Adding dash was great, with a new tool like that you should have INCREASED the difficulty later on but no, slags can't grab, slags can be dodged with a simple sidestep completely trivializing any challenge with them, same goes for alpha wolvers and retrodes. Completely nerfed to a point where you can avoid all damage by walking around. The daily missions are hard, yes, but they are just a gear check aside from LoA. With 100% status resistance to the hazard of the day you can just walk through the mission and there's no challenge. Compare that to FSC and even with fire immunity you can get your ass handed to you.

This dumbing down of gameplay really killed it for me gameplay-wise but at least there were the accessory market and exclusive content that kept me playing. With the most recent update that goes out of the window as well. Now new paying users are indistinguishable from old users who have spent hundreds of hours into the game in order to unlock everything and grind themselves enough cash to get the rarest accessories. Not anymore. Pay 20 bucks and play the missions once and you are indistinguishable from a person who's seen all the content, played through all the runs and defeated every boss multiple times. Even the shadow lairs, most interesting content in the game, is locked behind a huge paywall. It was super expensive back then and now even more so, locking away the only runs where the the combat actually got me excited anymore. I thought I had enough when they made all the gear purchasable via CE, that killed the market of 5* weapons and armor in the auction house but at least there were the accessories but that's gone as well.

I understand that the business model was not sustainable without energy costs and player rates were probably slowly dripping away before that but I hoped you would find some other way...

I think this is it, I see no reason to come back to this game anymore. It was a fun run we had, had some great times with my guildmates and friends over the years.

Yep, because 20 bucks automatically gives a new player all the fame, friends, guild rank, trust status from the community, knowledge, experience and skills that a veteran player built over several hundred hours of gameplay. Indistinguishably so.

Uuni, no matter how many cash

Uuni, no matter how many cash grabs they put into the game they still haven't released ANYTHING of substance and that was why I quit over a year ago. They did one DLC pack and that was from Feb 2012 along with the Shadow Lairs which were a complete rager for low end players with little to no money in game. I stopped pouring money into OOO because they were not giving me a return and the return I was expecting was better gameplay and new additions to the game whether it be new DLC, bosses or lairs.

I know most MMO type games are repetitive, but seriously more missions, some dash mechanic and pets are all they managed in the past 1+ year I have been gone? There is a reason you don't see many Veteran players on here anymore and that is there is nothing to keep them around along with the costume players since all they have done is recycle accessories them via Featured AH. They keep dumping in cash grabs and haven't put out a single thing to show for it. I'm going off topic though...

To the awful trolls, you do not realize just how much these players who purchase rare accessories/items actually dump into OOO. The buyers of these items aren't always grinding for Crystal Energy/Trading games etc, but purchase a lot of their CE from OOO. Why should a player who has been saving up or buying their way to rare accessories put any more money or time into this game with these types of tactics by OOO? They are a large part of the income for OOO, they don't have advertisements or a subscription based gameplay, so wake up they're the majority of contributing players. Disregard the merchant aspect of it entirely and look at the BUYERS. Wake up this is a two way street and not just about Merchants.

AGAIN NOT COMPLAINING SINCE I DON'T EVEN PLAY THIS GAME ANYMORE. I am simply stating my opinion on an open forum.

When accessories came out you had players spending upwards of 100k+ CE on costumes, now it's just something that is meaningless to OOO. Not enough revenue? Screw it instead of adding something new we'll recycle all these rare accessories. Ehhh too bad you spent 50k+ on rare accessories we do what we want and don't care if we lose you permanently. Follow what I'm getting at?

It used to be so that you couldn't get all the best gear and accessories without friends, guildies, experience and several hundred hours of gameplay. Why should I work for any of those things if anyone can bypass the whole thing with a small purchase? It would have been different if that had been the mentality from the get go, now it just feels shitty that I spent all that time and effort and what I have left in the end is nothing. I have my memories of the good times, yes, and I appreciate that, I just wish it didn't end in such a kick-in-the-teeth way

It has not all been cash grabs. They added mission system which was supposed to get new players to stick with the game and not quit instantly when their starting mist ran out. They tried making the arcade less of an issue because it used to take a lot more mist to get to vanaduke before the mission system. They streamlined and dumbed down the gameplay in order to keep people interested long enough to make a purchase. Apparently it didn't work as intended so they had to remove the mist completely to keep people playing. At this point we have a streamlined, dumbed-down version of the original product that has very few ways of monetizing. They hoped that shadow lairs would have kept people buying ce, it failed, it was way overpriced for even the lategame players. A non-profitable run that costs a fortune to manage and organize. It was a nice concept but the price was just too high for it to be sustainable

I spent a lot of money into this game over the years. It didn't make me rich but it got me started, I made myself a fortune by playing the game and trading up my stuff for profit. It took a lot of time and connections to have access to the rare stuff, now all you need is a couple thousand CE which is nowhere near the prices this stuff cost as new back in the days. All the exclusive and rare stuff is behind a small paywall. I do understand how this was a financially good move at least in short-term. All the stuff less dedicated users had looked up to over the past years is now available for just a few dollars, of course they will buy it right away if they have the chance. Too bad this causes absolutely unfathomable amounts of inflation. What's the point of having a ton of money if you can buy nothing with it? Well, I had no money, I had valuables, the have no value anymore. I felt that it was the safest way of keeping my money, crown and CE prices fluctuated from time to time, rarities were on a fairly steady rise of value

A dick move from their part, all I can say

I'm also interested in hearing from a GM on this (but when don't we want them to respond?). But keep in mind that the "backlash" is really from quite a small percentage of people. Many, many more are just happy to get things on sale.

I agree. The people who got royally screwed over were the tiny amount of people who stored their fortune in accessories and now lost pretty much everything. For majority of people this is only a positive upgrade. I don't even mind seeing rare accessories in the shop that much, I guess I just feel really frustrated about losing my fortune on a whim like that in a way that's completely out of my influence. One day just log in and see all your money gone

this is ridiculous. my friend bought pris valks a couple weeks ago for 60kce. that's more than 15 of them now.
The problem isn't a sale. it's the fact that they're at a fixed price and you can get virtually unlimited amounts of them.
If there was a sale that came with s@#$ ton of boxes that contained the sale items, I wouldn't mind it as much. But supply depot? really......

also,
"Hey if you wanted to make money on the items you've been hoarding you should have sold them. The trade chat has been filled with players looking for these items and you greedy bastards wont sell them. So thankfully OOO gave the players what they wanted...items you're not selling. Now we all can hoard them forever until OOO again puts them on sell for far cheaper than you greedy bastards will. Just goes to show what I've always been saying....an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it so all you hoarders just lost out big for one reason....you're too greedy!"

"greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy" "greedy"

It's not about greed you ignorant piece of excrement, it's about how ridiculously priced these prized accessories are at, and how they can be bought whenever.

It is bad luck. But keep in mind that your money is not actually gone. You still have all your rare accesories, and people will still buy them when this sale is over. Not for quite as much perhaps, but it's not like you're going to end up broke.

@Ezduzitt
I'm fairly certain that one of the reasons OOO doesn't feel rushed to put out new content is because so many people are willing to drop large amounts of cash on cosmetics. If people didn't, and demanded more content instead of shinies, then OOO would probably put some out. But why do more work for less money? I'd love to see some new DLC. I would pay good money for some proper DLC. But from a buisness perspective, these kind of sales tend to be much more profitable. And profits are need to pay the people working on the content.

OOO should compensate the

OOO should compensate the players with existing prismatech cat tails, valkryie wings, dragon wings, ect.. With CE of course, and a complimentary new accessory that looks even cooler. Metal Dragon Wings anyone?

All this does is change the

All this does is change the market from hoarders to focus on otger rarer stuff. All the people who speent tons of ce....sucks i gotta say. But it enciurages people with a life to play the gane and make it easier toclook decent, instead of seeing that one geek in haven with full hubter/surge/prismatic stuff.

You assume that all the veteran players are rich hoarders :P
There's plenty of us who have managed to keep ourselves perpetually broke.

I'm a veteran since 2011, and honestly, I love this sale.
