What about a stun shield?!
I like the idea behind the new drops. How will they work? Is it 10 seconds of status protection or is it actually a Dracon-based offensive shield? Does it have health or is it timed?
I think the material-finder is a great idea. The random stratums will also be a nice change from poison/freeze w/ undead and fiends.
The pickups are likely consumables, like Mecha Knight Kits or Pills.

The only thing I see with this is making Shadow Lairs available to anyone without having to beat the previous ones, because each module and echo stone contribute to their part of the story of Alpha Squad in order.

Also, Hexzyle's idea was "implemented" in a way.
This is a pretty impressive effort to bring the game up to speed on all fronts. They're averaging about an update every week which is appreciated.
Hopefully we get Attack and Defense Orb Buffs soon too.
Looking forward to future Lockdown and PVP updates, even though I know it is not a major priority. (And it really shouldn't be.)

Hmm, removing SL clearance and tier clearance. Well it was kinda useless due to the mission system, but I wonder if that allows players to wander into areas too deep. I also wonder if that means I can finally purchase a kat helm :D
Tier clearance still exists, just using rank as it has been for some time. The UI for 'Tier Clearance' has simply been removed as it's redundant with other UI.

I wasn't aware of the switch. I remember looking at something or rather for the Knight progression before missions and there were 5 properties, 2 for tier, 2 for shadow lair, and one for haven clearance. I thought those were being removed just now, but you're saying those 5 properties have been integrated into the 50 or so missionCompleted properties?
So part of this patch is just cleaning up loose ends from the original Mission patches, and the more recent equipment lock...
I wonder how much neater the UI is now...

It makes me one happy cheese. I am curious as to how the new pickups will act. The material finder is a nice touch, as well as now gunslingers can now break frozen knights. It's the little stuff like this that shows that you guys still care. And a video when a new player is creating? I have to check that out. Overall, it looks like a nice update, keep up the good work.

Already sent* in a bug report, but on low graphics the Cap'n's final text block in the prologue doesn't show up--just looks like he burped up a large, white triangle.
I'm still just amused that stuff from the forum RP is apparently cannon now. xD

I think this was a very nice patch because now the story of Spiral Knights is explained better than before, but when will the Dark Harvest Festival come another year to Haven?

I always thought the shape in the "A" of "Spiral Knights" was a Leviathan Blade, but maybe the Skylark was sitting there all along! O.O

I liked, no... LOVED the new Prologue video and watched it! It really defines how our adventures started on Cradle! It really explains about, well, everything, and it truly answers our questions that we have been asking and have been around for long! I requested for a new prologue intro to the game before there was one not too long ago, and now, even though it's somehow envisioned differently from what I thought, it's somewhat exactly what I asked for! It's almost like an all-new mini-motion-action-comic for Spiral Knights... but, only without the voiceovers. Sorry. I'm just full of excitement after seeing that new video. Now, if it were to be fully voiced over by some well known veteran voice actors, which I would like to hear, one day soon, then it would breathe more life into the prologue, and we would all be... well, more excited and happy than before! That's all I could say about it.
Also, nice to see the Arcade getting a nice big renovation, and it's only just begun. I wonder how Phase 2 of the Arcade renovation will turn out? I know nobody won't bother answering, but it will be amazing.
And, nice to see some more new changes and improvements made with them.
One question, though, Nick, if you've time to answer, or any GM can, if you please. Will we get to find Captain Ozlo and see him in person in the game someday? I would really like to meet him soon... and, of course, find the rest of his crew, too!
One problem i see with the option to now change your name is that some people have alts with highly sought after names that are there for the sole purpose of holding that name. There would need to be some system to prove that person is an alt, and have their name changed so someone who actually plays the game could get the name they wanted.
Captain Ozlo is a naval captain? I'd always assumed he was a marine captain, which always raised the question of why he was in command of such a large force. I suppose this explains it. He looks great, by the way.
OK, minor detail out of the way. Am I correct in hearing we have deployable sentry guns now?
Also, these ... barrier ... usables, whatever they're called. As a Drakon user I'm somewhat concerned about being marginalized.

The lore that comes with the new prologue fits PERFECTLY with my story lore... :O Heck, this is pretty much what I invented happened for my stories. Dem awesome coincidences. Finally, an update where I don't have to change my lore to make it fit.
The missile strikes and the Recon Rangers are very cool, but yeah, the barriers seem like a mistake.
I see many good things in our spiral futures...
