I don't think you got the message so I'll just spell it out for you.
Generalisation and predjuice is wrong. It's the reason behind a big number of tragedies throughout history. I'll even present my opinion on it and say that it's the greatest source of evil in the real world.
Is there anything the community WON'T complain about?
Wait, is fourth degree burns the hottest, or 1st degree burns? People say fourth degree burns are the lightest, but I still hear some people say 1st degree burns are the lightest.
What have YOU done for the game? Echo of Silence did a lot to keep Spiral Knights alive. You and your "guild" did nothing. Do you think YOU should be the ones that have the right to be the ones in control of PvP? No. The ones who work hard to keep their favourite game alive deserve it. You do not, because you did nothing at all. This is why I hate people who are greedy. They don't do any work for others and always suck the fun out of something like a $200 fishing rod hooker.
Okay, the Jemps are considered a rowdy bunch, but they dump a lot of cash for the SK team. Aruined PvP is better than a ruined game.
What have I done for the game? Not much for it, except for spending something like $75 or so on it in total during my two and a half years with as well as contributing heavily to Energy consumption by crafting a ton of swords and plenty of other gear. I have done a lot for the community, though. Here are a few things:
- I've monitored The Arsenal subforum for probably close to a year by now. There's no topic that passes there without me reading it and I answer said topic if it's within my ability and no one beat me to it.
- I've been made one of the longest running Q&A threads, Ask a Striker anything, since April last year. It originally started out as a troll thread following the shennanigans of Zeddy's Ask a Shadow Defender anything thread but over the months, my thread has partially turned into a very serious advice thread and I've helped plenty of knights on their way.
- Mentioned Zeddy has worked a lot with the numbers and stuff behind SK. I've helped him a lot with that and I have even conducted a bit of research on my own.
- I have plans on doing more to help this community because that's something I feel like I'm entirely able and willing to do. I'll announce said planned contributions when Ask a Striker anything has reached 500 replies, which is 10 pages.
Now tell me, Phantomhamachi. What have YOU done for this game and its community?
Things just got a little spicy. I'll just sit here and make some popcorn.
It's safe to say people don't do background checks before insults.
Now $75 over two years isn't that much, honestly. It's great you help the developers, but that isn't exactly the selling point. You've contributed heavily to the community, and not many people do that. Good on you, Krakob.
Before it disappears, one of the worst arguments I've seen is the whole "why don't you do something" one. Every person has a different set of skills and experiences, and things will come more naturally to each individual in their field of interest. I couldn't lift a sixty-pound dumbbell, but someone who could couldn't necessarily write in HTML. We might find our respective tasks easy, and the other hard. If we criticize each others skills, we might become even better, even if it sounds like complaining (eg. My website is hard to navigate, or I can't lift a 70-pound object, but the other person can't either, encouraging them to work to be able to do that).
This is what we do to Three Rings. Some of us are more well-spoken than others, but that doesn't change the validity of the complaints. Three Rings hires experienced and/or talented people to build their game, and as such can build an MMO, especially with the help of a team. Telling an inexperienced stranger on the internet to try to do the same thing that a group of trained and paid professionals do is not a valid argument.
I'll just step in here and say:
Generalization is bad and if you do it you should feel bad. Have a nice day.
More seriously though, Krakob has done a whole lot more stuff that I know than you have, Mr. Phantom, or you, Mr. Annilaton. Is that misspelling intentional?
Krakob's "Ask a Striker Anything" is a nice laugh now and then, when the other topics are plagued by useless threads. Cough. Cough. Choke.
This thread is just plain useless. It's complaining about people who complain. And then more complainers come in and complain in a generalizing manner. And then come in complainers who decide to insult a random guy without doing research on what said random guy has ever contributed (Protip: A lot.).
I think I'll need some popcorn too. Extra butter; hope no one has lactose intolerance.
@Fangel
Thank you!
$75 is indeed not much but building up this has most certainly used energy that cost more than the double of $75 to insert. Consuming energy is what causes people to need to buy more so arguing that one can't contribute to OOO without buying E is incorrect. All one needs to do is consume consume consume!
@Sandwich Potato
Hey, I frequently answer serious questions in Ask a Striker anything!
For the Spiral Knights virtual economy, using energy will, in theory, increase purchases. I was getting at your direct contribution to the development team, which the $75 will immediately help them. That isn't to say using energy won't indirectly help them, as the economy requires a steady amount of energy to stay afloat.
Your time invested in contributing to the game's community is far more valuable than the money you've spent on the game. You may have indirectly caused a learning striker to buy energy to try out something new! These community contributions are the sort of thing that Phantomhamachi didn't know/acknowledge, and they are indirectly helping the game.
Well, causing the most infamous troll ever (on april fools day 2012 that is) and generally making stories nobody reads at all because drama is better than action and deconstruction, nothing else. Other than paypal spamming OOO as well. Obviously I'm a target for scalding insults by Jempire. I'm going to do a MLG420NOSCOPE parody of Spiral Knights T2 Lockdown that will be insanely scalding and Refuge In Audacity.
I would like my popcorn with sugar, please.
In a more serious note, I can't believe all of you have came THIS far as to question "what have you done" at each other, does it really matter? Do you think your opinion is more important just because you threw some pennies into the game? Because you participated in a totally optional community (forums)?
Graveyard this thread. Or at least move it to Gremlin Chatter, this thing isn't contributing to the game in ANY way.
I actually realise my mistake. Just please tweeter. Graveyard this thread. There isn't any way to save this. Just graveyeard it now and stop it all.
What's this about people going on and on about popcorn?
Oreos & milk all day everday.
I'd prefer a salad myself.
I'd go for some good healthy carbs...Mmm carb loading...
/laugh
Running...
Krakob is one of the nicest people in SK i'll say, and the way you are treating him is like we were back in the 50s and Krakob was a black person and you were a white person. You are being extreemly dumb, hotheaded, and like you've lost everything in what used to be your brain. Treating the Jempire like that is so darn re*****d. Even for YOU. They didn't screw you up that bad probably, you should learn to forgive people, and you better leave them alone, or I will personally stick my foot up your ***hole.
That's very kind of you (at least to me) but I don't think insulting people is a lot better than well, insulting people. I believe telling Annilaton about why predjuice and generalisation is wrong is enough. If he wants to listen and be more mature or if he wants to treat the holocaust like a joke and present negative opinions on others because they're in one guild or another is entirely up to him. If you dislike him, show that you're a better person.
I know he is a nice person inside, but I had to get that out of my system.
Actually, there are quite a few things the community won't complain about.
The ones you listed are the most obvious things that are almost entirely objective- like armor balance. You can't argue that acheron is balanced and hope to come out ahead because acheron's damage numbers are broken. You can argue that you like the new UI better because thats subjective- but it'd still be easier to argue against the change due to the large number of people that miss the old UI and would like for Zopyro's UI to come to fruition.
The community didn't complain when OOO released the roarmulus twins, or when it released the new costumes (the first set of every set of costume releases, which have next to no pacing)… most of the bug fixes after the large updates are met with praise as well. There are many many threads asking OOO to improve themselves in many many ways, but can you really blame people for wanting that? If they see something wrong with the game, perhaps it should be fixed, yes? After all, why be happy with what you've got when you can have so much more?
And on that note, I'm certain that your father wouldn't tell you to be happy with what you've got if you yourself were fired from your job and cast out upon the street to be beaten nightly by the homeless until you finally died of disease and fatigue.
Subtle personal attacks... Some unfitting posts... Angry sounding posts (thought that might be incorrect as I can't tell feelings or intentions in text rather than voice)... More hate towards me simple because well, I made this thread....
"There are many many threads asking OOO to improve themselves in many many ways,"
That's fine, and I'm in agreements that they need to hear more ideas and look through them.
" but can you really blame people for wanting that?"
I never said I did.
"If they see something wrong with the game, perhaps it should be fixed, yes?"
Also yes. But as I've said in post #0, If it's just millions of posts and threads of the same thing, then it gets redundant. Also, I'm still aware they are issues. My main problem with that is that they go so out of control as to flood certain threads or subforums.
"why be happy with what you've got when you can have so much more?"
I guess I should have clarified on that, but it didn't occur to me until just now. If it's something impossible (like wanting 1,000,000 CE within the next 24 hours), then the former takes place. If it's something that is possible (such as more sparks for yourself, or waiting on new content), then the latter. You can also help if possible.
As for the un-necessary firestorm that has taken place (as per usual by any of my threads), I am indeed on the verge of graveyarding. I kindly ask for it to stop beforehand. If you're going to give criticism, that's fine, but keep it calm, mature, and constructive. Must I remind everyone what Poseidon said?
"DO:
Be excellent to each other. Keep your posts respectful and polite. Disagreement is fine, but scratching, biting, and hair pulling is not allowed."
"If its just millions of posts and threads about the same thing then it gets redundant."
Well thats how we know when something really is an issue. I posted about who comes on and complains, that there are basically two groups of people- the forum regulars and whomever is effected by the issue. The first is because they care about the game and the second is because they are angry that they can't do the mission or can't heat/use their gear.
The second group of people doesn't know or care that the issue at hand has been discussed 5 times that week and 12 times the week prior. Its fair to say that they should do their homework before posting what they say, but they're often new to forums as a whole.
Both groups care about the game though, and thats the bottom line. When it gets redundant, thats often when it gets heard.
And on the topic of mini-modding and hypocrisy-
"DO:
Direct support-related issues and questions to the support staff via the Support Email form."
If I insult you, will you graveyard the thread? I'm considering it.
^You guys should really just be nice to Tweeter. Even if she doesn't always bring up the best points (not that this is the case), insulting her doesn't exactly make you guys look any better.
Don't get me wrong, I could insult anyone. I just want this topic graveyarded.
I don't believe in men on the internet. Even Zeddy is a woman, despite having posted a picture of "himself" on a blog some that I found.

Welcome to RuneScape community 2.0. All OOO need to do now is post reguarly on YouTube and have a few more years under their belt.
Rhagnarock is just saying that because she wants us to think she's a guy.
I found the perfect one-liner for this thread.
"guys stop giving feedback and suggestions in the game's forums! ignore the problems instead of fixing them!" ~OP
We won't complain when the human race becomes yet more dysfunctional and blows each other to oblivion while the survivors die of radioactive exposure.
Also, you DO know that complaints are good, right? There is not a single thing in the world that doesn't have a million flaws, and not pointing them out is far worse than idly standing by and watching them chip away.
We won't complain if OOO showers us with 1,000 energy every time we log in every day for about half a year.
"We won't complain if OOO showers us with 1,000 energy every time we log in every day for about half a year."
Then you will complain because you got every single weapon/accessory/gear in the game and now you don't have anything else to do.
what one dragon said to another dragon after burning a small village:
dragon #1: you know what i hate worse than humans..?
dragon #2: i dunno boss..their smell?
dragon #1: their kids.
dragon #2: ooh you're right boss, i hate them pesky nuisances.
dragon #1: anyway, did you fill your bags with all of that town's shinies?
dragon#2: yes boss.
dragon #1: good. let's take it all back to the mountain asap.
Apparently you didn't catch the first part of #0.
I don't mind seeing complaint threads. I know they're valid. But if it's just going to be thousands upon millions of them stacked upon eachother, then I see no real value in them. Keep in mind this does not in any way mean I rule out the validity.
There is such a thing as there being more than a handful of problems with this game.
@Ardent-Light #70: First of all, it is Annilaton, not Annilation. It's not a spelling mistake. I did that on purpose because the name database.
SECOND, are you calling me racist? Are you saying Krabob was a black person and I was a white person back in the 50s? Are you kidding me? I am the LEAST racist person you will ever meet ever. Unless you consider the Jemps a race, which is absurd. In fact, if there were races in SK, it would be the jemps being racist to us!
@Krabob #71: You say I have no respect for the great "race insulting" in the past and stuff. But let me ask you a few questions: Have you ever read Night? Have you ever read any WW2 documentary? In the long past I did, and I doubt you read any of them. So don't go around badmouthing about how I know NOTHING whatsoever about racism over history unless you fully understand.

It may seem I'm angry, but I'm not. Is there any popcorn left over? Butter is preferred. Back at my Aunt May's house they used to have the kind with the seasoning and omg, it was soooo good. Don't put too much salt into popcorn and it will turn bad. Butter is the key though. The more yellow the popcorn, the more the taste will strive for success. Always pack a cold liquid with that popcorn. Sometimes your mouth gets really dry.
Wavara stole my loophole D:< But on a more serious note:
@Aplauses
Indeed I am. As said in a survey that I made that I forgot to bookmark that I'm too lazy to find
@Fehzor
Thanks for the defense, but I'm a guy in case you didn't know already XD. This is probably the second time someone confused my gender due to my name. Unless that's a joke. But the defense thing still stands.
Why in the world would we want to insult Xtweeterx? He's just trying to make a good point about this trashed community... ._.
Honestly though. I really need that popcorn. I think I need to go to the bathroom after so much popcorn, but I regret nothing.
RACE TO POST NUMBER 100~!!!!!
Annilation be taking this game way too serious to feel that JEMPIRE as a whole group of people is bullying him or whatsoever he thinks. Just... Laughable.
Xtwatterx, will you ever cease craving for attention with these flammable threads? Didn't you say you will stop? You won't, 'cuz attention please.

Lack of new content
IMO these aren't as bad as balance. Yes, I know you're all strived for new content, but has it ever crossed your mind that they're working their butts of 24/7 and planning new things for the future? How about YOU try making your own MMO and keep coming up with clever ideas
We aren't saying they AREN'T working, rather they are working in the wrong direction. There are priorities, OOO doesn't seem to have them. *In my opinion, and many others*
The old UI vs the new UI STILL!?!?!
If you remember around the second anniversery event, SK revamped the user interface. As of course, many were flustered and maybe even quit. This is probably one of the most narrow-minded things I have ever seen. I understand your anger, but don't take it so seriously.
You don't enforce your opinion in others, and others won't do. We are free to take it seriously or not, because we are the one playing the game. Note that the "more civilized" angry complainers didn't ask for complete removal of the new UI, but to add an option to use the retro UI. Stop being an ignorant.
Do I complain about wanting to live there again? I would have been grounded a long time ago (TL;DR: No.)
OH! So what you are doing is right, and accepting reality is always the way to go, and never go for the better thing, BECAUSE REALITY.

Zopyros burnt you, just close this thread for no further thrid-degree burns.
