Xindis angrily stomped down the town road. What makes that piece of scrap think she can use me like that!? I'm not her slave! I'm a frikkin' DRAGON! Oh, I am SO gonna have word with her when this is all over. She's gonna regret using me like trash. Gonna toast that stupid hair of hers. Yeah, and maybe wipe that smug grin off her face with a firebolt or two. Vog, how I hate her! I can't WAIT to get my hands on that Execution sword.
She hadn't noticed that several individuals in black cloaks were following her until she tripped on a rock and angrily kicked it back into someone's leg. "OW!" came an unfamiliar cry, breaking out of her reverie to see where it came from. When she saw that she was being trailed, her first reaction was surprise, followed by rage.
"What...the..." So much rage boiled in her that she threw back her head and involuntarily transformed into a dragon. She let out a mighty roar that sent the black-cloaked men scurrying for cover. A red-hot firebolt shot from her mouth, immediately burning one man to ashes. "HOW DARE YOU FOLLOW ME!!" she roared furiously. Another firebolt escaped her mouth and exploded on another unfortunate fellow. "GET OUT! GET. OOOOOOUUUUUTTTT!!"
The ruckus she was making generated quite a commotion among the nearby residents. Several heroic knights in shining armor came out to do battle with her, forcing her to realize that maybe she had taken things a little too far. She hurriedly flew off behind a house and transformed back into human form. Crud, I really lost it there. She ran down the road as the knights reached her former location, shouting curses to each other over the dragon's disappearance.
She came to a stop next to a well, where she sat down to rest her legs. "This is all Gwen's fault. I bet she sent me here to make me angry so that those knights would kill me. Well I just foiled that plan! HA!! Take that, you piece of filth!" She laid her head on the side of the well and closed her eyes.
"Piece of filth, huh?" came a familiar voice. Xindis' eyes shot open and frantically glanced around for the speaker. A sinking feeling of dread and embarrassment washed over her when she spotted Gwen standing there with her arms crossed and her nose wrinkled in disgust. Xindis stood there feeling a little ashamed of herself. Go on, say something! Don't make me keep standing here.
But Gwen didn't say anything. She just shook her head and looked past her at the mountainside. If one looked closely, one could see a neat tunnel built into the base of the mountain, flanked on both sides by weird statues vaguely resembling a monster of some (unknown) kind.
Xindis glanced at Gwen. "You want me to go there?"
Gwen nodded.
"For the sword?"
She nodded again.
"You gonna say anything else?"
She shook her head.
"I hate you."
She shrugged and began walking away.
"What, you're gonna leave me to do this all alone?"
Gwen finally decided to speak. "Yep. I don't work well with people who hate me."
That actually makes sense. Xindis facepalmed and shook her head. Still, considering how bad you wanted it, I would think you'd take the trouble to help me retrieve it... With that discouraging thought in her mind, she sighed and started for the mountain entrance.
Some times Improvisation is the best thing when it comes to telling a story.
