Luke stayed silent while the others discussed what to do. When the alarm for the Morai attack sounded, he got ready for a fight. Drawing his Swift Flourish, Luke followed Jaxter, Sono, and Renao towards the Garrison. When Sono stopped to make a quick call. Seeing him rap up, Luke waited for him to answer the question posed by Renao.
Return to Cradle 2 RP Story Thread
Captain Kyrto watched with approval as his pride and joy, the Va'Isor Legion Mothership, hovered over the alien town bombarding the heck out of those poor, hapless knights. He smirked as a well-placed shell smashed an important-looking building in the middle of town.
He got on the intercom and exclaimed, "ALL RIGHT, TROOPERS! MOVE OUT!!"
Morai Legionnaires leaped by the hundreds out the drop portal and hurled themselves at the ground with gusto. Great dust clouds rose high into the air as the mighty legion landed hard on Cradle's dry dirt. With their heads held high and their blades held higher, they charged into Haven expecting an easy victory.
__________
Patience, Gwenivere. She took a deep breath and deliberately calmed herself as she watched the carnage through her visions. We shall allow it for a time. Protecting us is what we brought the Knights here for, no? Let them do their job.
Then a thought occurred to her: what if she were to once again harness her Powers and shoot down the Morai vessel, evening the odds? She would have to reach the Core in order to do so, but it was doable. But the remnants of the White Council would undoubtedly obstruct her, costing her precious time. Maybe she could head back up and- no, she would trust her knights. She would trust that thief Jaxter and his band of misfits to stop the Morai invasion.
Yeah, real comforting. I messed up again. There's always gotta be a kink in my plans. She looked back, checking to make sure the wolves weren't following them.
They were following, but at a distance. Good dogs. You remember full well what I did to your precious cubs last time you attacked me.
"Nothing suprising, just more Morai." Suddenly the gates fell as hundreds upon hundreds of Legionnaires charged into Town Square. "Oh Crap!" Sono unsheathed Gokai in one hand and took out Doragon in the other. "Jax, what's the plan?"
Looking around the Console Blesse smiled as she remembered Emberlight had always been their allie and they could bombard any level on the clockworks ya? So could it be possible to send a bombardment up to the Surface using the Gorge that kept Haven save. It could work and it would have to work. With a quick hand she started typing to Jaxter.
I am going to call in a favor from Emberlight. It will take about three minutes or so after the comfermation is sent. See if you can hold them off, I will do everything on my end to get the ship over head down to Cradle. At least then we will have some kind of advantage.
Sending the message off to Jaxter, Blesse started to do something she hated doing, hacking the systems of the enemy ship. She was limited to all the resever's in Haven but that would not stop her as she started her attack on the fire walls. Her goal was to take over the Navigation system of the ship and pilot it over the gorge and hope Emberlight would send an attack.
Before her hack job started she sent a message off the Emberlight hoping for a Surface bombardment offering payment from her own bank account and offering minerals in exchange for some heavy ordinates being sent up. I can cover a couple bombs, after that the Baron will have to back me other wise Haven is gone. She sent her request for funds and or resources off to the Baron for his approval before she could do much else.
The "Approved!" sign appeared on her electronic request.
With a unseen smile Blesse waited for Emberlight to send forth their aprovel for sending their attack. If it came she would start the three minute timer, which was all she had to hack the Navigational systems in the enemy ship. If she tried fro anything else they would find her and lock Blesse out of their mainframe.
Alright starting a hack job on the enemy ship. Be advised I need you all to keep their attention as far away from the computer's as possible other wise I might get knocked out and if Emberlight said yes, we lose the chance of taking out the ship with a little Gremlin invention. Also, I promessed the Gremlins first picking at the enemy ship so lets hope it does not get hurt too bad.
Sending her message off to who whole group and other Knights as well Blesse went about her Hack job. She was already past the fire wall. Thankfully no security programs fought her after that but she had to use her mind and keep thinking as she did not quite remember what the Navigational system controller program looked like. She was able to full the ships systems into thinking the shields where up whens he instead lowered them to zero so the bombs would hit. But that took too much time as it was for her to move the ship.
A message popped up on Jaxter's HUD from Blesse. He'd have to hold the enemy off until the Emberlight reinforcements came. He fired at the Morai in the distance, shouting to his team.
"Guard the computers! We can't let them interrupt the hack!" He took a swig of his bottle, feeling renewed and energized and a bit less sober. He took both guns out with a mad gleam in his eye.
"Have at you, you sons a b****es!"
Cicero turns, and blasts at the Wolvers with his Polaris.
"Bastards!" He hisses, continuing his electric assault on them.
The wolvers turned and ran with their tails between their legs, howling and whining as they disappeared into the snowstorm.
"They weren't hurting us you know," Gwen remarked coldly. Not like I'd expect *you* to understand. Typical knight. She stepped onto the next lift and waited for him.
Sono shot his Doragon into the crowd, impaling several Morai before slinging it back. He messaged Blesse, "I'll go after the Flagship, make sure they don't try anything," then called over to Jax and Renao "Cover Me!" He then swung up to the rooftops, taking down another Legionnaire, and headed towards the front gates.
Negative! I am taking that one over the caszem for Emberlight to shot down. Their is only one ship anyway, no need in going all heroic. If anything keep up the Terminals and Reserves! If those go down the ship might get knocked down over Haven and take out more life's.
With that sent back to Sono she kept going. Thankfully she was able to push deeper into their mainframe, as much as she wanted to start stealing information she knew that would be a dead give away that she was hacked into their system. Instead she changed the Navigational systems aiming them out over the gorge. It was at this point she had over taking the main control system in a since locking out the Morai from their own computing system but they had not found out about it. They won't take long before the command comes to cut any and all hardline. If those go down at any point then the request to Emberlight will be meaning less. Its going to take two minutes for the ship to be over the gorge and another three for Emberlight to launch the strike. Come on Gremlins, we need that fireworks display right about now.
((Need confirmation about the Emberlight strike upwards Thin, Sorry to have to ask so much :L))
Location: the golden spire, Valkyrie’s sacred ground, depth 23
[At dawn break, the red sun casts it light once again on the horizon, the animals emerged from the shadows and carried on with their lives while following the laws of wild. Elzilia awakened from her slumber and finds a ration biscuit stuck in her mouth, feeling offended, she swallows the biscuit and stared angrily at Affraiel and Midnight, who are still asleep. Suddenly, they are awakened by the noise of Elzilia’s radio.]
Ursulan: *cuts into Elzilia’s frequency* “Reaper, do you copy? This is Manus! Captain Krypto has just ordered an assault on the spiral knight settlement. What is your progress on the spire?”
Elzilia: *responds* “Manus, I am right at the bound of the first spire, the golden one. What is my instruction?”
Ursulan: *statics* “I will air drop some thermite explosives to your location, stay put, and also, why is there a knight and a Valkyrie at your vicinity?”
Elzilia: “They are joining me in this operation, do you mind?”
Ursulan: “Just finish them off once the job is done, Morai legion does not tolerate traitors… I will be on my gun ship to give you fire support if needed. I also have a few new weapons ready for you.”
Elzilia: “I was expecting the entire Morai legion to come over… but heh, just the four of us is a lot!”
Ursulan: “Don’t try anything heroic, you are a recon, and the destruction of the golden spire will be a stealth mission, avoid combat and plant the thermite charges at the strategic locations I pointed out on your map, the spire is made of pure gold, enough money to build Val’sor five times over…”
Elzilia: “That is a lot of money at stake… the Valkyries will sure be defending it with everything they got…”
Ursulan: *chuckels* “Those valkyries won't know what hit them, and also, an informant had just told us about the presence of an unidentified organism living within the spire. Its bio signature is unlike anything we had come across… proceed with extreme caution, Manus out.” *hangs off*
[A moment later, Ursulan’s gun ship hovered over Elzilia, Midnight and Affraiel. A parachute packed with a crate of supply is dropped down. As soon as the crate landed, Affraiel takes out the claymore and pried the crate open. Inside, there are the thermite explosives and remote wires Ursulan promised, but along with that, comes a few packets of rations as well as a new sniper rifle. The rest are cleaning items as well as a few other small firearms.]
Affraiel: *sees the sniper rifle* “Hmmm, that thing looks fine…” *takes it out of the crate and checks its scope* “Hmm, hey, Elzzy, how about I be the team’s designated marksman and Midnight be the spotter?”
Midnight: *takes a binocular out of the crate* “Yeah, that would be great if I can team up with Mister Affraiel.”
Elzilia: *nods her head while picking up most of the thermite explosives* “Alright, I am set, you two can give me some sniper support while I sneak into the spire. I will plant the charges and as soon as I am done, I will speed my way out of there and blow the spire sky high.” *tosses a radio to Affraiel* “Contact me on the radio, the codename is reaper, what should I call you?”
Affraiel: *chuckles* “Call me the Eden snake… “ *loads up the rifle* “Let’s do this!”
"It's not like-" Cicero began a retort, only to be bowled over by an errant Frostifur. The thing tore at his un-visored helmet, and tore a gash at his face.
"Arghhh!"
Hopping across the rooftops, a Morai Warden stopped him dead in his tracks. "Oh! Okay! You're Gonna Have To Get Out Of-" Sono's com-link suddenly perked up as he received Blesse's message. The Warden swung his sword at Sono, who jumped back at the last minute. "Perfect. Now I can take my sweet time in dealing with you."
The Warden went for an overhead swing this time, which Sono blocked with his Gokai. Parts of the building they were on started caving in, causing Sono to lose his footing. The Leviathan was pushed down into the roof, making it collapse with the two tumbling downwards.
But Gwen just stood there, casually watching the Wolver tear away at Cicero's face. Should I help him, or preserve his manliness and let him deal with it?
Cicero kept screaming in agony and the Wolver kept feasting to its heart's content.
He can't fight his way out of this. I'd better help him. With a single stroke of her sword, she batted the Wolver away and sliced open its chest, killing it within seconds. She shook her head ruefully. "Pitiful."
She knelt down and began to heal Cicero's wounds with her magic.
"No. I'm fine" Cicero says to Gwen, standing up rather roughly. "And I don't think your magic is going to fix my eye..." Cicero says, noticing that he could not gauge the distance to the edge.
"This is going to be disgusting," Cicero says, drawing a small, serrated knife from his belt.
First, he cut off a large section of fur from the creature. Then, he cut off some of the skin from below it. He cut the skin off from the dead wolver, then thrust it on his Combuster. The flesh fried within minutes, taking on a leathery form. He takes off his helmet, and ties it over his injured eye, forming an eyepatch. With that done, he put on his helmet again.
"Let's go." He says gruffly, stepping on the elevator with a scowl.
Jaxter was huddled behind a burning scrap of metal, Morai gunfire flying pinging off the little cover he had. He loaded his guns, ready to return fire. He peeped out of cover quickly and fired a few shots at the advancing troops. A few got caught in the head, falling instantly, but many others were left. A Blaster bullet found its mark in Jaxter's shoulder, and he quickly recoiled behind the metal plate he was hiding behind.
"Ah scrap..." He assessed the wound, grimacing. He couldn't shoot with his right hand for a while. He shouted on com link:
"Blesse, we need backup!" He ordered. "We're outnumbered, get help as soon as you can!" After he turned off the com link, he reloaded his gun, and concentrated. Time slowed down in his perspective, and he knew where to shoot to kill.
He rolled out of cover, crouched, and fired. His sharpened mind gave him near perfect aim, and when his shots ceased, twelve Morai were dead. He scrambled over to another fallen piece of marble pillar, tired as hell. He put his finger to his nose, and it came away with blood. Jaxter swore.
"Renao, Sono, I need backup, outnumbered and injured!" He drank from his bottle, now empty, and smashed it on the rocks, making a makeshift dagger.
'They better come soon...'
Gwen suddenly shoved him to the ground and planted her boot on his chest. "Not so fast, kiddo." She knelt on top of him and continued her healing magic. Soon, Cicero felt his eye growing back, and when she ripped off the eyepatch, he found he could see through it again.
Then she got off of him. "NOW we can go." She hit the up-button, and the elevator hummed to life. Then she folded her arms and leaned against the railing to catch a few Zs.
"Kinda Busy Here!" Sono leaped through the doorway as the Warden (who I will name Torque) bashed through right behind him. The Doragon was swung in a wide arc, slashing through several Morai around Jaxter as Sono passed him a health pill.
He skidded to a stop, turning around to charge at Torque, who was charging his Leviathan for a 360 spin. Sono jumped, but overshot his attack and landed behind Torque as the Blade came back around. It struck against his shield, knocking him through the ground.
Cicero sighed nonchalantly, and leaned against the railing.
When I thought about the phrase "on top" this wasn't exactly what I was thinking.
When the elevator hit the dust, Cicero noticed anxiously that Gwen was still asleep. This was still a tundra level, but seemed to be populated by Gremlins and Constructs. A barrage of Gun Puppy bullets sweep the elevator, but Cicero dashes in front of Gwen with his shield raised.
OOC: She was just snoozing, and easily awakened. She probably opened her eyes when the elevator stopped.
BIC: The gun puppy bullets bounced harmlessly off Cicero's Grey Owlite Shield. Gwen decided to explore the level a bit and let Cicero handle the gun puppies. They're just T1 pups; easy as pie. He can handle that, right?
I dunno, he failed pretty hard with that wolver back there. She chuckled and stepped off the lift.
Unopening her pouch, Renao nibbled on the last of the Crimsonite that she had from her basic fighting kit.
Her throat burned, And her eyes gleamed. Once more, I hunger for flesh... Renao thought strongly, So strongly, That anyone at the core with Telepathy could hear it clearly.
She grabbed an incoming arrow and tossed it aside, Rushing towards the Morai who shot with her guns drawn. She shot the legs and left arm, And finally shot the head. Since Renao was an assassin, She shot to kill instead of disarm. Renao took the Knight's Final Flourish and sheath, Putting her left gun in her holster. She charged at the next knight, Impaling his stomach and shooting his head before he could react. The next knight shivered slightly, Putting up her shield. Renao then picked away at this knightess, Slicing at her legs, shooting her shield- Ultimately weakening the knightess until she had to trop the shield. She was then stabbed in the head. Another 7 knights fell to her blade and gun before Jaxter used his comlink to say
"Renao, Sono, I need backup, outnumbered and injured!"
Renao calmed down enough to look at the map, To see where Sono and Jaxter were. They weren't too far, But Renao felt a stinging pain on her right arm, And realized that she was bleeding. Drat, That was my good shooting arm! Renao quickly made a makeshift bandage, And rushed off towards Jaxter.
Getting Jaxter message Blesse smiled as her hack job opened up the weapons system. The ships where just about in their place when she gave a nod, this was going to be loud and devastating. All she could do was hope the Terminal and Trasmission stations stayed up, it seemed they only had a few minutes till the Pay load was delivered at this point might as well take aim.
Alright, starting up battery cannons and laser gun system on the ships. Forgive me, but now I program all Spiral Order signals as non-targets and attack anything else. Three...two...one, transmission. With the tap of the enter button it became clear now that the Morai's ships were hacked for the weapons stopped aiming for knights and aimed for the Morai instead. It was devistating the amount of damage the weapons could do, even more so when they where turned on the very ones they where suppose to protect. Normally the weapons where designed to no shot people with the transmission signals it had programmed inside of it, but now it was set to revers that order, any Morai unlucky enough to get seen now as done.
With a few more key kicks she changed all the passwords and overrides in the mainframe, locking out the Morai from their own computers and in a since shutting them completely out now, even if they tried to turn off the ships they would just fall harmlessly to the ground with no damage to Haven, save for what was already done. Now the fun part. Turning to the Console she marked the incoming berage from Emberlight, like clockwork the shields where down and the ships where sitting ducks.
GET DOWN! EMBERLIGHT WAR-HEAD'S INBOUND!
Jaxter heard the message on his com unit loud and clear. He immediately began to run back to the cover of the Arcade as the Morai's own guns shot the legionaries into the air, burning corpses coming down like rain.
"By the Core..." He watched as mighty firebolts from the warship decimated the Morai on the ground. Blesse was doing her part.
What ever you do, don't let them take control of the Terminal's and Relay stations over Haven! We have less then a minute till the big fireworks from Emberlight.
The message was sent to all the Knights of the Order, a message that was going to determine who could last longest. At this point Blesse was praying she did not have to fight. Other wise the Morai might regain control of their ships if she was not constantly changing the codex and codes.
Luke dove out of the way of a Morai's swing. Rolling to regain his footing, he was back up and went in with his Swift Flourish. He deflected his opponents swing off his shield and lunged, his swords point seeking the enemy. Feeling it hit its mark, Luke withdrew and wiped his forehead. There's so many! Then he was fighting with another Morai troop. With his peripheral vision, he could see the others fighting, Sono had taken on an enemy warden.
He heard his radio crackle, "Renao, Sono, I need backup, outnumbered and injured!" It was Jaxter.
A little hurt that he wasn't mentioned, Luke started to make his way towards the ex-thief's position. Drawing his Calibur, he ran forward. Running through the fray, Luke noticed something out of the corner of his eye. He skidded to a halt, and ducked a random shot from no where. Then turned and stared at the Ascended Calibur that was inches from a fallen knights hand. Luke went to pick it up, then hesitated, Should I do this? I'm not qualified for it yet.it Deciding that it was necessary, he scooped it up and returned his course towards Jaxter. Arriving, he saw the gunner pinned down behind a sheet of metal. Brandishing the Ascended calibur, Luke ran to engage the advancing Morai. One advanced towards him. Letting his instincts take over, Luke kept up his sprint. When he got closer, he leapt off one foot and smashed his shield into the enemy. The Morai crumpled, and Luke kicked away the sword.
Spinning on one foot, Luke raised his shield to intercept another sword cut. His eyes widened as he realized he was fighting a marine. Retreating a step, Luke went into a defensive position. He caught a blow with his sword, and slashed wildly. The marine easily recovered and came on again, lunging forward with a stab. Sidestepping to the left so his shield was protecting his side, Luke stabbed in return, skinning the arm of his opponent. The Morai's eyesflashed murderously and lashed out, swinging flashing blows from every direction. Luke retreated as he knew experience was coming out on top in this fight. He parryed desperately, then heard another sound from his radio.
"GET DOWN! EMBERLIGHT WAR-HEAD'S INBOUND!"
Luke hesitated as the command registered, momentarily forgetting that he was in combat. A bright flash of pain lanced through him and snapped back to the battle, seeing a deep cut in his shield arm. Luke gritted his teeth and attacked, feinting forwards, then spinning around and delivering a backhand slice. The attack was futile, and brushed aside with contempt ease. Luke felt another stab of pain as the marine landed a hit on his lower leg. His normally light Defender was feeling like an Omega Shell, and he let it fall to the ground. Using only his new sword, and his last reserves of strength, he pushed forward. Kicking out, he landed a kick on the enemies shield. He pushed as hard as he could and the marine stumbled backwards. Luke let the Ascended Calibur drop, barely hearing it clang on the earthen ground.
Dimly he heard an update on the emberlight missiles.
What ever you do, don't let them take control of the Terminal's and Relay stations over Haven! We have less then a minute till the big fireworks from Emberlight.
He shook his head to clear the pounding he felt in his head. He felt something collide with him. Stumbling backwards, he wondered why he hadn't died yet, then he lost balance and crashed backwards into the ground. Looking up into the eyes of his assailant, he grinned weakly. Preparing himself to die, Luke realized his Swift Flourish was still in its scabbard. His hands scrabbled the hilt as the morai marine raised his sword for the final blow. Dragging the rapier from his belt, Luke used his free hand to push himself off the ground, driving the point of the flourish into the blurry figure of the morai. He felt the blade penetrate, and let go, falling backwards back to the ground.
A second passed, then another. Luke registered he did not die, he raised his head and saw the still body of the marine lying crumpled on the ground.
Then Luke remembered the missiles.
Summoning all his willpower, he dragged himself from the ground and desperately looked for some cover. Luke spotted an Ironmight Plate Shield lying on the ground next to some fallen knights. Stumbling towards it, he made it about a meter away from it and fell forwards. Barely any energy left in him, he was tempted to give up, let the oblivion carried by the missiles wash over him.
Then his willpower took over, I am NOT dying now! I did NOT come this far to give up! Luke rolled onto his back, he could make out several small objects in the sky arcing towards his direction. He reached his hand out, scrabbling the side of the heavy shield. Grasping on to it, Luke gathered all possible energy left in him, and dragged the giant shield over his body, fully covering it. Now, with all energy depleted and safe under the metal shield, Luke let his body rest. The next hour may be a tough one, and the apprentice needed all the energy he could to keep the shield over him.
[Affraiel empties his lungs and looked into his scope, Elzilia has already moved slowly towards the Valkyrie main defence force’s flank. Affraiel can spot five Valkyrie captain as well as another twenty something Valkyrie knights. Accompany the Valkyries, comes a group of new mechanical beasts. Four legged golden sentinels armed with two large calibre flak guns.]
Affraiel: *calls Elzilia* “Reaper, this is Eden Snake, I have spotted thirty or so Valkyrie girl scouts along with some kind of golden spider robots…”
Elzilia: “Golden spider robots?”
Affraiel: “Yeah… they look like some kind of heavy armoured ordinance the Valkyries deployed against us. So far I can only spot two, there might be more inside the spire…”
Elzilia: “Copy that Eden Snake… I will see if I can take over one those ‘things’ and use it against the Valkyries… those large calibre flak guns look very powerful…” *switches her frequency to Ursulan* “Manus, this is Reaper, I need some air support, I marked the Valkyries defending the entrance to the spire, swipe them down and create some confusion.”
Ursulan: “Copy that Reaper, one air strike is on the way.” *turns the Ravager around and flies towards the golden spire, he turns on his chain guns as the gunship gets into range with the Valkyries* “Target acquired…” *fires the chain gun*
[The powerful .998 rounds devastated the Valkyrie defence force, two of the five Valkyrie captains got shredded into pieces at the first few seconds of the surprise attack. The two golden robots start to fight back by attacking the gunship with flak shells, the shells lightly damaged Ursulan’s ship and Ursulan responds by moving to high attitude.]
Ursulan: *presses the bomb drop button* “A special delivery!”
[A high explosive air craft bomb lands on one of the armoured ordinance and it hay wired, the robot starts to fire every which way with its flak shells. The remaining Valkyries scrambled as they tries to ring the warning bell outside the spire entrance. Elzilia ambushes the Valkyries from the flank and chopped off the hands of those who tried to ring the warning bell. During the middle of all the chaos, Elzilia jumped onto the hay wired armour ordinance and turned its flak gun against its fellow comrades. The two golden robots destroyed each other by friendly fire, the rest of the Valkyries are taken care of by Affraiel’s sniper shots. The bell isn’t ranged and everything turns out as expected.]
Elzilia: *calls Affraiel* “Well done old man, where did you learned to shoot like that? You can give our best sharpshooters a run for their money!”
Affraiel: “Well reaper, I am already in the middle of my 70s, fighting on the front line just ain’t my thing anymore. So I learned a trick or two from an old hunter one day before I got jailed up. Never knew they will come handy today…”
Midnight: “That was really impressive, Mister Affraiel!”
Affraiel: “Hey, Reaper girl, what are we going to do with this male Valkyrie?”
Elzilia: “Well, if he wants to stay, let him, it is not like his Valkyrie sisters liked him anyway… he is better off with us. And also, Eden snake, what kind of codename is that old man?”
Affraiel: *chuckles* “Hey, just you know, back when I was cleaning the local church back on Isora, the Eden snake is a talking reptile that is said to have seduced primordial men to eat the forbidden fruits to acquire wisdom, then the creator got all bat-crap insane and banished our kind to the planet Isora. The knowledge to see through the lies and that was what the Eden snake gifted to the primordial men. I am using it as a homage to my true goal in life, bring down the lies and deceits spiral order has put on to fool my fellow brethren, they talk of honour and glory, but at the end the knights are nothing more than the tools of the spiral order.”
Elzilia: “Interesting… you still hate the spiral order? You are an isoran, shouldn’t you join the order?”
Affraiel: “To hell with the Spiral Order, they sent so many young fellows into the war, used them as human shields and cannon fodder. So many lives wasted, just for their pitiful goals! Ozlo, Feron and Kora can burn in the depths of hell as far as I care! If destroying the spiral order means I have to side with the Morais, then so be it! But for now, we need to teach that white faired brat who is the true owner of cradle!”
Elzilia: “Fighting a God to the bitter end? I am all for it!” *moves into the spire* “Manus, I am going in, Eden Snake, make sure to cover me while I am setting down the charges… Reaper out.”
It took marsh 3 minutes to get away from the labs, 20 to get away from the other spirals, and only 10 minutes near the frontlines to find what he needed. A suitable replacement for Anders. The man was tall enough, and strong looking for Marsh's needs. And he was vitally wounded. The three dead Morai warriors surrounding him were evidence of what happened.
"What's wrong friend? Why do you sit here and bleed to death? Why not call in some support?"
The man looked up from his grevious wounds and pointed to his tac pad...multiple requests for support were already "Processing". No words as he looked into the 'champions' helm, turns out he was a mute as well. Sitting down next to the man, he took the time to exaimine him further.
"What happened to the recording device on your helm? How did that brake?"
An odd question, but the man simply pointed to the dead men.
"during the fight I guess"
An obvious statement that should've remain unsaid, Marsh continued on learning about him.
"So who are you? Why are you here?"
With no means of obvious communication, the man pulled a little card with his Imformation on it... all the information he would need if asked for an ID...
"Mitchell huh? I like your name. Wait...Intel Knight? what's an intel knight doing down here in the fray? being a hero no less!"
The man gave a weak smile and shrugged silently. His eyes slowly drooped as the life began to fade out of him
"HEY STAY WITH ME."
Marsh yelled, causing the man's eyes to reopen.
"Comon, focus on me. How about your family, tell me about your family, can you do that?"
Smiling again, the man flipped the ID badge over in Marsh's hands reveiling a small picture labeled "Anna"
"Ah, is she your little girl? How old is she?"
The smile dropped from the man's strained face, rasing his hands slightly, he signaled out a single word
Gone
And then, he too was gone. Out, like a candle.
Grabbing the man's head and pressing it to his own, Marsh whispered solemnly
"I'm sorry. This could've been avoided, I know it."
For the first time in years, Marsh felt somethin unfamiliar; sorrow. Continuing on as if the man could still hear him
"But I need your help, alright? I can't go on like this anymore, they'll figure it out."
What better way to honor the dead, then to carry on their memory? Switching the Champions gear out for the Intel agent's, he muttered a few apologies for the theft. Dressing the former intel agent up in the armor, Marsh decided to let him go out with a bang, as a hero.
"I can't leave you alone like this, they'd figure out who you really were. But I'll see you marked as a hero, alright? rest easy."
He said, reading a Morai firebomb in his lap
"Because you are, you are a hero, even in my book"
With a smile Marsh slid the picture out of the ID's cover and placed it into his fallen hero's bloodied hand. Walking away, the blast rendered any evidence of the transactions between them in ashes. Cancelling the medical alerts, Marsh created a new report; Champion Anders was a casualty of war.
One final step before his transgressions would be complete taking the blade at his side, he pressed his hand against it and began surrounding it in his familiar black aura. Within seconds, it's blade represented it's new form, a standard brandish, familair weapon of an intel agent.
Sono groggily stood up, still shaken from Torque's charge. He ducked under another swing, however was shot in the back by a Morai. "Ksch, Damn Morai!" Sono jumped into the air, shooting Doragon straight at Torque, who deflected it.
"GET DOWN! EMBERLIGHT WAR-HEAD'S INBOUND!"
Doragon stuck to the ground next to Torque. "Crap!" Sono flung towards him in an aerial shield bash, hitting right on the head. Torque crumpled, a small yet visible crater coming up around him. "I gotta see these fireworks!" He hopped back up top the roof.
"What ever you do, don't let them take control of the Terminal's and Relay stations over Haven! We have less then a minute till the big fireworks from Emberlight."
Sono stopped running and looked back towards the Bazaar to see Luke hiding under an Ironmight Shield. "HEY!" He ran towards Luke, shooting Doragon at a building near him, then swung down.
At the lowest point, Sono reached out and managed to grab Luke, wrapping him in one arm and holding on to the Shield to make sure it doesn't fall. "No Isoran is gonna die on my watch!" He paused. "Off my watch is someone else's problem." They landed in front of the Arcade and headed inside, greeting the others.
Cicero runs, leaping over a gun puppy and chopping it's head off. He blows another two off their pedestals with his Polaris. Then, he charges at the single Retrode in the centre. He dodges it's initial attack, then slashes it's head in half. The focussing crystal tried to power up another laser, but only blew its own head off. A single Gremlin stood in the centre, a technician of sorts. Cicero just points to the elevator.
"Get the hell away before I change my mind." He tells the non-combatant. Cicero then motions for Gwen to come forward.
As Gwen scanned the landscape for possible routes to the next lift, she noticed Cicero summoning her out of the corner of her eye. She turned around, folded her hands under her cloak and lazily approached him, with the hardened icy slush crunching softly beneath her feet. Stopping just outside the boundary of his personal space, she tilted her head to the side and gazed at him, deliberately blinking a few times as if she expected him to say something intelligent.
"I don't want to step on your toes again... but, this level is packed with Gremlins and Constructs. We should probably stick together." Cicero says, internally wincing as he realized he sounded like an idiot again, and this girl's hatred for him was probably growing exponantially.
"Uh... nevermind, I guess."
Blesse had no time to look over the camera feeds as she still did not have the clearance for such things, but she was able to get a airal feed from the Ships she had hacked into. It was nice to see they where trying, but with their codex getting scrambled so quickly they could not keep up with her. At this point the ships where over the gorge which gave Emberlight the clear shot, not that it was needed due to the fact she was tracking the war-heads rise up. It was at this point time started to slow down for her, all she could do was hope that the batteries from the ships could land their hits on the Morai troops. At this range it was not a 100% chance to hit but still their didn't seem to be too many of them left in Haven.
Looking over at the console which displayed Haven she saw a Intel knight was around one of the Relay stations. With a quick patch into his computer she saw his Camera was busted, Damn, I can't tell if he is a Morai now or not...Well best judgement call here.
Intel Knight, I need you to get to the Relay station. Some of the remaining Morai troops are closing in and the defender's could use the backup. If anything I need you to patch into the station and boost power to the main, I need it for the range. At this point I have pushed the limits of the mainframe on my end, but that Relay is closer to the ships so a boost in its signal strength will keep me on the offensive!
She sent the message to the Knight, unsure if it made it or not. Hell for all she knew she just sent off a Wolf to kill the sheep.
Gwen closed her eyes and slowly exhaled while she decided how to react. I suppose it couldn't hurt to go easy on him. When she opened her eyes, she gave him a pat on the shoulder and a weak smile. "I know. You're trying." She bowed her head and rotated on her heels, turning her back to him.
"Pleasant weather here, wouldn't you say?" She twisted back to look at him with a playful glint in her eye.
"Just about. Not exactly what I grew up to-" Cicero stops, mid-sentence. He lets out a small sigh. "Yeah, the weather's fine." Cicero says, trying desperately not to cry.
The farm burned, and an elderly couple lay dead. Their infant daughter wails as Morai bear down on her. The barn was on fire, and their reptilian cattle lay with their throats slit. Their elderly guard dog was dead, a bullet having ruptured his heart. Teenage Cicero runs to the ruins nearby. The voice would help, the voice that always spoke to him would grant him revenge...
Luke was surprised that anyone noticed him. He raised a hand at all the other knights in acknowledgment to their greetings, then stumbled towards a wall. Slumping against it, Like rested slowly feeling better. After a minute or two, he felt better. Not too much better, but better. Wonder when those missiles ar- The ground shook as the war-heads exploded. Against, the wall Luke didn't see where they hit, but he heard cheering throughout the Arcade. Feeling a bit energized from the rise in morale, he pulled himself off the ground and made his way to the gateway. There was dust everywhere, Luke couldn't see anything outside of the Arcade. He squinted, and saw movement inside the dust. He wasn't the only one who noticed, other knights were getting ready for the final battle to save haven. Luke looked at the giant shield he was somehow carrying on his arm, This might help. He positioned himself to one side of the entrance, taking his position at one side of the shield wall. He heard a knight say,
"Here they come!"
Cicero was broken out of his reverie when a hard snowball smacked him in the face. Gwen's eyes narrowed as frustration and anger took hold of her. "I can read your mind, blockhead. Get that self-pitying gel splat out of your thick head and keep your eyes on the real world. Trust me, you've got better things to do than to kiss yourself over spilt milk."
She reeled back in fake shock. "Oh, did that hurt? Well pardon me, but I got sob stories that would make yours run home to its dead mommy screaming. But am I crying? Do I look like I'm crying? If you ever see me crying, it's 'cause you were too busy whining to back me up. Now move your arse."
She angrily threw another snowball into the ground and marched down the trail she'd found a few minutes ago.
Cicero sprints after her, tripping Gwen as he walks by.
"Right. Because your ENTIRE family was murdered in one fell swoop. You damn Valkyries, all happy in your Heaven or wherever the hell you live. Apparently, they raise a lot of ignorant b****es, because you are too ignorant and STUPID to see down the end of your own nose. You have NO IDEA, what the Morai did to us, do you!? Oh, I'm not surprised. That's what I would expect from some stuck up little princess... waitaminute. Your not a princess, are you? That's because your a QUEEN! Prepare to die. This is for the countless innocents you murdered."
Cicero draws his sword, appalled that he had been seduced so easily.
Gwen closed her eyes.
Do what you will. I've caused too much suffering over my lifetime. I destroyed my own kingdom with my incompetence. I killed and ate people alive during my insanity. I permanently destroyed the mind of my former avatar in the split. It's time to end it all.
Cicero approaches Gwen, his sword in hand. He prepares to chop her head off her shoulders, when he pauses.
This would be murder. She deserves a trial
"Lucky day. I have a better idea then field justice." Cicero sneers. "I thought it fit, that I frogmarch you in front of the people you betrayed." Cicero then proceeds to pull his piece of leather and makeshift eye patch out of his pack.
"Hands forward," He says, preparing to bind her at the wrists. "your majesty."
"DO NOT put your hands on me, you filthy murderer. My hands are clean. I can read minds, so I can clearly see when someone is about to commit murder. I have only slain those who were intent on unjustly killing the innocent. There were a few I couldn't save in time though, like the one on the D4 Terminal whom YOU killed. Don't you DARE touch me until you have paid for your sins."
begining the rerouting process for the defense system, Marsh kept a ear to the arious radio chatter coming into the small station. It was halfway through the process when it came in.
That's because your a QUEEN! Prepare to die. This is for the countless innocents you murdered.
You don't mean.
Abaondoning the process alltogether, he left the wires bare as he focused entirely on the source of the transmission.
Soldier-cam: Cicero
This was the queen? It had been many years, but how did she start to look like that? and she was to be given a trial? No
The intercom sparked to lfe over the lush world that housed the accused and makeshift sheriff
"FOUND YOU"
The demonic voice rang out, as the level began to shift, turning it into night instantly, and causing small parts of it to crumble.
"Ahm’ov icha domosh, Izh acha vo’domosh" (only one can rule, you are no leader.)
Decades had he waited for this moment, now was the time
Cicero smashes her in the head hard enough to knock someone cold, with the butt of his Polaris.
Grumbling Blesse typed one more command in as the War-heads hit their targets with pinpoint precision. It would have been a lie to say the Gremlins' weapons destroyed the ships, no it would be the truth to say it turned them into hollow scraps. Purity. In a bright light of flames and dark clouds the massive ships feel into the darkness below, some on the clifs before the fall and others just barely slipping past. If anyone was to blame for the killing of so many it was indeed Blesse for she was the one who ordered the strike and put all those souls into the void.
Well, even if I am doomed to meet the killer I did it to protect Haven that's all that matters. As for the stragglers I could pinpoint them... Rushing to her console as quickly as she could Blesse input the signal of the Morai who where remaining based off the Batteries that were firing down on them from above. Once she was done she sent the program outwards updating any knights HUD map to show the location of the Morai troops. It seemed taking the information she had was a good idea after all. Alright, that should take care of the soldiers for now. Forgive me Baron, I might have stepped my bounds in calling the artillery strike but I am sure you will forgive me. As for right now, its time to show them what a real fire display is.
With one quick press of the console she turned it over to one of the Intel officer's who where appointed to the Hall in this time, turning to the door she smiled as a message was sent outwards from the console before she left.
Soldier's of the Spiral Order, the Morai force's have been crippled to the point we can repel them. If the Baron is willing, we should work on EVACing all wounded to the Girmmison as quickly as possible for the field medic's and doctor's to start treatment. Also, we should look into helping the strangers and vendor's shops. Looting will be a problem till the Military Police can regain control over the city. As for me, I am leaving a Intel officer in charge for I believe its time I stepped in and started a little bomb-fire for our guest.
The message was read aloud via the Intel Officer and text sent from Blesse. Once she was outside she reached over and flipped a few switch's, followed by the sound of a Pilot light turning on. Yet it was not her Flame Unit that should Have worried people, it was her ability that she has not show in quite some time.
[Elzilia blazes her way up the spire, there were no stairs. Only a golden flat road paved all the way to the top, the roof top of the golden spire is covered with cloud and shreds of thunders. The spire is shaped in the form of a double helix, with small libraries entwined within. The Valkyrie scholars, who are non-combatants fled for their life when the Morai intruder arrived. Elzilia did not spare any mercy for these winged book worms, she cornered one of them and activates her plasma blades.]
Valkyrie scholar: *trembles* “Please, have mercy!”
Elzilia: “Where was your queen’s mercy when she slaughtered all those people?”
Valkyrie scholar: *sweats* “Please, I have no idea what you are talking about!”
Elzilia: *licks her lips* “You look nice and fat… mind if I have a taste?!”
[The poor scholar didn’t know what hits her, Ezilia slices off her arm and begins to fest off its flesh. The scholar soon died of blood loss, but Elzilia continued to fest on the scholar’s corpse, as soon as there is no more meat left, Ezilia’s eyes glowed red, her jagged teeth are smeared with the blood of her victim. The Valkyrie knights stared astonishingly at the intruder, their jaws dropped at the travesty that was committed on their fellow sister, one of them is sent to a blinding rage.]
Valkyrie knight: *fires her blitz needle at Elzilia* “YOU MONSTER!!!”
[The needle shreds through Elzilia’s bio steel armour and she is quickly riddled with bullets. But that didn’t kill her, the bio steel becomes resistant and started to push the needles out of Elzilia’s flesh. The Valkyries panicked when they witnessed Elzilia’s recovery.]
Elzilia: *laughs maniacally* “WHO IS NEXT?!”
Valkyrie knights: “Retreat! Get to Judge Ginos!”
Elzilia: “Don’t run away!” *licks the blood out of her face* “We are just getting started!”
Affraiel: *cuts into her frequency* “Hey, Reaper girl, are you feeling okay?”
Elzilia: *puts the radio on mute mode* “Heh Heh Heh…” *proceeds the slaughter*
Affraiel: “Damn,” *cuts into Ursulan’s frequency* “Hey, Manus, I think reaper has just gone insane, she is on a feeding frenzy or something…”
Ursulan: *winces* “Oh no… don’t tell me she didn’t eat her daily rations…”
Affraiel: “Hun?”
[Usrulan moves the Ravager next to the spire and changed the setting to auto-pilot, he jumps down from the hatch and pursued Elzilia. Meanwhile, Elzilia managed to cut down another Valkyrie knight and started to devour her flesh. Before the starving reaper could react, Ursulan jumps onto her back and injected a shot of concentrated glucose into her neck. Elzilia’s bloodlust faded away and she returned to her normal self.]
Usrulan: *wipes the sweat off his forehead* “…Phew, that is the third time you went on such a frenzy… do you glad to have me around now?”
[Elzilia comes to her senses when she glanced at Ursulan, it has been so long since they first met. Uruslan, is similar in terms of age, bald, but has a pair of sharp eyes that can see through her every thought. Dressed in the standard Morai gunship pilot uniform, Ursulan looks rather handsome, for a bald man.]
Elzilia: “Sorry about that, I overdid the killing thing…”
Ursulan: *sighs* “I just heard from Captain Krypto that our assault on Haven is a failure, let’s not disappoint him further by failing our mission. We need to get on with the destruction of the spire…”
Taking a moment Blesse opened up the control pannel for the main defence's of Haven. She was opening to get a bird eye view of the battle field and act like a messager. Being better suited for a battle was her thing but her mind was the most importen element in this moment. With a few clicks of the keyboard she opened up the hollow screen and turned it into a 3D view on the Console to get her a better view of everything that was going on based on the information coming across the network and camera's of knights helms.
(Thin I need you to give me a visual when you get a chance here.)
