Why do resistances work the way they do?

Many sets, as you know, come with natural resistances. For example wearing a vog cub set gives what it seems to be a maximum fire resistance. I know that the bar limit is not really a limit since values can go beyond it, but this is not what this thread is about. What's important here is that having a full fire resistance bar with vog cub set is the same as having any other non fire-resistant set with two lows fire uvs, and this works for any resistance and any set. Why? I mean, WHY would you do it this way?

If you had to pick 1 gun?

This is my first post, and it's inspired by the 2 page and ongoing thread about gun balance.

The previous post in question has basically pushed me toward being a bomber, since guns don't seem viable (or at least not viable enough according to many.)

I'm a new player, and I'm very interested in playing a gunner, but since I'm now basically set on bombing, i was wondering which gun(s) would be best as a side arm when I'm not bombing (note that i have zero interest in being yet another melee knight)

2 possible ARMOR sets for every occasion, Look Decent for FSC? =D

Set 1:
Grey Owlite
~UV piercing HIGH
Armor of the Fallen
Helm of the fallen

Armor: Normal, Shadow, Elemental, Piercing
Resists: Fire, Poison, SHock

Set 2:
Grey Owlite
Vog Cub Cap
~UV shadow High
Skolver Coat

Armor: Normal, Piercing, Elemental, Shadow
Resists: Fire, Freeze, Shock

Set 1 has more shadow than elemental
Set 2 is vice versa

So my questions:
1. For everyday runs it looks pretty balanced to me. I know it's not specialized towards 1 thing, but in you opinion do they look pretty viable?
2. Would both sets hold up in FSC?

My planned 5* Gear - need some advice

Hi together,

I've been playing a few days (since available on Steam), with some friends of mine. After looking through the Wiki I put together a 5* setup I'd like to use. Just wanted to ask, the experienced ones around here, what you are thinking about this.

So many have seen the thread Ask a Master Gunslinger Anything by FossaFerox, but seeing as how he hasn't really came back I decided to take it upon myself to start up another. All credit goes to him for the idea (and much of the original layout), I'm just starting another. Who knows? Maybe you'll get a viewpoint that Fossa wouldn't have noticed. Wolver Coat and Cap

So the Wiki and the in-game tooltip and item description for the Wolver Cap and the Wolver Coat state that the coat and cap offer +1 health, and the wiki says +2 health at heat level 5 or greater.

The in-game tooltip and item description only display the health bonus when in town or a safe area within the clockworks, such as depth 4/8/12/etc.

Yet in a zone with mobs, the tooltip changes. It no longer shows the health bonus. Nor is there any actual increase in player health. Is it actually a buff to shield health? or is it not supposed to actually buff health?

Is anyone getting a little worried about the inflating energy prices?

I've already haggled prices that were 4.5k to 4.6k, but 5k? I'm broke...
Anyone else having trouble in this market? These prices reflect our economy right now...

Hey forum, I'm currently wearing:
Ash tail cap
Ash tail coat (low fire resist uv)
Wise owlite
Silent nightblade
Avenger (just got this)

Also have:
Master blast bomb
Ascended calibur

My questions:
1. Should i upgrade both armour pieces to vog or one skolver and one vog?
2. Any tips for using 2 swing swords (avenger in particular)?
3. Any tips for tier 3?

Gun for use vs gremlins

I know gunning vs gremlins is an exercise in frustation and futility with their dodging and all, but I tend to bleed HP when sniping gremlin healers or just engaging with my sword, while stringing them out and kiting them lets me kill them eventually as long as I don't screw up massively. (Done a deconstruction zone with an elemental alchemer, yay >_<)

Which gun would be better for gremlins, blackhawk line or umbra driver?
Should I try a magnus instead to stun them down?
