This is not another one of those "Remove AutoAim" topics, but a compromise between AA supporters and AA haters...

I am not one of those who oppose or support AA in SK, just a middle man looking to provide a solution to this controversial conflict with AA. Personally, I have mine disabled because it feels more fluid and better precision is provided in various situations.
Yes, I agree to the supporters that it's useful for users of controllers and those with bad connections. However, I also agree with those who oppose as it does make many of those who use it too much cheat to the top.

With all these verbal wars in the forums between the players who support AA and those who oppose it, how about changing the LD server configurations to please both parties, by creating 2 new lobby categories: Hardcore LD for both PvP and GvG. It seems Feyi-Feyi had the basics of this idea in a previous forum post, but here is what I propose as how both PvP and GvG LD would be split:

1) Traditional LD: AA is available and can be toggled on or off, as it is currently. Perfect for players or guilds new to LD, those with bad connections, and those who feel uneasy about running a match without AA.
2) Hardcore LD: AA is disabled by default and cannot be enabled. Perfect for players who prefer a better challenge, or those who oppose facing AA users in the traditional lobbies. A true test for the LD Elite.

These changes would also provide separate LD rankings for both Traditional and Hardcore, so you'll know who has scored the most points in either category.
However I cannot guarantee this will solve the problem on the side of new LD players and those who cannot play without AA, I do understand the possibility of 1 or both scenarios could result in this:

1) Veteran LD players who are tired facing AA users will leave for Hardcore LD, which may result in a more balanced LD for the rest of the players who had struggled in the past.
2) Experienced LD players who enjoy slaughtering "Noobs" for fun may end up continuing to use Traditional LD and could be declared as trolls by inexperienced players who are struggling to lay a hand on those veterans in the Traditional LD lobbies, which wouldn't be good for those who were hoping Hardcore LD would alleviate the threat of a 10-20k LD players beating them constantly or spawn-camping for kills.

I am not sure if OOO will get this idea, but I cannot predict the future anyways. Who knows if a "Coliseum Update" eventually gets created and ends up doing just that. We'll just see if it possibly happens in the next few years, more or less. All I know is OOO will certainly keep AA around for the unforeseen future.

OOO doesn't care about making PvP truly competitive

Anti-Aliasing is a very nice feature to have, it makes my Nitronome smoother.

I think...

This is a good compomise

I think that there should be a Third category aswell. Easy LD for the new players who don't want to suffer Acherons and Pollari (Polarruses? Polarises? Rolly Polly Ollies?) There is a restricted weapon list removing weapons that are Unbalanced or Generally OP. Whaddya think?

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

the problem with any lobby separation is that the LD queues will take longer to complete, and not playing isn't better than playing with someone with AT on.

One upon a time, there was a cow. A very special cow...

And Lockdown takes too long for an insignificant minigame, AS IS

I have AT off by default, just a mention.

"And Lockdown takes too long for an insignificant minigame, AS IS"

This.

You could always just deal with it instead of being an elitist. Knowing you have more skill than a player should be enough, just because you can't stand their AT doesn't mean you have to prove or change anything.

@Valtiros
I see there were many suggestions regarding alternatives to the AA/AT situation, but they are slightly different from my idea (disabling AT in LD, players creating custom lobbies, etc.). Mine would of worked by creating extra classes in each tier of LD the same way OOO had LD separated between PvP and GvG.
I just wanted to get my idea out.

@Flame-Shinobi
Adding a easy mode lobby by restricted controversial weapons (Acheron, Polaris, etc.) would be nice for those who hate them, but the odds that this would be less than the possibility of this suggestion happening.

@Thunder-The-Bright & @Ironic-Biscuit
A longer waiting time is possible in the current state of LD lobbies, but if the LD lobbies are reconfigured to sort lobbies by Tiers and between PvP or GvG more effectively, each match can start a bit quicker. Maybe a possible "Coliseum Update" could settle that issue.

@Dibsville
I'm okay with the current LD configuration myself. I may not be the best LD player by any means (averaging 4-7k damage and 5 caps in T3 LD). but I can accept fighting players who are more skilled than me.
I'm simply putting this out to see if this would be a good idea in the future.

Eah...

This sort of is the same thread, honestly. I've made threads about making a lockdown difficulty setting that mirrors the PvE difficulty settings, and a few months later followed up with this thread about making family damage boosts reflect the Lockdown classes. In my first thread I linked, tag on "auto target is removed" from the "elite" difficulty, and you're got something that works just in general.

Now-a-days, I just think the family bonuses should be applied to lockdown. Auto Target is really just a feature that people make a big stink about because it's easy to put blame on.

@Fangel
I seen your posts. Your suggestion is a good idea.

I agree with you on the fact provided about your suggestions. PvE bonuses enabled in Elite LD is a twist that can add more strategy to LD. Players will have to adjust their gear to not only adapt to the weapons in advance, but the monster family bonuses mounted on those weapons. In this type of play (if I'm correct), a full no-UVed Snarbolax armor set user is now completely vulnerable to piercing and elemental damage as well as Undead and Fiend damage bonuses (due to the gear's shadow defense). If AT was disabled in your suggestion for Elite LD as well, that would really make things even more challenging but fun.

On the other note provided, I also agree that AT is a feature provided by OOO that is given a bad rep and this is certainly because players in LD are easily putting the blame on a player that may or may not have been using AT in the first place, simply because that player either performed too well for their expectations, or was capable or taking down 1 or more targets unusually quick with insane accuracy.

@Klipik-Forum
That idea does sound great. It is better than my idea, but it would require a far greater overhaul in the PvP and GvG servers.
The suggestion given by Thrillhaus would likely mimic most FPS or Racing game lobbies, where lobbies are manually created by the player/host and each feature (AutoTarget, UVs, Revives, etc.) could be turned on or off and those settings would stay as long as that lobby is in effect. Any other players would then be able choose which active lobby they want to join.

Oh here's an idea

This just popped into my head, but we could totally have a "lobby finder", similar to the "Party Finder" we already have. Perhaps this would be accessible while in the coliseum tab, and lobbies could have certain rules set up, and a voting system for a random selection of 3-5 maps. This could also carry over the blast network, and have players vote/party leader choose how many power-ups everyone starts with, and the max of each power-up.

It's better to have something work on all coliseum games instead of just making it for one gamemode only. We wouldn't be happy if missions didn't venture into tier 3, so why cut out these lobbies from other and future coliseum games?

@Fangel
Adding a "PvP Party Finder" sounds like a good idea, makes it easier to join a lobby with your preferred rules and/or that has your friend or guildmate in it.

Also, adding lobbies with customizable rules to Blast Network would be great too. It'll allow for more variety in the games like enabling/disabling friendly fire, as well as limiting blast range, speed boosts, and bombs spawned per player to a certain rate.
Maybe even be able to toggle a "easy mode" setting that reduces the minimum speed of players at the start of the event as well as increasing the charging time of bombs, so new Blast Network players can get used to the increasing pace a bit easier.

This could bring PvP lobbies as a whole to a whole new level, and more players would be able to to enjoy it!
