My graphics card is a piece of cardboard, and I was trying to fix graphics on Java, and I messed up big time.
1. I went too processes on task manager while SK was running.
2. I right-clicked Java. (I know SK uses Java)
3. Went to properties.
4. I clicked that compatibility tab.
5. I thought if I set it in compatibility mode, it would stop frame lag, so I set it in compatibility mode for an earlier version like windows 95 (I don’t know really I am sure it was that, but I think this is where I screwed up Java )

So, I decided to come back to the game after a hiatus since halloween, and on the whole I'm enjoying being back.

...is what I'd like to say.
Unfortunately, for some reason it seems after a certain amount of time elapses, my signal goes into the red, I begin rubber banding, I can no longer see my own speech bubbles and finally I get booted to the login menu saying I've been disconnected from the server. I've mostly been socialising so it wasn't too big a deal, but it became a serious problem just after I beat an arena because the game became totally unplayable.

So im having problems runnign the game and before suggesting the general stuff i was able to paly a few days ago and im kinda wondering that maybe the new java has to do with it somthing buuuut
the game launches i get the window but its all black no sound no nothing just a new window wit hthe SK sing on it.
plz helllPPPP!!! wanan play again >.<"!

what is causing lags?
Which are the main causes?
How can we fix them?

In a easy and schematic way, please, I don't even know what a server is..

The situation is that when I play SpiralKnights on Steam the game client pops-up and displays "insert username, password or login as guest", the usual icons and buttons. BUT NOOO AUTOMATIC STEAM LOGIN! So i currently have both the steam and downloadable client installed which both display the same information when clicked. So is there a problem having 2 of the similar game clients? or just a java malfunction?

Is there any possible way I can change my login name? because steam created my account for me and my login is some convoluted name with a ton of numbers in it. And I can't reset my password because the website thinks my login name is invalid. And when I try to login via Steam the game just closes for no reason.

I was tweaking around with my Java, to reduce framelag, and I went to properties on task manager for Java and then on compability; I pressed the "Run this program in compability mode for an earlier version of windows, and now, Java is not responding, and I can't download SK on any website without google chrome not responding. I reinstalled Java, but once I did the verify Java test, the page on my browser stopped working! I can open it without steam, but the window shows for one second, then it dissapears but says Java is still running.

Every time I try to run from browser I get the message "0% complete m.create_getdown_failed" at the top of the mini-game window in the browser. It is in black letters at the top left hand corner of the loading screen.

I can post a screenshot of what it looks like if I can.

Ok, so I have always had a problem with massive framerate drops, freezes, and rubber banding when playing SK on minimum graphics and transients culled, and just assumed it was the fault of my poor little laptop. I created an alt account because I got bored and installed SK on linux instead of windows, and to my delight I found that everything was smooth! I can run the game on max graphics with 16x antialiasing with render effects on all while being run fullscreen on a 1920x1080p HD external display...and everything runs swimmingly!

But does the website version of SK not work now? Does Spiral Knights only run on steam?
