Am I crazy, or am I just obsessed with guilds? As a side-note, I do realize that there have been threads like this before, but I wanted to make my own thread for a couple reasons...firstly because I know it'll stay alive if I want it to, and secondly because the others have been dead for a while.
(For Guild HALL-related improvements as opposed to guild functionality improvements, see my Guild Hall Upgrades thread.) [OLD]
EDIT: Guild Hall Expansion was released! Woopy-kye-ay! Should you have things you wanted to see in the update but didn't show up, please discuss them here now in my new V2 thread.
Anyway, down to business...
As it stands, Guild administration is quite limited. You can either have pointless titles up to Veteran for your Guild Members, or they have the full ability to kick everyone from the Guild except other Officers and GMs. Wow, that makes a lot of sense!
So, I'm going to start up a list of Guild Administration options that should be in place...I'm sure there are many good ideas out there, so feel free to add to them. I'm also probably going to pull up some dead threads' ideas since this idea isn't new to the forums.
1 - Add/Rename Ranks: This gives the Guild Master(s) the ability to increase the number and change the names of the ranks. At present, there are Recruit, Member, Veteran, Officer, GM.
I think a few guilds, especially the larger ones would like to have more than just 3 name-sake ranks before any administration powers are given to them. Or, perhaps more ranks with more limited administration than Officers? Which brings us to our next point.
To avoid ambiguity (If someone renamed the "Guild Master" rank, how would you know who it was?), you could add some sort of "Badge" on the icon by the name. For instance, Guild Masters would have a Crown surrounding their location icon (The little image that shows where you're at), "Officers" would have something like Golden Wings on each side, while "Veterans" would have Silver Wings on each side. Members could have Bronze Wings on each side, and then Recruits would be left with nothing to decorate them.
There would be a few extra decals for extra ranks since you could add them. I'd imagine there'd be a limit of ranks that you could add, probably 5 Ranks (Not including Officers/GMs), so the UI would just ask you when making the rank which decal you'd want to use. There could be like a Bronze, Silver, Golden, and Crystalline/Jeweled Star, then some Crystalline Wings/Jeweled Wings. I think that many decals should be enough. Just for experiment's sake.
2 - Administration Adjustments: This gives the Guild Master(s) the ability to adjust the powers related to each rank. If you wanted Veterans to be able to recruit new members, but not be able to kick anyone, you'd be able to set that rank for the specified criteria; should you wish for Officers to not be able to kick any members at all, you'd be able to set Officers to that criteria, etc. etc.
NOTE: The original Guild Master would have priority over the other Guild Masters in the group, which is an odd way of saying that he'd be the only one that could adjust all these settings. Guild Masters that have been promoted to that position wouldn't be able to unless the original Guild Master was not in the Guild.
3 - Guild Member Threshold Increased: I think it's unnecessary (Or shouldn't be necessary) for Guilds to have multiple branches just because you can only fit X amount of Members in a Guild. It should be increased so that it isn't required (Or purchasable at least). I know this isn't a new request for sure. [ADDED IN-GAME]
4 - Guild 1 Vs Guild 1 PvP: I realize that it would be easy to set-up matches to make one team perpetually win, but Guild vs Same Guild matches should be available. KCs could be adjusted to not drop, though I wouldn't really see a problem with bribing Krogmo since you still pay for those Coins..but that could be a cheap way to farm for them nonetheless.
I'd imagine that you pay 200 CR to enter, winning team each get 280 CR, but no other rewards at all. You're losing more crowns than you are making so there's no exploitation there that I can see.
I think this could solve a few issues, especially pertaining to "practicing Lockdown". That's essentially what you'd be doing in a situation like this.
EDIT: Found a few ideas from an old dead thread. Hip hip hooray~
5 - Rank Drop-Down List(Stolen from Kinggobi's thread): When promoting someone, a drop-down list showing all the ranks available would appear. This way you wouldn't have to promote someone from Recruit, to Member, to Veteran if they are a returning member, for instance. Just a tad bit of convenience.
6 - Guild Member Force Sensitivity(Stolen from the same thread): On the mini-map, Guild Members would appear distinctly, either with a small "G" on the mini-map, or their player color (Like in a dungeon).
7 - For the Newbies(And again): A message that would pop up upon joining a guild which states: "You have joined [Guild Name], to speak in the Guild chat, type /g before your sentence."
8 - Guild Titles: Covered in this thread.
9 - Logging Notification (Suggested by Mikaxsus): Basically whenever someone logs off it says "Guild Master/Officer/Veteran/Member/Recruit (Name Here) Has logged on/off".
9.5 - (Suggested by Kentard): The ability to adjust the logging notification to only appear on the Chat when someone of X rank or higher logs out. EX: If you set it to Guild Master, you'd only get a logging notification when the Guild Master(s) log out.
10 - Guild-Exclusive "Mini-games": Some mini-games strictly for guilds that require a lot of team cooperation, and would be less suitable for random players than for guilds. An example of one such game could be Zxeroadvent's Game, in which player cooperation is vital. Any ideas concerning his thread or more mini-games are welcome. =)
11 - Guild Visible Ranks (Suggested by Ndogten): A rank that would be beside your guild's name above your head (Similar to how your Prestige Rank appears by your name), which would be dictated by your rank in your guild.
Example:
Guild Master
Mwahahaha
I'm positive there are many other good ideas out there, so feedback is most welcome. Let's keep this one alive.
