New User Experience
The Crash Site, Rescue Camp and Rescue Camp Missions have been revamped. New players will now meet their pal Rhendon and join him as they save the Rescue Camp from the monsters that lurk in the dark and the evil gremlin Schemer, Razwog.

This new experience is a taste of what's to come in the Spiral Knights story. Stay tuned!

Items
- All bombs have had their damage output increased by 15%
- All handguns have had their damage increased by 10% and their charge attack damage increased by 20%

Minor art changes to the following Swords:
- Slime Slasher
- Super Slime Slasher
- Beast Basher
- Big Beast Basher

Fuse time increased:
- Master Blast Bomb
- Spike Shower

Status power increased:
- Cold Snap
- Static Flash
- Firecracker

Bullet Speed increased, minor knock-back added, charge shot damage radius increased:
- Proto Gun
- Stun Gun
- Frost Gun
- Super Stun Gun
- Zapper
- Blaster
- Super Blaster
- Master Blaster
- Valiance

Moderate Knock-Back added, MEDIUM construct damage added, extra shot added before reload:
- Punch Gun
- Pummel Gun

- Robo Wrecker (0* sword) and Rugged Robo Wrecker (1* sword) have been added to the Bazaar catalogs

Monsters
- All retrodes have received a slight health reduction.

Levels
- Many levels now have beautiful new lighting, effects, backgrounds, etc.
- Tier 1 levels now convey the proximity to Cradle's surface while deeper levels lose sunlight and become darker.
- Crown and heat payouts have received further balancing, most notably in the Royal Jelly Palace.
- Battle Arena-style mission levels have received an overhaul and now feature new rooms and a slick new presentation.

UI
- Conversation text now fades in line by line.
- The character-selection screen has received a small visual update. 'Location' has also been replaced with 'Rank.'
- Spanish, German and French languages have received more thorough translations. Mission and level names are now translated.

Bugfixes
- Fixed a bug where switching weapons could cause bullet damage to be modified.
- Fixed a bug with coliseum payouts in certain rare circumstances.
- Fixed a bug with saving a knight after anonymous login.
- Fixed the Arcane Salamander Mask to display personalized eyes.

Just what we need, an overhaul for t1.

I get that OOO is trying to make the game more appealing to the newbies, but could we have a significant patch for the long time, mostly F2P players who don't want just another CE promo or some patch that doesn't primarily apply to them?

Also, I hope the balancing of RJP means more crowns, because it really it.

What about the Iron Slug?

I'm curious about the Iron Slug. Per this post (#15), is the mentioned improvement aligned with the damage increase for guns or is there something more?

Gunning and bombing might be useful in t1 LD now.

Bombs were already pretty useful for recons. Hammer jockeys just looove dashing into them.

What I love about gaming - the scenery!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope this won't cause fps lag with these added effects. Well I already have things disabled tho.. bahhh..

Out of curiousity, why are these weapon change updates generally spread out? Is it so that each one has content alongside it (Like the resuce camp here) or are certain weapon changes harder to implement for whatever reason?

Also, is the Gremlin a Punk Scorcher?

Razgog is indeed the 'punk' scorcher in the game files.

The Antigua line, Pulsar line and Blitz Needle were the only ones that weren't in need of a buff. Besides that, this update makes guns and bombs much more viable, which is only beneficial.

* Tier 1/2 stuff is now

- As a 5* player, I'm finding it difficult to really care, but it's nice for new players I suppose.

* Guns and bombs should be more useful.

- The game is easy enough as it is. Instead of buffing guns/bombs, I feel like swords should've been significantly nerfed (all swords' damage reduced by 30%?)

* New lighting, new arenas

- Exciting. Probably the most interesting part of the patch for me. Looking forward to it.

Echoez - We're a very small team, so we try to work on a variety of things at once in order to have a variety of things shippable. This means we cannot spend too much time on one particular area with each patch, so we try to target smaller batches within each area of content, like item balance.

Yup, it's nice that bombers can also go full attack instead of supporting with effects, but about the guns it's a lame way to deal with it. It may cause balance between guns and swords but not between guns themselves it will be like comparing wolver lines to any other armor when using swords.

Valiance in LD just got more annoying.... yay!
Assuming there were actual changes to it. I can't fathom the bullets going any faster than already, or more knockback being applied, though.

Gunning in general just got more deadly.

Firstly congratulations Spiral team. This patch looks like it will make a good balance between the damage with swords, guns and bombs, swords as always triumphed when it comes to damage, making the line wolver was always the most popular. Now I've been working on a gunner gear, and I predict many players doing the same.
Finally a question, RJP will give more or less profit after the patch?

Oh boy, Asuka's here!

Glad you could make it to the party, Asuka. Try not to have too much fun.

This patch is awesome because it makes everything more viable. Swords were not nerfed, but the alternatives to swording just got a huge boost in usability. I'm sure more knights will strongly consider guns or bombs now that their damage output has been increased across the board.

I'm glad the charge shots got a boost as well. Now there should be more reward for the huge risk a gunner takes in unleashing one of those shots.

Hahaha, take that OOO fanboys, "Omgomgomg, new patch i luv you <3<3<3" and "balancing payouts means also incrase, not only decrase" guys who defended so much OOO after they introduced series of crown payout balances.

And im perfectly "meh whatever" with bombs and gun patch. They propably added it to make weak mind think that they care for existing players. It would look silly if they would make an update that would bring NOTHING to current players so they added it as an 'extras'

And of course another nerf, a step towards making SK a shuttlebot fest. Now the poor retrodes got hit. What will be next? A spike traps will be nerfed to stay on the ground all the time, since they were hard to spot, even if they are flashing like hell before appearing?

The game has gotten harder to reach end-game content THUS buying Three Rings time to work on their upcoming projects. Tier 1, Tier 2, & Tier 3 will hopefully be occupied. I hope to see a wave of newbies coming in soon. Like I've said, th SK community used to be more selfless..

I CAN ACCEPT THIS FACT OF LESS CROWN INCOME IF THIS IS TRUE OF MY STATEMENT. Otherwise I will not be feeling frabjous this week.

Seriously Asuka, why are you here anymore?

Weren't you complaining a loooong time ago about Missions and no one running the Clockworks anymore? I think this will push people back out into the randomized roguelike world of the Clockworks, getting them out of the grind and back into the game. Sure, RJP is still fun and all, but I don't mind hopping on a random elevator in the Arcade and seeing what happens.

The game's what you make of it; if you want to optimize your crown/heat payout and power game, you'll just have to find another way to do that, it seems. I hear FSC is nice this time of year.

While I appreciate the

While I appreciate the gun/bomb buffs, I'm pretty annoyed that most of the huge changes in the last 6 months only apply to either paid players (shadow lairs, OCH) or newbies (character creation, crash site). When are we going to get a new tier 3 boss or some new 4-5* weapons?

When will the OOO answer in our petition topic?

Nick appeared here like 3 or more times, he answered in silly "vanaduke grunt" topic but is ignoring a petition from 5 pages of players who demand to be threated equally to new players who are allowed to have 100kCR + changes for free, while just few days ago all current players had to pay for same thing.

0*/1* buffs are a good thing.

0*/1* buffs are a good thing. Tier 1 is the demo for the the rest of the game, so it makes sense that the gear that claims to have specific purposes actually do just that. A lot of the gear was far too similar to the point of redundancy (slime slashers/beast bashers) or impractical to use (bombs).
The unification of the punch gun with the magnus makes sense, so does the introduction of knockback for all the other triple shooters - no more surprise when someone makes the valiance

I guess if you are going to tweak a huge catalog of gear, it make sense to start from the beginning... so fingers crossed

Asukulan, you are a Tier 3 player @ end-game content with an arsenal of 5* gear. They are newbies in Tier 1 with thwacker swords. I don't seen why you should be jealous of newbies?
