No, Im not a noob. Im wearing a 3 star outfit, Genius -.-
The energy market is player driven, can't really blame OOO. Supply vs. Demand, simple as that. If you just paid $20 for a CE pack and are putting it up for sale, would you sell it for 8.5k/100CE if people were willing to pay that or would you sell it for 6k/100CE and cheat yourself out of a significant amount of crowns? I see no reason why a seller would do such a thing. If the prices get to a point where no one can/will pay for it the prices will obviously drop.
I want prices to low down because I hear alot of knights complaining about prices. I want it just right, not too expensive.....
Step 1: make account
Step 2: open energy depot
Step 3: buy $1,000,000,000 of CE
Step 4: sell it for 200 crowns per 100 CE
Step 5: repeat step 4 until you run out of CE (10 million times)
Step 6: no one buys CE for 8k crowns anymore, and people are forced to lower their selling prices.
Now all we need is a billionaire... (I am not a billionaire nor an economist, so will someone please tell me if this would work or not?)
Well here's the short version. Too many players buying energy and not enough players selling. More people that buy energy the less there is, thus lrice goes up. Want to lower the price? Introduce more CE in the market. Also, your fourm avatar doesn't reflect your ingame character, if it did some people would be boxes.
I don't think there is ever a shortage of CE.
A while ago I saw the cheapest CE sell offer is around 8500. The top CE buy offer is around 8200. So I placed a batch of 10 buy orders at 8300, and they instantly got processed. I placed more and more, and I bought 6k CE within 5 minutes. That happened many times, including more batches of 6k CE and one batch of 7.5k CE, all recorded in my CE history.
There are plenty of eager CE sellers. They just want the best price for their real money spent, which is understandable. What should be the best price? The highest the buyers are willing to pay.
You can see how much you can make each day, using only mist, in this excellent guide: Making it Without Breaking it: The Guide to F2P Success in SK (http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/56650)
If CE price is to be raised to the absolute maximum price, it would be 16000 crowns, the output of two King of Ashes missions. The current price is only half of that. As the guide shows, you can convert 100 mist into 100 CE even with current price.
Note that the above statement carries one assumption: that F2P should be able to convert 100 mist into 100 CE everyday.
Should you really? There is no standard for it. Is the exchange ratio of 200 mist to 100 CE really too much to ask?
F2P gets completely free entertainment; and get to turn 100 mist into 100 CE everyday. 11 days of effort for a 5* item (counting the CE and recipe) - I'd say it's pretty decent progress. If you want to try something new, then go do it! No need to farm the same levels for weeks. Lowered crown output will merely add a few more days.
OOO can induce a stronger need for crowns (and they have done so before, see UV rolling and featured auctions), but they are not required to do so. OOO needs to make a profit, so they want you to buy CE. CE will always be better than crowns. That will never change.
If you like fighting the monsters, doing the missions and diving into the clockworks, keep playing and crowns will come.
If you do not like those activities, why are you still here?
If you cannot farm as the guide described, spending too much on revives, you haven't acquired the skills to make a profit. Forget about upgrading items, ask some veteran players to train you. SK is a skill based game - when you have skill, you will prevail even into proto armor. Learn how to survive before worrying about making money.

Thread about the energy market.
I made a recent post about this exact same topic not too long ago explaining as briefly as possible why people who are soiling their rubber pants should cut it out and stop trying to rely on Three Rings to change their diapers for them. If I find it or anything else it will be linked below.
There was this unintelligible mess, this bland and weak pitch, and countless other threads with the exact same topic and results.
simple demand-supply mechanism,
stop crying.
1) 'Noob', means nothing in terms of gear. You can buy your way into 5* in three seconds for all anyone cares, you're still a noob if you have no-idea what you're doing. Ran into two of those on my last FSC run. They sucked. Badly. Worse than me on a bad day. They didn't notice how badly they were doing, too busy talking about what CE packs they were going to buy to get to 5*. (No offense to other P2Pers)
2)The game was not created to care.
3"I want prices to low down because I hear alot of knights complaining about prices. I want it just right, not too expensive....."
That's just you.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. The fun of a game is in the GETTING THERE. Sure, OOO could just give all the players insta-T3 access and their pick of whatever 5* gear they wanted upon sign-up; what good would it do? What good would it do ANYONE? You've finished the game then, there's no need to even play on!
By lowering the ce price, you're making the game EASIER. You make a game EASIER, people finish SOONER. Repercussions?
1) Flood of incompetent noob players joining T3 parties with next to no idea what they are doing and giving the whole community a lot of grief. They'll whine about how everything is too hard, then start demanding nerfs to the game, because they didn't have to hang back in the previous tiers long enough to realize what to do to make it LESS of a pain.
2) The game was created to make money. Period. By letting people finish SOONER and more EASILY, that's players LEAVING the game (for lack of anything new to do) and NOT paying OOO moolah in trying to get there.
I'll also re-iterate: THE MARKET IS PLAYER-CONTROLLED. OOO has nothing to do with it, UNTIL they CHOOSE to get involved, which is likely hardly ever. Even if they did, we wouldn't know. May as well blame the invisible ghost that likes in the desk next to yours for the pens you keep losing.
I agree with benightz ce should be lower not higher it's unfair for other players to use a lot of money
It's funny because people were making these threads when the CE price was approaching 4000 per 100 CE...
Market
The "Market" tab
The Market tab allows you to post your own offers for how many crowns you want to pay for 100 energy (left), or how many crowns you want for your energy (right). After entering how much you'd like to pay, or get, for 100 energy, you can adjust how many times you'd like to make the same transaction (the same tax applies). Offers that are not filled immediately appear on the screen under 'My Offers.' If an offer is not filled in 10 days, it is automatically canceled.
Once you post an offer, the crowns or energy are removed from your inventory to be held until someone else accepts your offer or you cancel your offer. You can cancel unaccepted offers by clicking on the red X next to the specific offer in your posted offers list. Canceling an unaccepted offer will instantly refund your crowns or energy that were being held for that offer.
The Market is highly susceptible to supply and demand. When enough players want more crowns and have enough energy, the cost of energy will drop, and players will get less crowns for their energy. If enough players are running low on energy, the costs of energy will rise. In other words, players can take advantage of this market to acquire more energy and crowns without actually playing, or lose it all.
Three Rings does not in any way directly influence the prices at the market.
