Thin, did you just totally commandeer this RP and make yourself the most important character?
Yes, you did.
WHAT THE HELL, DUDE?
The Winter Kingdom RP Discussion Thread (App here!)
You're the GM; you're responsible for this RP. Explain how this is my fault.
For what it's worth, I'd been planning this reveal from the get-go.
This is about ending the everlasting winter and restoring Spiral HQ.
WHAT IS UP WITH THIS? VERNE IS NOW UNIMPORTANT, AND THE
SWARM IS THE MAIN PART OF THIS RP!!!!!!!!!!
Well, what now? Do we start living side by side with the swarm, saboteur is probably going to reject that idea, Mezizas now once again return to cradle thanks to Gwen's action. Her epic mind struggle with saboteur will continue.
Actually, it still IS about King Verne. See, the Core Spirit, desiring to free her planet from the King's tyranny, decided the best way was to infiltrate his army and destroy the kingdom from within. However, she lacked the physical power to do anything substantial, which the Swarm offered. So, under the pretense of serving King Verne, she set about seeking a way to set up the Swarm within the palace & kingdom without alarming anyone with its potential for corruption. If it was inserted just right, it could have a presence in the body without being able to spread.
Syber was her guinea pig.
Once the King was in a vulnerable position, the plan was to have Syber/U0 command the Swarm to attack. But that part of the plan backfired when she failed to realize how betrayed Syber felt about her, so she had to perform that step on her own.
Which is where we are now.
So you're saying U1 IS the Core Spirit?
You're making your character essentially God?
That would be true if the Core Spirit were a god or godlike, which it isn't. It is nothing more (or less) than a highly-energized psychic human. The planet fed off her energy while she was imprisoned within the Core.
U1 no longer possesses this energy, as she left it within the Core to keep the planet alive, but she can still use her psychic link with the planet to manipulate the energy to a limited extent.
For the purposes of this game, the only psychic power she possesses is Telepathy, allowing her to communicate with the Swarm, the planet, and other telepathic beings. She is no stronger than any other PC.
Why did you have Ralan suddenly succumb to the Swarm?
Okay, I admit, that was an awesome ending for your character. :-)

Gwen teleported into a remote corner of the castle dungeon, which you may recall was once where U0 was kept. I'd formerly described the place as being pretty disgusting. Gwen summoned the newly-infested Ralan and Joley down here. So if Joley managed to interact with Beck, that means Beck is nowhere near the outside of the castle, or that Joley couldn't have interacted with him in the first place.
Ohhh, I thought they were in the same-ish spot. Oh well!
Can I switch to Syber now? I think he would have a better reason to come back for revenge. I will make an app, all I need is an ok.
Name: Syber Krell
Gender: Male
Armor: Snarbolax Coat, Shadowsun Stetson
Offensive and Defensive Equipment(Weapons and Shield) Obsidian Carbine, Gran Faust, Barbarous Thorn Shield
Bio/Personality: Syber was Beck's friend up until he "joined" the king's Void project. Before the project he worked along side his friend as a mercenary. He values hitting hard and quick, although he takes it as one weapon to hit hard and one to hit quick. He can be a little rash, but he knows what he has to do.
Position in Epsilon Squad(Guardian, Gunner, Striker, Bomber, Recon): Mercenary
Stats(I am granting 35 points to spend in any categories you like. 10 points max each category!)
Gunning: 7
Swordplay: 10
Bombing:
Strength: 5
Intelligence: 3
Dexterity/Speed:5
While you are well-within your rights as GM to auto-hit another player at will, it doesn't usually go over well with the player in question. Unless you really can't trust that player to act fairly, it's often best to let the player decide whether they will be hit by any of your attacks.
To be fair, new RPers often have difficulty bringing themselves to let their characters suffer harm, in which case GM auto-action may be warranted.
I'm not saying your judgment was wrong. I'm just offering a friendly warning. :)
For all the new roleplayers in our game...
First off, thanks for playing with us! You guys are very creative with your stories, and I often enjoy playing with you, errors and all. Counter-intuitively, violations of RP rules are often just as much fun for me as rule-abiding story posts.
Allow me to offer a few tips. Characters who never get hurt or take any damage aren't very cool or compelling. The characters we love the most are the ones who can be hurt like anyone else. Take Joley vs. Unit One for example. Joley doesn't get hurt much, and even when she takes a hit, she isn't hurt. Cue "Most Interesting Man in the World" meme:
I don't always get hurt, but when I do,
I don't
Even in the interrogation room, she's a badass. Tentacles inside her head? Piece of cake. Outnumbered by heavily armed super soldiers nearby? Pfft. Nothing ever hurts her.
Compare that to Unit One. She's basically a femme-fatale, a scheming villainess with an impossible master plan. But what happens when Joley hits her over the head with a chair? Does she just laugh it off? Nope, she stumbles back and holds her head in pain. Sure, she can be cool sometimes, like when she's hunting down Beck, but she isn't always that way. When Unit One takes a hit, it's actually a win-win for both characters; Joley gets a chance to look cool, and Unit One becomes more relatable.
So go on, take a few hits! It won't kill you. And what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
I will be hosting a part 2 of this RP in a different thread. In other words, new apps, new everything. Especially a surprise I'm waiting to burst as soon as Verne has died.
This RP will be finished soon, also. Part 1 will have roughly 6-7 pages.
Vana will get tired of people grinding him and will find out Verne is dead. He uses this oppertunity to sieze the throne and curse the knights with endless summer promos
Called it
I think I will write a finishing chapter for Beck and then wait for the next part.
Okay. A couple factors went into my decision to have U1 ignore the question. Firstly, I couldn't think of a way to have her answer it without interrupting the flow of the story. She was at a point where players should have been telling her not to succumb to the Swarm, instead of asking her lots of questions.
Secondly, I didn't think she would have been sufficiently coherent to answer his question. The sensory overload resulting from Swarm corruption (mostly pain) is not conducive to rational thought.
