You are the luckiest knight on Cradle! You are one of about half a million souls who survived the crash (out of a million), and when the Core opens in an hour, you will leave this hell-on-earth for good and return to your beloved home back on Isora. Oh what a happy day this will be! How will you celebrate your final hour?
Be sure not to spend it drunk, because I can assure you, things won't be going so well at depth 29...

If you wish to join this forum roleplaying game, all you need to do is start writing. No character sheets are necessary. All I ask is that you provide a reasonably detailed description of your character somehow at some point in the story. There is only one rule: no power-playing. In other words, do not play as someone else's character. Play as your own. God-modding and being overpowered are discouraged, but aren't outlawed at this present time.
Each player will be responsible for their own story. I've noticed that many players would rather be lazy and wait for me to describe the world they're in; IT'S A TRAP! Don't do it! You'll just bog the story down while you wait for someone who might not even get on that day because his life decided to throw some more school at him. Feel free to create the world as you go. And unless it's really outrageous, other players will be expected to accept your settings as canon.
The story's natural laws are assumed to be the same as in real life plus Spiral Knights canon unless otherwise noted by a game host (myself). If you want to do or use anything that falls outside these assumptions, please run it by me first. Speaking of notes, I would like to add a few to the story's lore:
- The being inside the Core is a sapient, high-energy spirit with a physical anchor to the world. It is responsible for powering the Clockworks and supporting life in general on Cradle.
- The Swarm is a mysterious entity with undetermined physical properties. It appears sentient, if not sapient. When player characters become corrupted, do not attempt to make any assumptions about its nature or influence, since I will be handling that as the situation arises. No further information will be provided at this time.
- Swords are powered by mist energy, and gain much of their strength from it. Guns have limited ammunition, and directed-energy weapons are powered by mist energy. Bombs are limited in supply, and the strength of their explosions is determined by the concentration of mist energy. Shields use mist energy to power their force field bubbles. Armor uses mist energy to function, and knights cannot even move in it if the armor is unpowered.
- Finally, and perhaps most importantly, THIS IS NEITHER A SEQUEL A NOR PREQUEL. TO ANYTHING. Do not expect anything in this RP to have any connection whatsoever to any other RPs. If it seems to, it's entirely coincidental.
And with that, join up and enjoy the story!
"IN ONE HOUR, WE'RE ALL GOING HOME!!"
came the joyous announcement over Haven's loudspeakers. Riotous shouts of glee erupted from knights all over town, followed by much dancing and drinking in the streets. All the Spiral leadership came out to cheer with their underlings, and even the nearby gremlins couldn't help but be swept away by the happiness and partying. Not everyone was happy, though. Vaelyn and her team down on depth 29 were a little apprehensive about what they would find inside the Core. "Any change in the energy readings?" she asked one of her officers. "No ma'am. Energy readings stable." Vaelyn tried to breathe a sigh of relief, but it faltered before it got very far. This is going to be the longest one hour of my life, she mused to herself.
