Fight? Energized?

"We modified our armor to run on crystal energy. There isn't much of the stuff to go around, but we make it go a long way," Ursula replied to River. "We have to be very judicious in how we use it. The modifications are fairly simple; shall I have my men show you how to do it?"

the best offense is a good defense

Kale looked around in surprise, and rested his axe on his shoulder upon seeing the command. He moved to retrieve his shield when he noticed they still had armor on. He opened his mouth but the newcomer beat him to it. Instead, he picked up the shoulder plate to his armor and held it up.

"I guess we won't be getting any then?"

He began to try and link some of the main pieces of his gear together to act as makeshift armor.

"Yeah, sure that will be nice. Even though i don't have any CE around" He smiles

"So you guys are going for the passage then ?" River asks the comander

"Anyway , by any chance. Does you guys know if the swarm has any freezing temperature ?" River who has no swarm experience, question Ursula again before she could answer

OOC: You tell me too, I'll be here every hour to check.
@Darkwatch I'm sorry, I wont be answering your question, seeing Kale just destroyed the Wolvers. Or something.

IC:An E-Class Sprite suddenly floated in front of them, and transmitted Vaelyn's message.
"That would mean..... the shadow lairs...." He glanced back at his team. "Team, proceed into the Shadow Lairs, and you might be able to meet up with the rest of the Spiral Order." Grabbing some crystals which held energy, and a Callahan, which uses bullets. "I need to find Vaelyn."

Not wasting time waiting for a response, Barrus ran into the elevator, jamming the crystal energy into the slot, and pressing 29.

P.S Happy New year! Not yet, but in..... 6 more hours. For me. :D

Having no choice but to take the bomb Blesse reluntently strapped to her chest, not really her thing considering the fact she was a Striker. Still with no voice to argue about not being able to take it she did. Meanwhile Xeon was paying attention to the group that had just come around. He was still working but with out a energy source he wasn't really able to use his skills, let alone fly, with out a constant food source. To this Blesse was at once turned to the idea of getting her helm, the only part of her suit that needed energy, and her fully evolved Sprite fixed to run on the stuff.

"I could use it." Xeon managed to muster after a second, still holding onto his Owner for dear life. He was still chewing on something, the only thing Blesse really had which had a lot of energy for the little guy, a Power Star.

River notcies the sound blesse make when she pick up the bomb

"Remember, it does not have a fuse. So once lit by fire it detonates instanly !" River seems over-excited about the bomb

Then he notices the captain running to the elevator

"Wait up !" He runs, leaving the group

He leaps over the gate into the elevator.

Interesting.

((The elevator does not lead directly to depth 29. It works more or less like it does in-game: if you're at Depth 19, the elevator takes you to Depth 20. I'll do a timeskip to when Barrus reaches Depth 22, where another event occurs.))

With Barrus rushing through each level at a breakneck pace, getting to Depth 22 was a breeze. The elevator came to a halt in a standard-issue Clockwork Tunnel. Filled with the usual array of constructs and gremlins, nothing seemed out of the ordinary about the place until, after a few minutes into the level, Barrus could hear the distinct sounds of mixed gunfire and sword clashes. There seemed to be...

...one automatic weapon...
...a couple slug throwers...
...at least one pistol...
...several blasters...
...a troika weapon...
...and a rapid-attack sword.

Hex, who was now lying on the floor of the elevator, quickly rolled off it before 150 pounds of loose armor landed where his body once was. He whimpered when he thought about the scratches and dents he was now going to have to buffer out.

Picking himself up off the floor for a third time today, he collected the unequipped armor, and joined Varien next to the Arsenal Station.

"Oh, I forgot to ask, Eve, but can you still speak?" he asked as he dropped it all into the chest, along with his Deconstructer. He had looted the bomb from a Gremlin Demo some months back and it was pretty much the only thing he owned that he didn't know how to disassemble and reassemble from scratch: the only thing that ran on Mist Energy. That probably wasn't saying much though, even Isoran Bomb technology was a high-end science due to its complexity and the non-existant margin for error.

He followed Varien's lead of equipping the light, unpowered Proto Armor: it wasn't much, but fringe difference saves lives. His standard Draped though was still busted up from the incident earlier that day so he had to settle with his Frosty-themed Draped and Crescent set.

OOC: Not an event-revealed description since my helmet is always open-faced, but when Edolas explained Varien's under-armor appearance, it reminded me to describe my own. Also I guess it's a good time since now my helmet is being swapped.

Hex, despite not being much older than a few decades, had a rather unsightly face, wrinkled beyond his years. Skin-decay from radiation exposure was evident; an eternal reminder of the type of machines he'd stuck his face near as part of his line of work. It wasn't deadly of course; the biological enhancements Knights undertook upon military recruitment made sure that nothing short of the radiation emitted point blank from a 16 mole fusion reactor could give Knights health issues. His hair, bleached of any color, was short, thick, jutted out backwards, and had begun to recede to reveal a large widow's peak.

New Year? Where are you? Also, Barrus finds Vaelyn. T'was quick.

((It's 9:15 am, 12/31/2014 right now where I live. Topo must live halfway across the world. e_e))

Luckily, the bullet stream is aimed perpendicular to him. On his right, a large, makeshift barricade was manned by a truly breathtaking number of knights. At a glance, Barrus counted around fifty. On his left was an "instant fortress" manned by an army of devilites. Gorgos constantly streamed out of the fortress at the barricade, and were mowed down by gunfire.

The insignia on the soldiers' armors were from many different units. Some were Feron's men, some were Barrus' men, and some were Vaelyn's men. A few were Recon Rangers. It was possibly the largest gathering of knights inside the Clockworks.

Barrus glanced at the scene, and made a snap decision. He grabbed the chunk of energy, wrapped two bullets and the crystals using duct tape, and sprinkled some gunpowder. He threw it over the fortress' walls, and the projectiles from the devillites end ceased. He took the opportunity to run across to the knight side, raising his hand in greeting, "What's the status here, soldier? Have you located Vaelyn yet?"

"What businees do you have here sir ?" The devilites looks curious

"Aren't you suppose to go nuts and try to kill me ?" River is much more curious

"If you don't have the symbol, yes, I will go nuts and try to kill you. However your 'Runes' reveals that you have the authority of pit bosses. So what bussiness do you have here sir ?" The devilites asks in a more demanding tone

"Umm... i am told to retreive some goods..." He smirks, behind his lie

"Ok, go along the road and turn right to go to the storage. But don't touch our grand fausts ! No touching artifacts either !" It raises his voice

The person walks over to the elevator, and checks to see if the platform is still there. If not, she checks for screech marks going up or down; there should be some slight heat to one direction or the other, and the IR vision could help with that.

Clearly following Barrus was a bad idea. He is too invested in the attacking aspect of fighting rather then the whole 'think it through' aspect. I suppose the smart thing to do would be to contact Desna and get her advice before I start burning a scar into the side of the clockworks.

After getting Xeon back to his normal state, taking a handful of the Crystals for that, Blesse re-engaged her helm's Electronic's and at once left a message for the Recon Unit leader to understand. The gist being, Barrus is being bull-headed and that she was indeed of orders. From what Blesse remembered about the Recon leader, she was indeed tough, but at least when it came down to it she was allot more reliable then Barrus. After all, the leader of Warden's division was not really cut out for forward aggression, at least in Blesse's mind.

Besides, she might remember me. After all I did help her, and burn her, many times on missions.

Meanwhile Xeon's power came back in full, but in order to make sure he didn't just burn all the new energy he turned off the flight mechanisom and any of his non-Bio parts. After all he could survive on just the Bio-organic part of his body just fine. Even if it just limited him to the First and Second skills he knew.

"Thank you, ms. Blesse. And we thank you fellow Knights."

Might as well start revealing.

The person steps onto the elevator, and punches down. The person almost collapses onto the floor from what looks to be sheer exhaustion, and the light from the Grey Feather Cowl begin to flicker.

And then the hood is pulled back.

A young woman, who had her ebony-colored hair tied up into a loose-hanging bun was panting hard as she leaned her head back against the railing. Her eyes, eerily glowing just as cerulean as though she had worn the hood, were dilating and shrinking wildly, as though they were trying to find the right adjustment for her to see.

Despite her removal of the armor, this person's voice...was still disembodied and distorted. It was though she had not two vocal chords (the normal being one one vocal fold and one vestibular fold), but rather...a pair of each, one masculine, one feminine. The more masculine was inhumanely low, as though a beast had its say with the more feminine one, which sounded quite normal in terms of pitch and tone.

Black veins pulsed upwards towards her face, but as time passed, they faded back to a grey, and regain their red hue. For a few moments, flecks of magenta sparkled in the young woman's eyes, though they disappeared with a blink.

And as the elevator zoomed down, she whispered to herself :

"...sorry for disappointing you, Dad. Looks like you were right...

...we shouldn't have opened up the Core."

And for the rest of the time, she ceased to breathe, as though she were dead.

~~~
When the elevator descended down to the next floor, the woman stood ready, her hood over her face. And she began to see into the darkness for what little light could the next level's denizens reveal. Puffs of mist and arcs of electricity ran in between the red thorns that jutted out from her shoulders.
Hi, Vaelyn.
"Why don't you ask her yourself?" The knight gestured to the struggling new engineer, who had noticed Barrus and began crawling over (to stay behind the barricade and avoid getting shot). Upon reaching Barrus, the engineer lifted up her welding mask, revealing Vaelyn's distinctive (and beautiful) face.
She fought the urge to hug him, instead giving him a weary smile. "Barrus, is that really you?" she croaked, too exhausted to speak with any refinement. She offered him a lazy salute and extended her hand to shake.
Still waiting on orders Blesse decided to do a little investigating of her own. Going to the lift the firebug went down to the next level, all the while waiting for contact from the Recon Ranger's leader, assuming she isn't swamped with orders from Ozlo.
Well, if I am to assume something, it's that this power outage happened at a rather interesting time. At least for us, I can't say about any other squads. Outside of that I think it's safe to assume that Vaelyn is out'a order or at least just down for the count. What's the connection here, I know there is one. If only I had the chance to get my hands on that Gremlin King, he would know whats going on, after all he is the one who designed this whole planet if the text's are to believed, still it's a long shot and an attack on the Gremlin Colonist's home city would be just a death march with out heavy weapons, which are currently inactive.
While pondering her situation Blesse came to see the two side's fighting. Not wanting to take a stray bullet or worse, the Firebug quickly made her way to the side of the Knights. It was there she saw the mixed groups from all the different Units. It was kinda funny to see all these people, who where normally trying to out do eachother, finally working together. It didn't take long for the Firebug to locate Barrus, the bull headed dud.
"Excuse me sir." Xeon spoke, purched on Blesse's right shoulder holding on for dear life. "We have returned, but with a few more rounds for the back up revolver and if it's not too much to ask, do they have spare ammunition for the Flame Unit. I know it's not really something to come by often, considering most people don't really like this weapon for the mental impact it leaves, but still."
"That and your being bull head." Blesse forced Xeon to say right out.
Fake Vaelyn?
Vaelyn's eyes widened and began to water. "B-Barrus! What are you doing? P-p-put that away!" She backed away from the gun, unaware that she had backed into the line of fire. A shadow bolt plowed into her shoulder, and she hit the ground. Now both saddened and angry, she ripped off her welding mask and hurled it at Barrus. "Get away from me! I can't believe I ever liked you. If you're gonna shoot me, then SHOOT me! Do it NOW! I don't have time for these antics!"
((Barrus never made an effort to see whether it was possible. He didn't ask what she was doing up here. It actually is the real Vaelyn, and you've broken her heart.))
OOC: I love making my characters die. Huehuehue. But Thin.... you will save him, right?! This isn't the Maze RP, he doesn't need to die!!!!!
IC: Barrus' instincts took over. He spirinted towards Vaelyn, firing a few bullets towards the deviliites and grabbed Vaelyn. He instantly felt her kicking and punching, and he thought he could hear a sob, but he ignored her.
He ran towards the nearest sandbag, and dived and threw, letting Vaelyn land safely inside the cover of the sandbag. Barrus, however, was not inside the cover.
A hail of staplers and bullets came towards Barrus, and he held his shield up, not remembering he had no Mist Energy. The bullets slammed into his shield leaving dents, and holes. As Barrus started edging towards where Vaelyn was laying, a sniper shot a round which made a hole cleanly in his shield, and one of his lungs.
"Oh well." Barrus whispered, and fell on his back, a pool of blood forming underneath him. "Good. Let that be payment for what I did with Vaelyn." Barrus thought, before he blacked out.
((@Topogaming: By getting wounded, he's complicating Vaelyn's life even further. Really, you have no idea. I'll do what I can to save Barrus, but I can't promise that he'll be in the best of health afterwards. Besides, he didn't have to take a hit for her in order to earn her forgiveness - an apology and an explanation from him would have sufficed.))
((for Colray))
Cecilia glanced back at the burnt bodies one more time. "Yes. Let's follow them," she murmured to Kale, and stepped onto the lift with him and Blesse. They passed through the next two levels in silence and without incident. When they reached Depth 22, they heard loud chains of gunfire in the distance. They reached the source of the noise to find Blesse accosting Barrus, right before he pulled Vaelyn out of the line of fire and took a hit himself.
Cecilia dove behind a wall and peered out at the conflict. Armored devilites were hurling shadow bolts at the barricaded knights. The knights, in turn, were taking potshots at the devilites whenever the enemy fire let up. A few knights were manning the two laser turrets flanking the barricade, and a team of engineers were constructing (or trying to construct) a third turret in the middle.
She turned to Kale. "You go on ahead. I'll get behind them."
((for Topogaming))
Vaelyn uttered an ugly curse under her breath and tugged Barrus further back behind the barricade. Without hesitation, she opened up his frontal armor and clothing and examined the wound. Thankfully, it wasn't a projectile, which meant there was nothing to fish out of him. She fished out her medical canister and sprayed the last of her biofoam into the wound, then plugged it with a ripped-off section of cloth.
Vaelyn then stood up and unholstered her blaster. "All right boys!" she barked at the top of her lungs, "I want four squads on each flank and four squads in the center! Make a wall and follow my lead!" She whipped out her shield, leaped over the barricade and knelt down in the center. Four squads of knights rushed over to her side, and all 49 knights began their push toward the devilite encampment.
"Ready...DASH!"
With a loud cry, they bolted forward as fast as they could with their shields held out in front. While Vaelyn's group clashed with the brunt of devilite shadow fire, the other two flanks had the good sense to make their move on the devilite flanks. Shadow bolts piffed and pinged off their shields as they advanced, hardly making a dent in the unbreakable wall of metal that rapidly drew closer. The knights' voices grew to a mighty roar when they reached the enemy lines.
"BASH THEM!!"
Forty-nine shields crashed into the devilite ranks. The air rang with the songs of unsheathing swords moments before it changed to the tune of dying fiends. The underworlders drew their own blades in response, and soon one could hear naught but the clashing of steel against steel.
Walking rather causally through the carnage of the battle, the firebug kinda relished this sight. After all she was more of a impact knight, some one to cause mental fear in the minds and hearts of the ones she fought. As it stood the firebug was in the open with enemies that could use projectiles. The smart move would be to keep her Thrower charged and in the other hand have her Revolver at the ready, the only down side was she was limited on ammo for the gun and her pet had shut down most the functions she had come to use to make her fire more threatening.
Alright, I am going to jump out take a few shots, then light the first couple of Devilites on fire, this should help clear out the ranks.
Xeon nodded as he opened his maw, just as Blesse jumped into the battle Xeon used his second skill to make a Barrior of Fire around her, it was a rather devastating sight as the flames grew around Firebug. As she came to land on her feet she took aim, landing some shots with the revolver trying to make each one count. Once she counted to six she quickly holstered the gun and lit the Pilot light.
From the small firefly on the end of the barrel of the Thrower, a small blue flame, came the sound of a ships ignition. The heavy sound, undeniable sound of the devils device being used. Once the flames touched something, it would stop burning till the fuel for the flames was gone. It was as if the fire Blesse was making was hungry in its self, a ever wanting and consuming beast that had no limit to how much it could devour.
"Ma'am. The shield will last another minute or so, if I where you try and take advantage of the situation and cause as much pain as you can." Xeon retorted.
To which Blesse had already decided to do.
Kale nodded at Cecilia and jogged forward. Before he could join the fray the shield line collided with the devillites. Kale gripped his Axe and charged into the fray, cleaving an enemy sword in two. He ducked a pitchfork and looked around for an enemy. With the scream of steel on steel, it was almost impossible to focus, which lead the young guardian to get surprised from behind.
Kale stumbled as something slammed into his back, not piercing his shield but enough to topple him. He landed on the ground roughly and rolled just in time as a pitchfork aimed for his head quivered in the ground next to him. Above him the devilite summoned another weapon- a jagged edged sword- and brought it down. The blade rang against Kale's Axe handle, which he held up like a quarterstaff. Kale tried to regain his footing, but his heavy shield held him from getting up. Fear in his eyes, he looked around quickly, hoping to see any form of help.
Dramatizing things for Darkwatck. Enjoy!
The dust clouds parted and gave way for the dangerous woman who stepped into the battlefield. Blesse's keen eyes pierced through the chaos and chose a few unlucky victims for the little bundle of joy on her back.
Her pistol clicked into her hand and snapped off a volley of gunfire into a nearby pack of devilites. Each round met its mark, and each enemy fell one by one at her feet. She planted her boot on one of the fallen and opened the little bundle of joy, otherwise known as napalm. This should help clear out the ranks.
They would have been wise to flee. And when she planted her boot on one of the fallen to steady the flamethrower nozzle, the enemy did turn around to flee. But their flight came a moment too late; the snap of the ignition spark sealed their fate. The sky seemed to light up in flame for the unfortunate underworlders, and behind it stood Blesse, the last living thing they would ever see.
Blesse turned and left behind their crackling, bursting bodies to find her next victim. "Ma'am, the shield will last another minute or so. If I were you, I'd try to take advantage of the situation and cause as much pain as you can," said her hovering companion Xeon.
If he could see her face, he would have seen her smiling.
OOC: I'm overthinking and overdoing everything.
IC: Barrus struggled to get up, causing more blood to stain his clothes. Grabbing his Callahan, he fired twice, none of them sucessfully hitting.
This ruse is unsettling.
She strides over to the skeleton, and tries to figure out what sort of race it was. Gremlins and beasts were fairly easy to identify, but heaven forbid if this one belonged to an undead or a Fiend; for all she knew, some did have tails...and others didn't. Some had sharpened teeth, others filed theirs down for luxury.
In addition, she also looks for cold bits, indications of metal (as they lose heat quite quickly) or some other solid material among the refuse. If the skeleton proved too troublesome, surely, the objects left behind would at least provide something.
For the "observer"
((You are here, though in the aftermath of this.))
The skeleton was clearly human, though by now it was black and totally devoid of anything one could use as a DNA sample. Its armor, though charred, was a variant of Cobalt, and some of it was still attached to parts of the skeleton. Its electronics were fried, as well as any defining features. The armor had small holes and scratches in places, but it might have been hard to tell whether that was combat damage or fire damage. Whoever burnt the place did a good job of it.
That in itself should probably tell you who did the burning, at least, if not the original culprit.
Further away, there was a makeshift axe and four dead wolvers lying on the ground, along with some intact (but non-functional) armor suits. One of them was registered to "Cecilia," and another one to "Barrus."
Insensible.
Perhaps it was to avoid wolvers from eating the carrion, perhaps it was to eliminate evidence.
Whatever the case, the body was not meant to be identified in any way, except for the fact it belonged to the Spiral Order. An extremely strange thing to do, considering that "Ellie" was executed without the same incineration. In addition, the standard protocol was to place a beacon on the corpse for identification and recycling purposes. This way, the equipment could be handed down to non-spec-op personnel.
It could only be assumed then that this was the work of another perpetrator. The trail had shifted directions.
Luckily, Barrus, a fairly prominent Knight, was involved. For the young lady, people in high places weren't hard to reach by telecommunications. However, the knockout of energy would send even her into doubt. There were more pressing matters, such as the Core being let loose. Undoubtedly, many would die...many should die.
And while Barrus probably could have the answer, the young lady also had to consider things were a-happening in Haven, bad things. For all she knew, Haven would be rubble by now...
The young lady shook her head. She had to stick to what she knew, facts. Involved persons, evidence, etc. After all, she couldn't be able to remedy the predicament if she used the wrong treatment. What if this was not the Finder in play, but another entity of strengths and purposes entirely different?
So, after lugging up "Cecilia"'s breast plate and the makeshift axe, she began to inspect any trails of heat, however faint. She knew she was close on their tails...whoever "they" were.
And if she was lucky, she might get to meet the rest of Ellie's comrades, perhaps in the lower depths.
Sorry, went to vacation the other day
((@Thin : The runes that herex made were based off the devilites, thus, the devilite worker here mistakes it for the pit bosses runes ))
River walks across the yard.
A loud voice resonates outside.
"No you idiot ! We don't have any guess for today ! That rune must be a fake ! You will work overtime for ten years from now ! Go and find the knight dumb*redacted* !" A pit boss can be heard yelling
"Crap, i guess they found out alerdy. Man, security is tight !" River runs off deeper
Then he stumbles upon something curious.
"What is this ?" He picks up a really dusty object
He brushes the thing, revealing a blade of iron.
The sword is missing its hilt though, and seems to belong far back at the ancient time
"Must be from their planet... Sweet, this doesn't require energy ! Quite heavy... the blade is also dull.. Might need some refining later" He admires it
"There he is !" A pack of overtimer can be seen at the other end of the room
"Alerdy ?!" River runs to the exit as he put the blade on his back
"He's running away ! Catch him !" One of the devilites throws its fork
The fork flew and barely missing the blind's face
"Crap ! Gotta hurry !" He rushs to the next room
He kicks the door, only to find himself on a meeting room
A lot of pitbosses stares awkwardly back
"Heello ??......" River scratches his head
A pitchfork flies past him, and hitting a wall.
River picks up a nearby table and breaks it in half as sheild.
"Gotta go !" He runs to the next room
(( I was on vacation yesterday, and missed a change to post.. ))
((( Trying to keep it family freindly )))
Well, barrus is going CRAZY!
Barrus struggled to get up, and when suceeding, more blood came rushing out, making his shirt crimson red. He limped across the battlefield, shooting at Devillites, missing more than hitting. It was a while before he reached the line of Spiral Knights, advancing slowly towards the enemy. He could recognize Vaelyn immideatly. He reached out and grabbed her shoulder, more for support than to notify her he was here. He coughed blood, and said in an hoarse voice, "Vaelyn.... where's.....*cough* Feron?" Without asking for an answer, he collasped from blood lose, pulling Vaelyn with him to the ground.
River raises his makeshift sheild.
An overbrander throws another fork at the knight, stabing the sheild
"Let see if i can use this ...." River plucks the fork from the table.
He keeps on running and finds himself at the elevator.
"Crap ! I don't have CE !" He screams
The overbranders are closing in on the solo knight...
(( Hey thin, i make a mistake. in the previous post i said river has no CE. And now i am stuck.... heeeelllp T_T ))
Looking around the brightly lit land, watching her enemies burn away to the ash they where spawned from, the firebug gave soft smile deep under her helm. It was a peaceful thing to just watch the bodies be swept away with the wind and updrafts of the flames. However Blesse knew that Xeon's message was true, and she had already expended at least 10% of her Flame Units which where remaining.
Keeping the Pilot light lit Blesse pulled out her weapon and dropped the empty bullet casings. The soft tink of the expended shells smacking the ground sent a shock through her, a shock of joy. This is what she lived for, this is what she strive for, War. Her breath picking up as the temp of her heart and Adrenalin kicked over gave the Firebug the rush she always wanted, the joy of fighting in a situation where her life maybe forfeit for one mistake.
Ah I missed this so much, so long have I waited to just go all out and now I can!
Looking down at her, Xeon felt a shock of fear jump through his core. He had never really been around when his master was fully engaged in a fight, and now here she was, about to sent more of the creatures to a fiery death, and not once would she regreat any of it. In fact she seemed to relish in the thought of hunting down the little devils and cooking them one, by one.
Walking forwards, head held high, the shield of flames and the one making them moved ever deeper into battle. With a Revolver in one hand, and the other, a weapon who's very sound could make even a Warden run in fear.
((Thank you for the different take on Blesse's actions xD I kinda enjoyed it. To be honest, my side is more played down/grounded with a serious over tone. Where yours just came off as fun/scary. It makes me realize just how devastating a flame-unit can be. And how messed up they are in the head >.>))
the best offense is a good defense
Suddenly the armored devilite looked up and fled. Kale rolled to his feet and looked over to see Blesse, literally roasting the opposition and making quite a dent in the opposing force. Kale pulled his eyes away from the sight and took up his Axe, he turned to a few other knights frozen in awe.
"The enemy are disorganized! Now's our chance!"
Kale lead a few knights into battle, moving around the pyro's range. They crashed into the disorganized Devilites from one side. Kale cut down a deevilite and parried a flying pitchfork. As of now, his small group had the advantage of surprise. Hopefully the other knights could back them up, or attack from the other side. He looked at the firebug, hopefully she can keep up those flames. Then a shadow bolt flew over his shoulder and he was fighting again.
More story!
((for F-G))
While the observer had no usable heat trails to work with, Spiral Knights weren't exactly known for their stealth abilities; they left behind a long trail of very nice footprints leading all the way to the next elevator. In fact, their muddy boots left tracks well into the next level too. The knights made a bee-line for Depth 22, taking no turns or detours on their way there.
So a couple elevators later, the observer found herself in a Clockwork Tunnel, whereupon she could hear the distinctive sounds of Spiral gunfire.
((for Spirals-Ore))
River seems to have forgotten that he carries Proto gear. It still works, and will probably work better than that iron sword and table-shield he's carrying. Elevators don't need CE to work, though. The gremlins have the backup power running, so the elevators still function, but it won't last forever.
((for Topogaming))
As Barrus fell to the ground, Vaelyn rapidly slapped his cheek to try and reawaken him. "Barrus, come on Barrus, wake up! Stay with me!" With all her attentions on the unconscious Lieutenant, she didn't realize that the battle was nearly over. The devilites had been routed, and the only task remaining was to deconstruct their fortress.
And to close the portal through which they came.
((for Darkwatck))
With the battle over and all enemies slain, it might feel, in some respects, both satisfying and unfinished at the same time for Blesse. She had managed to burn many innumerable underworlders with her incinerator, but was it sufficient to quench her fiery thirst, or it was it all over a little too quickly? Still, with victory in their grasp, the remaining knights now had a chance at life, which was a reward in its own right.
Well, for those who cared about that sort of thing.
((for Colray))
Kale, on the other hand, likely felt relieved that the battle was over. With the disappearance of mist energy and the subsequent loss of his best equipment, death had become a much closer prospect than he would have liked, and their victory today pushed that prospect further away.
But Vaelyn didn't seem nearly so pleased at the outcome. Her focus was entirely on Barrus, who had fallen unconscious from his wounds. Cecilia wandered up beside Kale and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Think Vaelyn has a crush on Barrus?" she murmured quietly to her comrade.
Kale fiddled with his axe since the battle ended, trying to shorten the haft to be one handed. He didn't notice Cecilia approaching until she spoke.
"Think Vaelyn has a crush on Barrus?"
Kale fumbled his axe and looked up. Once he comprehended the question he looked over to the lieutenants. He thought about it for a minute, with Barrus quickly calling up a squad to get down there and abandoning said squad once he heard she was within grasp.
"I dunno, from the way Barrus was acting I could assume its the other way around."
He looked back down at his axe again. Then at the proto armor Cecilia was wearing. An idea came to mind, and he looked around absentmindedly for an arsenal station. The proto armor functions without mist energy or crystal energy. Maybe he could fashion some sort of reinforced version of his old set.
Regrouping.
As the battle was shifting, an ominous feeling began to exude from the back, behind the front lines. There was someone...from what it looked like, a Knight.
But something felt...off. This person didn't seem too friendly, given that the person's identity was hidden by a hood. In fact, the Spiral Knights' insignia was all but absent, leaving the soldiers to figure out by themselves whether the person was friendly or not.
However, this unease was (barely) lifted with a sort of aloof wave, as though the person was half-asleep. A friendly, but to what extent?
As the person approached Vaelyn and Barrus, she knelt down by his side, and placed a heavy hand on each of the two. Little particles began to dance around the two and glowered, showering the two in a blue mist. It appeared as though they were being healed, though Barrus moreso than Vaelyn; it seemed the bullet might be stuck inside her shoulder. Full recovery would probably trap the projectile inside.
"...I've a question for you, Vaelyn," the person said in a disembodied, polyphonic voice. For all except those who already knew her personally, it was impossible to differ the tone from male or female. "However, as the situation stands, I'll withold until the battle is done.
I do prefer that you do not evade me. The information you may have wil determine whether or not we can survive this ordeal."
The person stands up, and unsheathes a Final Flourish from her sheathe. At a calm pace, she jogged forward, closer to the sounds of fighting. Getting rid of the summoning runes shouldn't be a problem, especially for someone in her line of business.
~~~

Up ahead, she could see a line of seething metal slowly pushing forward. At a time like this, a slow push wasn't the best with energy economy, but the lack of any proper strikers would be an appropriate justification for this tactic. In a situation like this, the safest method would be needed.

However, the person was hard-pressed for time. Everyone was, actually. Eventually the elevators would have to run out; dozens, if not hundreds, would be stranded.

So, the person started off with a soft jog, and then a run, and then a full-on sprint before mashing her foot into the back of a poor shieldbearer, and from above the shield-wall, descended upon the enemy akin to when a Wolver would ambush its prey. A dangerous tactic as it was, she had came with her precautions; the Snarbolax's hide was a good deterrent against the shadowy weapons of the Underworld.

As a surprised Devilite had its mouth stuffed with the blade of a Final Flourish, she raked the barbs of a Barbaric Thorn Shield across its belly, spilling innards in the process. With a deft kick, the worker was launched away into the cement, passed on to the next life as its coworkers charged towards the figure with screen and pitchfork raised.

Not that they were expecting to be flung just as harshly to the floor with a shield bash, nor were they expecting their deaths to be as unglorious as a quick stab to their chests.

She left the gasping, choking Devilites to die as she slid under the swipe of an Overtimer's slash and ran her blade through its skull from under its jaw. A little later, a jittering body was squirting blood all over the floor.

A grotesquely brutal fighter, the person was not one for any flashy moves.

Infinite Grammar error

In a desperate attempt river punches the elevator button and it launch down below

"Oh... i guess i don't need CE" He facepalms his own face

The elevator gate opens up.

He walks across noticing an arsenal station

"That girl is using proto set right..." The blind opens the crate

He picks up his old armor and equips it

"Brings back memories.." He grins as the suit jolts to live

He draws his proto sword and ties it behind the fork he loots

"This will do... At least it has more range" River whispers

He advance towards the elevator as it delve deeper to the depths

Again the elevator opens up revealing depth 22

"I hear cheers.... Is there a battle here ?" He continues forward

He notices something odd, a sound of a person. However, this was more... twisted

The blind quickly goes past the sound, he feels something familiar in the ground.He feels the ash of a fire, still warm and new

He aproaches one of the knight around

"Can you explain whats going on ?" River asks
