The Morai Wars, Year 3030.

You are a Dropship Knight in the Spiral army. Your objective is to capture a strategic Morai town where the Spiral Engineers will set up artillery. After a short and brutal melee, you capture the town, only to find that the Spiral Engineers never show up. So here you are, stuck in this forsaken village amongst a scared and angry population. As you attempt to appease the villagers and make nice so they'll let you in, you find yourself battling against the elements, disease, monstrous beasts, and a host of other foes you've never faced before. Years pass before anyone finds you here. Will you fit in and protect the village, or will you remain an outcast in the land of your enemies?

Box me up, ship me home.

Name: Markus Bastion
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Appearance: Standing as tall as a Trojan, all of Markus' equipment is extremely heavy, (Albeit extremely outdated as well). Behind the thick layer of armor pokes out a shining pair of orange eyes. Forsaking range and technology in favor of brute force and heavy armor, Markus is forced to counter his weakness by trying to blend in to his surroundings. It's very common to find him with local flora tied onto him.
Equipment: Wields a Troika and an Ancient Plate shield. Brandishes Ancient Plate armor (and helmet) outfitted with a leafy mesh.
Personality & Bio: Extremely slow to anger, Markus gives off an aloof aura that makes people think he's dimwitted. Despite this, there are a few that know just how talkative he really is. He may not show it, but Markus becomes quite a chatterbox when he opens up to people. One can only sit in silence for so long, and, being a sentinel, he's had ample opportunities to sit in silence. After shrugging off several mortar shells and countless bullets during his time in the vanguard, he's found that no danger could prove too much for him to handle. Seeking greater glory, and hopefully comradery, Markus has volunteered to join the other knights in drop missions. For a man with nothing to fear, falling into/behind enemy lines felt like a step in the right direction.

I'm a Wizard

I think I remembered you making something else on this topic but nothing happened with it.
Anyways, here we go. I'm sure I'll mess this up with something stupid.

Name: Melvin Sierras
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance: A little taller than most, not that it matters. He has Cyan eyes that give a slight feel of seriousness but maybe loneliness. Don't expect someone like him to smile much. He'll wear shades when on reconnaissance duty.
Equipment: Armed with a Grand Flourish and an Aegis. He may look like he's wearing just a Shadow Brigadine with his Padded Cap, but he's also wearing an Ash Tail coat. He'll also wear a toasty scarf if it's cold, should he get the chance.
Personality and Bio: Melvin used to be a common civilian on Isora. He liked practicing with swords to pass the times as a child and also had a girlfriend when he was older. One day, she disappeared under mysterious circumstances however and after a while the rescue team(s) came up with nothing. Melvin gave up, and decided to sign up with the Spiral Order at around the age of 21. Though it's not known why he actually wanted to be a Knight, but he's focused on his missions. He doesn't like being asked about his past, as said from his new friends, and became a recon knight so he could usually operate solo.
Melvin may be serious and distant, but he's not a rude, edgy person. He'll help comrades in need and knows when to ask for help. He misses his girlfriend, even though he's likely forgotten her face by now. In the right time and place Melvin will forget about his troubles, and laugh and enjoy the better parts of life.
He seems to have suspicions about things that happened in his past, but doesn't share it with others.

Looks good!

I'm liking these characters. Both are accepted. I'll start when we have a full squad of 4. Hopefully.

I've made stories like this one on other sites, and mixing slice of life with combat isn't unknown to me, but the only RP I know with a similar title is Forsaken World. Was that the one you had in mind?

This is really happening, huh?

Name: Urie
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Appearance: I've been wanting to post this somewhere for like a year

Equipment: (Partially cosmetic, as I assume the realistic logic applies to the equipment.) Solid Cobalt Helm, Ash Tail Coat, Iron Buckler, Gigawatt Pulsar, Arc Razor (I like the way the arc razor looks over the winmillion)

Personality & Bio: Urie comes off as cold and straightforward; but is otherwise diligent and kind, if a bit shy.
Having lived a large portion of her life locked up, Urie had become more and more interested in life as animals and plants were a rarity of sorts- ranging into the science of it all, Urie became a doctor/professor. Unfortunately, the cold reality humanity (isority?) set upon her, and she started to block herself off from others, turning into a in/out orders machine. At some point, treating dying patients proved too taxing on the mind, and she decided to go into the business of becoming a Knight of the order. Some time passed, and she decided she was ready to begin. Thus her life as a Dropship Knight began.

C:

Name:
Pehron

Age:
32

Gender:
Male

Appearance:
Blue Almond eyes, short dark hair, average height.

Equipment:
Solid Cobalt Armor and Elemental Helm, Mighty Defender, Master Blaster and Shocking Edge. Wears Prismatic Glasses, Dusky Binoculars and Intel Tube.

Personality:
Reclusive, overly cautious, and above all else, observant. These three attributes mark his outlook in life, and the first two explain why he never got a gilrfriend. He will let others do the motivational and social talk, and will hold back a lot before being the first to take action, for he is never willing to face risks. If you do get him talking, however, be ready to listen.

Bio:
It is said that the first geographers were war strategists. That the first descriptions of land and sea came from men interested in the highest grounds to fight on, and the fastest rivers to transport armaments with. Pehron always took the ground beneath his feet with a professional interest, even as he pondered on which sand dune he'd make his castle when he was just an infant. After looking at the grass's moisture, he eventualy looked up at the skies for answers too. And the space-war novels came to set him ablaze with ideas on how he could beat every enemy garrison to a pulp by just having them stand at the wrong place in the wrong time. How he would destroy enemy fleets with solar-powered lasers and hydreletrics!

Graduated in Geographic Analysis, master at Sustainable Engineering and doctor at Military Assessment Of The Climate, Pehron owned a lot of his formation to the institutions working under the Military's cradle, and only with the dawn of the Morai War he realised he might not have wanted to become affiliated with the Knights. "Oh well, it's too late to run." he said to himself as he passed trough the basic training. His formation put him on the very niche place that is the Geologic Analysis and Research Division of the Isorian Knighthood. As Isora's foothold on the war crumbled, he mustered plan after plan to better exploit the few worlds the Knights could still set foot on.

But one plan from the Intelligence Division appeared. Direct attacks on some worlds the Morai dared not to pay enough attention to, and not just attacks, but the settlement of bastions for Isora, jumping points staight to the heart of the enemy. And as he rambled about the best ways to go about this operation, a finger straight from the Iron Wolves pointed at him, and he was appointed as Geo Knight of a first-strike team for one of the key locations. The nerd of the division would now go alongside sharptheeted vanguards into fire, to study the terrain upfront and pick the best bits of dirt straight from the enemy's feet.

To prevent undue stress, a request.

I still have one more week of school (Finals) so if I post invariably, that's because I'm stressing my face off and most likely being stabbed through by a telephone pole. So, if you guys can wait for me to post over the course of the next week, that'd be nice.
For now, we're fine though, as it's still the weekend.

Questions questions.

Alrighty so Markus has encountered eight Morai troops? Because I wasn't sure who the you you were referring to was.
And he has to skirmish with them until backup arrives? If so, then okay. Since I got a trick up my sleeve if that's true.

Oh and since I didn't equip a secondary weapon(whoops), can I steal a gun from an enemy and use it throughout my adventure until I get a replacement?

Let me guess, Anonmouse is darkwatck

@Blaze

And he has to skirmish with them until backup arrives?

I am pretty sure that is Thinslayer's cue for the four of you to work together to eliminate the eight Morais in whatever ways possible.

for example:

Dark writes Markus charging at the enemies shortly after Markus tells the team to provide fire support, you can either:

- Take out your ranged weapon and spray at the general direction of the Morais to provide support fire.

- Exit from another escape hatch and flank the Morais, this way you avoid friendly fire.

- Stay on the crashed ship, get to the cockpit, reroute some emergency power to the ship turrets and catch the Morai by surprise.

- Again using the crashed ship to your advantage, when the Morai walks near to propeller jet's exhaust , activate it, cook them alive.

- If you are not good at combat, the drop ship should still have some supplies on it, say, use a flare gun as a distraction to throw off the Morai gunners.

Those are just some advice.

I'm gonna assume they confirmedly saw Marcus, but the other squadmates may have the surprise element, if they choose to. Me think it fits.

Marcus was the first one to jump out, his landing made a crater and hes as big as a Trojan. He'd definitely be the first one to get spotted.

Yes on both counts. I had the Morai squad leader kill a Spiral Warden to establish that he is a difficult enemy, so when you write your action sequence, he cannot be killed in one strike.

Agreed

I would really love some flavor text with each post, and a in depth description for the town we are in. I touched on it looking pretty, but kept it vague so as to not tread on your setting Thin. I didn't know THOUSANDS died either. I had thought this to be a rather small operation, which is why i'm digging graves instead of burning them. If you could do a small update on the size, locale, and other defining things that'd be great. Little details like; is there blood on the streets, or was most of the fighting in the fields? Any thing set up from previous soldiers who were stationed here? etc.

Suggestions

First, describe what the houses are made of; "Looking around the rustic wooden village, it's amazing this place didn't catch like a match during the siege." or "Walking through the odd village, you note all the different colored brick houses along the way, with the way the roof shingles sit in a state of disrepair, you can tell there aren't enough hands to fix what needs to be done around here." This way we can get a general gist of what the houses look like without having to describe each one. Also, you can define the shape of the city with a comparison. Does it spiral out from the center well like a ball? is it winding around a large mountain, or what? Moreover, what season is it? I assumed spring, but either way it'll help describe the surrounding area. Which, finally, is the last point. The battlefield; Is it an open field, are there many trees/a nearby forest? Any landmarks that are noteworthy? Is there a whole bunch of wreckage somewhere, or is it just our ship?

That, and I'm not exactly sure how I or Urie would go about checking up on the citizens.
Smash open doors and demand answers?
Knock on people's doors and patiently wait?
Or just altogether ignore them and look for some sort of official paperwork on why these people are STILL HERE.
Though, considering the feel of things, they probably didn't have time to do any paperwork, just immediate orders of
"GO GET THOSE PEOPLE OFF OUR LAWN BEFORE WE ALL DIE"

so, tough call

Well, as a role-player, I think you should do what you predict Urie's persona would do. Is she a patient/docile person? Knock on the doors. Is she aggressive/moody in the circunstance? Slam open the doors. Is she unsociable/afraid/not willing to talk at the moment? Try to find some paperwork.

Also, this is why we also need a better description of the place from Thin's part.

Scared citizens are unlikely to answer questions for people with anger issues unfortunately.
Scared citizens are unlikely to open doors for people with guns unfortunately.
Scared citizens are unlikely to write paperwork as they're more concentrated on wills unfortunately.
Scared citizens are unlikely to answer questions because they're sleeping.
Scared citizens are unlikely to open doors for foreign strangers.
Scared citizens are unlikely to write paperwork because the pens are upstairs.
The possibilities are endless. Though if you want it simple you could try just knocking.

I'd imagine that Intel officer is off the table. If we had access to one, we wouldn't be stranded. (Intel officers are not field agents.) Well, no. I enjoy less Riots and civilians going to arms.

Prisoner of war? Why in the world would we take a prisoner if we were behind enemy lines? That's suicide, one way or another. He knows the lay of the land, he knows the populace and can bend them against you. Which is another problem, we are supposed to try and co-habitate and mesh with these people for an extended period of time. How are we going to do that if we publicly have a prisoner? As a dropship trooper, we havn't the facilities to maintain a prisoner, much less the manpower. If we found another soldier....well I'm already digging a huge grave-ditch, so it'd be a short-lived run.

1. Your being very short sighted here.

2. As a shock, or drop, trooper you do have a way of detaining a P.o.W[s]/group of people, as well the training and understanding of how to do it. It's inhumane to not train soldiers how to take a P.o.W.

3. It has some benifits. A. The civilians would be scared yes but the would also see your not complete monsters other wise you would of killed the soldier out right. B. It might get some civilians talking to aid you as a resault.

Well, I suppose in a normal occupation we would be taking POWs by now, but uhm.... our entire division kind of uh, died? According to Thinslayer, Marcus, Urie, Melvin and Pehron are the only four remaining Isorians in the town.

I dont know much about war-logic, but I think it's only viable to take POW's if we can send them somewhere else, away from the action. We already know backup wont arrive, so that's that. Of course, that wouldnt stop some hidden Morai soldier from trying, but unless it was planned for the story for him to eventualy buddy up with us, we would be in a tight fit.

Update

Looking for a new job, so my time is rather limited.

Anyway. This isn't going to be a strictly slice-of-life story. The villagers are trying to make their living in a very dangerous environment. Destructive storms, ravenous creatures, diseases, and famines will be among the challenges you must overcome. There might even be a dark secret or two. There's plenty for soldiers to do here.

@Darkwatck, what roles are you thinking of playing, if you were to join?
