They wouldn't.
Which is why Urie snuck her own in.

Alright! Pranks and MP3s are set! Your move, Magmaul!
Melvin turns on his radio and shouts into it very loudly. "RESPOND TO MY CALLS, BASTION!"
He then throws the Molotov in his other hand at a building full of innocent people. The End.
Well, that moment when you have been watching and well, getting kinda layed back. Almost like some kinda creeper Recon unit you haven't found yet or you know is there and are just not sure where....
Bad jokes aside, at least the story is 'moving'.
Speaking of which, your future app is accepted. I could use your knack for your meditative storytelling.
If it's not too much of a pain, would ya mind giving me a general idea of what's needed/is allowed character wise so I don't end up making something that doesn't belong.
At this point, I'd be fine with a knight, villager, Morai, or even monster. Whatever works.
Simi-retired morai heavy guardian. Uses a war hammer instead of sword. Best I can think of while at work.
While I will submit an application for a Morai Heavy Guardian, Thin your last post, he it has enspired effects on the character I want to makes mental mind set. Oh this could be fun for me, at least.
Name: Kokkinos Drakos (Hmm more greek fo ya the sir name should be easy) [Called Kon for short.]
Age: 32 [Latter stages for he is simi-retired]
Gender: Male [Kokkinos is more of a Males name anyway]
Appearance: Think the heavy set Spiral Warden only instead of that armor its the Morai equivalent. [So it makes it rather hard to compare the two but for the most part there ya go. It's kinda hard to give an in dept detail but one would image that the gear more represents the values of the Morai Legion and well design to intimidate lesser Knights/Enemies.]
Equipment: [All gear is combination of black, magenta and grey. Seems fitting for Morai gear, this includes armor as well.]
Personality & Bio: Ah, the life of a Morai Solider. For some seen as hero's others nothing more then a legion of monster's who's goal was to destroy and reclaim in their name. For the lower to mid ranking soldier it was a simple matter of being fit and loyal to the cause, for others it was a test of their willingness to join and fight for their belief's and countries, yet for others it was a much more twisted tail. Enter, Kokkinos Drakos, Morai Heavy Guardian.
From the time he was old enough to join, the lad of a ripe age of 18 joined the ranks of the Legion. Spending the larger part of his career as a Ranked officer building himself from battle to battle, shedding blood and glory in the name of his country, amassing scars and trophies some would claim to be more, brutish in nature. Even as the man aged into an adult he kept his since of joy and duty at heart, till he was offered the 'privilege' to join the ranks of what was considered the most noble units the Morai had, the Heavy Guardian's. To him it was the chance of ones life, to be that high and hold the honor of his country and name to the test of war, to stride onto the battle field and see his kinsmen looking at him with returned resolve, something a careered soldier couldn't pass up, but how little did the still young adult know.
It didn't hurt at first, simple visits from the bio-techs, blood tests, getting fitted for armor that didn't seem to quite fit. After three weeks the Young soldier found out the truth however, the genetic augmentation, implants designed to enhance the Soldier's strength as well growth harmons designed to make the Soldier taller so the new muscle mass could fit into the arm, it was hell. Many nights Kokkinos found himself laying in the medical bed hugging himself as the pain threatened to over take and drive him to the breaking point, yet he pressed on knowing that this was but a trial that could make the difference between lives lost, and lives saved.
Two years in that lab, two years fighting off pain the likes of which has driven lesser men insane, he survived. A simple soldier turned titan on the field of battle. With each step the land bellow rumbling with his presence, yet despite this the man inside felt betrayed. After all he went through, after all he had done, perhaps his age finally met his moral compass, a regret or two finally set in and only after four years as a Heavy Guardian the Soldier quit. Displeased with his choices the Morai gave him one last mission, of course he knew what it was, the march to death.
With a nod he took on the quest, and silently the once towering Morai Knight feel into silence, yet what was not told was the crafty Guardian had instead faked his death with the help of the few allies he had left in the Morai's Legion, making his death look real and giving him the ability to escape. His armor no longer having the tracking chips, making it look like he was crushed by a mighty foe. A fitting in to the Guardian Kokkinos.
[Alight, well outside of being a career soldier he exsipts the feelings of those who had been betrayed, more times stepping up to those that would do harm to the place he has called home, still having his armor and donning it when he feels the since of right and honor call for it. Yet he speaks with a soft voice, much like a dad or perhaps grand dad, some one who has been around the block once or twice. In battle he can be a little wreckless, letting his joy and since of duty get the better of him but never losing sight of the end goal.]
Well as far as it stands I am home, feet hurt, guts trying to fight me and I am tired but still awake as of the posting of this, [dur]
Fair warning, you said my future app was accepted. However I believe in a fair practice all around, with that said I will await a fair approval since everyone else had to as well.
Well, I was concerned about how the "you have been abandoned , soldiers" message would be delivered, but now it seems clear that the squad is going to group up at the tower while Pehron sets the comms up and then they all recieve the cold message that their entire supporting force vanished. Is my intuition in this right?
One question tough. In what form would the backup have arrived? I ask this because while Pehron fiddles with the tech, he'll have to make a direct reference to whatever type of vessel they would be reporting to if everything went as planned. Was it a fleet of ships? A big Skylark-esque cruiser? A garrison standing on solid ground somewhere? Or some FTL-thing linking directly to Isora?
I for one welcome our new overlo-- I mean, our new tank-character. Just try not to dissapear too, It aways feels bad when that happens.
Also, the atmosphere is feeling a little bit too casual for me, considering the bloodbath that just happened.
Also, the atmosphere is feeling a little bit too casual for me, considering the bloodbath that just happened.
I keep my thoughts inside.
Nobody's going to get any messages at all. Your squad has literally been forgotten. Plus, you're all out in the middle of nowhere, so your comms won't reach anyone important. Any speech-to-text messages won't be delivered because all comm center equipment has been destroyed. If any backup arrives, it'll return the same way you got here - by dropship.
The atmosphere is definitely strange, though. I mean, thousands of soldiers on both sides were slaughtered in one night. Any soldier worth his salt would be grieving his lost comrades. It seems my attempt to make their deaths feel monstrous didn't resonate. The villagers, though, aren't particularly attached to their Morai guardians, but they don't feel strongly about their deaths one way or the other. Patriotism demands that they feel something, but they have bigger concerns on their minds to dwell on it.
Speech to text messages are unusable? Can I still use basic text or voice messages or is it just that I have a limited communication range?
Comms have about the same range in-story as they do in-game. Cold messages will only be delivered if you get near the senders, assuming they're not deleted if they fail. If there were a central comms unit that messages got sent to, like in a Recon's pack, cold messages might not happen at all. As it stands, though, there are no working comm packs.
Yeah, We didn't really see, hear, or feel anything related to the "Thousands" of fighting people, just a small group of roughly 12 knights against our four. A short trick to include the other many people would be sounds of clashing swords in the distance, battle cries, yells of agony and pain, A knight nearby being gunned down, so many other things that could have been done.
If anything, it should've been like that one piece you wrote about the Skylark blowing up, you did that very well.
So, allow me to set the tone in my next post. Even if Urie didn't know the others personally, she should still care, at least a little.
Wait, so the RP group killed 12 Morai soldiers in the @ss end of nowhere, and no one on Morai legion's side bothered to check in? I mean, big war is big and all, but even then someone on the Morai legion should have noticed that one of their skirmish team didn't report back in, as far as modern military protocols are concerned (something that both SK and Morai should logically abide by), the Morai would at least send some kind of scouts to check out what happened to the lost patrol.
And also, another problem, why aren't the player characters doing a fighting retreat and try to regroup with friendly units? The RP's title should be changed from 'Forgotten' to 'Desertion' to make it more appropriate, because soldiers who are worth their salt know that staying behind enemy line, even in remote region/loosely held territory is suicide and they should try to regroup with the main army ASAP if they want to have any hope of surviving or fighting back. And staying in a small village to wait out the war would surely be considered desertion by any military court.
And if you want to say that going back on foot is too hard, just remember there is someone on the team who knows a lot about geography and landscape. The Chinese liberation army fought through four nationalist blockades and traveled thousands of miles of rural China (as in, nothing but mud and grass) on foot and horses to reach their HQ further up north during the Chinese civil war (the one before the Japanese land invasion), this incredible feat is celebrated till this day. I reckon that would be a nice story line for this RP.
---End of nit picking ---
It could be a cold zero situation. With limited to no intel but it was critical to take that place. The Morai would know well enough once checking s fail, and the spirals are more then likely trying g to get some kinda reinforcements rallied up to send off to aid, until then if would be radio silence till HQ brakes it.
That's what makes the situation so mysterious - neither the Spirals nor Morai seem interested in sending anyone to assess the situation. It's almost as if both sides were embarrassed and agreed not to talk about it.
The characters aren't supposed to retreat. Their orders were to take the town, which involves occupation.
@Darkwatck: Before I forget, app accepted.
Magmaul you do it next answer my call :P
I will do my best when/if Kokkinos is able to speak to the knights, perhaps giving a small amount of insight as best by his time among the towns people.
Midnight, I dont think you understood the story. First of all, this wasnt a patrol we fought, it was a whole regiment. Thousands, not 12. And by "we", I mean the other regiment that would have been beside our fireteam if they hadnt been decimated. That means we have no main army to fall back to, and they dont have anyone nearby to check up on us. There are no enemies left, and as Thin said, we came here to ocuppy the village, we cant fall back.
Also, I'm pretty sure this war is of interplanetary scale at least, otherwise it would be totaly feasible for someone to just walk his way to this habitated, even if remote, village. We were the ones who went groundside, everyone else was either in orbit or on another planetoid, and if the ground force is no more and we cant get any response from the others, then we are stranded, period. Unless we can jury-rig a starship with only four people.
@Thinslayer
Sorry, by "message" I meant they would come to the conclusion that they were stranded. Nobody's going to tell them they've been abandoned, theyre gonna find that by looking at all the static Pehron is about to recieve in his comm gear.
@Magmaul
If it is a regiment that you fought then it is impossible for the army to be decimated overnight unless both the Spiral order and the Morai legion were moronic enough to send their soldiers into open field, head on engagement like in the 16th century. And you have not taken into account of non combatant on both sides: chief, medic, science observer, armorer and heck, journalists. So even if the army on both side were annihilated in mutually assured destruction (without the help of WoMD no less), there should still be surviving back field personal on both sides, who should have survived by right (rules of engagement), if not by luck.
The death of so many should have tipped off even the most senile of commanders, be this a planetary war or a inter-planetary war, if the planet was worth the fight, then some reinforcement would sure have arrived on both side to consolidate any gains their precursors might have achieved. If the planet wasn't worth it, then why didn't the spiral order just bomb the planet/region from orbit in the first place to deny it to the Morai?
You should probably know by now that most of my storytelling choices are deliberate. If the situation looks moronic, it probably *is* moronic. I'll not say anymore about that, lest I reveal any story secrets.
Military doctrine on Isora doesn't include much in the way of air superiority. Aerial bombs and fighter aircraft are gravely underdeveloped. Starships deal too much AoE/splash damage to be used for bombardment.
While I would've liked to refrain from impatiently commenting here like I did last time, it's been about... 48 hours.
And I'm here just drawing out an RPG Battle for Matik, which just involves him hitting a boss that keeps healing himself.
Plz Lim answer did u fall down the stairs or not D:
Hay I am with ya, it seems this almost always happens when I join late, they either disappear or don't post for days on end till the thread is buried or graveyarded.
my sleeping schedule is about as inconsistent as classified information lists
I've also been working on a webcomic (which requires art that takes like 1~3 hours per panel) [It looks awful, though ;-;]
But yes, Urie does think a little too much.
Call her paranoid if you want.
{{i also have no idea how loud/far away the sound of his armor is, so I'm acting like she can't hear it yet.}}
I'm sure you've noticed that Melvin seems to be rather uncaring about the deaths of his fellow Knights.
He tries to keep it inside, mostly. He's not edgy, he's lonely. And also I know could've wrote how Melvin felt while he was walking, but I just acted like the streets were... Empty. Eh.
I'll deal with it next time I post. The feels.
Well Melvin is on street level, which means he might be the first to see/hear Kokkinos approching the Tower. As far as the streets go, ya I am going off the idea that they are empty as well due to the fact a war just went on and this place kinda reminds me of Village of the Damned.
Actualy, all three knights are on the top of the tower by now. Of course, they might notice the tremors if Kokkinos walks closer.
Got my phone back so I can type again and log in. Now as far as the foot steps go, he clearly isn't about to make quakes. This just makes emphasis to the fact he is a tall heavy set person with heavy equipment, or in other words he is just big.
Just a small question that I feel needs to be addresse, now I understand that we can't all post at all times, I to am a Victor of this between going to the courthouse and working a job that is over working me at 10 hours a day five days a week, but I suppose for the better ideal for others and so we arnt constantly asking where every one is:
What days are we able to pist/respond to posts so we can keep the story some what going?
P.S: what can we do to insure these dates/times are really their?
Now I know some one is going to say they have all the time and I will stop you right thereserved in your tracks, ya see I am using a phone to answer/write this post, so I don't have all the time when I have to sit here and make the time to ask questions...that bing said please answer to the best you can and if so let's see if we can abide by these times.
I can easily post every day of the week in the 13-hour period that I'm awake.
As of the moment, I can post whenever I'm up, more or less.
The time varies from morning to night to why the hell am I up at 4 AM?
I have less than 2 weeks before I go back to school though. So, i can post frequently enough probably maybe
Hey guys, Melvin just screamed loudly and is about to slit his own throat.
Whats the holdup?
I would like to turn you to the last post I made it is directly addressing your character, melvin.
My sudden perception of Urie is a very annoyed manager.
"Where's Alex?"
"Training."
"Oh, he's actually doing what he's SUPPOSED TO. WHAT A FaCKING CONCEPT!" (heavy salt and sarcasm)
The Calibur complied with Melvin's request. Seeming to move of its own accord, it tore out of his hand and hovered in the air for a moment. Then it drove toward his throat.
Wait what
How do I react to this????????????????????????????????????
Thin, Did you just get quintuple ninja'd??????
He might react to if the way any other might. 'Oh snap a sword coming at me!' *dodge* 'why thedid my own blade just attack me...'
I have no idea how to react to this.
That's not a wound that people normally come back from.
I'm a doctor, not a magician!
My brain cannot comprehend how to react or how I would react had this situation happened to me.
Alright. First thing is simple and I will list steps for this kinda wound. (May or may not have had to do this for a family member)
Well assuming how deep the wound is and if it hit a vane we are going to assume it did here.
Step 1.) Pressure around the wound to help slow blood loss. Considering its the neck a tourniquet an't the best idea. Once blood has reached a slowed rate of loss next step.
Step 2.) Start the first steps of onsight first aid. In this case we need to try and get the wound closed and the main vane sealed back together, again assuming if it hit the vane, if it didn't move to step 5. Once the flesh is moved back into place we need to clean it and start dressing, next step.
Step 3.) Because its an open wound and on the field, you need to clean it, this means taking something like alcohol or a general disinfectant and cleaning out the wound, time is of the essence here and the quicker you move the less time you take repeating step 2.
Step 4.) Now if it it a main artery your going to have to line that back up and seal it quickly. The best and most effective way this is done on the field is with a lighter and metal to sear the flesh vane back together. Light touches to ensure that it doesn't block off the hollow tubing of the vane other wise you might as well just kill him now. Once that is done make sure that blood lossed is as low as possible then move to next step.
Step 5.) Now we get to the part most people don't have the gut for. You need to stitch the skin back together, this means holding him down and taking a needle and medical thread and manually sowing the flesh back together. First clean the needle to limit infection rate and ensure that it is safe to use, after that thread the needle and start. Some one will have to hold the person down so they don't move because we don't have local anesthetic's here.
Step 6.) Once everything is done we need to clean one last time and dress the wound. To clean a disinfectant and perhaps some kinda cream will be needed to ensure no infections will happen, after that bandage the area (neck in this case) with enough clean cloth and tie it off, but be ready to redress wounds to give them air and to ensure infection rates are low.
Step 7.) Last step, recuperation: Depending on age, health and over all standing this kinda wound takes around 2-3 weeks to heal. So be preparred.
Or we can take the spiral way and use a Spark/Machine to do this...oh wait. If you have a Spark its more then likely your one and only one given to you. So use what you have wisely forgotten ones.
I'm an important character. I have to live. If I don't live then I'll Molotov the town despite the fact that my character could probably be dead and wouldn't have the ability to throw a Molotov.
@Blazecat
May I suggest next time when you design a character you implant them with micro bomb instead? That way when you die you take everything with you.
When I read 'micro bomb' I knew what was coming.
Look Kokkinos an't a doctor and I am taking the moment as a sort of cool down state so as to not over flood, now would be the best time for some one to aid this man.
Urie I've been bleeding out for up to 7.2 seconds hurry up and save me!
Damnit...guess I have to break the damned self impossed Cooldown on posting .-.
[Insert Trollface Here]
*cough* Thanks Thin.
