Net spotted something ahead. She slowed down even more and began to sniff.
There was some sort of slime ahead. Plus a faint scent of undead. Net stopped, although she would be cold because of it. Then she noticed that while the slime's scent had been getting stronger, it was no longer doing so. Which likely meant that the slime had spotted her, though she could not quite understand its actions.
Yet she began moving again. She was almost numb, and her feet barely singed the floor. If she stood still much longer, she'd never move again.
The Clockwork Renegades <[Final goodbye? :(]>
((@Tev: I guess when I said a half-hour I meant two and a half hours, right?))
Bettit turned back to hug Vakros, and he felt a tiny bit better. At least he had someone to comfort him...which wasn't a common commodity in his past.
"I think you stand out the most to me less because of your grey fur, but more because you're who I'm looking for," His heart lifted a little and he smiled. As they walked together she began speaking again. "Are you familiar with this part of Emberlight?"
"No...it's been so long and...a lot of the memories-" He stopped, turning towards her. "If you really don't want to remember something, you usually forget." Just bringing up the subject allowed some of the memories to surface, but he quickly pushed them down before anything specific replayed in his mind. Putting his hands up in a signal that he didn't want to continue talking about it, they kept on walking.
As they made their way down the path leading to the Boroughs, Vakros listened to Bettits comments until he heard 'Cold Steel Borough'. They continued walking, but Vakros was in a completely different place.
((I had some memories here but I felt like they kinda ruined it... D:))
"You might want to put your hood up until we get to my parents' house." She said, and Vakros snapped out of it and commplied quickly. They continued slowly, and Bettit asked him, "Ummm ... just to let you know, I have a little brother at home who doesn't act like other gremlins, so don't expect him to talk or anything ... okay?"
Vakros saw that this was a tough subject for her, and put his arm around her shoulder for a second before bringing it back down to his side.
They stepped up to the house and Bettit knocked, before being engulfed by a nervous Gremlin, a sight that nearly caused Vakros to laugh. He vaguely remembered his brother, much to his displeasure, calling him Vakky. The name now held great emotional discomfort to him.
At Bettit's mention of his name, her parents gave him a look that could clearly convey the message they were trying to get across. Vakros stepped back a bit, rubbing his neck as though it could help cool the embarassed warm there. Bettit asked if they could step in, and her parents suddenly looked a bit confused, but still led them within their home.
Vakros was introduced to the two older Gremlins while Bettit was occupied with her brother, who's name was revealed to be Muren. Vakros didn't really have the time to study him, and a quick glance didn't tell him much.
Teret indicated that everyone should take a seat. "Why don't you two tell us what's going on, now?"
Vakros didn't really know how to explain the situation to these Gremlins, considering he didn't know them too well. Although he hated putting Bettit on the spot, it was her parents, and he hoped she'd know what to say.
(Expect a good handful of errors in there...it's too late to go over this thing. :D ))
Riffin wobbled as fast as he could, trying to shake off the party of knights following him, attempting to capture him. He hid behind a bush, hoping they wouldn't cut the bushes for a few crowns. He peered at the party, who were frustrated at how they couldn't even catch a jelly. As saw a knight wielding a Troika walking towards him, Riffin cursed. When the knight lifted his Troika, Riffin had already inhaled all of the fire he could from Jarvis and he released a ball of fire, burning the small bush and the knight, who was blindly swinging his Troika around. Dodging the swings, Riffin wobbled away from the knights, who were tending to their comrade. He finally reached the lift, and he poked the button that read "To Haven". As he reached the treasure vault, he greeted everyone with a "Hello old chaps!" He hoped everyone would accept him, as he remembered his old friend Travis saying "You are a snob." It was a saddening thought, his best friend disrespecting him. "He was right." Riffin said, promising to try not to do the same mistake again. He squatted on the ground, introducing himself to his new friends. Showing them his antique comb, which they all stared at in awe, he set up his tent, which he had packed in his rucksack the moment he was kicked out of the RJP. He hated his comrades for betraying him, their grins widening as he set out to find another home in which he could smoke Jarvis all day. His opinion changed about knights everyday, from poor warriors begging for crowns, to deadly soldiers set out to destroy his home planet. Once he had finished setting up his tent, which was violet with a small flag depicting the Renegades, he went inside, sitting on his homemade throne, reflecting on what happened that day.
((Ummmm ... Aerorune? Did Azure tell you that you could start posting? Because last I checked, we weren't accepting new Renegades until after the current set of missions was finished.
@Isis- You could have just finished it this afternoon, silly! You didn't have to stay up. But I appreciate it anyway. <3))
"Well, I'm sure you're wondering where I've been," Bettit began, taking of her jacket as she sat on a bench.
"Bettie, why is the back of your coat all bloody?!" Gista cut in, looking at her daughter in alarm.
Bettit stared at her, wide eyes for a moment, then glanced at her coat before looking back at her mother. With all the things that had happened since they left Moorcroft, she had already managed to forget about that.
"Aheh ... got caught by one of my own bombs," the demo answered sheepishly. She figured that leaving out the rest of the details would probably be prudent at this point. "Too much brimstone or blast powder or something. Don't worry though, Vakros fixed me up."
Gista and Teret suddenly looked to approve of the mender a great deal more.
"Anyway," Bettit continued, then paused. She honestly wasn't sure what part of the story to tell, and what to leave out. Not only did she want to avoid worrying her parents unduly, she figured that the Renegades didn't want their existance to be widely known. Under most circumstances, Gista had little notion of what was and wasn't acceptable gossip. After a moment's thought, she figured the best thing to do was to get straight to the point and answer questions as they arose. "I actually need to get that box of Uncle Uret's." She winced a little as she said it, anticipating her father's reaction.
"Absolutely not!" Teret had raised his voice, then glanced over at Muren and lowered it again at the pained expression on his son's face and the little hands clamped over the gremlinite's ears. "What would make you even think such a thing?"
"I talked to Torx, and..."
At the mention of Torx's name, Gista gasped, her hands flying to cover her mouth, and Teret narrowed his eyes.
"Bettit, I know that Torx was your uncle's friend, but he was also a candidate to join the Order," he said sternly. "I don't think that you can ..."
"Patter, it's not like that." Bettit turned to Vakros, frustrated. "You know him better than I do, don't you? Can you explain to them that Torx isn't siding with the Order on this? Please?"
((Oh man, sorry this took so long (Again XP). @Tev and Za-ck: I know I said later today, but something came up and the earliest I could do was right now, which is really late for me. My eyes are drooping and my imagination is running low so I wont be surprised if I get a load of errors from this. If something seems unclear or wrong, then talk to me about it, chances are it's a typo XP.
Oh and I totally forgot @Scamall So you're going to do a first come first serve thing? Hmm, I'm not sure what to do about that. I accepted your character but I don't want him get degenerated by bad writing. No idea what to do about that at the moment :/))
Takun
The Stranger activated the device that would send his image and words through a transmitter, whose signal would hopefully reach the team of constructs. For a moment he was worried that something may have gone wrong for he had only recently gotten the report of what happened at Candlestick Keep. The Defiler was proving to be more of a threat than he had anticipated.
[Hopefully, we can come up with the right strategy to put him out of the equation soon. The less enemies we have, the better] Takun thought. Although he sincerely doubted that someone such as The Defiler could be put down so easily.
His anxiety was put to rest however when he received a transmission from the Gremlin mechanic Dagren, who was accompanying the group of constructs. "Sir, commander Ozlo of The Spiral Order is ready to see you." Dagren said. "Excellent, activate the device." Takun replied.
He stood up and faced the device that would record and transmit his words and actions. After a few seconds a light on top of the contraption came to life signalling its activation. "Commander Ozlo? this is Takun of The Clockwork Renegades. Can you hear me?" He said. "I can hear and see you perfectly fine Stranger. I would like to know what important business you have with me to send a team of your men just so that we may converse." Ozlo replied. "It is regarding an ambitious plan that we are about to put into action. For it, we will require more than the soldiers I currently have at my disposal. I request the assistance of the Knights in this undertaking." Takun said to the commander.
"Our help for something that you are planning? I am more than willing to assist your organization, but we cannot compromise your existence to the Spiralian populace." Ozlo retorted. "They need not know of our existence if you have them follow our instructions, it will be similar to your Crimson Hammer operation, except this time my forces will actually be there instead of only providing reconnaissance information. We will have your squads inserted into areas different from where my men shall be." Takun said.
Ozlo remained silent for a moment before finally answering "Where are you planning to strike?" he said. "The Grand Colony itself." Takun replied. "The Grand Colony?! That is a far too ambitious target even with our combined forces. Add that to the increased number of Crimson Order members that could very well be living inside the Colony itself and the whole thing could very well be suicide!" Ozlo said forcefully. "Our mission is not to destroy it commander Ozlo, our mission is to simply hold back the Gremlin forces while a small group of my men go on another mission. Without a diversionary assault on The Grand Colony, the group I send on the other mission will not stand a chance. Believe me when I say that what they will be performing is of great importance." Takun replied coolly.
Another pause before Ozlo answered "Alright, my men are at your service. Call me again when you require them and tell me where you want them. I hope that what you are planning is beneficial for the endeavors of my people." he said. "It will be beneficial for us both." Takun told Ozlo before shutting down the device.
Takun activated his comm link and spoke to Dagren "You and the constructs are to remain in Haven until further orders. Your job is to relay to the Spiral Order any new information that I pass onto you. You will join the assault when the Knights mobilize. Understood?" He told the mechanic. "...Yes sir." Dagren replied with a hint of resentment. "Good, I hope you will find comfortable accommodations there." Takun said. "I hope so too..." Dagren grumbled with a bit more than a hint of anger. Takun decided it best not pursue the subject any longer and shut off his comm link.
He sat down on a chair in the large war room and began thinking. Even with all the preparations they were making, there was still a chance that something would go wrong, and that alone deserved consideration. Already, back-up plans were forming inside of his mind, running scenarios and trying to think of the best course of action. Most of the time though, the problem that you didn't think of is the one that arises, and the one that could very well spell defeat.
((I'd write IC for the CO to find out about Bettit and Vakros, but I am about to collapse on my computer. I'll do it in the morning, but if a mod wants they can do it earlier than me.))
((just a wee back-story for Tickafir.))
Tickafir liked working under his new boss, Alerek. He was fair, didn't overwork his employees, and never lost his temper. His co-workers where friendly and helpful to the new scientist.
Ever since Tickafir started newschool, he wanted to be an engineer, having grown up tinkering with all kinds of machines and engines. In fact, he was more comfortable with constructions then he was with other gremlins, having known very few in his childhood, and the ones he did know, well, they weren't exactly playmates.
Now his every dream had come true, and he should be the happiest gremlin in all of cradle. But he couldn't, not while keeping this secret inside, never telling anyone, never letting anything slip. If someone found out, his whole life as he planned it would be impossible. He couldn't let that happen.
Life in the Grand Colony was rather bland, the Crimson Order rarely let anything get out of hand, and there were few quarrels among the families. The only real celebrations happened when a new member was accepted into the Order, but normal gremlins had no place there. The one notable day was when King Tinkinzar had a son, but...no. He wouldn't think about that now, he had enough to do settling in, and making his place among the other engineers and mechanics, creating machines for the Colony, to protect and assist those people.
Every day Tickafir woke up, had his breakfast of fried gel core (he didn't eat silkwing, that felt too cruel to him), and headed off to work, in the AI robotics. A short lunch break, then he want to his advanced classes, in programming and software building, after which he went home, ate supper, and worked on his pet project, creating a lichen-splitter. He went to bed, and began all over again, no time spent hanging out with friends, because he had none from childhood, and his co-workers already were part of their little groups.
Then it all changed. The elite gremlins ordered the mechanics to start making only military productions, and stop creating anything else. The purpose for this, no one seemed to know, but everyone could guess. AI production went from automatic jelly farmers to killing machines that could evaluate someones fighting style and counter it. The first results didn't turn out very well, with war mechs that had the minds of children, although they could be trained to fight in time. The Crimson Order commanded them scrapped and restarted, but Tickafir couldn't do that, it would be like throwing babies to the greavers. The night before they were sent to the deconstructer, he hacked in through a back entrance, and sneaked off with his personal favorite, a Cyro Knight that he programmed, labeled Q-77.
Snarp could finally see the Ash Tail in the distance, slowly advancing towards it. Elias was still out cold, and Snarp was tired.
The quicksilver regarded the Ashtail with an icy detachment. Then when the other was in speaking distance, the quicksilver asked one question, a question in one word, that could give them away to any nearby hostile being. Snarp hazarded the risk anyway.
"Renegade?"
"Tell me what?" asked Jinks, frustrated at not being let in on whatever the others where talking about. When the kat nurse explained, he laughed. "We're here for the same reason. Except to defend, not attack, and we're doing it against the spiralians. I have no idea why I would join you in helping them." He snickered at Terarr, who was still somewhat dazed at the conversation. Terarr shook his head to clear it, then said, "Why not? It's a lot more fun then hanging out in Devilite city, having the only thing to look forward to is hard work." Jinks flinched. Terarr knew his sentence had hit home. Since they had been friends, Terarr knew that Jinks was not looking forward to the office work ahead of every Devilite. "But what do you DO in this... "Renegades"? Sounds like a bunch of fighting against our own side to me. Wouldn't it be better just to raid haven? I've heard rumors about these huge gun puppies called "The Roarmulus Twins". The spiralians hate gun puppies. The plan is completely full proof. No amount of those worthless spiralians can defete them." Terarr answered, "But the spiralians keep sabotaging them before the gremlins can make them good enough." Jinks tried to look for an answer, but finding none, said "Ok, you win. Sounds like fun and it's the only way to kill, er, get rid of, the spiralians." He said it with a hintof sarcasm, to notify the kat and other devilite that he wasn't to thrilled with the idea.
As Net approached the slime, she could identify it as a quicksilver. In front of it was a strange blue ball.
She did not notice how close she was to it until it asked a question.
"Renegade?"
This slightly startled her. Why, exactly, was it asking this? But she felt that she should answer, so she did.
"Y-Yes."
((lol, my party is making so many short posts that i think ill break in and get things moving again... and im following ninza's idea XD))
A knight clothed in silvermail and a nameless hat lay at the base of a tree of a Jelly Farm with a small triglav angled before him. It wasnt exactly his intention to be on the ground.
A knight dressed in Dusker armor holding a modified 'blow torch' firodriver came into view, "Ugh. Elias, what are you doing? Every time I come out here to find you, you're always on your face..."
Elias turned his head up toward the voice, "0.o REGGIE, you know how i feel about you wearing that suit. What they do to those poor pups to make those is barbaric. T~T Take it off! D:<"
"But its- gah, fine, But only if you answer me... and because i hate seeing you upset :/. What do you DO out here, anyway?" He had already started reequipping before Elias could finish his tirade.
"Well, I've been trying to get that move to work. Y'know, the quake I've been trying to make with my little triglav. Its got the ability to do it, I just know it... but... i don't think i have the strength to get it done..." his voice started to quaver. He looked up, hoping for encouragement from his only friend, but saw him in Almirian Crusader staring blankly at him. "Showoff," he muttered under his breath, "he knows I've wanted that but haven't been able to acquire it -.-"
"You know its dangerous to be out here alone, right?" there wasn't much concern in his voice, for he knew what Elias was capable of, especially with what he had proven with just the tazer mode of his pulsar.
"Nah, I've been here so many times, the jellies don't bother me anymore. When I first started coming here, they picked on me a bit, but i wasn't gonna give up a perfect, quiet training sight, and they came to realize I'm not here to hurt them." a sense of pride washed over him.
"Psh, you and your animals. Anyway, we should be going. The boss is waiting on us, and he wants to review the details of your uh... lumber socket attachments? or something?"
"An assorted of right-arm attachments for lumbers, so that maybe we could use them for more than paperweights and battering rams," he stated sarcastically as they headed for the elevator back to the engineer's station.
Reggie chuckled as they stepped onto the platform. As the elevator began to rise, everything around him began to fade, until it began to flash into another image.
Blinking, Elias became aware he was in a cooling chamber, a quicksilver standing near him, spikes moved to the formation of prepared attack. For a moment, he was alarmed, until he remembered what was going on. Still half dazed, and head throbbing for who-knows-what reason, he decided not to move, and instead gleaned an image off Snarp's mind as to what was perturbing him.
Eyes flashing open, headache suddenly gone, Elias sprang to his feet, "PUPPY!!!" He darted toward the figure behind the snowy curtain, not caring if it was hostile or not... he was already dead, so it didnt really matter. He could sense Snarp's worry but still he ran, though in his dash, he failed to notice the loose piping on the ground. He tumbled and rolled, ending in a heap before what he could now tell was an ash tail. He reached up hesitantly and began to playfully scratch it behind its ears.
A spark of his dream came back to him. Yea Reggie, me and my animals. He smiled.
Mialii frowned a little at Jinks. She didn't want to bring back recruits who weren't going to be dedicated to the cause; just one creature defecting at the wrong time could mean disaster. Still, every creature could be important, and now that she had told him what they were up to, she didn't want him running off. He didn't look like the sort who could keep his mouth shut.
The nurse smiled again, a bit less genuine this time. "Don't think you have to join us," she said in her sweetest tone. "If getting rid of the Knights permanently rather than being perpetually locked in a war that neither side can win doesn't sound good to you."
Turning to Terarr, Mialii's smile warmed back up. As much as a ghost's could, anyway. "Unless you have something else you'd like to do right now, we should go meet our escort. The rest of the recruits are waiting with them."
She started to float off before glancing behind her to see if the two devilites were following. If she was lucky, Konjuring Kat would be back with his own set of recruits by the time they rejoined the zombies.
Net backed off a step as the blue ball flared and became a blue... phantom?
A second later, the phantom shrieked "PUPPY!!!" and darted towards her. He tripped over something on the ground, but, seeming not to be bothered 'Of course, it's undead,' He began scratching her.
Other wolvers must like that, in fact, Net personally knew some who did, but she hated it. She backed off even further, shaking her head.
"Stop," she muttered.
((I'm sorry Elias, she's not one of your animals. :3))
0.o... "EY SNARP, ITS A TALKING WOLVER :D..." Turning back to the wolver who had backed away, he sensed she, or at least Elias supposed it was a she by its voice, had been discomforted by his friendly gesture. "Er... sorry." He noticed the ash tail was shivering, and took pity on her. In his tumble before, he had barely noticed that there had been some shrapnel, which he supposed was Snarp's handiwork. "Wait here, k?... uh... maybe not, you should probably walk around a bit..."
He went back to the shredded heaps, though he didn't find much to work with. While he grab grabbed the gremlin's coat, he decided to relay the Renegade's intentions to the ash tail, she seemed friendly enough, anyway, and maybe she would join them. He scrounged through the coat, finding only a volcanic ore and a small red shard. Still talking about there mission, he plunged into his leg pack to get a few long lengths of cord and a couple blaze peppers he had long forgotten about. Another memory washed over him, he used to dare Reggie into a contest with them... I wish... hhh, Reggie...
Snapping back to reality, and having finished his rant, he wove the wrapped the wires width-wise around the ore, and, setting his pulsar to the lowest possible current he could, tied it to the top of the ore.
"First, with your permission, id like to give this to you. The energy in the ore and the tiny amount of electricity going through it when i turn it on warm these wires enough to keep you from freezing, and i can use the gremlins pack as an insulator so it the ore wont singe your fur, cuz it'll be much hotter than the wires. Second, I completely forgot to introduce myself I'm Elias, a recon of the Clockwork Renegades, and... uh," he peered around, "ah, this is Snarp, my partymate. And third... you are?"
At that, he sensed that if Snarp had arms, he would have facepalmed.
((@Aeorune: I didn't give you permission to start yet since you may find it boring until we can properly introduce Riffin, but if you are as long as you do not interact with the other players prematurely than I suppose you can passively RP until then.))
Rultaos
The Trojan and the Slag-Guard entered Charred Court. Much like the other areas, the place was also swarming with Vanaduke's soldiers. That was when Rultaos realized something [How are we going to tell the difference of the rebels and the soldiers?] he thought; he knew that he had forgotten to ask Achilles something.
Rultaos thought back; Achilles said that they attempted to assist the Sprites that were tortured by both Vanaduke and the warriors for amusement. They would certainly know who helped them, as long as they were still right in the head. Luckily the occasional intervention of the Knights had helped keep them sane; most of them at least.
"Ok Hanaphs, here's what we're going to do: Split up and look for the Sprites; the members of this rebel group Achilles told me about are said to help the Sprites, so we will ask them what they know. However, make it look like you are there to torture them so that we do not raise suspicion among the hundreds of warriors here. We are good fighters, but there are only two of us, and I do not have my shield. Act natural, now go." Rultaos ordered his friend as the two split up and began searching around the area.
He walked around the area but had a hard time seeing any Sprites; the number of guards here had doubled dramatically since he was last in The Citadel. this was going to take a while.
Gremlin Merchant
Korias was in the middle of closing his shop. The day hadn't exactly been profitable and leaving the shop open would only be a waste of time and energy. Just as he was shutting the canopy of his home, he saw something at the home of one of his neighbors; Bettit had returned and was being followed by a strange, grey-furred fellow. [Hmm, why did she disappear before, and why did she return with such an unusual stranger. "They" will want to know about this...] Korias thought.
He went inside his home and powered up an old comm unit on a table. He had to punch the power source twice before it started working. "Hello? Can you hear me?" He said to the old contraption. "Yes--bzzt-- why--*crackle*--called us?" responded the device. "Well, I have information that may capture your interest. The Gremlin girl; the one who disappeared a few days ago has returned, with a rather unsettling fellow. You remember her right? The nephew of Torx?" Korias replied.
The device was did not speak for a moment, with only static coming out of the speakers.
"We--*crackle*--sending--bzzt--to investigate--*pop*--will be rewarded." the device finally said. "Thank you. I am at the service of the king." Korias said as a mischievous grin formed on his face; his store wasn't his only source of income. He only hoped that his accomplices would not make too much of a mess in Stone Field Borough.
Mialii turned and left. Terarr turned and looked at the other devilite and said "Why don't you come?" Jinks answered, "I didn't say I wasn't." Then he snickered. "I was just annoying you. I think it's a great idea!" Terarr slapped him "Jerk!" he said, grumpily. "It's Jinks. I own you at everything." He laughed. but sadly, it was true. Because Terarr couldn't think of a good comeback (Jinks was even better at that), he turned and followed Mialii with Jinks right behind him.
"You know him better than I do, don't you? Can you explain to them that Torx isn't siding with the Order on this? Please?"
Vakros coughed a bit, clawing through his mind for an acceptable explanation. He couldn't mess up, like back at the Vault, he needed to say something that proved to them that Torx was with them. "To be honest," He started slowly, picking his way through his words, "I didn't know Torx until he..." Vakros stopped, the sentence dropping like a stone. He was just about to mention the Renegades. He didn't know if he could trust these Gremlins with information like that. "...until he joined the group I'm in. Since then he had constantly proposed an attack upon the Grand Colony. You must of known him at least a little, right? He wants revenge for...everything. He's that kind of guy."
He finished, leaning back a tiny bit in his chair. He hoped that he was convincing enough, and that Torx WAS that sort of guy...he hardly knew the old Gremlin.
Teret eyed Vakros for a moment and then sighed, tilting his head forward and rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Torx always has been ... single-minded," he said finally, then turned his gaze to Bettit without lifting his head. "So. Are you a part of this apparently-secret group now, too, young lady?"
"Errr ..." Bettit wasn't quite sure how to answer that question. She had never been formally inducted, but she wasn't sure if they actually did formal inductions. She was just relieved that Vakros' words had seemed to resonate with her father. "More or less, I suppose. But that isn't the point, Patter. Can we please just have the box? It's really important."
"I'd rather speak to Torx about it personally."
Bettit frowned and chewed her lip as she glanced at Vakros, then turned back to her parents. "If Torx has to come here, a lot of creatures are going to die," she said gravely, dropping her voice. "There would be an attack leveled at the Grand Palace itself to provide cover and distraction enough for him to get here without the Order noticing ... that's why we aren't supposed to be here."
Teret lifted his head at that, and the two gremlins stared at each other wordlessly. Gista, who had not stopped wringing her hands (it seemed a habit), kept glancing back and forth, looking over at Vakros every so often to see if he was going to intervene. After a few moments, Bettit stood up. She had just gotten an idea.
"I'll just get it myself then," she said quietly, turning to Vakros to wink at him and gesture for him to stay put for a moment.
"But the traps I put on that compartment are deadly!" Gista exclaimed shrilly in surprise, jumping up as Teret stood slowly. Muren squeaked on the other side of the room at the noise, and his mother looked over at him guiltily.
"Then I certainly hope I'm lucky while trying to disarm them," Bettit answered, striding toward a door on the opposite wall from the entrance. She was bluffing and she could tell her father knew it, but Gista was already hurrying to grab her tools from a table built into an alcove in the corner, where a series of lenses were set up.
Teret put his hands on his hips and glowered at the door as Bettit and Gista disappeared into it, then turned back to Vakros. He looked stern, but not angry ... more just tired. "So. What sort of organization is this, anyway? I'd like to know what my only daughter is up to, and I get the feeling that no matter how much Gista protests, you two will be gone shortly after she's pulled that thing out of the floor."
"Ey Snarp, a talking Wolver!!" exclaimed Elias, as the phantom playfully interacted with the wolver that had confirmed Snarp's suspicions.
Snarp could only respond, "...okay?" as the phantom ruffled through the wolver's fur.
Then something occured to the Lichen.
"...this is Snarp, my partymate." said Elias.
Snarp tentatively asked, "Are you going to the Vault? We can get you to the lift and send you off, or you could, um, stay with us on a dangerous reconnaisance mission. I think I might've seen the steampipes of a Battlepod in the distance too."
The phantom, telling her to wait there, dashed away to a pile of scraps that were likely caused by the sounds she had heard earlier. After making something, he returned with it.
"First, with your permission, I'd like to give this to you. The energy in the ore and the tiny amount of electricity going through it when I turn it on will warm these wires enough to keep you from freezing, and I can use the gremlins pack as an insulator so it the ore won't singe your fur, cause it'll be much hotter than the wires. Second, I completely forgot to introduce myself I'm Elias, a recon of the Clockwork Renegades, and... uh," he peered around, "ah, this is Snarp, my partymate. And third... you are?"
The quicksilver spoke up. "Are you going to the Vault? We can get you to the lift and send you off, or you could, um, stay with us on a dangerous reconnaisance mission. I think I might've seen the steampipes of a Battlepod in the distance too."
Net thought for a moment. "My name is Netlom. And, well..."
She took a deep breath. "How late was I for the meeting?"
((Meaning the first meeting.))
((Hey guys, sorry for the long break, but I can finally start posting regularly again. Also, check out the second part of my fic Forged Steel if you haven't yet.))
Brastley led the trio of Renegades to a large pair of double doors, which were flanked by yet more Guardian class knights. As they approached, they opened the entrance, allowing the small group to walk inside.
It was a somewhat modest chamber, but seeing as it was Commander Ozlo's private office, it was still rather impressive looking. The commander himself was currently sitting at a desk looking at some papers, but he quickly noticed their arrival. He stood up, revealing his imposing height as he walked around the desk to greet them personally.
"Welcome, members of the Clockwork Renegades. I have been expecting you." He said in a welcoming tone. He looked at Brastley who was still standing at attention. "You may be excused young knight; I have heard about what you went through to escort these guests here, and I am very impressed by your performance. I hope there are many more recruits out there like you."
With a quick salute and a small smile, Brastley left the room, the doors shutting behind him.
Ozlo now turned to the Renegades, with a somewhat apologetic look on his face.
"I am sorry that you ran into such difficulties arriving here. If I had known earlier about the Defiler's attack, I would have sent reinforcements for your protection."
Dagren accepted the apology with a small grunt. "We got here fine, and that's what really matters most." Dagren didn't show it, but he was thankful that the commander was concerned about their safety.
Ozlo nodded in understanding and now straightened up, getting ready for business. "I have heard that your leader Takun would like to speak to me?"
Dagren nodded and replied:
"Yes, that is indeed correct. I will contact him now."
Taking out a small communicator from one of his pockets, Dagren notified Takun of their arrival and that Ozlo was waiting.
After getting a confirmation from the Stranger, Dagren activated the device embedded in Fridge.
The mecha knight was suddenly overcome with the most bizarre feeling. His motor functions froze as the projector sputtered to life, displaying a holographic representation of the Renegade leader himself. Fridge found himself unable to move at all as the virtual conference began. Even more shockingly, Takun's voice was coming out of his own vocal synthesizer!
For the whole conversation, Fridge had the strange experience of acting as the mouthpiece of their leader... a bit jarring, but also kinda neat now that he thought about it.
Takun then gave some final instructions to Dagren:
"You and the constructs are to remain in Haven until further orders. Your job is to relay to the Spiral Order any new information that I pass onto you. You will join the assault when the Knights mobilize. Understood?"
Dagren was honestly a bit taken aback at this statement. He had expected that they would immediately return to the Treasure Vault after the mission was over. Dagren still felt very uneasy around all these knights... but if it was for the best, then he would reluctantly follow orders.
"...Yes sir." He replied with a hint of resentment.
"Good, I hope you will find comfortable accommodations there." Takun stated.
"I hope so too..." Dagren muttered under his breath, cursing his luck.
It looked like they were gonna be stuck here for quite a while.
((I'll try to post more often from now on))
Scharr
"I'm one of the scientists who built you, I can fix you, too." Tickafir volunteered, "But I'll need a place to work, and more tools than I have here. Help me find some more of those battle vehicles, and take me back to the Renegades. I'm sure I can fix you there."

Scharr considered the gremlin's words. If he returned to the Renegades with a recruit and resources, he had both a chance of being re-accepted after his disappearance, and a mechanic who claimed to be able to repair him. The chances of either of those working in his favor would require further analysis, but he didn't have many other options.
"Fine," he answered. "Indicate which battle vehicles you intend to find; I will assist you in locating them and lead you to the Renegades. You will then repair me."
((Ergh, I'm not so good with writing Scharr. >.< Again, sorry this took so long, Ninza, especially for something so short. It was a bit of a juggle who was actually going to do it. Ebil, I'll have something for you up a bit later today. I'm trying to think of how to roll with the request you made.
@Azure: Uhhh .... are we still accepting a villain?))
Nodding at the Retrode, Tickafir set about explaining the appearance of the war machines while exchanging cloaks.((I'm assuming gremlins wear like a tunic or something under those, if not, then either things get really awkward, or AIs don't care that much.))"It's hydraulically bipedal, with reverse knees, hump-backed with the engine and has two Volcanic Pepperboxes on the front, with a small model of a Roarmulus head in between them. It's about nine meters tall, and half that in width and length." Back in his old menders cloak, Tickafir wriggled uncomfortably. "I hate this old thing." he mumbled, "I wish Stalkers and Constructs were normally seen together."
((Short post is shorter. XD Can I meet you in-game sometime to discuss some stuff, Tev?))
((Yup! Whenever you want, just let me know. And still trying to think for the next post with Mialii and Terarr & Co. Hopefully I'll think of something to add to this post in the IC department there soon.
And I always assumed those were just coats they were wearing, with shirts underneath.))
((Hey guys, soo... Our laptop kind of broke down and my family is still trying to get it fixed so I probably wont be able to post until then. I'm currently logged in from a friend's computer just to tell you guys this :(.
@Tev: Scamall said that he would do a first come, first serve deal on his villain since he can't post, but he has not said how he would go about it. I'd think of a way but as you can see I'm in a bit of a pickle here.
Hopefully it'll be fixed within a few days, being at home without internet is real boring :/))
Vakros had to chuckle a bit at that. "I wouldn't worry to much, we won't shove her into oncoming rockets or anything. The organization is called...T.C.R., and it's just a...fairly large group of Clockwork natives fighting to get the knights out. It's dangerous, but what isn't these days." He glanced up, catching Teret's gaze. "She's amoung good people. The 'Gades gave me a job, a home, a purpose....a family. I owe everything to them." Looking back towards the doorway expectantly, he said, "And chef Fullin makes the best roast Silkwing..."
((Okay, here's some IC - now that I'm answering all three of my character sets, I figured it needed a new post. I'm changing how Scharr is written a little, because I really don't feel like reviewing all of his posts to get it right every time he has an action. Ebil requested an encounter while we were talking in-game (he hasn't gotten to do much yet), so here we go!
@Isis: Heh, sorry hon - I promise this is the last post in which Vakky is stuck talking alone with Teret. XD
@Azure: First ... sorry to hear about your computer troubles! Hope everything gets resolved soon. Second ... I sent you a message in game, but can't for the life of me remember what it was about right now (it was late D:). Third ... if you're adding NPCs to the page 1 list, I vote Dagren. He's actually been around since the beginning of the story, even if he only recently got a name. XD And fourth: Well, so far nobody seems all that interested in controlling a villain, since no one has stepped forward, and you and Za-Ck and I already have enough characters we're writing. Does another PC villain even fit solidly into the plans we've made?))
Scharr
"I see," Scharr answered, disregarding Tickafir's last comment as irrelevant to their current objective. He made his way over to the nearest console and plugged himself into it to scan the facility for the locations of the machines described, a nagging question hovering at the edges of his memory circuits: if the gremlin was one of the researchers who built him, why did he not recognize him?
"How many of these machines do you require?" the construct asked, locations of constructs that potentially fit the description given lighting up on his interior map. Once they were all loaded, he didn't wait for an answer before moving toward the nearest one; Tickafir could follow at his own pace.
Mialii
Mialii could hear the two devilites chatting behind her as she reached the rendesvous point. She could see the half dozen zombies she had brought as an escort standing with the the two recruits that would be coming with them now, and Konjuring Kat floated up with a Blookat just before she reached them.
"This is Blouri," Kat introduced his recruit. A slip of parchment floated over to the Spookat nurse, and she glanced at the list of names before stowing it in her pouch. "And here are the others who'll join you when the Renegades call for them."
"Pleasure to meet you, Blouri," Mialii replied. "And thank you, Kat. I'll leave you to your studies once more now that you're feeling better, but don't hesitate to contact me if you're feeling any additional symptoms." She touched her nose to his in farewell.
"Alright then," she nurse announced to the others as Kat floated down the hall to take a look at the damages to his precious library. "Let's get going."
It wasn't far to the Renegade elevator, and with a bit of maneuvering, the two Kats, eight Zombies, and two Devilites manages to fit inside ... barely. The zombie mashed against the console punched in the coordinates, and the elevator shuddered to life before heading down the shaft ...
... only to stop a few floors down, well above their destination. Electricity crackled across the console, and there was the faint smell of burning wires.
"Oh pish," Mialii muttered as she disembarked onto a floating island, zombies tumbling haphazardly out of the elevator behind her. She hoped that none of them had tripped on Terarr or his friend, Jinks. Her annoyance turned to alarm, however, when the sound of growling reached her ears and a number of furry brown shapes popped into view, each of them heavily foaming at the mouth. If she hadn't been a ghost, she would have gone pale.
"We seem to have stumbled into a Wolver den," the Spookat said softly so as not to provoke any of the animals into attacking. She floated backward into the group so that everyone could hear her. "From what I've learned, they're quite territorial, and the rabid ones are devoid of the sense we're used to seeing from our Wolver fellows in the Renegades. We may have a bit of ... trouble reaching another elevator."
She had barely finished speaking when the first of the rabid Wolvers lunged forward.
Teret (because Bettit isn't really in this post XD)
Teret chuckled softly at the silkwing comment, but still didn't smile. "Don't let Gista hear you say that; she thinks eating silkwing is an abomination," he answered, his eyes following Vakros' to the door. "It took almost half a cycle to get that thing settled in there with all the traps set up. It'll only take a fraction of that time to get it out, but it will still be a-"
His words were cut off by a joyful squeal from Bettit on the other side of the door.
"Must have told her the news," He mumbled to himself before turning away from the door. "As much as I'm going to worry about you two heading off with whatever this thing is," the older gremlin said wearily. "It's going to be a relief that it's gone. There's no comfort in knowing that the home you're raising your family in has something the Order wants hidden under the floor."
Teret sat down again slowly and met Vakros' eyes. His expression indicated that he had decided to like Bettit's friend. "You seem like a sensible gremlin ... unlike my daughter. I want to be able to trust you to take care of her."
He was quiet for a moment as he stuffed two pipes and offered one to the mender.
"You see, Bettie doesn't really make friends," he said finally, puffing thoughtfully on his own pipe. "She's also very protective of Muren, and doesn't like to give others the opportunity to ... react poorly to his unusual behavior." He glanced over at Muren, who had settled himself to the task of transferring dozens of tiny bearings one at a time into a new container, then turned back to Vakros. "I doubt you realize how highly it speaks of her regard for you that she would bring you here, even on business." He reconsidered. "Especially on business. I hope that her regard is not misplaced, and from the little I've seen, I don't think it is."
"That being said," he added with fatherly sternness, leaning forward as he looked the mender in the eye and pointing the mouthpiece of the pipe at him for added emphasis. "If anything should happen to her, I intend to hold you personally responsible."
Feeling vaguely satisfied at having managed to do a tiny portion of his fatherly duty, Teret returned the pipe to his mouth and sat back in his chair to gauge Vakros' reaction to his words.
except for my note to Isisdelltion, that if you have Chrome get the extension Lazarus and everytime everything gets deleted, go back to the comment click the Lazarus sign and get everything back.
will post as Talbot as soon as possible))
First come, first served.
Give it a try, at least. I keep switching my opinion between portrayal and literary quality. Just go right ahead and write. I'll try not to judge too harshly.
As the rabid wolvers charged at the spookat nurse, and all the other beings in the elevator, Terarr, forgetting that he was in an elevator full of things, tried to jump to the side so that the wolvers wouldn't hit him. He bumped into Jinks, who bumped into someone else (I think it was a zombie of some sort) who bumped into someone else, starting a chain reaction. Instead of jumping out of the way, Terarr caused everyone to tumble out of the elevator. It did do some good, though, because the wolvers who thought that they would land on "enemies", rammed into the back wall of the elevator. They were soon oh they're feet, however, so that didn't give anyone much time. Some undead who once were solders took that time and used it wisely. Terarr wasn't very good at face to face combat, so he didn't use that time very well. He pulled out something from his back pack (It happened to be a blast bomb) and threw it at the wolvers, but the undead got in the way, because they were used to team work, not getting hit by bombs. It hit some undead, knocking them into the walls of the elevator.
((That was very fun :). I'm just afraid I'll kill all the wolvers one way or another before Tev gets to fight anything, so I'll leave the next part to her.))
Talbot sat there, smoking his cigar and drinking his brandy in his makeshift camp. He never stayed in one place very long, mainly because when ever a knight came down he would kill them so nobody knew about his camp, so in the end people would investigate, but also because he liked a change of scenery. He had spent the day like most over - planning and watching unlucky knights slowly bleed to death if they came close to the camp. It had been quite a task making sure no creatures attacked the camp, but in the end they understood that if they wanted to live, they would have to keep out of his way. Planning. It just came back into his mind. He had been planning to get revenge on the spiral order. Just then, he heard a rustling in the leaves nearby. This was strange, as he had chosen a clam and sunny place. Not a rainy place, not a snowy place, just a perfectly still normal sunny one. Light he corrected himself. A big bright light bulb hung from the metal gears and bars of this strange world. He looked around. There was nobody in sight, but as he knew, there is more to life than what you can see. He got his swords and walked to the bushes. Suddenly he saw something out of the corner of he eye move and there stood a shivering ash tail knight. ''Pl... Please don't hurt m...me'' the ash tail said. In a sarcastic voice Talbot said ''Oh, I’m sorry, but I can't trust you not to tell Intel about me so, I'll just have to kill you.'' As he got out his Barbarous thorn blade the knight screamed ''Please, I won't tell anybody, I promise, PLEA-'' Talbot swiped his sword lightly, hitting the knights leg perfectly ''ARGH'' screamed the knight trying to drag himself away. ''Good luck with the wolvers'' Talbot laughed as a wolver jumped out, grabbed the knight who had fainted and dashed off. Talbot sipped a bit more brandy as he listened to the echoes of the knight’s screams. ((Urgh. Being a bloodthirsty knight makes me feel bad :|)) ''I'll soon have to move camp again'' Talbot thought to himself.
((Copied it up into word and spell checked it (◕ω◕) I'm very happy about this))
Give in to the dark side, Tear. Let the hatred flow through you. Let it fill your every being.
Now, on a Seerus note, I liked it. You portrayed him well, which is what this fanfic is all about. Writing wasn't PERFECT, but who am I to judge? Not everything on the internet can be perfect. That's why we have trolls. Good job, Tear. Talbot is yours.
Wait, is the word Seerus filtered to the word Seerus? Oh, I hate puns.
"We should only need half a dozen, any more would be hard to keep hidden." Tickafir answered Scharr, as he followed after him, "On a new subject, what kind of problems are you having with your programming? I can't remember anything wrong with the system we used for your class."
((Two line of post = /epicfail...sorry >.<))
((Posting from a friend's computer. I'll try to write up as much as I can.
@Tear: Alrighty, looks like you'll be playing Talbot from here on out :). I'll add you to the character list right now.
@Tev: Dagren could be a notable NPC I guess, adding him now :)
I also noticed that I haven't posted as The Defiler in a while. Having a hard time to think about his next move right now. Maybe I'll have one by the time our computer is fixed.))
Rultaos
Weaving through the thick crowd, Rultaos finally spotted a Sprite hiding behind burnt debris. He approached the cowering creature and proceeded o grab it by its head and flail it around in the air. "Well well well, what do we have here?" Rultaos said so that several people could hear it. "Looks like someone's trying to escape their punishment, well I'll just have to teach you a lesson..." He said menacingly at the Sprite. "No! No! I wasn't hiding, I was just looking for something. I swear!" The Sprite pleaded. "Smooth talk wont save you." Rultaos said as he brought the Sprite into a chamber that didn't seem to have any warriors in it and dropped the green creature to the floor.
The Sprite covered his body with his small hands and pleaded "Please, at least make it quick." he said. Rultaos knelt to the floor next to it "Calm down and lower your voice, I'm not here to hurt you. I just needed to make sure that none of them would suspect me. I need to ask something of you." he whispered to the Sprite.
"Oh, thank Cradle. I wasn't sure if I could survive another beating." The Sprite said, relieved. "What is your name?" Rultaos asked, trying to calm the small monster down; he would be more helpful if he trusted Rultaos. "I... I don't really have a name... It's been so long that The Sprites have lived here that we don't bother with names anymore. Except a for a few of course, but survival is what we usually care about now." The Sprite replied, obviously talking much more than he should; the happiness of not getting tortured seemed to have already gotten rid of whatever wariness he might have had.
"I shall refer to you as Stag. Is that alright?" Rultaos asked. "Stag... I like it." The Sprite replied. "Good, now there is something I must ask you to do for me." Rultaos told him. "What do you need?" Stag asked.
"I've heard that there is a group of Citadel soldiers that assist you rather than torture you. I want you to tell me how I can find them. It is very important that I speak to them" Rultaos explained.
Stag thought for a long while before answering "They call themselves the Phoenix Ash. They use an exchange of words to identify friends and foes. You must say to them 'Long Live Vanaduke' They will reply 'Glory to the Citadel' then you must say 'The Phoenix expires'. If you say that then they should reply 'and new life shall rise'. That is all I know." Stag told Rultaos.
"Thank you my friend, but I cannot possibly say that to everyone in this area, I will look suspicious and possibly drive away any members within the vicinity. Can look through here and identify any members you can see?" Rultaos asked as he pointed at several large cracks in the wall. Stag obliged and peered through the cracks. Rultaos waited for a reply.
Finally he said "There. The Slag-Walker that's talking to Thorn, he's one of the insane ones." Rultaos peeked through and saw the Slag-Walker that Stag had pointed out. "Thank you, I am sorry that I cannot remain to help protect you, but there are more important things that must be taken care of." Rultaos said apologetically. "I understand. Don't worry, I can take care of myself. Maybe when this horrible war is over and the Knights finally vanquish this burning kingdom, us Sprites can leave and live like everyone else in the Clockworks..." Stag said hopefully as Rultaos left the chamber.
As he approached the Slag-Walker, he thought to himself [If the Knights aren't the ones who end Vanaduke's tyranny, the Renegades will do it, one way or another...]
how will i get to know about T.C.R? Their not known to knights so how will Talbot find out about them. I had an idea, but writing it out...would be difficult and anything but easy. It just wouldn't be good. 'Applicants must wait to be introduced' I'll just wait for you guys to think about my entry? If you want to chat to me in game, I tend to be on at around 4 and later. If Tearninja isn't on, i'm not likely to be on at all.
Thanks, Tear.))
Hanaphs nodded at Rultaos's instructions. They split up, Rultaos going one way, and Hanaphs going around a corner where no one was. "Well, time to try this out." Hanaphs thought aloud. He closed his eyes and thought deeply- about everything that happened scince that fateful day (cycle?) with the knight.
The other Slag Guards that laughed at him, the Slag Walkers who scratched his bones, and the Trojans which pushed him over. However, although it was technically the knight's fault, he forgave him: the knight was just trying to get home.
Then he thought of of Sir Ignis. Oh, how he wished to rip that back-stabbing bucket of charcoal and bones limb from limb! That guy was only his friend because Hanaphs was the 3rd in command. That guy laughed, pushed, and even stabbed him- 8 times!
Hanaphs opened his eyes. He was filled with so much anger- actually, he was a bit darker red than most Slags, and even a few plumes of fire came up in some spots. His eyes were the slanted eyes he always got when angry. "Now where the Vog are those Sprites?" He asked himself as he walked back around the corner.
As he walked around looking for Sprites, he would slam his spear down, and puff of fire would come from underneath it. Even so, he blended in almost perfectly with the other Slag Guards. No one noticed him.
For a while he walked around looking for the Sprites, keeping in all the thoughts he had in his mind. Eventually, Hanaphs found what he was looking for, a Sprite named Twig, being scared half to death by some Slag Walkers, along with a curse place on the poor spirit by Vanaduke, shown by the unatural color.
This only made the Slag Guard angrier (If that was even possible). However, instead of rushing in and blowing his cover, he devised a plan. He came up to the Slag Walkers and spoke in a commanding voice, "Alright, Alright, that's enough. Lord Vanaduke has ordered that this sprite is to be taken and be tortured personally by him." He grabbed Twig by the ear, not gently, but not harshly. "Move aside." The Walkers all quickly moved in straight line to the left of Hanaphs. "Other way..." Hanaphs said irratatedly as the wakers moved to the right of him.
Hanaphs and the cursed spirit moved along. "Oh please, no! Anything but that! Do you know what happens when a Sprite dies?!" The red sprite cried out, uselessly trying to tug it's ear out of Hanaphs's grasp. Hanaphs bent down and whispered, "Don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you. Just pretend I am until we get to the nature circle." Hanaphs tried to say it as kindly as possible, but it's hard to sound nice when you're trying to stay angry. Still, the sprite murrmered, "...Hanaphs?" The two continued walking, except Twig stopped sturggling.
Finally, the two made it to a little green circle of plants. Near it were a few Sprites like Twig (only greener), and the Nature Sprite. Twig bounced over to the little circle, with all the other sprites looking at him like they just got a suprise birthday party. Twig finally made it inside the circle. The curse was lifted, and the green color returned. The other Sprites ran up to him and stared asking questions at the same time. Who knew Sprites could be so overwhelming.
By that time, Hanaphs was green and laughing. The Nature Sprite turned to the Slag Gaurd infront of him/her/it, and said in a rather majestic tone, "Thank you once again Hanaphs. I don't know what we would do without you."
"Oh, it was nothing." The Slag Guard chuckled. "Anyways, I'm here to ask you a question. I have heard of a group of rebels that helps Sprites as I do. I was hoping if you knew of any." Hanaphs asked.
The blue spirit tilited it's head and looked at the ceilling for a momment, thinking. "Ah yes, the Phoenix Ash!"The Nature Sprite finally answered. "I do not know much, but one Sprite has told me of a member named Sir Fysus, a Trojan. You will reconize him by his head, which half of has been... Er, shattered."
Hanaphs shuddered at the thought of a Trojan with only half of it's head, becoming a bit blue. "Uh, well thank you Nature." Hanaphs bowed.
"Anything for a friend." The spirit chuckled, "Good luck, and be safe now." The other Sprites all waved goodbye, and wished their friend good luck.
Hanaphs walked backwards and waved back smiling, before turning back to walk forward. He thought things that made him mad, and turned crimson red.
By now, the Nature Sprite had memorized what all Hanaph's colors meant. "That's unhealthy."
((Guess what? Because of my extreme lazyness, that took me a week to finish! That's right, 7 stink'n days! I was planning on having Hanaphs find Fysus, but this is taking just to long. Well, I'll do it later. See y'all later.))
"My name is Netlom." said the Ash Tail. "...How late was I for the meeting?"
"Oh..." said Snarp. "Uh, well, actually the meeting was finished by the time we set out into the Clockworks. So...
Are you still going up?"
((gah, short post.))
Net thought for a moment.
"What exactly is this reconnaisance mission about?" she asked.
(Same. I have a feeling that they were talking about two different meetings. Net's going to be rather upset to find out that not only did she miss a meeting, she missed a second.)
((Ok guys and gals, just a quick update from me. Our laptop is still being fixed so right now I'm using the laptop of my parents, the one they use for work. Since the other one is still broken they've allowed me to use this one whenever they are not busy. This means that I should now be online regularly, but not as often as before. Add school starting in a few days to the equation and... well, you get the picture :P
@Pladypus and Remilia: both of you have broken Rule #12. A paragraph is AT LEAST 3 sentences of non-dialogue. You were slowly losing the amount of IC with each successive post so I decided to stop it right now before the thread starts getting spammed with one-liners.
Do try to put in more IC, a little creativity is really all it takes :)
@Tear: The applicants are for those who are applying for Renegade characters. Since you've already started your villain roleplaying then you may continue to do so. As for finding out about T.C.R. I was thinking that you would discover them through one of its members. Perhaps you could encounter one by chance, but whoever the member is, he wont give out their secrets. You will only notice the golden gear emblem. Further observation and research by Talbot may divulge its existence to him. Such as: the wreckage at Moorcroft, the strange arrival of constructs and a Gremlin at Haven, the unnatural presence of certain monsters in places where they shouldn't be (Rultaos and Hanaphs in Dark City), maybe even the constant adaptation of Knights to the threats posed by the Clockwork dwellers (the assistance of The Renegades).
It's really up to you. I'd like to hear your idea though :)
@Everyone else: I'm glad to see that this hasn't died yet :D. It's nice to see the support that this thread is getting, this Roleplay would really be nothing without the players who piece the story together with one another.
It's late at night for me so I can't put any IC right now, but I will write some up the next chance I get.))
U still accepting apps? o.O I dunno. heres my app, anyway, so if you are nobody beats me in posting ;P
Name: Toxi
Race: Gremlin
Gender: Male
Personality: He loves to salvage things and add them to his weapons or armor, and is constantly "borrowing" items to add to his arsenal. He is a bit of a joker and may unintentionally offend people, but when he does he is quick to apologize. He has a fear of the dark, because gremlins are particularly affected by shadowed weapons. He does not rush into a fight straight away and will never hit first in a battle.
Appearance: He wears gremlin mender robes, with patched on parts, as he likes to add things on often. It is studded with sun silver, shadow steel, and some scrap metal. The silver is to protect him from the steel, which absorbs shadows so they don't harm him.
Equipment: His axe, dubbed " ultra epic gremlin axe of doom " which, does not quite live up to its name. He made it by joining together the head of a thwacker's axe, and the handle of a mender's wand. He joined them by used a sticky jelly core, which has set as hard as diamond. It curiously has started growing a spike out of the core, and a crossbow, made from ironwood. It is very powerful, and so requires a long while to reload.
Skills: He is not a a good fighter, whether on the front line of the back of a fight, but prefers to stick to the back of fights, but he doesn't hesitate to get up close to help his friends if they are surrounded in the heat of the battle. He has a knack for repairing and making items.
Biography: He was a gremlin thwacker, but he didn't want to be. He was forced into that conscripted into the gremlin army at a younger age than most conscripts, due to a shortage in warriors. He made friends with the other thwackers though, and developed a liking for being a soldier.
The squad he was in were logging trees, for fires for the gremlin factories, when they were ambushed by knights. He hesitated to fight, and so his squad members were finished off before him. The knights were about to kill him when one spoke up "We need another renegade, guys. Do you reckon this guy would make a good one?" They did not kill him and they discussed the possibility of him joining the renegades. In the end, he agreed, but it wasn't like he had a real choice.
Additional facts: He is a bit of a chef and loves cooking snipe soup. He insists he did not kill the snipes.

i was going to but the hotels internet was faulty. Went to Bristol and somerset. Sorry for not saying as well. I'm going to post now, but i'll just say this. Knights aren't in the renegades so...that bio doesn't really work? But that's not my job, and the bio can't make that much difference to the posting. I'll start writing right now after posting this. Really, i just wanted to say i'm back :) Now, time to open word, will edit in what ever post i have to post. I would say what this will be about, but it would spoil it so au revoir! (yes, i'm partly french. Unrelated fact about me). Is there anyone who i can meet? I'm not really sure, because i'm stuck not knowing who to meet. I had something else to say but....Dang, what was it...))
((First, apologies to Ninza and Ebil for not having replied to your characters earlier- I'll get to that either this evening or tomorrow.
Second, @Toxicblade: Your app looks interesting (although we already have so many gremlins ...), but you'll need to tweak your bio a bit, as the Knights do not know (and cannot find out) about the Renegades. So you'll essentially need another reason for having joined.
Third, @Tear: Aside from the Snarp/Elias/Netlom group, most of the actual player characters are tied up in subtowns or in Haven. If you want to go the "meeting a Renegade" route to find out about them, you can either discuss with Plad/Treaman/Remilia about running into them, wander into the Wolver den where Mialii, Terarr and Co are currently occupied with a pack of rabid Wolvers, or request an NPC encounter.))
(Ok, now I know I promised to be more active and out up some IC, but some extra problem (with real life) popped up and I had to take care of them before I could get some computer time (the fact that I can only use this when my parents aren't working didn't help either :/). anyway, I'm just here to say a few things.
Regarding my broken laptop: Apparently the motherboard was damaged because the laptop was soft-touch and I was hitting the keyboard too much XP. Just in case you guys were wondering what was wrong. My family is planning to just buy a new desktop but i'm not sure when; they haven't told me much about it...
@Toxic: Yes, we are still accepting renegades, thanks for your interest :). However, you will have to change your app a bit. Like Tev said, the Knights don't know about the Renegades, and we could use a bit more variety since we already have 2 Gremlins.
@Tev and Za-ck: you guys got Skype? Cause our broken laptop was where Spiral Knights was installed and I obviously can't access it now. If you guys need to tell me something without putting it on the thread then Skype is the way we'll have to stay in contact. If you guys have it then I'll post my Skype name. If not then I'll have to ask you to make one if you plan on contacting me. This can also be done by any person participating in the Roleplay if they wish to contact me personally.
That's all for now. Hopefully I will have some IC coming soon. See you guys later :)
((I have an account but need to install it on my new computer. I'll do that today. EDIT: Done. Anyone from here can talk to me via Skype, too ... name is Tevokkia, same as here. Just let me know who you are if you're adding me as a contact. XD If any of you prefer Google Chat, it's tevokkia@gmail.com. Yup.
I'll also add some IC to this post today. EDIT: Here it is! I know it should have been earlier, but I fell asleep. >.>
And we already have three gremlins, actually (not counting Torx or Dagren or any other random npcs).))
Scharr
Scharr processed the question, choosing his answer carefully; although he wished to impart the necessary information to have the issue repaired, he did not want to get into a lengthy conversation with the gremlin at this time. He could give a more detailed account once he was ready to begin work.
"There is an override which takes effect in the presence of Knights or that which visually registers as Knights, and I cannot control my actions until the perceived Knights are eradicated," he answered after checking that Tickafir had caught up to him. They abrupbtly turned a corner into a wider hallway, his goal being a sizeable bay flanked by flashing red lights on the far end. "Further details can wait until we are in a position to act upon any information I give you."
The construct fell silent until they reached the huge roll-down door, the operation of which seemed to be controlled by a complicated panel.
Mialii and Co.
A bomb went off, and Mialii reflexively looked around for it's source, expecting knights or gremlins. She found only her own crew, however, several of the zombies reeling from the blast as they pushed themselves back off the elevator walls or picked themselves up off the ground. Perhaps it had been Terarr?
There were about nine wolvers now, although it was a bit difficult to tell exactly with the rabid things zipping about the way they did. A few of the zombies breathed a stunning mist at the attackers, while a few others jumped at them, but aside from two wolvers who happened to be unlucky enough to warp straight into an attack, the zombies were too slow to actually hit anything aside from the shrubbery. An exploding cube that had been nestled in the bushes went off, burning one of the wolvers and tossing two zombies just outside the damage radius to the side.
Everyone was spread out now, each of the zombies having finally shambled clear of the elevator, and Mialii mewed in surprise as she sent a small ecto blast at one rabid wolver that showed up directly in front of her. Blouri seemed to be holding his own; he had frozen two of the wolvers with lucky shots from his own ecto blasts, which the zombies were making short work of.
The Spookat nurse looked around for the two devilites, hoping they were doing alright as well, and spotted them on the other side of the small battlefield, pinned between the side of the elevator and a row of three explosive blocks as another rabid wolver bore down on them.
((I'd be happy to talk to you on Skype about the RP if that works for you.
My skype name is rkproton. Currently working on my next post, hopefully I can post soon.))
((My Skype name is |_azarus. Send me the friend requests and I'll add you as soon as I can :). I'm also working on my next IC and should be up very soon. If no one posts after me until then, I'll edit the IC into this post. But don't let that discourage any of you from posting XD.
For the RPer's feel free to contact me or the mods if you have something to say about the Roleplay. We're listening :)
Oh and for anyone else who sees this, do me a favor and don't randomly add me unless I know you XD. That's all for now.
EDIT: Man, I must be sleepy when I made this. It was supposed to be l_azarus with a small case "L" XP. Sorry if that confused anyone))
((Are there any remaining spots available? Possibly as an assistant, researcher or lesser role? This looks to be a true and involved roleplay, the likes of which I have rarely seen. Even if places are taken, I would ask that you allow me to partake of your wondrous creation))
((You're certainly welcome to submit an application! Please keep in mind that we're a bit overrun with gremlins at the moment, so another creature would probably be better.))
((You saying that reminds me of when we used to have too many Constructs. What happened to those two Gun Puppies?))
Hanaphs smiled when Rultaos came. "Hm? Who here would ever even consider joining?" he asked, not really expecting an answer. He followed the Trojan to the Charred Court. Ah, yes, the Sprites. He hoped to talk to one, even for a momment. Well, except for Thorn. He was a bit.... Uh, insane.
((Yayz, new page!
Oh noez, it's number 13!))
