((I'm still here, but I don't know how to contribute to the story. Maybe I'll come up with something on the next event. Creative block fuuuuuu))
The Clockwork Renegades <[Final goodbye? :(]>
Bettit shook her head again as Rultaos spoke to her, composing herself after the initial shock of seeing the new enemy. Her bomb was in her hands, ready to be primed: she could do this. She pulled her goggles down over her eyes, cranked the bomb's arming mechanism hard, aimed, and sent it rolling past the defending Trojan so that the explosion would not reach his back.
The little Demo glanced over at the greyed gremlin and the construct he brought with him as she dug another bomb out of her bag, hoping they were alright: she couldn't see well enough to determine much at this distance. She then turned her attention back to her work, arming the second bomb and sending it spinning a bit further than the first. She hoped to land it on the side of the other Trojan-looking ... thing, but wasn't entirely sure if her arm was up to the distance.
Beep ... beep ... beep .... BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
Wherever it ended up was obscured to her by the tower of flame that erupted from the first bomb with a satisfying blast that engulfed anything (or anyone) that was in it's path. Several seconds later, the second bomb went off in an equally satisfying ball of fire.
((Sorry guys, probably no art for the next couple days- going to be busy with non-art work and meeting a deadline on a large piece.))
((Okay Dyrus, short answer: every player character in Moorcroft except for Corpser and Subject 13.
Long answer: You were chasing Vakros, Q-77, and Subject 13 (who was carrying Kat), but the latter fell behind. Vakros and Q-77 made it into the area of the Manor in which Rultaos and Bettit were getting ready to fight with Corpser again. So right now, Corpser is trying to become your ally while Rultaos is charging the both of you, Bettit just blew up a pair of bombs in your general vicinity from her hiding place behind a vase or lamp or something, Vakros and Q-77 are being patched up by the Silkwing Rultaos brought with him (although Vakros looks ready to smack something with that wrench of his), and Subject 13 has yet to catch up and enter the room. Hope that de-confuses things a bit))
"((Not to be annoying, but that's 3rd Person from the perspective of one character, then 3rd from Kagozar, Outnuendo.))"
((I realized that soon after posting. My mistake.
Also, anyone fine with having their character explain to my character what's going on? When I left off, he had just arrived at moorcraft.))
"Ugh... Get off me!" Vakros couldn't stand the feeling of being healed by a Silkwing. "SERIOUSLY!" It was like getting tickled, but it was painful at the same time. Vakros was thinking about eating the little bugger, but knew that it would probably be needed later. "STOP!" It finally went over to Fridge. Vakros was happy that he had won the one sided augument, until he noticed that it had just left because he was healed. He looked up and saw that the Defilier was almost upon Rultaos, but had nearly stopped, an was talking to the light monster, who turned out to be a phantom. Vakros thought for a second, turned and saw that Fridge wasn't completely better yet (lucky thing with no tickle receptors) and decided to go around and attack from behind, and give the rest enough time to regroup. He hopped out of cover before Fridge could yell anything and sprinted as fast as his little legs could carry him.
((im guessing that because ctrl+f didnt find my profile or char name, i havent been kicked out yet. my internet receiver died and i had none for a week. i see you guys have been busy, lotta reading, and id like to catch up, but just in case i miss something, can some1 summarize whats happened since Bettit's dud bomb went off? where are we so i can plan what to write))
((Sorry for all the OOC without IC ... just want to make sure everyone is caught up.
@Outnuendo: If you came through the elevator, pretty much all of the player characters are in the middle of the fight. Fridge is currently being healed and Bettit is behind some cover, so they're your best bets. I don't mind Bettit giving your char a "this is what happened" glossover as long as you don't put words in her mouth. She wouldn't be able to give any info on the Defiler aside from "and then this guy showed up" though.
@Isisdelltion: Does Vakros realize he's running into two exploding bombs, or did he wait until after the explosions (or is he just confident in not being hurt by a gremlin bomb)?
@Treaman: After the dud bomb went off, we had a lull of our own for about 5 days. :P When we resumed, the Defiler had not only dug himself out of the rubble, but had gained some sort of shape-shifting ability and pretty much murdered the "extras" that were left behind when the rest of the Renegades retreated. At that point, Rultaos told the Phantom (Corpser), to shove off, which Corpser agreed to do but stated that he wanted to kill Knights and would attack if the Renegades got in his way. Before he could leave, Bettit asked if she was supposed to shove off too (Rultaos didn't address the Phantom with anything more specific than "hey, you"), which reminded Corpser that she was there and he had planned to attack her. He tried to attack, but couldn't bring the sword down because of a slough of changing emotions, left over from his pre-death days. Rultaos yelled at him to quit trying to murder poor scared little gremlins, and Bettit ran for the safety of being behind the Trojan. Corpser grumbled about it and hit the elevator, but remained hidden beneath the floor. About this time, the Manor Spirit pulled Vakros, Fridge, and Subject 13 out of the rubble, then went to pester Corpser for a few minutes. Not knowing the three (plus Kat) were free from the rubble, Rultaos told the Renegade extras to go back to base while he and a silkwing went to get their missing friends. Extras leave, Rultaos heads down to find Vakros, Fridge, 13 and Kat, but Corpser shows up to pick a fight when he's partway down. Bettit yells at Kozma to come pick up the unconscious Warden, and runs after Rultaos in case she can be of help. Vakros, Fridge, and 13 are running for their lives from the Defiler, but 13 (carrying Kat) trips and falls behind and Defiler blasts past them without stopping. Bettit hides behind something in the room that Rultaos is readying to battle Corpser in, but before the fight can start, Vakros and Fridge come running in, Defiler hot on their heels. That brings us to now: everyone's current positions are three posts above yours (minus Vakros, who has obviously since moved).))
((@Tevokkia: Vakros has no idea whats in store for him...))
Vakros was coming around the remainder of a wall, almost behind the Defilier, when he heard a loud high pitched BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. He kind of remembered what that sound would mean, but before he got the chance to dodge it, a tower of flame shot up nearby, scorching both him and his enemies. He continued, confident that the danger had passed... until he saw a second bomb, this one on his side of the Chimera. "Oh Tin..." He was flung back by the explosion, slamming his head against a table. But he wasn't done yet. He got up and staggered forward only to see the phantom turn to him, and smile a deathly grin.
((@Frostrex: I don't want to command Corpser to fight Vakros, so you decide whether he wants to go after Vakros or attack Rultaos.))
"gah, still no answers. it seems all this... space rendering?... has been taking me to the same place over and over. am i missing something? do i need some kind of key to find this void? and again... how can a void be alive? how could a void be a creature?..." a spark flares in his mind. "maybe its not a vacuum, void of life. maybe its a vacuum of knowledge or thought! IS THIS WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!" he screams out at the sword he stands before again. a loud scraping sound comes from the ground, growing closer with each passing second. he turns and runs, not knowing what to expect. the sword suddenly bursts from its earthen dais, leaving only a brilliantly shining hole in the ground. out of the whole flows a stream of rhythm and rhyme
Go to a place between dangers wake
Where knights rest before delving lower,
Putting more of there life further at stake
Using a dark piece to open the door
Bring with thee said evil piece
And delve yourself that way
Though your life soon may cease,
All others' rewards shall be great
"oh perfect, more of this hoopla to figure out. -.-* maybe ill go check out that meteor again." flash.
((ill see if you can figure out the riddle this time, though i dont think its that hard. considering Elias isnt a clockwork delver, only an engineer/weaponsmith, he probably isnt going to know about where the first stanza is. the last line is sorta what i think of the place, like a coming apocalypse kinda thing, though maybe not so extreme as that))
((oh hey, check this out, i found a picture that i think justifies a phantom's looks
http://www.tradecardsonline.com/img/cards/YuGiOh/293/big/LOD-006.jpg
just make it blue and fragment the sword, add blue to the cracks and "HI ELIAS"... yes, its a yugioh card, i play that... totally off topic XD but i thought it was striking))
((Well, I was not really expecting you guys to be in Moorcraft this long. There's not problem of course, just that I haven't been able to do anything for a long time. I might make an alternate account for the point of having a physically-capable character. Don't worry, it will be obvious.
Also, does anyone know where Za-Ck went?
Sorry for no actual stuff, but I am really busy and I will hopefully write a bio soon.
@Zack oh, ok.))
((Necroterra, I posted not too long ago on the previous page. Been busy as of late similar to you. Currently waiting/thinking about what to write next, since this RP has gotten really complicated with some characters having subplots and everything, and I am debating how to best make my character fit into all of this.))
((Ah, I kind of dug myself into a hole with this double post:
I tried to make a new account, but apparently you can only make 1 per computer so I will just use this account to write my other character (assuming the other mods dont shoot it down)))
Name: Scharr
Race: Retrode
Gender: Male
Personality: Generally ruthless, he has turned bitter at fighting for years against his will. Although he looks the archetype of a loner, he actually would have no problem working with a partner.
Appearance: Being of an earlier model, there are several distinct differences. First, his armor is much more streamlined and complete, devoid of any wooden limbs or body parts. He has two full arms with claws that are as sharp as any sword.
Equipment: He has his slashing attacks and an altered beam laser that can change effects, from stun to status to destroy to stealth, etc.
Skills: Pretty skilled at fighting, but is especially skilled at stealth and deception, waiting till a target is at its weakest till attacking.
Biography: One of the earliest Retrodes, he was originally designed as a prototype a for the Retrodes that would follow, but was deemed too cunning and hate filled to be feasible. He avoided being sent to the scrap heap by his Gremlin creators, but he could not change his programming; when the Knights arrived, he still had to fight them. He has been trailing the Clockwork Renegades for some time, hoping that their mission would provide a solution to his dilemma ((that is, he doesn't want to help the Gremlins kill the Knights, but he is forced to get rid of them))
Additional facts: He still has managed to hold on to the tiny hope that someone would be able to reprogram him to make him not serve the Gremlins, but only someone who worked on the original project could do the job ((not going to be Torx))
Flaws: ((More are to come as I think of them)) He has an uncontrollable killing rage whenever he sees a Knight, due to his programming. This has forced him into the deepest recesses of the Clockworks, where no one delves. Until now, that is.
Suggestions: Irrelevant at this point, as the RP is already constantly being improved.
Seal of the Rebellion: TCR
((@necro Elias and Bettit r both of engineering professions, and my char has the ability to seek things through the random materializations and visions during his recovery form. if u think its ok, we could further discuss an alternate route of reprogramming :D
remember how the test subject 13 bio said there was a socket for additional attachments.... engineering and tinkering, also Bettit and Elias.))
((yea, i agree with nerco about this taking especially long... im still "dead" XD))
((@Necro: Two things...
One, aren't there no remaining construct apps available? I'll just wait and see how the other mods think of it, but since Alanis is gone there would be an open spot. Two: Although Vakros is more of a doctor, he knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy that might help reprogram Scharr, but it probably won't work since that guy is a knight (Spiralstory refence). :) Also, I agree with the others, we have surpassed our welcome in Moorcraft a while ago... and I'm still waiting for Frost to make his move.))
((Trying to think of the best way to attack. Strategy!))
((I probably won't have time to post today or tomorrow.)
((Oh, good point, Isis, I hadn't thought of that at all... I will rewrite the bio if I the other mods think it should be changed))
((I have officially given up on trying to overcome writers block w/ my Fan-Fic, and so I'm just going to leave it as it is. Here is a summary if you don't feel like reading it:
*******SPOILER ALERT******* (not that there is much to spoil >_>)
So there was a race (humans) and they got lots of technology and became omniscient but the were dissatisfied with their perfect inactivity so they created three factions of Knights to fight in an event called The Games inside a maze which is the Clockworks in which the prize was a spaceship to an orbiting computer that stores the knowledge needed for the knights to become sentient, but the Games were evenly matched and eventually they destroyed a lot of stuff and the ship and now the ship needs a new pore source (the Core), but only one of the factions was left as it was: the Vogs became the creatures of the Clockworks, the Fallen the Void, and the Guardians the Knights as we know them today.
~Feints from lack of Oxygen~
Oh, and the Knights are sentient now. Yeah, so the whole point of The Games ended up happening anyway))
Torx stood up from his reading and decided to take a short walk around the camp. He pondered what he had discovered: he knew where the Knights had come from, and where the Void did, but how did that help him?
But he had discovered that the Void, the Creatures, and the Knights were much more related than he had though. Than anyone had thought, for that matter. Perhaps that meant that there was some way to turn the Knights against the Void in open combat; they could win with the help of the Renegades and all the manpower they could recruit, but the Void would never allow for that.
The more he planned, studied, thought, the more he realized it was futile. They could never defeat the void -- never. But they could put it somewhere that it would never escape...
Torx nearly collided with the Devilite workers scrambling about; he had wandered into the main command post without realizing it. Sidestepping and dodging, he wound his way up to where an important looking pit boss stood.
"Do you know how long it will be until the main force returns from Moorcraft?"
The pit boss replied with its usual mannerism of flipping through it's clipboard: "They should have arrived a good long time ago, do you want me to send a scout to check on their progress?"
"Yes, that would be adequate." The news was slightly troubling to Torx. Of course they would not simply walk in, but he hadn't expected them to be delayed this much. He could only hope that they were able to find their way back soon.
((A little bored on break at work (and finger typing on my Nook, of all things), so wanted to make a little reaction post that doesn't really affect anyone else or their impending actions. Also, I'd like to concur with the "let's get moving on" camp ... PvP has never been my favorite flavor.))
Bettit slapped her hand to her forehead, dragging it down her face to squint between her fingers at the grey-furred gremlin who had just run headlong into the path of her explosives ... what kind of gremlin didn't recognize the sound of a bomb about to detonate? She couldn't help being a bit miffed that with someone soft and explode-able in the way, it was probably a bad idea to throw any more.
The little gremlin readied another anyway, just in case, as she tried to see clearly through the smoke. Wait- was that a wrench wand he was carrying? Wasn't that a mender sort of thing? In her experience, menders weren't much for fighting ... but then again, her experience was primarily based on her Mitter's mender friend, and since that friend was blind, she probably wasn't the best person for Bettit to base the bulk of her impression of an entire profession on, now that she thought of it.
Or maybe... Bettit's brows furrowed. A lot had apparently happened before she even got here, so what if something awful had scrambled his head into making him think he was a thwacker? She was suddenly very worried for his safety, but then realized that she ought to be worried for all of their safety. What was that thing that had just shown up, anyway? Did it eat creatures and steal their bodies? Or would it bite them all and turn them into things like it (except maybe Rultaos, because she was pretty sure that biting stone or crystal wouldn't do much)? Or... she shook her head: her imagination had been running away with her, and she needed to be ready. Even though she was pretty confident that the Trojan could beat both of these guys. Well, sorta' confident, anyway.
((Hmmm. That turned sorta' long for 10 seconds in Bettit's head. Hopefully it made at least someone chucle a bit while we wait for the baddies to make a move. :) ))
While Corpser looked around, he saw a Gremlin Mender run up and try to hit him. Then a gigantic pillar of flame shot up, sorching his tainted armour. Then another blasting the Red Phantom through a wall. "Bettit," he growled, loud enough for everyone to hear, as he stepped back through the stone wall. "I WILL kill you this time." He had had trouble doing it before, but after the Gremlin had injured him, he would have no problems. He floated up and looked down... "Oh, yeah... The Gremlin Mender..." He went straight down, his sword pointing towards the floor, right on target with the Mender. Then Corpser realized something. The Mender's crystal. It was black/purple((Not sure of the colour))
Where are these FREAKING BOMBS coming from, was all that Vakros could think. I mean, he had some experience with the things, but he wasn't used to finding bomb right in his face. He was a doctor! But if he wasn't a Thwacker, than what was he doing in the middle of a battlefield? He had spent some time in dangerous situations before, but being faced by a Phantom? He didn't stand a chance. Of course only then did Vakros take the time to look for the Phantom. Once he found it, he had about a second to dodge, block, or get stabbed as the red menace flew down at him. He did a mixture of the first two, with maybe a bit of the third sprinkled in. He started jumping to one side, and put his wrench up at the same time. He knew that he couldn't fully block the move without getting hit somewhere, so he directed the blade to his foot. Pain shot through his leg as he blade struck home, and he cringed in pain. Then again, at least he was already cursed, so that wasn't a problem.
((Vakros's crystal is black, with glowing purple cracks. Tevokkia's picture does it justice. Also, does anyone know where Tallith/Litterbit went? Also, to answer Tevokkia below, I think of them being completely out of the way, and detached from The Defilier and Rultaos's fight.))
((Okay, guys, we need to keep in mind that these gremlin/phantom antics have either gotten in the way of (and therefore aborted) Rultaos' charge, gotten in the way of (and are about to be smashed into) by said charge, or have now moved out of the way of the impending fight between Rultaos and Defiler. The battle should probably be suspended for a little bit, since Azure-Orbit really can't do anything until Dyrus posts and I haven't seen Dyrus on the forums for the past few days. Even if you guys are out of the way now, because action in one area is probably going to impact action in an area a few yards away (and we don't want to get too far ahead in time, either).
Edit: Regarding below ... well, I suppose it's in Azure's hand now then. XD))
((I have to quit RPing for now for personal reason, one being the fact I live in Korea, the country whose students uses average 50 hours on studying. Defiler, however, cannot be deleted from RP because he plays pretty big role (at least in my opinion). So I give my control of Defiler to whoever wants it ((possibly Azure) . It has been fun playing RP with you, maybe I would return later when I get time.))
((@whoever get controls of Defiler. Good Luck! :D ))
((Well I suppose I'll take control of Defiler then. It was nice RPing with you Dyrus, but I respect your decision :) . I'm also wondering where Litterbit went, I'll probably remove him for now since he gave no reason for inactivity. Also, did everyone suddenly forget about Rultaos charging at the two of them BEFORE Vakros attacked. Well we've got too many posts already to change that, so I'll just adjust to the situation. If it's not clear, Rultaos charged while the Phantom spoke to Defiler.
Nice story on the origins by the way Necroterra. Now that Torx is back you can continue with him, but if you still want to use the Retrode then he is accepted as well. You can put both of them in the same post to save space, but make sure you separate their IC so we can understand which is doing which. Sorta like what I'm about to do.))
Rultaos
The cold mist of the manor rushed past him as he charged at his two adversaries. His head was down and behind the shield to avoid too much damage. But before he could even scrape his targets, a loud explosion made him stop as the sound echoed across the battleground. [Obviously the little Gremlin's work] Rultaos thought. Luckily he was far enough from the blast radius and felt only a sudden warmth as the bomb did its purpose.
When he stopped, he examined the scene. Vakros seemed to be hurt and just barely dodged a flying tackle from the crimson Phantom. The small gremlin was holding another bomb. The Defiler had been caught in the blast, but didn't seem to be affected much. Fridge was nowhere to be found. This battle was not going to end well.
"Everyone head for the elevator now! I'll keep these two dogs at bay." Rultaos commanded all of his men. The sooner they got out of here, the better.
He looked and saw The Defiler looking menacingly at him, preparing his grotesque body to attack. Likewise, he raised his shield and great sword. "Don't hold back" He said to his foe.
The Defiler
He had chased the band of Renegades through the stairs ascending to the upper floors of Moorcroft. He vaguely remembered a large figure stumble as he ran past it, but he was too full of rage to notice.
Right now he just wanted all of them dead.
He followed them into a room where he saw Rultaos backed against a wall by flashing light. He grinned maliciously when he he beheld the sight [Perfect. Perhaps I can use this strange light to my advantage] He thought. Before he could join the fray, the light shifted into a red Phantom and spoke to him "Defiler, I wish to join you in your quest!" The Phantom said. The Defiler was unsure as to how the Phantom knew who he was, then again he had caused great havoc in the Clockworks. The Defiler thought about it [I could easily beat all of them, but perhaps he can make my job easier. Yes, I will use him, and when he has outlived his purpose I can just throw him away, much like my "defiled" minions].
"Very well, you may assist me" The Defiler said, the Phantom flew off before either side could say anymore. Apparently the Phantom was lucky to have flown because The Defiler heard a ticking sound nearby.
It was a Gremlin bomb.
[Oh great Skylar-] Was all he could think of before the bomb exploded and had slightly rattled him. He had been rendered immobile by the explosion, but he had barely heard Rultaos' voice before the two rivals looked at each other, both preparing to fight. "Don't hold back" Rultaos said. "Gladly" The Defiler replied.
((Fight to be continued in next post XD))
Bettit barely had time to wonder how the phantom knew her name before the fight really got started. The phantom swooped, the mender blocked ... sort of ... and the little gremlin could tell that the mender was in trouble. There was going to be blood (more of it, anyway) if she didn't do something stupid, and do it fast. ... mostly so she wouldn't have time to talk herself out of it.
Somewhere in the back of her head as her plan was forming, she heard Rultaos order everyone to the elevator. That worked; running away was good.It gave her a clear goal and somewhere more specific to go than "cover." Now for the action part: she was about to do the most terrifying thing she had ever done on purpose in her entire life, and she wasn't even sure how much she could rely on a gremlin with a possible mind-addling head injury to cooperate.
Cranking the bomb to arm it as she darted from behind her cover, Bettit held onto it until she was almost on top of the two. "Phantom! Catch!" she shouted, tossing the armed explosive straight at him only seconds before it was set to detonate and hoping that he would be startled enough to actually catch the thing. Another step put her even with the mender, and she shouldered in under his arm on the side of his injured foot to help take the weight off of it.
"Go, go, go, go, go!" The plan was to catch the other gremlin without stopping, and she could only hope she had given them enough time for him to realize what she was trying to do and for them to get out of the way of the worst of the blast.
((sorry, I don't think I'll be able to continue with this. You can just remove Kagozar, as he hasn't interacted with anyone in the main story yet))
"Phantom! Catch!"
"What the he-" A disk-like object shot towards him. His first instinct was to put his hands up. "-ll." He examined it closely, then heard rapid ticking. "Oh, com-" Cut off once again. "No, not the ball! ANYTHING BUT THE BALL!!!" The blast threw him through the wall, landing him five rooms away. "I will kill that Gremlin... I swear I will make it a long, painful one, too..."
Hanaphs jumped onto the elevator as it went up for more people. Yep. He heard his que- a faint explotion, most likely from the Manor. Once he made it there, he gave a smile and wave to the awaiting monsters, then ran past them. He turned purple, fearing for the worst. Then he saw it; the ruined Manor, the phantom, Rultaos, a strange creature, and many other things. He wasn't exactly sure what to do, so he just stood there, watching closely.
((What to do, what to do...))
((nobody has picked up the strange pulsing blue orb in the smashed bookshelf that is Elias yet. figured id remind u of how i made my entrance, and that i already set up how i was going to join. post #110, page 3 if u wanna check, so maybe u can incorporate my crash into the story, or just find me in the retreat... maybe ill smash into Defiler for u Rultaos XD but thats up to u to decide. id also take special interest in any missions Rultaos sets me up to. Azure, ill let u control that part of Elias, as far as tasks for him to accomplish. after that... lets just say i can be pretty creative with only a little to go on. in fact, i thrive better in those kind of situations.))
((You're right Treaman, I totally forgot about that >.< . I'll try to do it if I can, but I'll give the chance to the other players (possibly Fridge or Hanaphs) if they want to as my character is busy at the moment. Sorry about overlooking that little detail))
((Perhaps Subject 13 could find it. Would that work, Treaman and Azure-Orbit? I'm a bit confused with Treaman's Page 3 Post though. The "2 days later" part hasn't happened yet? I'm confused with it.))
((Windsickle: I'm pretty sure that he got down there 2 days prior to current events, and now that I think of it, you're probably in the best position to find him right now, considering you're the only one on that floor of the Manor
Isisdelltion: Does Vakros want to react to current happenings, or would you rather I resolved the results of the explosion first?
Frostrex: Does Corpser have that spike thing on his head like most phantoms, or is it just the Azure helm? I'm hoping it's the latter, 'cause I can't figure out how to draw that spike coming out of the helm. XD EDIT: Also, thank you for loudly declaring your intention to kill Bettit- I was having trouble thinking of a reason why she wouldn't just be "that was weird, I'm going home" after the fight. XD))
((Nope. Oh, and Corpser knew her name from her conversation with Rultaos. I'm sure she said it.))
((Nope! The next attack took place too fast for her to really talk to him and she didn't get a chance to introduce herself. Magic Phantom psychic powers!))
((the 2 days later part would be me waking up after that amount of time, including being collected from moorcroft, taken back to the vault, and waking up. meaning by that time, we are no longer in moorcroft. my crash could either overlap these event (me crashing right in and thats how they find me) or just be my orb already sitting in a pile of books because it happened earlier. like i said, thats for the collector to decide... personally, i think itd be cool to indirectly help Rultaos by knocking Defiler unconscious with the massive impact))
((Since we're approaching the 4 day mark since the last in-character post, I'm just going to resolve this explosion a little bit so that hopefully some of the other people in the room will have an easier time with their next move, in case that was the issue. Frost made the boom a bit bigger than I had anticipated. XD))
No, Bettit had not, in fact, left them enough time to get much of anywhere before the bomb went off, and it was with very little surprise that she was thrown off her feet by the blast, which erupted in a plume of fire before radiating outward the approximate height of two gremlins before beginning to disperse. [Bigger boom than I expected,] she thought as she landed hard, the wave of heat fanning out far past the blast zone. [Wonder whether I pulled out the one with the red stripe or was just too heavy-handed with the brimstone?] The landing was followed by a painful tumble across the floor, where she tore one of the straps off of her pack and collected a host of hopefully minor injuries before landing in a crumpled heap. A few fragments of bomb casing and charred whatever rained down, and the smell of sulfur hung in the air.
"Owwwww ... " The little gremlin stayed where she was for a moment, taking stock. Her shoulder had been wrenched pretty badly landing off-balance sometime after her backpack strap had ripped, but was still usable, albeit painfully, and she had sustained more bumps, bruises, and floor burns than she cared to count. Those would actually probably hurt more tomorrow than they did now. The backpack itself had taken the brunt of the heat, but her ears felt scorched and it finally registered that her elbow was unusually warm. She reflexively smothered the smouldering patch against her jacket, making a mental note to find something as fire-resistant as the jacket itself to repair it with rather than the first scrap of fabric she had laying around.
The only real troubling hurt was the sharp pain in her head, which was probably responsible for her neck being warm and wet. Bettit gingerly reached back to touch the spot behind her ear, which seemed to have a small piece of the bomb casing in it and was bleeding profusely. She knew from experience as an accident-prone gremlinite that head wounds tended to do that and usually looked worse than they actually were, so she hoped that this were the case now. Still, the chunk of imbedded metal was distracting, and bleeding like crazy would be a major detriment before long.
Picking herself up off the floor, she pulled a rag out of a pocket and clamped it down on her head as she looked around. "You okay?" she shakily acquired of the grey-furred probable mender, who couldn't have landed too far away. The Phantom seemed to be gone: she assumed he was in his ball, but wasn't sure where it had gone. Rultaos and whatever that thing he was fighting were far enough away that they must not have felt much more than some residual heat, and the construct that had come in with the other gremlin was nowhere to be seen. He was probably still under cover. She had no idea what that was camped in the doorway between them and the elevator, but it wasn't attacking. Her hat lay a few steps away, a small flame crackling merrily on the bill. She stomped it out.
Several minutes had passed since Subject 13 had fallen into the rubble. It had since taken a fair amount of time to find its way through the crumble of Moorcraft having decided to follow the trail left behind by the Chimera. It was not sure at first where it should be headed as a retreat generally meant increasing the distance between itself and the enemy. Continuing in the direction that Q-77, the Gremlin, and the Chimera went would only shorten that distance. It eventually decided to walk after the Chimera as the Chimera seemed to have a better sense of direction than itself and seemed to know where the rest of the Clockworks Renegades were.
So Subject 13 began to walk amongst the piles of rock, decaying wood, purple flame, and pulsing blue light. Blue light? Subject 13 sensed an anomaly. After a moment's contemplation, it deviated slightly from the Chimera's trail and walked to a crumbled bookshelf glowing a soft blue. A small blue orb was found deep inside a crushed area of the bookshelf. Very little information regarding what it could be was found within Subject 13's memory banks though it did seem to resemble the dormant form of a Phantom. The Phantom-like orb must've just been one of the Manor's residents who had surprisingly stayed asleep despite the destruction of one of the larger parts of Moorcraft. Subject 13 decided to pick it up with an amount of difficulty in case some of the more senior members of the Clockworks Renegades would happen to be interested in this undocumented entity. After a few seconds, both the orb and the Kat were perfectly balanced atop the shoulders of Subject 13; they both felt and weighed roughly similar. Its thoughts were interrupted however as several explosions were heard, so it began to walk with haste towards the general direction of what must have been a confrontation.
Vakros moaned, and rolled over. Today wasn't turning out so well. You know, getting crushed, burned, sliced, and burned again = one REALLY ANGRY camper. He was really starting to hate bombs, any type of bomb, especially ones that break into tiny pieces that fly into your flesh. He looked down at his chest, the source of most his pain. There was a huge chunk of glow red metal sticking out. The edges of the cut were burned and it wasn't bleeing, but the pain told Vakros how bad of a wound it was. Years of medical practice kicked in, a he began working on himself. He ripped out the chunk, causing him to double over in searing agony. He then wrapped bandages over the bandages from before. At this rate, he'd be out of bandages within the hour.
He looked around him, trying to find the glowing red ball that had to be nearby. He looked at his foot. The bleeding had stopped, but it still hurt any time he even dared put weight on it. He questioned whether it would be ethical to toy with the ball if he found it. Of course the Phantom would have toyed with him, then killed him. Would throwing him into the Clockworks be all that bad? His thoughts were interrupted by a call. "You okay?"
"Yeah, sorta..." He got up, making sure he didn't let his foot touch the ground. He would end his search for now, but that Phantom would pay... eventually.
((To Tevokkia below, I edit out that part, I kinda blanked on the subject. Hopefully I mended it well enough (heh, bad Mender pun) and it won't be confusing.))
((Didn't Frostrex say that the ball went through a wall and ended up a few rooms away? EDIT: Yeah, it looks good, Isis. Also, short post 'cause I don't want to actually move anywhere without everyone else in the room. Is a little bit of conversation okay to post with this soon?))
Bettit walked over to the other gremlin, her good arm still clutching the bloodied rag to the back of her head, and shoved her goggles up off of her eyes- the lenses had been scuffed so that they were difficult to see through, and she didn't like wearing them while talking to people anyway. "Sorry I keep exploding you," she said meekly. At least she was close enough not to have to squint at him. The little gremlin regarded the mender's foot for an instant and offered her arm; it was the one she had messed up a bit, but the other was busy. "Do you want to lean on my shoulder so you don't have to hop so much?"
((Sorry if this took a while, been sorta busy))
The Defiler
Their battle was fierce, almost a continuation of their fight in the burning bookshelf. The Defiler bore much hatred to this Trojan, but he felt a small sense of contentment knowing that he had an enemy who was evenly matched with him.
The Trojan raised his sword and brought it smashing down, but The Defiler was quick enough with his snarbolax legs to sidestep out of the way. He morphs his jelly arm into a spiked ram and swings, but Rultaos easily deflects it with his almost-invulnerable shield (and tough stone armor). The Defiler considered using his construct arm, but Rultaos kept constantly close to him and made its use difficult, and so he had to rely on the jelly arm (since his gas would not affect Trojans).
Rultaos was getting weaker and more tired as the two titans dueled with a clear passion. The Defiler grinned when he noticed this; it would only be a matter of time before his foe fell [a shame really, I had hoped that he would've survived longer; a rival would certainly have been a small pleasure]. However this thought was immediately stripped from his mind when he felt a familiar urge.
He felt the power within his body beginning to overflow. If this continued, he would be consumed by his own strength.
[It couldn't have come at a worse time...] He thought bitterly. He wanted to finish this fight, but he wasn't willing to risk himself just to kill one enemy. He pulled away from the fight and flew with his Greaver wings. He would head back to Dark city, it would keep him safe from any bounty hunters that were out for his head. The Spiral Order would not forget his atrocities easily.
He took flight and left a cloud of Moorcroft smoke in his wake as he headed for his lair.
Rultaos
Rultaos was starting to lose stamina. The stress of the battle was starting to take a toll on his body and he had narrowly escaped several fatal attacks on his crystal [I'm going to need a miracle to survive this; bless me Almire].
The Defiler didn't seem to be getting any more tired, and his myriad of parts gave him skills that Rultaos had a hard time countering. It certainly seemed as if he was dancing with death at this point. But as luck would have it, a miracle did happen.
The Defiler suddenly stopped fighting with a look on his face that mixed surprise and anger. Before Rultaos could take advantage of the momentary distraction, The Defiler flew away and left Rultaos blinded for a few seconds by the heavy dust that was blown off. It took his mind a few seconds to register that the danger was gone for now. He turned and searched for the Phantom; nowhere in sight.
He saw Vakros wounded and was being tended to by the small, female Gremlin. He noticed Subject 13 standing in one of the door frames carrying Konjuring Kat and a strange blue orb. A Slag guard with whome Rultaos was unfamiliar with stood in between them and the elevator. Fridge and the Silkwing was still nowhere to be found.
"Everyone we have to get out of here now. Carry Vakros if you have to little one. Fridge if you can hear me head for the elevator" Rultaos then turned his attention to the Slag guard and said with his sword pointed in his direction "I do not know who you are, but if you seek conflict with The Renegades then I assure you that your life will end here. Now step aside" he said. It wasn't very friendly, but Rultaos wanted to get his troops out of there without further hindrance.
((Ok... I can work with that. I didn't know Phantoms, much less Phantom orbs, were pick-up-able.))
((I am always so busy... I really need to put a little more time into this roleplay, but I keep getting addicted to more games and what not. I have some breaks coming up so hopefully I can get back in the story a little bit.))

Scharr looked on from the shadows several hundred feet away at the battle raging between the Trojan and the strange, morphing beast. He had finally concluded that to confront the Renegades was his best bet; they seemed to align with his goals and also had at least a few gremlins with them. He activated the distance audio setting and caught the trojan's order:
"Everyone we have to get out of here now. Carry Vakros if you have to little one. Fridge if you can hear me head for the elevator"
It seems as if they have finally decided to leave... I will follow them to their base and contact the Trojan there.
Scharr activated his cloak and slipped back into the shadows, running to the Treasure Vault ahead of the Renegades.
Sorry for interrupting but can i put in a char? And how would i when the story is so far in?
((We do occasionally ahve people drop out so there should be room at the moment. Simply create a bio as the first post says, then find a creative way to enter the story. I can't help you unless I know the character, but if you need ideas just say so.))
((Also, remember the ((!!!!double parentheses!!!!)) ))
"I now, officially, HATE gRemlins more than when I was alive..." Corpser was a glowing ball of light, compressed so he could lick his wounds. And he would be easily distinguishable from the rest because he was crimson. Even though he was COMPLETELY invinsible, they probably would throw him off the edge of Moorcraft, and he would most likely end up in an eternity of falling. Or land on another world, most likely abandoned or inhabited but every living thing there would most likely hate dead things.
"I will rip that Gremlin's throat out. Or a slow, satisfying death. Yes, burn her, then rip her fingers and toes out. Later I will pluck the arms and legs from her body and sew up the gaps..." It would be the perfect death. For Corpser at least...
Hanaphs moved out of Rultaos's way as quickly as he could, turning a dark purple, a scared look on his face, afraid of the Trojan. He'd rather not be chopped into pieces by him. He wasn't supprised that Rultaos didn't reconize him, for he never recalled being aquainted with him. He did not speak, for he wasn't exactly sure what to say .
((Currently having issues with the internet and also quite busy at the moment. I also have a lot of the story to catch up on... I'll try to update soon
Also, for the future, when we do something, I want to organize this a bit better. This has ballooned exponentially, is disorganized, and we are all trying to cram our characters in the same place. I think for the future, Azure should assign a few of us each to separate missions or something, perhaps to just get out from each other's feet or something? I dunno, what do you guys think, cause I think this has gotten a bit out of hand.))
((I think it's mostly disorganized because since the Renegades set out for this particular mission, you've lost half of your players and gained as many more, so people are coming and going in strange ways rather than remaining as a cohesive group. While Azure certainly could split us up, I think as long as pretty much the same group that goes on a given mission comes back from said mission, it should be considerably less of a jumble.
That, and the game moves in a rather funny, stunted sort of way because we have people with different posting schedules ... some have real life obligations that take them away from the forums for perhaps days at a time, while others of us may work at home [or perhaps just have nothing better to do at some times of day] and want to post more often. So ... you get impatient people like me [for whom roleplays are serious business] running away with things and the busy people saying "hey wait- I need to catch up now." [Sorry, I'll try to be better about that].))
((Faronel, you can try heading down the elevator, or at least meet some of the characters in the Vault to get involved in the story. Everyone in the Vault haven't even met each other yet really))
Rultaos was still observing the blur of red and blue when he noticed the nearsighted Gremlin from before. She had entered the same room and seemed to be preparing another bomb. [If she's planning to help then I hope that this next one will be more useful than the first] He thought, remembering the less than satisfactory result of the bomb he witnessed.
However, before The Gremlin could prime the bomb, Fridge and Vakros suddenly burst through a doorway and stood near his position. [Good, now we might have a better chance] He thought, but the hope was immediately replaced by despair when he saw what had followed the duo. The Defiler was chasing after them.
[5 against 2 huh? I hope my skills wont fail me now] He thought as he sent a silent prayer to Almire for victory.
He noticed that the two of them were in bad shape and, quite possibly in no state to fight. "Fridge, Vakros, find cover quickly!" He commanded the two. He turned his attention to the Silkwing and said "Follow them and patch them up as fast as you can". The Silkwing nodded and began healing Fridge as the 3 of them moved to a safe location. He then turned his attention to the Gremlin.
"I'm going to need your help. Keep them disoriented and confused until my troops are ready!" He ordered the Female Gremlin. She wasn't a Renegade, but the 4 of them stood little chance against these 2 foes; they were going to need all the help they can get.
He saw the Phantom head straight for The Defiler and try to communicate with it. The perfect moment to attack them [It's now or never]
He ran at full speed towards the two enemies just as The Phantom turned to look at him. Unless he dodges out of the way quickly he was going to be caught in the attack. The Defiler on the other hand, would be more easily hit. The question was, how much would he be able to hurt either of them in this single charge.
