Yep, kinda funny how things happen XD Oh well, I think we're getting the message out just fine- Thread, zones, and Inco is letting all the havens know too
Edit: And that's when H15 showed up!

30 minutes left till it starts. Just throwin that out there.
I had planned on coming, but may or may not be able to make it; my little girl isn't feeling well today. If I do come, it will be to watch ... the costume I had contemplated wearing got messed up yesterday when I accidentally alchemized the wrong demo helm (I think a few of you may have seen the ridiculous-looking results), and I can't afford to accessorize a new hat at the moment. XD
I have to use a crappy computer, can't be there :P
Turkey staff, stop making yourself into a sandwich and get back over here.
Prelims are over! It was super hectic and I had to do it alone, but I got through it! Sorry to anyone that didn't get in :P
Haven 15 arcade is really crowded. My video card went up 10 degrees. I think I missed some parts of the contest, I was stuck in the wall on the right for a good 30 mins not knowing what the heck is going on ;P.
3 categories in and people are really starting to get it :) Thank you for the beautiful line Beautifuls!
Cute Winner: Spiero
Scary Winner: Modelp
As you may have noticed, Im absent. Theres a storm over here and my power went out for a bit. Then when it was back, my internet was down. So now Im using the neighbour's internet on my phone. My PC doesnt have WiFi, and my provider is the worst available so most likely won't be fixing it soon.
I believe Raphael has taken my place though, and I trust his judgement. Kinda sad to miss it though.
We've just started judging general which is by far the biggest category! The winners so far are:
Cute: Spireo
Scary: Modelp
Beautiful: Touchmyfrag
Badass: Zaderules
The cobalt/cyan dude with the deluxe vitakit and toupee on some jelly helm looks amazing. I forgot his name but I got a glimpse of him at pres, and was the only I managed to get in before the blackout.
@Land-Sneeze: Unkosung or something. Although the brown on the vitasuit isn't matched.
Can't make it, had to go to costco with my dad. :/ Wish I could make it, but good luck to those who are there! :D *is using phone*
Thanks for the name Mike. And I didnt get to analyse him, but he definitely caught my eyes.
Uncosung =3
I'll thank you for him Tersakoff. It means alot. And thanks for noticing Michaelb! =D
We conducted the finals in H13 to get away from the huge crowd! Here's the 3 final winners:
Grand Prize: Touchmyfrag http://i.imgur.com/PTsD7.png
Second Place: Spieron (only by .3 O.o) http://i.imgur.com/6zVBH.png
Thrid Place: Lou Cipher http://i.imgur.com/ipU4a.png
See my post on Spiral Meets Chanel for more of a commentary :) (Post isn't up yet, being elaborate XD I'll edit this when it is)
Aww. I regret missing it more now. A pimped out full set winning third place over others which were better and more creative?... vmv
Sad.
Here are the total results as well as the scores for the finalists!
Category Winners:
Cute: Spireo
Scary: Modelp
Beautiful: Touchmyfrag
Badass: Zaderules
General: Vexon (offline, disqualified for final)
Wildcard Finalists:
Kuzah (was offline, disqualified for final)
Prestopotato
Lou-Cipher
Jade-Rabbit
Grand Prize placings:
Third: Lou-Cipher (7)
Second: Spireo (8)
First: Touchmyfrag (8.3)
@Ters: Despite the accessory mash Lou's costume was actually really stunning in person. Zaderules won the badass category, but Lou was one of our wildcards. Later though, when the technicalities of the finalist's costumes really came into play, he lost points for the same things that got him into the finals!
I am honored to be considered as a wildcard finalist. I do apologize for not being able to stay till the end. Overall it was a great event and kudos to the team for all their efforts. Looking forward to the next one!

Dat line, folks.

Also this tumblr post of Red's.
It was super stressful to try and keep this organised, but for the most part I like to think it went well. Even though it looked incredibly chaotic. Would have been nice if spectators and participants alike had been a little bit more willing to actually do what we asked them to (or at least stayed quiet), but things happened orderly enough behind the scenes.
Kinda wish we could have been as thorough with the judging of -everyone- as we were with the finalists, but that would've been impossible with so many people.
Thanks to everyone who endured all 3-3.5 hours of that, though. Your patience, it was appreciated.
- Just an fyi, the line in Inco's post was the category General an we scored almost every single person there XD
- Another FYI, according to Inco's calculations we scored around 70 people. That's a lot of knights! Im pretty sure that we had over 100 total (or pretty darn close) people wanting to enter into the contest- only becoming seventy once we did the prelims!
- I think it was a great success. As Inco said, it was a very organized chaos. Not a "trainwreck" in the least, but the sheer numbers made communication from judges to contestants and spectators difficult.
Hugs to all that were patient and calm like we wanted you to be! We had a fun time judging you all :)
In Inco's first picture up there, if you look all the way to the left, you can see me there doing my job right, standing awkwardly.
So me winning the Badass category was a flaw? /frown
If Lou-Cipher had a better rating than me, you should've just let him won that category. I wouldn't mind if he won that category. I guess this is me being selfish or whatever, but I don't like to win a category when someone is clearly better than me. It's like tricking me I guess if you know what I mean. Other than that, congratulations to Lou-Cipher, Spireo and Touchmyfrag. If I'm misunderstanding something, tell me =o
It doesn't matter as much that you didn't make it into the finals, like part of the OP said that's too long 4 me 2 read through it and quote it exactly, fashion is in the eye of the beholder or something like that.
I knew it was a good idea not to participate. What a joke.
I am still very very disappointed with the judging. :(
The 2nd and 3rd places would've gotten a big pretty 1 from me.
Spireo had a heavy helm combined with a toasty one, and many colors were left out and didnt match, it doesnt look good.
Lou was just. a. set. with common accessories. I refuse to believe the other people were SO bad he had to win.
Im really really disappointed. :( I thought you knew more than that. But eh, the results do reflect the fashion blogs of SK...
/forever in the 5% people with complex taste
I will send you a message in-game later today when I am actually awake, unless Red or Inco post here before me or something =)
It also remains to be seen whether or not Hadn was actually judged. As per usual, he managed to pull off a great costume but it was overlooked because of its not-so-flashy colors(most likely >_>).
Here's Hadn's costume. I'll leave this for you to decide:
http://media.spiralknights.com/wiki-images/0/00/HadnCC.png
I believe that the oddly-colored vertical vents are mean to compliment the personal color with their lighter, colder color scheme.
Vexon, by the way, was wearing a Chaos Set with prismatic accessories such as a Halo and Valkyrie Wings with a light green personal color (maybe emerald?).
@Ters
I don't get why your hating on me so much, for one these are not Common accessories. Tail, Bando, Sideblade? Commons are Headslaps, Barrel Bellys, and everything else you can buy for 5k cr. Plus, Toastys are even harder to get.
Second I showed up randomly from joining on a buddy and ended up being in the finals for the 3rd Costume Contest in a Row, so I must be doin something right.
Everything matches, nothing clips, and to me it's a nice full costume.
ThanX to the other Judges, took awhile but it was cool.

The judging of the categories was biased towards how well people suited the category (which is why we picked wildcards out - people we found awesome but not quite category winning). What this roughly translates to, is that we think you were more badass than Lou, but on an overall score considering everything, we liked Lou's slightly better.
"What a joke."
Please clarify?
@Tersakoff,
I most certainly agree with your points (although not as harshly as to have wanted to give 1s out), but the averaged scores spoke for themselves. Not much to do about that.
@Michaelb,
Hadn was judged.
@Erryone
Please keep in mind that a contest like this is judged fairly subjectively and that due to the amount of participants we did not have time to do an indepth critique of every outfit among ourselves. If we assume the judging itself took three hours and we had 70 participants (we really did have more, but for math's sake), that's about 2.5 minutes of time spent evaluating each outfit. This is not a lot of time. And we did not even -have- that much time, given the time it sometimes took to find participants that moved around and the need for a few minutes between every category to calculate the scores and get the next category in line.
Scores were given out on the overall impressions of costumes until we hit the finals where we really debated the ones we'd left by then. Furthermore a few wildcard candidates outright disappeared, which was sad, but oh well.
TL;DR: There might have been technically better costumes out there, but the first hand impression of them did not dazzle all three of us sufficiently to make it through.
@Lou-Cipher: He means "common" as in generic, rich-guy, everyday, non-creative accessories that anyone could slap on if they had enough crowns or CE at their disposal.
@Red: I mean, were they judged competently or with much thought as to their CREATIVITY as opposed to the amount of CRYSTAL ENERGY that they spent in order to make the costume?
I liked how this event was in a public place though i got a bit of a headache trying to keep track of who was meowing.(also distracted by season 4 breaking bad on netflix) I liked the guild invite version better. Less chaos. At least i made it into the wildcards but i'll remember to wear mostly promo items next time.
/hug hadn its ok next time : c
"please clarify"
Full Infernal Guardian ? Full Winter Accessory Set ? Seriously ? Yes, that's totally original and not pay-to-win at all.
Could as well have picked a guy in full Skolver Suit. One can see better costumes just standing at the AH for a few hours.
Thus I come to the conclusion that this contest must have been a joke to troll people who actually put some effort in their costumes.
lol @ Michaelb
With that thinking, Every single accessory in the game is common.
The Term Common means Not Rare, Tons of them, Anyone can obtain them rich or poor.
And while I did sell ce from the DLC pack to get those prism Eyes<--Like im the only one, the rest of that stuff I worked to get and traded stuff from other games. Also each item I had, I was only able to find 1 of. That in itself makes them rare to me.
guess I'm not as Rich as the "Common" folk your refering to. lol
Lou's costume was good, but I don't feel it was deserving of third place. I saw much more creative costumes out there :/
But the contest was exciting, it was my first ever and I enjoyed standing and being judged for 2 hours ^_^
I still wish I had a Dusky Parrying Blade to complete my outfit :c But I hope you liked it anywayz

EDIT: Sorry for all the posts O.O Stupid internet connection >:(
Tersakoff laughs at Serell.
Lou, I meant common as in I'd expect anybody to put them on what you did. Sorry but your outfit is not a costume. Just a pimped out set. I can name several people off the bat that were way better. Serell, Mike, Hadn (yes his was a full set too BUT the accs he put showed creativity), Unconsung, Jade, Raph, Jak, etc. because they took two different pieces of equipment and matched them. You just mashed accs on a pre-made set and I have NO idea why did the judges gave you scores higher than 5. I have to agree with Mike, Serell and even Divisor, partly. The judging was, simply put, [horsefeathers] and I both regret not being there (couldnt give out some 1s) and am happy I missed it (nobody can say I took part in that).
Oh hold on, 3 judges? So Raph didn't judge?
Oh my god... /)_-
I just lost all respect in the fashion domain for the judges. Except Inco.
Sad to lose, but hopefully the judges did make the right decisions in their minds. Remember, fashion is subjective ;)
Scooby Doo ending.
I know.
By the way, Ters, that was for messing with me one time, however
I respect you. So no hard feelings. In fact, you have even helped me by giving me fashion advice about certain dragon wing costumes.
