I'm all for a more female approach to the characters. I'm male, but I think female (and I suppose male) players should be able to have their characters distinguished as female or male. I remember a thread like this happening already, where it was mentioned that male characters should have increased muscle mass while females a bit shorter and curvier. Nonetheless. This has my vote.
Ummm... I don't know how to say this without sounding perverted...
- What you're saying is, because we want our characters to look a bit more girly, we have no morals and contribute to a sex-driven society?
I'm asking why do you want to "look a bit more girly?" Because when people do things like this...
- (i don't fancy this thou, but i know most girls want dem sexiness)
...your sarcastic assumption would actually be true.
Eh, whatevs. Now that it's pointed out to me, I like how Three Rings allowed ambiguity. As long as choosing a gender flag is not mandatory, I can't complain. I am aware that many people think sex is terribly important to significant intellectual interaction with some one. I've been raised to know it by a name; "sexism."
Am I the only one thinking it's weird how the sex terms "male" and "female" are all over this thread but not the gender terms "man" and "woman," given that such deliberate differentiation for an online avatar is probably more a matter of the latter than the former? Any one? Spooky? The small, admittedly significantly non-random, slice of humanity I am exposed to gives me a frightful impression that "woman" is becoming a "bad word" of some sort. Very frightful.
I don't it's the words that matter here, as male and man are pretty much interchangeable. Sex refers to one's physical "goods" so to speak, while gender is the mental aspect of a person's sexuality.
Complicated sexual studies aside, some folks just want their character to appear a bit more feminine than others. The word "woman" is a bad word, when I use the word woman, I use it in context to a human. Spiral Knights are definitely not human, so I just say female.
What I meant by the relevant part of my last post is, I find gender more easily applicable to a sexless avatar than sex is, since they express our personalities (or probably rather personae) but not our means of replication and/or stirring the gene pool. That was beside what I _meant_ to ask about, though. I've just been getting a worrisome impression, not limited to this thread, and thought to see if I'm alone since it seemed natural to bring the topic up. What I meant by "bad word," and I apologise for being obtuse there, is that I've heard peops of both genders awkwardly stop sentences as if to search for a word, before saying "female" after saying "man" in the same conversation without such highly conspicuous behaviour.
I thought it ambiguous whether our characters are highly stylised humans or uncannily human-like nonhumans. In the latter case, they're presumably not Terran life either, so it strikes me as inappropriate to assume they have sexes at all, let alone that there are two "normal" ones (ignoring small minorities like humans' occasional Intersex conditions) that happen to be easy to map to ours by analogy.
I guess their humanoid characteristics could be explained by them being anthroids or any other flavour of "replicant," which could be sexless but with gender being common if they're patterned mentally after us.
Who have a problem with saying the word woman. I see where your point on gender comes into personification of the Knights. However, OP suggest a way to just make females stand out more with a more obvious feature added to armors, along with being more, well, womanly. I also like the Breast of Almire, catchy name. :)
WOMANIZER WOMANIZER WOMANIZER
OH OH YEAH
I am glad to hear that, and hope others report the same. I live in a place known for (deliberately unspecified) cultural trends associated with backwardness there, so I'll just chalk it up to that. I should probably have mentioned that, as well as that two peops I've noticed doing it are in my family, and I've been actually paying attention for years since noticing it, which makes me much more likely to notice and remember it.
I failed to see it in Kozma's armor until this thread pointed it out, and I'm firmly in the "would be a nice option but not really important" camp. As long as it's not something I'd be embarrassed about if showing the game to a prospective new player, I welcome whatever cosmetic stuff floats people's boats. So as to not discriminate against clowns and queer minorities, "male" and "female" accessories should be compatible. :D
Dear Alphappy,
I want my character to be more girly for the same reason that I dress girly instead of ambiguously IRL. I am going to assume that you also do not dress completely ambiguously IRL, and you have a reason besides wanting to appeal to the opposite sex for doing so. Whatever that reason is, how would you feel if I said to you, "My dear Alphappy, everyone in this world looks the same now. You can't have your muscles and ***** anymore, but if you want to look more manly, here, you may carry around a toolbox and wear work boots all day."? :(
How can anyone possibly say no to extra cuteness? *sad*
You damn terrorists.
PS: I wub u Ringo <3
+1 I want Cootiecakes to have girl parts in-game since irl she told me she has manly parts <69
Aww thanks Nj for the support <3
Also imma return the favor and fully support an XL Body Spray Usable idea for your personal use <3
It might fix the foul-reeking bag of fiend poop flagrance following your armpits across 18 Depths.
PS: Look at what happened to the party who followed you into the clockworks. One was lucky enough to survive and ended up in a hospital. -> http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/540672366584216727/E86E5A3F993838C8D...

Thuggy, ye described that Pooky/Cootiecakes is... UGH OH GOD PLEASE NO
I'M GOING TO -1 THIS THREAD BECAUSE OF THIS. TnT
I wanna clown nose accessory now, with a honking sound effect, and oversized shoes for my peg-legs. So, ordinary shoes. ...any shoes, I guess. Like Trojan Horseshoes!
Clop, clop, clop, clop, "oh, monsters!" CLOPCLOPCLOPCLOPCLOPpewpewCLOPCLOPCLOPCLOPCLOPpewpewCLOPCLOPCLOPCLOPCLOPpewpew!
Thunderbog has an idea!
Why don't we make clown monsters? ehehe
I'll be gladly to kill clowns. 8'DDD
Heh. One factorial is one... HONK! HONK!
Also, since you asked for upshuttery over there:
"Make new similiar thread, we hate them.
Nercomancing a existing, dead thread, we still hate them too."
If we were expected to have "signature" bars, I would fill mine with this quote.
I like how the "gender-ambiuous" option is the default, with no particularly sex- or gender-charged characteristics. With mixable and mismatchable options, we can also have charged and ambiguous "clown" options available. Now that I've thought about that, it makes me like bulky armor like Skelly for a sort of meta-ambiguity. Yay!
I'm not too sure on this. There are armors that sneakily incorporate it, but blatantly putting it into the game would definitely look perverted to most.
le frenchness agrees with this topic

Woot! Breast Plates! =D

What species of bees are the scariest?
BOO bees!
We should get cannons.
B*****s Love Cannons(free Cookie for who can get the reference).
Girl power!
Also, I'm tired of wearing my spiral culet and spiral tailed helm everywhere just so guys know I'm a girl. But even then I've had guys thinking I'm one of their "bros."
Volcanic Breastplates, forged in the fires of Barad Dûr, to be commisioned for the evil forces of Morgoth, and sold by THE INNOCENT HAVEN TREASURY! :D
There are some really funny comments especially from pookycakes, but getting back to the idea in the first place, yea i think its pretty good. I am myself a guy, but think this would be useful for females well, to look female. Also i think this might put a smile on some male GM's faces when they look at it. So keep rocking these great ideas Zorenjunsuinahato, coz they are rly good.
It looks cute on Kozma. Can we get her pack as an accessory while we're at it? lol
Uh, well, I wasn't sure what I would find... but Cootie sent me here, anyways, I guess I'd better support it like she said.
+1 <-- Whatever Cootie says...
I'm sure some girl GMs also feel just like us when they're around Kozma.
Think about it, OOO could even make their employees feel better and cuter <3
sounds good. but i dont think we need anymore accessories that could make us look masculine because we already kinda look maculine from the original armor look.
Can we arrange bomb bandoliers in a more horizontal position? Just look at it.

/Im going to hell for this
... very amusing to read through xD. Well I would want this but I guess OOO would never implement this because of the audience the game was focused on ._. Well if they would ever release it I know a few people who would need one xD.
...I don't think I would ever use this.
But what the hell, who cares.
+ 1 for breastplates. :B
I think the idea of something girls can wear to actually point out they're girls is a good idea, so...
Yes, I also think this should be done. It doesn't have to be tasteless, just something to help differentiate between the boys and the girls. Adding other accessories that allow this kind of thing would be nice too.
..That people would poke them XDDD Well, this isn't the main reason I would want to have it implemented (wow that sounds easily misunderstanding). It would make girls more able to show that they are.. well... girls xD
Going with Retequizzle on this one.
Only if it has tassles.
Of course not! We're doing this for everyone, for equality! And Equestria too!
Equality lol xD Because of this thread I really want it implemented now xD So many people who react to it so it should be quite "interesting" for them x3. Honestly keeping this thread alive really makes me feel like a perv ._. xD
+ 1 cause is very embarrassed to assume someone s a guy and i have seen some......disturbing happenings because of this misconception
also wierd people can be wierder YAY
Septims: Aww tell us moar about it, this could convince OOO to make our lil' Breasts of Almire...
OOO, look at all that support, you know what to do... Cootiecakes begs. Pleeeease?
someone: i'm bara! o.////.o
me: eeeeeeeee? (cute? o.o)
I need to roll on my bed for awhile.
