What music do you listen to?(Discussion)
@Sr-Gravity- Hold up, did you ever even read the title of this thread? It has a big "(Discussion)" in it! What, do I need to make it all caps? Discussing music and what we like about it is the whole point lol.
~
@Luguiru- Those are some great artists there. Where would we be without Johnny Cash? Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are amazing as well. I don't know if you've heard of My Chemical Romance or not, but they were heavily influenced by Iron Maiden and other bands like The Misfits. Dio is great also. Love the way you described Alice Cooper! =P Can't say I've heard a Voltaire song though, so I'll be sure to look them up.
here im sure youll like this song, lug
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDFEQyx7o4k
A lot of bands related to/pretending to be rock/metal descend from Priest, Maiden, or Sabbath (which was where Ozzy Osbourne and Dio came from before going solo). Queen is also pretty influential but I left them out because they sound more like soft rock to me. Voltaire started in the nineties unlike all those other names from around the sixties. Before the soccer mom epidemic.
Poked around a bit for that artist. They sound too machine reliant, repetitive, and generic for my taste. Pull up a song, listen to the same few seconds looping with the occasional orgasm sigh or whatever the liquids that noise is. Not a full orgasm, just a little one because of impotency from shooting up a few hundred too many times.
Ah, not quite sure who you were talking to (^), or what "artist" you talked about at the end was. Mind clarifying?
how is machine reliant even a bad thing (don't really know what you mean tho)? and generic, like the weeknd isn't one of the most original r&b acts in recent times, like even big r&b fans say it's "r&b for people who don't really like r&b." also on repetitive, i mean you don't have to have a song that changes up its beat like every 30 seconds for it to be good. you can have a beat/melody go on for the full length of the song if it's good and benefits the mood/environment/tone/whatever of the song. if you listened to more electronic or ambient stuff and understood it you'd know what i mean.
whatever not gonna keep arguing with a guy that listens to judas priest and thinks he's a complete badass, like c'mon "fires of hell" "wimpy love songs"? you sound like a 14 year old. this is what i hate about some metalheads, that whole hypermasculine aspect of mo-- man i completely lost my train of thought.
i like that you were actually discussing and seem to know a lot about the music that you like and all that, tho. keep that up.
This is startig to seem to me like too common of a general concensus question.....
My concern being; I don't listen to music..... Is.. is that even allowed O_ O ?
I have always been into physical instrument sound over computers and software since I would spend the rest of my evenings after dinner listening to the radio as a kid. My father was very liberal with what media I would digest. On long drives at night some shallow love song would come on and he would change it to Johnny Cash. Throughout my life I have formed my own opinions and ideologies of the world, moping love songs being one of the things which I dislike in the same way I would rather have rocky road ice cream over sherbert with sprinkles, chocolate syrup, and a bendy straw or a handful of ice cubes.
Going back for a few minutes I think I have a more specific answer. The tracks and lyrics give me a headache. The track sounds like it wants to go one flow but it suddenly twists to do fancy tricks so the current of sound is no longer fluid which I am very accustomed to hearing. In the lyrics I expect a story or construction of an idea but instead I hear self absorbance or something too shallow for my mind to piece together from all the obnoxious thumps which are apparently supposed to be the rhythm. What I am used to and whatever the liquids is going on there are different worlds and generations, they may as well be on different planets with completely different languages.
Judas Priest is not "hypermasculinity". That would be whatever the liquids Michael Bay did to Transformers in the past few years. Giant chunks of unorganized pieces flying around and shooting lasers everywhere. Hypermasculinity would also be a song about how important or 'big' something is without a realistic or relatable entity. For example, the Painkiller angel is about an abomination between a common human and metal, destroying that which oppresses humanity and continue this crusade in spite of his own anguish for all time. The world sees him as fast and powerful but to himself he is a slave to a duty which he can never disobey. Every time he screams he kills pain, but to scream he must suffer himself. Free to ride forever in an infinite prison.
I could verbally fight you over this but I would have to have a strong dislike for that band to care enough, which I do not have nor want to acquire. I would rather share discussions with what reasons people enjoy some bands over other and how music affects human mind and development.
Cheese grater, go back in the kitchen drawer.
@Diamond- Hmm, sure? Maybe you'll be influenced here to liking something. Go ahead! Ask one of us!
~
@Sr- Personally, I think some repetitive songs can be good. Particularly if they're "mood-setters". Ya know, ambient stuff. To chill with. As for your comments on Luguiru, "hyper-masculinity" is the wrong word. You have to be one with the genre to understand. Once you dive into that genre fully, it's like becoming one with a million others who listen to the same stuff. It's like watching a rock concert from above, and becoming one with the wave of jumping people. It's an entity.
~
@Lug- Different tastes, different people. Don't go all "suggestion-forum-mode" on people with different tastes though.
~
@Luguiru/Sr-Gravity- Yall are walking a fine line between discussing and arguing with each other, so cool down a bit...Please refrain from insulting each other and their musical tastes. I've said this before. And Sr, Keep. It. Clean.
the pitch changes in the weeknd's voice reflects the drug use in the song.
" In the lyrics I expect a story or construction of an idea but instead I hear self absorbance or something too shallow for my mind to piece together from all the obnoxious thumps which are apparently supposed to be the rhythm." goddamn that's one of the most pretentious things i've ever read. you sound like one of those kids in high school that uses a thesaurus whenever they write to sound all cultured and intellectual. get over yourself.
ahhh, anyway. anyone listen to any albums from this year? all i've heard from 2013 is My Bloody Valentine's "m b v" and Foxygen's "We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic".
"m b v" is really good, especially for an album that's been "in the making" for over 10 years. it's nowhere near as good or influential or whatever as Loveless was back then and the album sounds like it's still stuck in the 90's but it works. if Loveless was a 10/10 then this is like a 9/10.
Foxygen's album is another one that sounds like it's from a different decade. the band's lead singer sounds eerily similar to mick jagger, the melodies sound like a convergence of several sounds and ideas from 60s and 70s pop and psychedelic songs. but again this works really well, a really coherent, flowing album. very catchy and listenable.
"Yeah people still buy the Beats just because of that "b" painted on the side. It's all for the brand name." -Immortous
Yeah. There was actually some Chinese Beats (by Dr. Dre) rip-offs called "Noontec Zoro" (hehehe, get it? Solo with chinese acce- yea, you get it), and they proved to be a lot better than the Beats themselves. A review about them can be found here. They look just about the same, so you sort of actually get something worthwhile for your money.
"Anyhow, I've never been fluent in the language of headphones and whatnot. What are the benefits of open pads versus sealed ones? And why would buying open pads just to seal them even matter? Why not just buy sealed?" -Immortous
Well, the open pads generally gives better sound; the sound doesn't get muffled by isolation, for instance. Sealed pad headphones needs more delicate "tuning" to get the same kind of sound with the isolation around.
And yes, that's why I bought the Sennheiser Momentums (sealed pads) instead of getting some open pad Grados. They made my wallet cry though, which sealed does when you want to match the quality of some open pads...
When it comes to the Grados, as I mentioned, I would love to try modding some. The love of DIY, and the perfect headset to do some on.
And I might have ultimately saved some money and get something / make something that might be as good as the Senns, but that is a mighty strong "might". I'd rather just have some Grados on the side to fiddle with, without worrying about having to use some half-heartedly modded headphones all the time.
Sorry for the late answer. My mind has been in vacation mode.
"here im sure youll like this song, lug" -Sr-Gravity
I find it listenable. Which is more than what I can say about most R&B that I've heard. As I mentioned earlier, I generally distance myself from such music, and I rarely ever find anything I actually want to listen to within those grounds.
The song you linked reminds me a bit of Blue Sky Black Death though. They are further out on the trip-hop side, but I really enjoy their ambient sounding tunes early in the morning. Maybe repetetive, but still exactly what I feel like listening to.
"goddamn that's one of the most pretentious things i've ever read. you sound like one of those kids in high school that uses a thesaurus whenever they write to sound all cultured and intellectual. get over yourself." -Sr-Gravity
Easy now, we don't need a war of gasoline and torches here.
"/goes back in the drawer" -Diamondshreddie
Come back out and tell us if there are any genres you think you might like!
I don't listen to music, I always mute music on anything!
Is it healthy to listen music? I'm asking this because my doctor says that music will destroy my ears!
I listen to Bach, particularly the harpsichord concerti. My favorite is No. 1 in d minor. I also have been listening to H. Romberg's flute concerto of late.
It is healthy to listen to music, what good are ears for if not for the beautiful synchronization of sound waves blasting through the air. Music is a mix of science and fantasy to create pure beauty, that if you count out the horrible sounds.
All the big-time artists are awesome, but lyricless music are great too. There are also some not so big-time artists out there willing to share their passion.
heres a list of some i usually have on a playlist most are show and video game stuffs but here the stuff that i have more of
jpop/jrock:
t.m.revolution
astronauts (kamen rider fourze song)
RIDER CHIPS (they do most the kamen rider songs)
Kamen Rider GIRLS (same as one above)
Tetra Fang (kamen rider kiva band)
All Around Attack (AAA)
UVERworld
Gackt
jamProject
camino
rock/alternitive/random:
linkin park
weird al
TeamHeadkick (machinima director does remixed video game based songs favorite halo spartan style and the borderlands songs)
/creeps back out*
I do love the spiral knights soundtrack~
@Diamond- Aha, so you do like music! "EVERYONE, start showing off some similar music to Diamond here." I'm not fluent in the game-music world, so I'll leave it up to the others.
~
@Kamen- Yeaaaah Linkin Park! And Weird Al, nice. =P However, I don't believe I've heard of most of those artists, so I'll try and look one up when I have time. Any suggestions?
~
@Fleet- Music is very healthy! Just don't blow an eardrum turning it up too loud.
~
@Zaffy- I agree, you don't always need a voice to lead the music. Or sometimes you can have a voice, just with no lyrics! You mainly here that in movie soundtracks however.
~
@Michaelb- Ah, the first Classical die-hard of us yet. I don't know those particular concertos(concerti?), but sometimes I like to look up random Classical stuff by like, Bach and others, and just soak it in.
~
@Weedalot- That was an interesting article! Anyhow, now that you explained the difference, what headphones would you suggest to myself? =P
~
@Sr-Gravity- Seriously, you need to chill a bit lol.
~
@Everyone- Happy Easter yall!
This is embarassing;
Well, I think there's something you should know about me, and that's my slliiightly EXTREMELY slow mental processing speed.
It came to mind that I much enjoy classical music... heh.. And yeah, it takes me that long for me to remember something about MYSELF.
/Diamondshreddie is embarrased
D;
I personally like Electronic since it gives you something different then what's going on today, let's face it some if not a big part of the music industry has gone a bit downhill. And yes I fully agree, i'm tired of super corny love songs. Still into Indie/alternative though.
Some other artists too.
Steve Angello-Lights
Sebastian Ingrosso- Calling(lose my mind)

@Immortous
for jrock i would start with t.m. revolution some are anime soundtrack stuff like rounin kenshin (heart of the sword), gundam seed (meteor), others got some youtube music videos that are subbed (tv-nihon, there are couple others but tv-nihons ones are best translation i have seen) so i would watch those should not be hard to find most stuff. groups like tetra fang, kamen rider GIRLS, rider chips are kamen rider tv show songs or themes for characters (the singer from tetra fang was the actor for the main character in Kamen Rider Kiva) most videos are songs for the series. teamheadkick (will warn they do have some explicit lyrics but its mild to medium at most much) has a youtube channel they got bunch of music videos for the songs that they made.
"If anyone wants to recommend anything to me in the rare possibility you care what I think I can check it out. No generic sex-money-drugs-prostitutes, wimpy love songs, or guns-and-gangs stupidity. Unless someone made a song about gangs of prostitutes becoming hippies in the midst of a drug war. That would be spectacularly hilarious." -Luiguru
Sure, sure, let me have a go.
"Is it healthy to listen music? I'm asking this because my doctor says that music will destroy my ears!" -Fleet-Miss-Gun
Is that a serious question or... ?
"I listen to Bach, particularly the harpsichord concerti. My favorite is No. 1 in d minor. I also have been listening to H. Romberg's flute concerto of late." -Michaelb
O nice, someone who is into classical. Wondrous.
"That was an interesting article! Anyhow, now that you explained the difference, what headphones would you suggest to myself? =P" -Immortous
Hehe, forgot to mention it can also depend on what kind of music you listen to.
However, that Innerfidelity site has a "Wall Of Fame" page you should check out. At the bottom you should find the different types of headsets. I'd specifically recommend having a look at the "ear-pad sealed" section. They're usually decent in price, and has good sound.
I used to have a pair of AKG K81 DJ (actually a pair of AKG K518LE, but they're the same, the "DJ" version has longer cable and no fancy colours) that you can find on the "Wall Of Fame", and I know from experience that they are pretty durable and has good sound. Think it's a bit strong on the bass though, but they would probably be absolutely perfect for groups like The Glitch Mob, and alright for other kinds of music. They're very decent when it comes to price though, considering they're rated up with the 200$ headsets.
"Happy Easter yall!" -Immortous
Happy easter, yes!
"This is embarassing;

/Diamondshreddie is embarrased" -Diamondshreddie
Oh shush you. No need to be embarrassed.
Personally, I tend to like songs with a little punch and a little speed in them, normal old classical music is nice and all that, but not quite the thing I'm usually looking for (still have a fairly large library of classical).
So I found all these other things which were a sort of middle ground. A bit more modern if you ask me (not necessarily 100% classical, but can't hurt to try you know?). Like Sleep Dealer, Hungry Ghosts, Eluvium, Bonobo, Apocalyptica (Apocalyptica can get rather heavy too though).
Give any of them a try, you can't know exactly what you like if you never try new things. Hehehe.
sorry ill calm down and express my disapproval through passive-aggressiveness. hey lug, i respect your opinion but i don't really enjoy your music and i don't think your opinion of the music i enjoy is very fair or informed. also if you could make your writing a little more pleasant, thanks lol :) ;) <3~~~~
eh i could never get into classical. like i appreciate it for what it is and what it's importance in music history but a lot of it outside of beethoven/mozart and some haydn just sounds really samey to me. also a lot of classical music fans kinda turn me off from it, so pretentious.
I have noticed that I haven't posted in this forum for a while and though I should post a little something.
I didn't always know what kind of music I liked to listen to.I didn't know if I was a rocker, a classical music enthusiastic, a hard core gangster rapper, etc. I did finally found out one day that I liked rock music.Specially, alternative. But I also do like to listen to oldies, some rap(ok just eminem.Could someone link me to some other artist that they think is good so I can listen to more than just him? Gotta have some variety here.)some pop like micheal jackson and the beatles.I respect other types of music. Can even listen to them, save country, but I respect it.Thx to Luguiru, I am starting to like Voltaire so I have to thank him for that =) I am open to recommendations, so link me some stuff to listen to.I can listen from classical to heavy metal, so don't worry if I'll like it or not.The piece by Kevin Macleod was pretty good.Very happy and upbeat, I liked it a lot.Phyrnna's music is good as well.Only listened to the first on on the 2012 listen, but I make my way down the list.It would also be a good time to point out that I also like music that are in video games and anime(Kingdom Hearts has amazing music in there. One of my fav video game series.) As for anime, soul eater, black butler, and bleach have egg-cellent choices.I'll leave some of them here

@Hero-of-Cheese if you want to start listening to hip-hop google "best rap albums," every list will have:
Nas - Illmatic
Biggie - Ready to Die
Tupac - All Eyez on Me.
start with those. after that keep check out the rest of the albums listed on those Best Of lists and listen to those. most of the Best Of lists will probably have stuff from the 90s (like 36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, Straight Outta Compton, Amerikkka's Most Wanted, The Chronic, Cuban Linx, Miseducation of Lauryn Hill)
If you want to get into stuff from the 2000s listen to:
Kanye West (every album except 808s & Heartbreak, it was a good album but primarily r&b and synthpop; and autotune is not for everyone)
Jay-Z: Black Album, The Blueprint
50 Cent: Get Rich or Die Tryin'
Lil Wayne: Tha Carter II
Lupe Fiasco: Food & Liquor
Outkast: Speakerboxxx/The Love Below
really that was just a small sample, there's a ton of stuff.
if you want to get into more recent stuff (like 2 years ago till now) listen to anyone from the Black Hippy collective (Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy-Q, Jay Rock). Kendrick Lamar is considered overall the best one from the group, he released an album in '12--good kid mAAd city--which a lot of people regard as a modern classic. Ab-Soul fills the "conscious rapper" role, he's more introspective and talks about society n stuff; check out "Control System". ScHoolboy-Q is the gangster/aggressive one, he talks about having fun and partying and doing drugs (and he's a really good rapper too); check out "Habits and Contradictions" . Jay Rock doesn't really do anything lol.
that's just the more accessible stuff off the top of my head, there's tons more and then you can get into instrumental/non-rapping hip-hop (El-P, DJ Shadow) and weirder stuff (Death Grips). hip-hop is a big diverse genre with a lot of different sounds and ideas, so if you like or don't like a certain sound there's always more to check out.
p.s. everything listed here is good
p.p.s. don't be one of those people that complain about the death of "real hip-hop" and think that artists that talk about drugs and sex are automatically worse than those that talk about "da real issues." read this to know what im talking about
That's a lot of artist. Most of them, I don't even know.Thx for the music and the link to the reddit page.Gonna bookmark it now =D As for being a person who thinks that way, don't worry.I don't think that way.If they want to talk about drugs and sex that's fine with me.They want to talk about real life issues, that ok as well.I won't judge you.
@Gzilla- Isn't the Postal Service the lead singer from Death Cab For Cutie's side project? Or am I thinking of a different artist...
~
@Kamen- Haven't had a chance to look any of them up yet, but soon hopefully!
~
@Hero- Exactly! I enjoy many different genres, and what I don't enjoy I still respect. Everyone is different. Even though I listen to many genres, my roots are still in rock, as I grew up listening to rock. 80% of what I listen to is rock! Thus, I consider myself a rocker. Heck yeah.
~
@Lugee- How about this? Johnny Cash singing a "modern" rock song. There are alot of great modern artists out there, and alot of bad ones. You just have to know how to weed them out! Here's an artist I believe you might like, if you haven't heard of them before that is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq_cKfzfvYA
Yeah, it's a side project for him, but they're going back on tour :D. On a more serious note, Cash's cover of Hurt was really emotional, I hope he may R.I.P
I don't like music that has lyrics often, preferring the instrumental version and leaving me to my fantasies.
That being said, I enjoy Coldplay, Two Steps From Hell, Approaching Nirvana, and countless game OSTs.
The only thing I can't stand is meaningless sexual rap, screamo (Or very loud rock either), and shallow bubble-gum pop.
Don't suppose there's any Progressive Metal fans around?
Periphery, Animals as Leaders, Volumes, Between the Buried and Me, Haunted Shores, Born of Osiris etc?
Regardless, I'll listen to anything from Oren Lavie to Reel Big Fish to Hopsin, as long as it has some sort of musical specificity and isn't a generic 4/4 pop/disco tune with a blatant focus on production rather than syncopated melody, interesting chord progressions and conveying emotions in sound, then I'm open-minded enough to give it a listen.
@Gzilla- Very emotional cover. 10x better than the original. ;_;
~
@Draciusen- Two Steps From Hell has some amazing stuff. Have you heard "Protectors of the Earth" by them?
~
@Razorlined- Well, 30 Seconds To Mars had a little bit of prog-metal going on when they debuted, right? And I love 30stm lol. Dream Theater is another band that's great. And yes, I listen to anything that conveys emotion, and that I can really connect to.
@Razorlined, i think Porcupine Tree is the only prog metal i've ever listened to (if you don't count King Crimson) and i like them a whole lot. i listened to Fear of a Blank Planet and In Absentia and they were both very solid albums that i recommend if you haven't listened already.
"I don't like music that has lyrics often, preferring the instrumental version and leaving me to my fantasies.

I know that feel. I found that Mogwai is a good band that usually only do instrumentals, and damn good instrumentals at that.
"eh i could never get into classical. like i appreciate it for what it is and what it's importance in music history but a lot of it outside of beethoven/mozart and some haydn just sounds really samey to me. also a lot of classical music fans kinda turn me off from it, so pretentious." -Sr-Gravity

I agree, I'm really not into rap. The closest I get to it is maybe a little bit of Eminem and some Linkin Park. And Linkin Park isn't even rap actually. I just can't connect with it. Any of my friends who listen to it pretty much listen to it cause they think it's cool and all.
~<>~<>~<>~
"...so pretentious."-Sr-Gravity/Weedalot
I can understand why people don't like every genre for that reason. Every music fan can seem "pretentious". Classical lovers might seem aloof, rap lovers might seem like they think they're so cool or whatever, rockers might seem loud and rebellious, etc. That's where the respect part comes in.
@immortus, weedalot was mocking me : P
and by pretentious i mean like the way some classical music listeners think their music is more intellectually stimulating or something. but you know what, i really don't have a good understanding of the classical music culture so i retract everything i've said. and nah, hip hop people are some of the most unpretentious people i've met, at least in the circles i've been involved in.
i just found this album, it's really obscure i have no idea how i came across it, but it's surprisingly good for how unknown it is. reminds me a lot of M83's dead cities, red seas & lost ghosts (one of my favorite albums ever). here's a youtube of one song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ePaCcT1m5g
@Sr- Yep, I know he was lol. Anyhow, that album you linked is pretty good! Very small though. More of an EP, eh?
~
Well, I just happened to rediscover Lynard Skynard! Hadn't taken much interest in them until I heard this song.
@Immortus, yeah EP is what i meant.
@Luguiru, you might like gil-scott heron. he's like a soul/jazz johnny cash. his most recent release (before his death) is more hip-hop/electronic than his other stuff so you might not like it. 'Winter in America' and 'Pieces of a Man' are more old-fashioned (seeing as they were recorded in the 70s) and are very dark/depressing with themes about drug abuse and poverty and other social plights and black culture. altho most of his albums are like that. actually he's probably more like bob dylan.
EDIT:
Not sure what possessed me to type that all out...O_o
RE-EDIT:
Oh alright Weedy....if you insist!

Hahaha. Un-edit it, Immortous. That was hilarious.
Also, I guess we're all too busy with the raging firestorm that is consuming the forum at the moment. Light your freaking torches, I say.
@Weedy- Alright, it's been un-editted for ya! And yeah, all the hullabaloo in the GD is a bit depressing.....especially when it comes to Cyan...=(
@Kamen- Hah, finally looked up one of the songs, Gundam Seed "Meteor", and it reminded me alot of the SK theme!
~
@Nuntis- Not bad, not bad. Have you heard of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra? A friend of mine thinks they're awesome. They do instrumental metal stuff.
~
@Weedy- Oh, forgot to ask you, when you said the headphones depended on the music type, what would you say for rock? Or just all around?
~
@Anyone- Here are a couple awesome instrumentals. It's raining all day where I am, so it's sort of rainy day music.
Emancipator, "Nevergreen"
~
Here's a band I just discovered this past week as well. They're a mix of hardcore and pop-rock.
A Day To Remember
I listen to a bit of Macklemore, GnR, ACDC, Various Cruelties, and a lot of dubstep.
My favorite dubstep artist would have to be either Tristam or Obsidia.
"They're a mix of hardcore and pop-rock." immortus on: how to make any band seem instantly unlikable.
so i've been listening to a lot punk rock recently; descendents, stooges, the clash, metz, iceage. i really dig it. any punk fans want to recommend any specific albums or artists?
also, anyone looking forward to new releases this year? it's gonna be a good year in hip-hop i think. new kanye, killer mike's working with el-p again, new danny brown, nas, schoolboy. uuugh im gushing just writing this.
"immortus on: how to make any band seem instantly unlikable."-Sr-Gravity
Yeah, says the guy who listen to Kanye. And who the heck is "immortus"? Is that how you say my name with a mouth full of peanut butter?
~
"so i've been listening to a lot punk rock recently; descendents, stooges, the clash, metz, iceage. i really dig it. any punk fans want to recommend any specific albums or artists?"- Sr-Gravity
Do you want the "awkward-transition-from-classic-to-modern-punk"? Or the Punk of today. Like Rise Against, Green Day, etc.?
~
"also, anyone looking forward to new releases this year?"- Sr-Gravity
Skillet has a new album out June 25th, but I really haven't had much time to look into much else.
AC/DC - back in black, highway to hell, all the way! Also, nevergreen was a track to seems to make people remember all the good stuff they did in the past =) I also heard of the band A Day to Remember, and I gotta admit, I liked the song.
@Hero-
Yeah, look up AC/DC's "live at River Plate" concert. It's massive! Unfortunately I don't live in Argentina....=(
As for the Emancipator song, I agree. Most of Emancipator's stuff is like that. You can just get so lost in the music. So lost in those kind of thoughts. Same with this song.
And another good ADTR song is "Have Faith in Me". Just in case you wanted it. =P

100th Post! Thanks for making this thread successful yall! Can't get enough of the music myself!
Alright, Senior Gravity with your sombrero and mustache and whatever other racial stereotypes I forgot but someone will still find a way to be offended by. But if I go into my kind of detail for all of those names it would cause traffic in even my head, so instead here are the basics for only a few.
Johnny Cash is a classic. I know and understand why a lot of people hate country, since after the man in black left us the rusty old cowboys who would sing the nightmares of their lives were replaced with wimpy lovesick hamsters. No one wants to hear about some girl a guy in his twenties with some stubble on his cheeks saw smile at him when they could be riding through the skies in skeletal horses as the flames of hell chase after them.
Voltaire is similar to Johnny Cash, but instead of being defined as country or cabaret as he calls himself can be only defined as Voltaire. He does all kinds of crazy shenanigans. His songs have a wide variety of topics from necrophilia to sympathizing with Satan to riding a black unicorn down the side of an erupting volcano while drinking from a challis filled with the laughter of small children. The best part is sometimes you think by the sound the song is about one thing when the lyrics say otherwise.
Alice Cooper is another classic, the god of shock rock. Shock rock takes a subject which mommy and daddy would keep their precious little baby as far away from, then smashes its skull with a mallet so its brains explode all over the room. The subject, not the baby. The original idea for the band was to create a villain in the world of rock and roll since everyone wanted to be the hero, carrying the flag for others to follow. Because being evil is more fun.
Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are classic metal. Some people tried to show me some newer "metal" or whatever the liquids was going on but nothing has yet to suit my tastes like Priest and Maiden. Maiden is similar to Dio in that the vocals have a lot of full body power in them which you can hear (herp derp of course you can hear the vocals, it sounds like the vocalist is using their entire body to sing), but there have been a few more times than I would like to admit that a song felt uninteresting or disappointingly repetitive after listening to so much blood and sweat then immediately getting seconds. Bruce and Dio both have great voices but they usually do the same sound for most songs, and even if the sound around them is different the vocals can throw the whole train onto a different track or completely off. Priest on the other hand has an amazing vocal range and powerful sound, but when they went without Rob for a few albums they fell on their face. Older Priest had a more driving-for-fifty-hours-and-put-it-on-the-radio-esque sound but once their more metallic sound started rolling around it became more you-will-create-fifty-crashes-in-one-hour-if-you-listen-to-this-while-driving-but-be-completely-unharmed-while-the-world-around-you-explodes-into-the-fires-of-hell. Weird transition. And it kept getting more powerful with every album, steering away from something to pop in the jukebox when there are no customers in the diner to I have no idea what the liquids is going on but I am suddenly on a chrome motorcycle with giant circular saws for wheels burning through hell while it completely disintegrates into piles of ashes in my trail. Not as whimsical or top-hat-wearing as the unicorn on a volcano, but being an angel made of metal is better.
If anyone wants to recommend anything to me in the rare possibility you care what I think I can check it out. No generic sex-money-drugs-prostitutes, wimpy love songs, or guns-and-gangs stupidity. Unless someone made a song about gangs of prostitutes becoming hippies in the midst of a drug war. That would be spectacularly hilarious.
