Two Handed Weapons

Hi, I'm kinda new to the forums, so I don't know if this has been covered already; but wouldn't it be cool if the knights had two handed weapons?

My idea is to have two handed weapons that would have high flinch rate, high damage, and maybe a boost in the cool down of dash. I find this to be a dynamic twist to the game because it voids the use of the shield, hence the high flinch rate. I mean, don't you get tired of just attacking and receiving? It already sounds pretty lewd... However, with the addition of these two handed weapons, a Vanguard with strategies for all types of encounters can finally experience something new.

An example, more like an idea, of a two handed weapon would be a Shotgun! As to not avoid total overpowering, the Shotgun will require at least 3
bullets, out of the 6 or 8 bullets, hitting the target in order to make the enemy flinch. The shotgun will be a slow reloading but, very maneuverable weapon with a very close range and large spread. This will force knights to get up close and personal with their enemy as to increase the risk of making a mistake and getting damaged, so as to avoid overpowering the enemy. It will be a one-shot-reload type weapon, with the charge attack being a high recoil, massive knock back, flurry of 12 or 16 bullets.

For swords, I personally would like a double welded sword. It would have a cool down reduction for the dash function, however it will be a shorter dash. To be more clear, it will have a 3 second cool down, but only distancing 2 or 3 squares. As for the functions of the sword itself, I have two ideas. Develop a completely new weapon that is fixed with two blades in each hand and has a 6, rapid succession, combo with every other attack inducing a flinch to the enemy, with the draw back of having high knock back. Its damage, to give a basic idea of what it will be, will average about 200 each hit in the 5 star version, at stratum 6. The charge will be two lunging strikes, one lunge for each weapon, and a hammer like motion that will include the use of both swords hitting the ground to create a shock wave, that may or may not give a status effect -your decision- that will knock back enemies a certain number of squares back, according to the distance they are located from the epicenter of the attack, idk if this will be a crazy amount of programming, but i hope its not too hard.
My other idea for a double welded sword is actually very simple, have a trinket, or maybe a usable purchasable through the supply depot that will let you weld any two swords that you like. I mean wouldn't it be crazy to weld two Triglavs? or two Dread Venom Strikers? Or even a Triglav in one hand and a Dread Venom Striker in the other? That would be fun, however it might pose problems and will probably be a crazy programming puzzle.

These are just some ideas that I have, but I would rather not make it a lengthy post unless if the Developers think that this is a great idea.

Thank you for whoever took the time to read this lengthy post!

A Divine Avenger, Gran Faust, Sudaruska or Triglav can potentially kill enemies very quickly and/or make them flinch with just a touch. All you need is some damage boost (trinkets, wolver coats, BTS).

We don't need more power. Monsters aren't that strong. Dual/2-handed swords are simply overkill. Why use them when 1 is enough?

This idea has been suggested 10-15 times in the last 4 weeks alone. I recommend you take your ideas to a more developed, fleshed out thread like Autofire's or mine and make sure that your ideas aren't already covered.

I don't think so...

I know you're new on forums, but this suggestion has been posted at least 50times okay? Have you ever tought about:

>Polaris+Polaris/Supernova+Supernova (However) in LD??
or
>Blitz+Blitz in FSC? (Trojans, Lord Vanaduke)???

Imagine how UNBALANCED would be the game.. O__O

Yep

Lemme tell you something.

Ever heard of Google? Well, you just got a new friend. Just search up «Dual wielding» and I guarentee that at least 10 of em will pop up.

Also, the flaws that Scramineagle pointed out are pretty unavoidable. Dual blitzing wil wreck everything in the CW in pretty much one normal shot. Although it would be pretty cool, the factor of balancing will come into play here.

Double Sudaruska charge. I

Double Sudaruska charge. I can hardly even imagine how ridiculously OP that would be.

-2......For the eighteenth time.

Jeez, another dual wielding suggestion, that was ment to be 2 handed weapons? God, Whats with people suggesting that we have 2 weapons in exchange for our shield? Come on, this is probably the most suggested idea in Spiral knight forum history! Theres probably more of theses, than there are spray guns, or flamethrowers, or whatever simliar to thoses.

Oh, the irony.

@OP/Najenda:

Next time, try using google search.

Also read this guide, to help you post better suggestions in the future.

As for the content of your suggestion... Virtually all of it is covered on previous threads, but I will repeat some of the concerns. Dual wielding existing weapons is horrendously overpowered, and creating new dual-wielding-only weapons is more acceptable but it has already been discussed here. Two handed weapons that dal even more damage than current two-swing heavy swords would also be either overpowered or useless, and... If a knight can hold a Triglav in one hand with no problems, how big would a two handed sword be? :o
