That video... What the... That...Was the stupidest video I've ever seen. Billions of my brain cells immediately committed Seppuku.

As for Ndog calling you a kid... Very apt. You claimed you were 22 and that you were going to study at "Oxbridge". Strange, Oxbridge doesn't exist. Either way, you've lost every nanogram of respect that anyone on these forums ever had for you.

Yeah, how much would it take to get Eury to IP ban Cirno? Hmm... I'll pay a hefty sum.

=.= sigh, there must be something wrong with the link, I only intended it to play one bit.

Anyways,

No, I said I go there. Please don't change my words. Also I'm not studying there, as I've said multiple times.

Strange, Oxbridge doesn't exist.

Not unless you take in the factor of what i've just said.

Still doesn't exist, and don't try to change your words, which were "So cute~ that would be true, If I wasn't 22 and in Oxbridge (possibly going to Eaton soon... or however you say it's weird .-.)."

This quote makes it sound like you are going to a university, or at least a school, called "Oxbrige" . You said you were "in Oxbridge". Please. Do enlighten us with what you were going to say. Whatever you make up, you still can't get outta this one, Cirno.

impractical for people like me

I am a mass weapon crafter, i plan to have all weapons in the game because to me more weapons to try out makes the game more fun. This new system of the forge completely ruins crafting! As you know, to craft certain higher end weapons you need heat, but the new heating system takes too long! I cannot count how many of my weapons have failed at both 20%-70% (currently my Voltaic Tempest has failed 9 times). i know there is a selection for 100% but at higher levels of heat it cost way too much! I have many things I am crafting!

in honestly it would be something i can at least put up with (while still disliking it) if the heating cost less crystals and had a higher success rate, is that too much to ask!?

@Cirno

What the heck are you trying to say?

@Mezuka You are an idiot. Always, always craft at 100%. Not only is there a good chance of the weapon skipping levels, but also of obtaining a forge prize box. You don't have enough crystals? Farm them. You'll lose way more crystals in the long run by trying 20%-70%.

@Mezuka

Even if you increase the chance to 99%, you still have a chance to fail 9 times (or even more) . That's why you need to always craft at 100%. Yep it cost a bit higher but it is worth it.

I Like the Forge.

No more mist, and the addition of pets. And that can't balance out your forge complaints?

The forge is well worth the pain, due to the fact that we now have UNLIMITED PLAY. You could farm T1, 2, or 3 over and over again to get the crystals, and you still profit off of it with Crowns, Materials, and Minerals.

Heat crystals may be semi-useless due to the fact that they do something, that you could freely do before. But in reality, unlimited gameplay and having a dragon, angel, or shadow follow you around everywhere and do neat stuff, is WELL worth this.

Now, I am one of the few (VERY few) people who actually likes the forge. I like the forge because, it halts the advance of gameplay, and keeps people around longer. The point this brings is that, if you were to create an account before the update, all you'd have to do is speed through all the missions, move on to Shadow Lair's (optional), and then you'd hit endgame.

Some people forget that games were meant to have fun, and not just to complete and be done with. Unlimited gameplay, pets, AND the forge system help the game feel more like a game, rather than "I'll grind FSC 1 billion times to get this". Wherefore, it gives you more chances to explore all the levels in the arcade gates, and give you that feeling that this game really goes on forever, and that being F2P is now a highly more considerable option.

Using more crystals for guaranteed success is not required, but is a wiser option. This is why they give the player an option to do so; some players may just feel or be luckier than others. The prizes the other amount offer gives you anticipation for when you forge, to see if you get more than you desired. And giving you more than you desired is what the dev's did with this update.

Lighten up, and look at the bright side, rather than being a thorn in the devs' side by complaining about what you so eagerly awaited would come after several years.

Maso.

Ok, I've decided to share my

Ok, I've decided to share my personal opinion about Forge.

1. Personally Forge is total pain in the #%&@ in my case. At the moment I would need over 560 Radiant Crystals to level up ALL my 5* items that are already max heated and are waiting in the Forge. I have only 56 Radiant Crystals at the moment, so go figure. Not to mention several 4* items collecting dust in the Forge.

2. Apart from daily prestige mission I do only Arcade runs, just like before recent update. Yes, I'm one of those weird ones who always were sporting mostly Arcade while majority was endlessly grinding KoA. I totally don't understand what prevented players to play Arcade before recent update, just like me and others. It always was more fun then grinding the same levels over and over.

3. I'm playing on Elite only. Still it's not enough to cover my needs.

4. Removal of Mist doesn't mean I have UNLIMITED PLAY like many have stated (for example Gianor just above me). My daily playtime is limited by work, chores, duties, responsibilities, numerous other passions, hobbies etc. It never have been limited by Mist Energy. I have rarely used up all my Mist Energy limit (unless there was some event like Kataclysm). Before recent Update I could usually play through 6 levels a day, sometimes up to 10. Now it's exactly the same - I haven't lost my job, my friends haven't died, I still got other hobbies/passions - so I still can do up to 10 levels per day. No change for me.

5. I totally understand that introduction of suchlike system was necessary - I'm not saying it have to be removed. I totally see the point of it. I'm totally happy with the fact that there are people who can play whole day and have several thousands Radiant Crystals by now. Just please, accept the fact that in some cases Forge REALLY is terrible fun-breaker. And that people who don't love Forge may have their SENSIBLE reasons.

How is time my fault?

Yes, but this is not a matter of how much you can play per day, it's just that now SK let's you play unlimited levels now.

You can still farm crystals on your own time, but, if you really hate forging that much, then just get it over with.

I've found the forge is a

I've found the forge is a pain only for certain crystal levels and what tier you tend to play in. I've settled into doing one elite T3 run on average a day (sometimes I might do a mission, or a half tier or something too depending, but those typically don't really reward much in the way of fire crystals so not relevant as much to the forge).

It's really easy for me to level up 5* weapons because the second half of a tier gives better loot than the first half. (So I get billions of radiant shards from S6, and not quite so impressive an amount of shining shards from S5). It takes me much longer on average to level a 4* to 10, than a 5*- that said it's been faster than on the mist system for me. (Granted I haven't played every day in almost 2 years, but even when I did it still took a while to max out my first couple of 5*'s). Things got considerably faster once I started hording crystals for 100% forge, and I don't mean a little bit faster, I mean days faster.

I think the thing that has stopped me more (other than lack of shining crystals dropping for me) is actually crafting orbs, mainly because I want to try out new weapons, but I'm not really that interested in running T1 or T2 for low levels orbs (I have about 12 5* orbs, but that doesn't help with crafting 2/3/4* weapons).

I really don't think time is that much of a factor even for the casual player, I played an awful lot with this release and have slowly been settling into a more casual back play style again, and I'm honestly not feeling too bothered by the time it takes for me to heat my weapons (or my pet). But that's just me, it took me literally months to get a good number of my 5* gear fully heated in the past, so I'm not really mad that it might still take me a few weeks to do so now.

cirno: professor, oxbridge, and 22 don't go toghether in my logic. especially first and last.
also, now the game lets you go faster, but it doesn't mean you have to keep up. you can still play 100 mins like the mist allowed, and go on. you will be slower, but you will go on.

My Opinion (Deal with it)

As a veteran player (not quite a beta player, but close), I personally feel that the new patch and the forge update are not too bad. Sure you have to obtain crystals to get your gear to the next level, but you'll be doing many runs in Clockworks to get those. The patch as a whole has, in MY OPINION, brought many friends of mine together.

Before the patch, we would always farm FSC, simply because the crown output was higher, and that we had to use our mist energy wisely. Now that mist is gone, we freely join each other on runs and experience all those changes to Clockworks that OOO put in place between the first addition of Missions to now. Until this patch, I had never personally saw/fought/ran away from those scarab monsters. My friends and I always get a kick out of fighting those monsters now that we do Clockworks more.

This patch has done so much for the Arcade and bringing players together that you all should be able to overlook that minor forge liability.

Some data please?

I didn't read the entire thread, but there seems to be some unhealthy discussion intermixed with data going on here. Allow me to help organize things.

How many crystals are needed to have a 100% chance of leveling...
0*?
1*?
2*?
3*?
4*?
5*?

Which runs offer the most crystals of which types?
How many of each type of crystal do you usually acquire in each said run?

Once we have this data, we can factualize much of the speculation I've been seeing thus far.

But before we should even try to answer the bigger question of whether the Forge effectively and fairly replaces the mist system, we should first determine what exactly is the basis of our comparison. Should we compare approximate playing time needed to advance to the next star level? Mist energy served innumerable purposes, including energy-cost discounts, rage crafting, and elevator functions. The Forge does absolutely none of these things. The only thing it and mist energy had in common was advancement limitation. Mist limited advancement by limiting your playtime to about 10 elevators per day, modified by the amount of crystal energy you were willing to spend. The forge limits advancement by limiting the heat you could apply to a weapon via fire crystals, collectible only by Clockworks runs or CE expenditures.

Time, then, seems to be the common measurement factor between them.

Does the Forge effectively and fairly limit advancement time, compared to the mist system? Why or why not?

How could Cirno be a professor? Her grammar is atrocious, she uses memes, and she can't be teaching people at Oxbridge simply because it doesn't exist. Also, the maturity of Cirno's posts just doesn't add up to 22.

Thx Merethif

So assuming you get 10 of the requisite crystals per run, as Cirno says, it'll take you anywhere between 20 to 100 runs to level one item. That's not much slower that we used to do it. It always took me more than a full mist tank (or two) of FSC running to level a single 5* item.

So what seems to be the trouble?

Shut up. Please. If you are in college then why are you playing Spiral Knights? You should be studying! And if you think shouting at me "don't get into my buisness, stalker" will solve everything inside your pink castles filled with cakes and unicorns, you are wrong. You said that you are 22 years old and gave away your location. Congratulations! You just gave me your credit card number! Now I can give up on being F2P and buy millions of CE and Triple-UV tickets and invent a way to make video games become real. Guess what? There is a Skolver Clone after you right now! Maybe you forge complainers should stop complaining so the LD clone doesn't get you.

And if you run out of crystals, do EFSC, please. If you don't have time for EFSC, then you don't have time for Spiral Knights. You all may as well vendor your stuff and mail your crowns to me and leave. Just leave. I have been around for over 20 months in case calling me a noob satisfies you, and I bought OCH and Sonic CD with CE, reached Vanguard Rank, and acquired a full EFSC loadout prepatch, and I have yet to spend a cent on this game. Not to mention my 600+ hours of play time. "Your shinies are always appreciated."

Oh, and we know that you already are controlling several alts and changing you name and profile pic.
