Damage number colours: The question nobody cares about the answer for

Ever used a rocket hammer charge against a weak enemy? The damage numbers aren't yellow like they're supposed to be.

If I recall correctly, this happened in a patch shortly after lost souls got introduced to avoid lost souls making huge damage numbers all the time. I went into Tier 3 Guild Training Hall to find out what the limit was. We found out this:

468 damage shows yellow numbers.
473 damage shows white.

Since T3 bags have 61 defence, the limit for yellow numbers become somewhere around the defence being 11.5% of the total damage inflicted.

Alchemy Machine Template

So I noticed that the coding/templates used in the (mysterious) alchemy machine lists are a mess (leftovers from the Krog machine I assume) - I've played in the sandbox a bit. What do you fellas think?

There's some minor issues with non-equip icons showing up, like the Fiendish ID card (a material, not an equipment). Will look into it later if people like this table in general.

If someone knows how to code a proper switch, and you like the table, go ahead and fix it. The "Blah!" edit on the template is when I gave up on the switch, in order to just see how the table basically feels.

Damage colorazation: What's a good set to use?

Submitted by Glacies on Thu, 07/17/2014 - 21:19

I keep running into a problem of what colors to use for the colorization table of Damages. The biggest problem I see is often, the colors are slightly off if not completely different.

So I have to ask, what base colors would be good for damage?

I was thinking something along the lines of:

*Effective: Gold (#FFFF00)
*Neutral: Light Cyan (#E0FFFF)
*Resist: Gray (#808080)

Along the lines of listing the damages by top to bottom (Effective to Resistant)

Any opinions on this?

Forum FAQ article?

Submitted by Bopp on Sat, 07/12/2014 - 16:47

On these forums we keep answering the same questions over and over again. That's why I created my sword guide, and tried to create other guides. So I propose that we create a Forum FAQ wiki article with answers to these questions. (It can't just be called FAQ, because that already exists.) For each question, the FAQ would give an answer distilled from various sources, and a Google search link for relevant threads.

Over-bulleting

I've started going through wiki articles, changing "Trivia" sections to "Notes" sections with historical notes, allusions to stuff outside the game, etc. In many cases, editors have made bulleted lists, which I hope to systematically remove. Bullets add visual clutter, while not improving organization over simple paragraphs. But Glacies has restored the bulleted list to at least one article. So maybe we should have a discussion here, about what our house style should be.

grinchlin assault wheel launchers

I don't even know if they can be killed or not, but does anyone have a screenshot of one? Because I don't. Shouldn't they be added into the wheel launcher section? they even are mentioned in the Trivia section, but not in the Types section.

There is currently an article "List of References", for tracking stuff such as the fact that Callahan references the Dirty Harry movies. But individual pages of items/monsters/locations also frequently mention these references.

So we're storing the same information in two places. This is inefficient and error-prone. We should standardize on one place: either List of References, or each individual item page, but not both.

Guild Hall: Furniture

I'm endeavoring to improve the Guild Hall furniture section as well. As with costumes, a lot of stuff missing. Check out the Sandbox - goal is to shrink lists on the main page as much as possible, and make it like the rest of the wiki as much as possible (same forms, different colors = COMPRESS! SQUISH!)

Status effects - missing a few, should list positives as well

The main ones in question are death mark and recon mark. I've noticed nowhere really seems to talk about these status effects or what they do. I'm not even 100% certain myself. Having said that, they're mentioned in the lockdown and ghostmane stalker articles at least, and I know they're caused by both the ghostmane stalkers and the rangers summoned via signal flare. If someone could hash out exactly what these do and add them to the status effects page, that'd be extremely helpful. There may be others missing as well, such as the swarm infection debuff.

Anyone up to placing in new bosses in the Boss page?

Yesterday, the game got an update and a few Rank missions have been changed to apply some new minibosses there, and I'm sure that those of you who have been through these missions might want to go play through them again to gather info on them. Thought I would spread the word about it and thought that it would be nice of you Wiki Knights to update the page to accommodate the new minibosses... when you're ready.
