SPIRAL SPY SCENES (Un-Update (You read that right) Aug. 28)

===========================================================================
A VERY VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR SERIOUS SPIRAL SPY USERS
New updates of Spiral Knights have rendered a lot of model textures incompatible with Spiral Spy, I have a temporary solution and am working on a more permanent one right now, get the temporary one to fix model walls here:
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/31275?page=5#comment-619070
I'm currently in the process of setting up a webpage to showcase both mines and others Spiral Spy fan work, and to help others in the usage of the Spiral Spy program, it's not much at the moment but that should change with time.
My rapidly growing but still rather empty tumblr page
===========================================================================
The Works of Happyapathy, "The Lone Gunner"
First of all some personal info, my IGN is Happyapathy, I'm an unapologetic gunner with far too many guns, and I am forever guild-less, why? BECAUSE I CAN. All sending me a guild offer does is tell me that a person doesn't know me or what I do. Despite this I am very well connected (most well connected non-guildy in SK :D) and am quite easy to friend unless you behave like a complete jerk or send me a friend request without even saying hi at least. So there you go...
----------------------------------------------------------
You may be aware that a while ago a program called "Spiral Spy" was posted by Spiral-Spy as a way for people to preview gear/accessories before they actually got it, the thing also shows a lot of unseen content but your not allowed to talk about that on the forum (if you encounter me in game you ask ;) ).
Spiral Spy 1.2 - Read up on and download Spiral Spy v1.2 here
Spiral-Spy's Blog - Feed Spiral Spy's ego here on his blog, he deserves it
Spiral Snipes - Put here cause I don't like having to always dig around the forum for this
Anyways some people experimented around and found that it could be used to create convincing game-like scenes, I decided to give a serious shot at it and REALLY got into it. The program is a v1.2, which means it is VERY VERY easy to crash so it took about a dozen crashes and then some before I started to figure things out.
I actually found out there is A LOT you can do given a bit of time and some basic knowledge of 3D graph plotting. I could probably come up with some pretty fantastic scenes in the future, and I sure hope Spiral-Spy is still around cause there is a lot of potential in what he made, more so then just as a preview tool for accessories. I would love to see what a future, less crashable, version would be like :)
Just so you know, working with this program is like building sand castles cause the only way you can create a new scene is by deleting everything from the previous one, so all your work is eventually destroyed much like how the rising ocean tide will sweep away creations made in sand, so if your wondering why it seems I went overboard on screenshot its because I can NEVER recreate these scenes again as they were. Believe me I've tried all sorts of wacky ways to save work and so far I haven't found one that works.
----------------------------------------------------------
The guide here is REALLY badly outdated, to be honest you would probably learn more by reading through my thread here then from it, its a good place to get started still. Spiral Spy has a pretty steep learning curve to get to a point where you fully understand it and making scenes does become tedious at times but I find it worth it.
----------------------------------------------------------
To people who want to request a scene:
It turns out I'm REALLY BAD at doing requests as I tend to put them off in favor of my own personal projects, as such I apologize to anyone who requested something and has still yet to see it made, but I'm not promising I'll be doing them anytime soon. While I'm not saying I won't take requests or suggestions, if you want to have a particular scene made you are likely to have more success asking someone else as I'm a rather fickle artist who likes to work on what I want to versus what people ask for.
----------------------------------------------------------EpicFail: SK Funnies
Working on a slightly different vein of scenes to create comic like sequences:
----------------------------------------------------------Embrace the Dark
An ongoing FanComic I'm working on that is becoming a huge long term project for both me and others.

I really like the way this one came out, took just over an hour to make, you don't realize how fat those snipes are until you try to place one on your shoulder, THEIR HUGE! If anyone wants a scene like this of them ask me and I'll look into it.
----------------------------------------------------------
This scene is dedicated to Chezi, Casun, and Crazybitz, who took me on my first ever shadow lair run and brought me back up alive on the other side, may they force every member from their respective guilds to come look at this so they may gloat about it :P (P.S. Yes Chezi, wolver tail accessories really do exist).
On a note about the making of the scene itself, this thing, in my opinion, is a master piece of Spiral Spy work, a lot went into making this particular scene with so many characters each with their own unique animation setup requiring multiple copies of model files to make it work, also the work with the lighting (or more like the lack of lighting) and ambient effects is something I really pushed here, a lot of what I know went into getting this scene to work, a pity since the second I close Spiral Spy all the animation settings get wiped and everyone goes back to idly staring stupidly into the distance :/
The scene is based on actual gear that was worn at the time, I'm sorry to you guys if you would have rather worn something else if you knew I was going to make this into an art piece :D
The best title I could think of for this was the one word that got repeated a lot in the Unknown Passage...

This shot from behind really makes me regret not adding the exit elevator ahead of us, I wasn't intending to look at it from this angle but it looked good enough that I screenshot it anyways:
I'm going to post the scene file for Spiral Spy here so people can upload it and maybe get an idea of what I did, although chances are Spiral Spy will explode if you try to use it as I used a number of custom files to make this thing work, plus all the animation work will be lost and everything will be reset to idle even if it does work:

This one here is the result of some experimentation with animation priority to try and create new poses by having one animation "override" another one, I sadly was unable to create the desired two-handed "dragon slayer" pose as there aren't that many motions which bring both hands together, the closest thing I could find was the clap emote which proved to be utterly useless.
The pose I use here is an odd combination of the 'fall recovery' and 'charged pistol hold' animation for the knight.

This scene here was created with the modest purpose of saying, "hey, look I managed to put in gun each hand", then I decided to add bullets, then bullet shells, modesty was blown out the window when I decided to put the (still) nameless snipe in and was dead before it hit the ground when I decided to give my snipe the second kid-sized Blitz gun.

====ALL ABOUT NEKOMI====
I'm hoping there are more then a few people who are wondering how I made her well not to worry. Though I probably don't have the capabilities to copyright characters I'm going to go and ahead and declare Nekomi an open source character:
DOWNLOAD THE KAT LADY (kit pieces, some assembly required)
DOWNLOAD THE KAT LADY (fully assembled and optimized)
These folders are what I call "Character Sets/Profiles", each folder contains all the necessary files and instructions to recreate a character, in here you will find my own character as a basic guideline and Nekomi's more complex instructions including recoloring and attachments , they also contain a folder for her possible pet Kleptolisk 'Kleft'. All files can be used directly from the folder in Spiral Spy without been moved or renamed, just put the Character_sets folder in the rsrc folder.
I have a similar folder for other characters, such as Eve, but I think I will be keeping those for myself right now.
-----------------
So what do I think of Nekomi? Well as I've said I intend for her to be a stealthy thief type, beyond that personality has not really been established.
A note about those claws, they have an interesting unintentional safety feature that they will rise and lower depending on if her hands are opened or fisted, this would allow free hand movement without having to worry about cutting herself so much:
I also imagined that if she ever appeared in game she would be able to launch rapid 3 way mini-spur shots from each claw :P
Despite the hand claws, shes actually still able to wield the traditional sword/gun and shield:
However if you ask me she doesn't look like the type to hide behind a shield for defense, I'd like to think she has other ways of dealing with danger:
Defense1
Defense2
Defense3
Defense4
I'd also like to think that tail she has wasn't an accessory :)
I've considered having a pet Kleptolisk for her named 'Kleft', a gadget totting lizard that is 40% smaller then other kleptos, will see.
I would love to see any art, or even fan-fiction, involving her, I may even give some CE if I really like it. She's free for you to do what you wish with her, just treat her well :).

By Scarred-Knight (IGN: Ailment) <-- You need your own thread man ;)
A character based off of a fan-fic I created some time ago (not SK related, although I did have a version...but I don't plan on submitting it anytime soon). As to how I created him, I had to redo a lot of textures (Chaos Series, Nightblade, redo poison drippings to look like blood, default grey striker added blood), stuck some blades on his back, some sword sheaths on his hips, and finally some blades attached to his feet. The first picture is a basic introduction, his name, and his general look. The rest are him dueling with another character I created.
Introduction
Duel Scene One
Duel Scene Two/a>
Duel Scene Three
Duel Scene Four
Secondly, another character based off of the same fan-fic, although this time I give no name, since atm it would not make sense (not that Solarion makes much sense either, but...). Slightly inspired by the mini-gun Happyapathy created, I kinda made my own version based off of what this character could do. Thus I present what appears to be the first ever, hand "mini-gun".
Next, I bring forth a bunch of images showing what one can do when they know how to edit textures. These are edits of both the Vog Cub and the Skolver in a way that I thought would be more beneficial to the look. Skolver is a little broken, and Vog Cub could be refined a bit, but for the most part they are both "done".
Vog Cub Front
Vog Cub Back
Skolver Front
Skolver Back
Also, these do work in game, and to prove it, here is a video I took of myself when I changed the Vog Cub texture, into something completely different.
That's not how your suppose to blend in!
Finally, a scene I recently completed inspired by the run of UFSC I completed a couple nights ago with Happyapathy, Culture, and Vcat. This scene comes in 4 forms, the original, and some Photoshop edits.
Original
Cutout
Slight pencil strokes + darken
Poster + darken
Thats all I have to show for now. The artwork that is coming from this model viewer is simply incredible, and continues to get better as time progresses.
================================
Note: If your an artist who just wants a picture of a 3D model to work off of for your own Fan Art, provided its not something to big I can probably quickly whip up a temporary model in whatever larger project I happen to be working on and take screenshots of them for you, just ask and I'll see what I can do.
All comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Your guide was extremely helpful, and I love the scenes you've made, but I would love to know how to add a setting and other models.
Messing around with it so far has led me to this: Character1
Character2
Character2.5
Character3
Character3(other angle)
(when I get better at this, one of these characters will be my fan-fic character.)
All of this is not any kind of spoiler or unreleased content, but simply reskins and edits to weapons and items already in the game.
I may request a picture from you later though, since you seem much more experienced than I am at this.

Just as a shameless plug:
I'm currently working on getting SpiralSpy it's own cozy place on the web (which should also serve as a place for sharing fanart):
Once I get that done, I'll probably address some of the issues v1.0 has, mainly the crashing, the non-availability of a save feature, and a better means for exporting scenes to PNG/JPEG. In case, I feel severely bored after that, I might come up with a 2.x branch that actually incorporates a sceneeditor.
PS: Workaround for saving your setup:
http://sites.google.com/site/javaprefs/
(hopefully)
(you are interested in exporting the com/threerings branch).

I notice that closing windows tends to 'reset' whatever changes you may have made in them, same thing happens if you open up a new window of the same. I made note of this issue in the guide I made repeatedly warning users NOT to close any windows while using the program.
Example: You click "Edit" in the config for an animation and make changes to it, if you go back to the first window and click "Edit" again the window that opens will override and reset anything you did in the first window you opened.
Can't wait to see what improvements will come in the future. Maybe will have a full blown movie maker eventually :D
Still waiting for requests...

D'you reckon I could talk you into doing some pretty extensive image-ref creating? If I've understood this thing right, it can grab all the models that are in the game? So...
What I want is basically a little sheet of every mob in the game, with 4-5 different view angles. I like my fanart to be pretty accurate, and details are just so hard to catch ingame with the top-down view on everything. :| (I'm still mostly clueless about what a Phantom's body looks like, other than sort of black...)
I would do this myself, but getting SpiralSpy to work on my mac, with steam and then figuring out how it works seems like it might be, if not impossible, pretty hard. I am not tech savvy.
Anyway.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z121/Mazzelh/Derps/Refslikethis.png
That's the sort of angles I'd like.
If doing every mob in the game is a bit too much work, just pleasepleaseplease do a Lumber, a Phantom, a Trojan and a Retrode (of each tier?). I cannot get a decent look at what those critters' legs/lower bodies look like and it is frustrating. :|
If you do have the time to provide me with an entire library of reference images, I will love you a little bit. And draw you something if you'd like.

I'll get on it :)
I'm working on a pretty extensive scene right now, mainly an experiment in working with multiple player-characters NPC's with multiple animations and working with the tick counter on FX's in order to freeze them blah blah blah zzzzzzzz..... /ramble (but all true O_o)... but I should be able to do your mobs on the side somewhere out of the way.
P.S. Got any suggestions for future 3D scenes?
EDIT: Actually, could you tell me specifically what mob you want me to work on first, specify variant/tier level if you can, the process can take a while and I'd like to give you something to work with while I deal with the rest. If you have an action or pose in mind too I can look in to that as well if you want. Could you also specify a few things:
Background: Would you prefer white, black, grey, or some other color as a background?
Floor: Do you want me to add a floor under the model or would you like them 'free-floating' in the air?
I can get started once you give me these specifications.

"P.S. Got any suggestions for future 3D scenes?"
Would something like this be possible? I got lazy when it came to drawing it, but I kinda like the idea. :o No idea what sort of background would look nice with it, though.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z121/Mazzelh/Derps/Screenshot2011-10-...
"could you tell me specifically what mob you want me to work on first, specify variant/tier level if you can"
Gimme a tier 3 Phantom to start with, please. Those are the greatest mystery for me, with their black, glowy pinkness. And apparently four eyes? Not sure about that, tried to look at a tier 1 one while it was wailing away at my shield earlier. > >;
"Background: Would you prefer white, black, grey, or some other color as a background?"
White should be good. :)
"Floor: Do you want me to add a floor under the model or would you like them 'free-floating' in the air?"
Free-floating, I think.
"If you have an action or pose in mind too I can look in to that as well if you want."
As un-obscured as possible, if that makes sense. Given that I'll use it to get a look at details, stuff like stretching arms out from the body in front/back views and moving them forward in side views might provide better views.
Quick attempt at illustrating what I mean:
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z121/Mazzelh/Derps/Screenshot2011-10-...
Neutral poses that let me see the full model, basically. :)

My first request and it turns out to be a trick question :s, I searched through all the model files for enemies looking for the 'phantom' and started to sweat when I couldn't find it. Turns out the phantom is just a standard player knight model with a special "helmet" as the phantom head.
For the armor it just uses a standard proto double-belt model with a custom color scheme which I was unable to replicate (mostly I just came up with brightly colored clown suits), as such I left the armor grey and leave it up to you to color it the way you want. I also tossed in a correctly scaled Gran Faust sword for you ;)
I tried a white background but found that most of the FX's disappeared when placed against it (I have a pic showing what I mean), so I changed it to a grey background instead.
A note for your art work, the phantom's head always seems to be oozing some sort of pink ectoplasm or something, you can see it in some of the pictures I took.
All the pictures are in the ZIP file here, I didn't put them into a single sheet cause I did not want to shrink them down to fit on a single image and lose some of the details from the shots, if you would prefer I try and fit them all into a single image please tell me.
P.S. At the download screen ignore the big download button, its the smaller one below it you want. I also have a scene of my own I need to finish first, when I do I'll really get down to those ref models.

Beyond perfect. :3 The grey background is fine, too. \o/
Never knew that about the model, though, glad you could find out the pieces anyway. :o Should help me finish this thing. http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z121/Mazzelh/Manycritters.png (Had no idea how their bodies looked.) As the pic may hint, lumbers are another type of mobs I - really need reference for.
No rush, though. Still wickedly pleased I now know what phantoms should look like. :D

http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Lumber Take a good look at the pictures on this page. If thats not enoughf, go to the bottom of the page and click on the Visual Enyclopedia Of Creatures and look for pictures of Lumbers.

Not only are those pictures very small, they're also all in that annoying top-down angle that pretty much everything is viewed from while playing. So thankoo for the suggestion, but I've been pretty much all over the entire visual encyclopedia page many a time and it hasn't offered the amount of detail I would like/need to replicate it properly. :(

The only thing you need to know is LUMBERS DON'T HAVE MOUTHS! and their eye formation.

Kinda drew its face like that as a joke because I couldn't get it to look right. I thought it would be kinda obvious that it wasn't a very serious attempt. :o

So I'm guessing the lumbers next on list...
Anyone actually plan to comment on the stuff I did? Kinda depressing here...

What's depressing my depressed Happyapathy friend? If it helps: I thought your stuff was pretty cool. I've twiddled with Spiral Spy a few times but as I'm not a particularly knowledgeable tech chap I haven't done a whole lot other then customize some knights and fiddle with some stuff. Haven't figured anything else really. Anyways, enough of myself! Again, your stuff was cool. I liked some of the other guys' stuff too, especially Incoherrant's drawing. Nice of you doing all those things to the nice forum knights. Can I be of encouragement in any way Happyapathy?

Awh, I'll comment.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/LCC_551/Spiral%20Knights/SpiralSp...
This is my favourite shot of this set-up (and possibly your own too, at least it's the one used for your portrait shot). It has a dynamic composition, the bullet and burst graphics being their cool looking selves without obscuring the character. It also follows that whole 'golden ratio' thing very nicely, the bullet to the left, the knight to the right, the edge in the background up top... Makes for a harmonic looking shot. Can't find anything faulty in the posing either, so really just very well done. Slightly amazed it's a first try.

None of the shots of this one really strikes me as as much of a "best" as the one above did, but it is neat. The knight looks cute, the snipes look cute, the setting is kind of pastel coloured... Is overall cute. One thing I think you made a bad decision on was the position of the green snipe. In all the shots where it's visible, it blends into the surrounding grass to some degree. If you'd switched it with the yellowish one in the knight's lap, it would probably have worked better. The grass is also doing some odd pixel grittiness for some reason? Not sure what's up there. I like the design of the knight, though, it's one of the most harmonic looking uses of accessories I've seen.

Striking contrasts, both in colour, texture and size of the critter. It looks nice, it's a good action shot and the blue of the knight stands out very nicely against Vanaduke's old face. The bomb looks a little off somehow, like it's not really being held or something. A Shivermist might have been a bit more fitting than - what is that one? A Blast Bomb? Nitronome? Something in that line? That's very subjective, though. I do like the tension of the set-up and the way the ol' fire dude seems to pause in confusion at the jumping knight.

Amazing how much writing I can get done in places that aren't my NaNoWriMo text. :|

Guys, all the 2shared file links are broken, google always says no such page exists-especially the guide. Can you please repost it using another medium, say, mediafire? http://www.mediafire.com/ Many, many thx.

"So I'm guessing the lumbers next on list..."
Unless you've already started snapping pics, I would suddenly like to rush love puppies up to high priority. I have Fimo clay and a desire to make one. No actual rush, though, those things have been a bit easier to find good screenshots of. :)

wow, didn't expect critiquing :s, I thought something did look off about that second picture with the snipes (care to redraw it ;) ), the problem with the hand in the third picture is something I'm aware of, I couldn't (or didn't feel bothered too) find a proper stance with an open hand to put the bomb in, I used that bomb because I wanted people to recognize it was a 'bomb' at a glance without wondering "what the heck is that guy whose about to get squashed by vana holding?".
Love puppy model should be easy to do, I should get it quickly.
@Ehsan
Thx for the site, been looking for a decent place to host files other then image files, links should work now
@Windsickle
Comments and suggestions for future work would be nice
--------------------
P.S. I need a hug, I was working on a pretty extensive scene of a 4-player battle in a graveyard against a horde of zombies over the last few days but Spiral Spy just crashed and I lost a lot of the work I did on it :'(
I won't try to remake it, would be a disaster trying to reorganize everything. Though its gone I learned a lot from doing it and can confidently say with time I can recreate any sort of scene that can happen in game, even including FX's, particle effects, ambient environment conditions (fog, lighting, etc), and all. Of course I can go beyond that too. I won't be trying to make a scene on that scale again until there is a reliable save function (@Spiral-Spy: still love the program though, just wish it was more stable...).

Perfect puppy shots, thankoo. <3
Much sympathy for your loss of work, I know the pain of that. :< Looking on the positives, you did learn something in the process, though; but hopefully that much-needed save feature will be put in soon.
I also hope the unexpected critique wasn't out of place. :P It does mostly sum up to "I like what you made, it is pretty :D", just a couple of "maybe worth thinking about if you do something like it again" pointers thrown in. :)

the scene was getting epic, like Left 4 Dead meets SK, zombies popping out of ground, climbing over the walls, scaling up the edges of the platform (things they can't do of course), 4 knights desperately making a stand against certain death, then the program crashes and when I reload it everyone is standing in the idle position (closing the program resets all animations to idle) :/
at least with the workspace freed up I'm able to do some smaller scenes I wanted, I just made one which I've posted and I actually really like the way it came out, maybe if you have time you can draw out an action scene based on it :D

I really like the way this one came out, took just over an hour to make, you don't realize how fat those snipes are until you try to place one on your shoulder, THEIR HUGE! If anyone wants a scene like this of them ask me and I'll look into it.
I don't know what to name the bird...

Nice on the Little Friends scenes! They're pretty neat. Awesome how you got the smoke to leave the barrels and design your own snipe; he IS huge! He's on the arm and shield too (those giant Strangers make it look so easy don't they?)!
Interesting how your dark-clad characters just blasted down a group of gremlins in such a natural and bright environment. Why don't you name the snipe something that complements your knight's name? Like synonyms or opposites or something? Just an idea.
Hope this helps! --Windsickle
PS: Might want to move the Thwacker a bit as he's sort of clipping with your shield. Just a little helpful criticism from a completely unqualified critic who's comments you are free to ignore.

If I can request a scene for you to do, can you make a knight with Royal Jelly Crown(Regal Pipe), Azure Guardian Armor(Toasty Vitakit), no shield or weapons, and have him either dive into or swim through a large pool of Health Capsules?
Like this http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z132/shyguyking/Scrooge.png , but with pillz, so to speak.

don't know about that, consumables (pills, hearts, vials, etc) are really just a 2D picture that you pick up, there isn't really a "pill" model. I'll see but I can't promise

Hey Happyapathy. Thought I'd fiddle with Spiral-Spy myself. There's no save feature right? So is there a screenshot feature? Also, to build your worlds you go to the preference tab and use the environments section making each part individually?

This is great! Great creativity, and an overall nice job. :)
I'm tempted to follow your guide and try out this modeling thing myself with Aecarus. (Alas, I fear this would merely strengthen my longing for the Wings...)

@Guitarknight
Sorry man, there is no pill model, best I could do is vitapods, also there's no in-game action that at some point looks similar to a diving motion
@Windsickle
There's no save feature per say, but the program will remember your Environmental Models, but to start a new scene chances are you will have to clear those away to make room. For screenshots I just use the Print Screen command and cropped the picture :P, so no, there is no screenshot feature. And finally yes, building a scene is a paint-staking process involving punching in X Y Z coordinates for every single character, prop, wall, floor tile, and FX, it can get tedious after a while trying to lay down the flooring for a picture, I find that scaling up the tile size to a reasonably larger size can save a lot of time and effort
@Aecarus
Could give me a screenshot of your character and let me see what I can do :)
I have been meaning to put out a new guide on how to use Spiral Spy but it might work better in the form of a large tutorial which I will try to make.

@Happyapathy
"There's no save feature per say"
There is now :)
"so no, there is no screenshot feature."
There is now :)

If you want to, I can give you an account for directly publishing it on my website.

Look what I'm making. What do you think/tips?

If you can make a better version inspired on that....

I've been messing around a lot with Spiral-Spy, but I have always had trouble getting other animations besides the ones it gives you.
One thing I DO know how to do however with the software, is what to do with it once I take it out.
Just take a look at this picture to get a grasp as to what I mean...
This was taking the picture and heavily editing it with GIMP. This ended up lying around since it was too cluttered for any of my uses, but it still had that tone of effort into it.
In terms of what I do once I take the picture, I bring it into GIMP, and the first thing I do is Blur ALL the pixel edges, to make the models blend into everything and add that artistic detail.
Example of this - http://i.imgur.com/2CCyz.png
Now if I wanted to add anything else, I would start using other tools. The main important thing to remember is that through practice one learns how to create what one desires. I myself had to redo a lot of images simply because they didn't work.
Heres an example of putting in some *extra* effects - http://i.imgur.com/PNCml.png (as to what that is, something I made for my guild about 2 weeks ago).
In addition to this, I also started making my own eyes for the knights. Initially I started by replicating the eyes used for the forum pictures, but I have been starting to make my own in addition.
I have more examples of such pictures, but I am interested in trying out Spiral-Spy again following the guide. Thank you for typing it out for those who wanted to delve deeper into the amazing tool that is Spiral-Spy. :)

Can i request you updating your guide? <_<
Thanks.

I made on and Photoshopped it a bit

Okay, the guide is now my current work in progress :)
@Romasanta
What photoshop effect did you use to achieve that look? I would like to know, thanks.
NEW - making a sort of 'comic' series about SK using Spiral Spy, its not going to be a continuous story-like webcomic, just short sequences.
Thanks for the growing support people :)

I used the poster edges filter for the first image, and for the second, darker image, I use the watercolor filter. Incidentally, anyone know if it's possible to move the knight away from the center of the grid?

I've tried to do just that myself. It seems like the controls for that would be found in the "Edit" section on the knight's pane, but sometimes it doesn't open for me. Happens a lot with the "Preferences" section too. I don't know if it's related or not but sometimes an environment will be unmodifiable or closable. Anyone else have that problem? Pressing clear for the specific environment, the window closes but the environment is still there and won't be moved? When these things I happen I have to restart the program. Lot of technical issues. Anyways Romasanta, look around that Edits section in the knight's pane. I was able to move my knight's head but not the rest of his body! Oo.

All to be explained in the upcoming guide :)

@Windsickle
I had that happen to me, as well. I'm considering trying to move pieces of armor individually.

How to change the background? thx. and also how do you add extra stuff? sorry but I'm digitally-illiterate lol. (By extra stuff I mean like have 2 characters instead of the default one)

Here's some character poses I created:
If you want, I'll upload a video of all the attack animations. They're really cool, since you can make the Divine Avenger perform the Khorovod charge attack or make the Fang of Vog perform the Wild Hunting Blade charge attack (which is quite fitting).

@Ehsan
In preferences, create a new environment model, then go rsrc>world>skybox, there should be a wide range of backgrounds to choose from.
@Windsickle and Romasant
Not to be mean but I'll tell you now that your doing it wrong with moving characters

Last night I realized I could import models through the preferences and then went back to work on a new scene. Spiralspy started to act up after the first two pics though, and I was unable to re-orient things so that the snowfall was visible from the other angles.
I did take a few good ones, despite the program getting temperamental with me.

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd463/aavb132/snapshot11.png
I actually created a gigantic enclosed space in which i put everything in, but since spiralspy doesn't want to play nice, I can't be arsed to upload a pic of it

@Windsickle and Romasanta
I just re-read what you said about been able to move the knights head or pieces of armor individually, I'm not sure but you may have stumbled on something I haven't figured out, if you can tell me exactly what you did I would like to know thanks.

I guess I didn't do a very good job of explaining above. On the knight's pane on the right-hand side, I pressed "Edit," under "Implementation," under "Attachments," I can then translate, rotate, and scale a variety of attachments (I just say "parts") of the knight like one can do with environments. Only a few of them work though (the head and the eyes).
That's what I tried at least. So how do you do it?

@Happyapathy
I had a better idea(I think) than moving the knights' bits and pieces one by one until I got a complete whole. I made a new environment model though the preferences menu, loaded up a player character model, and then changed its coordinates. I'm pretty sure this isn't a new find; just my brain realizing something fairly obvious.

@Ehsan
Nice, I'll explain how to make a floor for your character to stand on soon :P
@Windsickle
You have no idea how helpful that is :D, the method i used for head 'tilting' involved literally decapitating the character and using a separate model for the head, you have found a much much better way of doing it, thanks.
@Romasanta
Good pics, I'll add them to my main post, just wondering you didn't happen to find a way to actually position their limbs precisely did you or are those just very well fitting animations you used for their poses?

@Romasanta: Yeah, I've been doing that too.
@Happyapathy: Glad I could help. You're welcome. So did you know how to move the subject of the right pane (I don't know what it's proper name is)?
PS: Posted some pics on the Spiral Spy website for you Bloogato lovers: http://spiral.onyxbits.de/image/tid/2

but I already know how. Turns out, everything can be added with a new environmental model. Check this out if u have time... http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/32481

I looked at all of the pc animation poses, and several npc ones, and figures that those were the most fitting for that particular showdown. Mind you, I think I might be able to mess around with individual extremity positioning, but I'll have to experiment a bit.
