I think they upped the drop rate again.
Radiants and why they NEED to be fixed.
I'm going to bump this thread because I just went to forge a five star weapon from level nine to level ten and it failed on me around 10 times on the 2x. Usually I suceed on the first or second attempt, occasionally the third.. but wow. Just wow. That's like 6 months worth of casual farming or 2 days worth of hardcore no-fun-allowed farming. Gone. All gone.
Now I know that I'm "just unlucky" (0.0000059049 chance of 10x forge fails = 680 crystals lost) with this, but is that really the feeling you want players to walk away with when they play your game? That they're unlucky and can't make progress? Do you think they're going to want to play your game or buy your boxes? Because I certainly don't want to play your game or buy your boxes right now.
Do you think they're going to want to play your game or buy your boxes?
Cmon you know the answer more than me, i mean there a lot of "HERPA DERPA DERP!" players that prefeer boxes lottery promo, instead energy + boxes... so obviously they going to buy boxes.
while we still have that kind of players OOO will still rely on RNG as feature of their game and honestly its something that make you get tired sooner or later, and more when its something that you need to progress. this game sadly went from an epic aventure to "boxes for the derp even if they dont get what they want".
It would help if the crystals didn't cost such an astronomical amount.
I've played off and on for a few weeks and I can only just now use them to level up one of my long-neglected weapons.
Honestly, I've just kept 90% of my weapons at 4* because they're mostly superior to unleveled 5*'s except for the charge attacks on some.
SPIRAL KNIGHTS HAVE NO MOUTH AND THEY NEED TO SCREAM
This has been a problem since October 2013 you guys.
That's a 1 year and 6 months of radiant drought.
That's 545 days.
1 measely "radiant buff to extend to depth 25 if your lucky"
We've had more recolor armors programmed into the game than rads.
What are we paying them for again?
The problem is less the prize boxes and more that crafting gear just isn't fun any more. In fact, it's quite the opposite of fun- I was having a GREAT time in game, and then the game removed that great time and replaced it with me uninstalling the game. Look guys, I fixed the radiant problem by uninstalling the game. All gone. No more demand coming from me for boxes every two weeks, no more demand for radiant fire crystals, no more runs that end poorly. Team Fortress 2 gives me free stuff and I don't even want it to most of the time.
Because I'm in a good mood (from not dealing with the forge) I'll break down this destruction of fun:
I don't want to have to wait for the "good gate" or give up all of my crowns just so that I can actually progress. I want to just go on gates that look fun without having to worry about that! I don't want to know what's ahead all of the time. I shouldn't have to get to D27 and be like "alright, lets wait for the CT level so that we can actually be rewarded for our run..." I should just be rewarded with what I need, since I put in the work to get it- especially for defeating a D27/D28 compounds.
Another thing that I shouldn't have to do is cheese the game into giving me a dozen arenas at D28 to progress. Yeah, you know who you are with the alts. I can do it too but I DON'T because you know what? It isn't worth it for me. I'd rather just do something else or play some other game than organize a 10 hour play session just to heat a weapon and a half IF the forge doesn't feel like taking it all away from me because I'm "unlucky".
The alternative to farming them is paying for them with energy. But the whole point of having the rarities and all of that was that crafting gear would be made free if you chose for it to be. The other side of this is that it now costs more to heat a 5* weapon as it used to to just craft an entire weapon. If you convert your crowns into radiants, you end up with about 3 radiant crystals bought per 4 radiant crystals found on the ground (and I have done the math, using lancer knight's data and 8K CE as the price of energy), which means that you'd end up paying for about 300 radiants of every seven hundred required of you; 4800 energy compared to the 2,800 required before the update for just the heating portion that used to be free.
You can argue that it's easier to grind for that or whatever you'd like, but as someone that doesn't necessarily favor playing more than 10 levels a day, I have not found it so much easier to grind for money. Sure it's a subjective thing. Maybe you're having a DANDY time farming for radiant fire crystals. Unfortunately I don't really care for the whole "you can't know that players don't like to grind for days until their eyes bleed" argument because I call 'em like I see 'em and the "too rare" thing is real- I felt it.
The big exciting conclusion to crafting used to be when I upgraded my whatever to 5* and saw how magnificent it was when it shot that bird, or had a humongous radius and I rushed into action wanting to use it immediately. But now there is no excitement, because when I first craft it to 5* it feels like I just signed up for the burden of paying for it, and by the time I have paid for it I'm tired of using it.
The worst part of this is that for the duration of heating that 5* gear I can't really work on other items. All of my runs focus on getting radiant fire crystals and starting another item would only put me further in debt. If I fail to pay off my radiant crystal debt, I end up worse than where I started when I was at 4*.
So then humans want me to come on a run with them and I can't. Why can't I? Because I need those radiant fire crystals or else.
What if I don't want to gamble? Then I can opt out of gambling for paying more on average and gambling for something else? Or gambling with worse odds?
Normally when you gamble winning is a big deal. With the forge this isn't so- now it's about not losing. It's like being a hostage and watching terrorists choose someone to kill- will I lose all of my radiants today? Or will they let me go home? The draw of a casino is that you can WIN BIG! WOO! Not that they randomly slap you upside the head 1% of the time for no reason. People don't want to go to that casino so stop running it.
I just came back looking at SK.
radiants are still as they used to be. unsurprisingly, I havent played for months because I just lost all fun in grinding for rads. I thought about doing UFSC to get radiants, but just thinking of having to do FSC any more (even when it is the SL version) made me feel uncomfortable.
playing became a chore more than anything.
I would rather just play some of my bought games than spend another minute farming FSC for radiants.
I like the art style, I like the combat and everything attached to it, I like collecting gel drops. I like so much about SK, but the lack of radiants is so bad that it outweighs EVERYTHING else for me.
I wont play anymore. no, I CANT play anymore.
"I wont play anymore. no, I CANT play anymore."
If only you had the same opinion about complaining on the forums.
seriously.
did I do something to your frail self? did I hurt you?
no? well then piss off.
if you still cant leave me alone, you can contact me through steam instead of annoying me on the forums.

"if you still cant leave me alone"
You're the one that can't leave us forumers alone.
You've bumped this thread multiple times already just to continue your personal ranting. I'm asking you to stop. In fact, I wasn't the first person to ask you to stop bumping in this thread.
first of all, I created this thread. if anything, YOU should leave ME alone, not the other way around.
secondly, I only bumped this thread a couple times. other people did so as well. go check if you dont believe me.
and lastly, "personal ranting"? I didnt even post that much. why arent you complaining about fehzor or someone else?
its clear that you cant leave me alone.
now stop derailing this thread.
Not really a derail on the subject, it's a potential solution to the problem.
What's the thread about? Radiants. What's the issue with radiants? The forge. How do we fix the forge? Here's an idea.
Pretty simple train of thought. If we were to bring up, say, the legion of almire for no apparent reason, then that would be off topic.
A suggestion in general discussion usually can path its way to the suggestions forum if it is thought to be good enough and someone (or the original poster) decides to do so.
