Download the .jar, cut/paste it to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/spiralknights
Run the jar and viola!
Love this!

Can anyone tell me how to put my character into a fighting stance? I don't seem to get it. >.<
i like it, interesting how OOO organized things
>I'm seriously considering writing a SpiralSceneGizzmo from scratch!
i'm trowing shinies at you but nothing is happening
But i can't open the spy... This is the window showed to me: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/213/errorvi.png/
"It's not possible find the acess point of the process _JVM_DefineClassWithSourceCond@32 in the dynamic link library jvm.dll" (Thanks Google Translator!)
What it mean? what can i make to this thing work? T.T
So err, I could get the jar downloaded and stuck in the (I hope) right place, and it opens up nicely and it lets me play around with ... very little.
I can mess around with a few basic models, but it seems like I'm missing out on 90+% of the files it should be able to open. Any hints? Hints to what sort of specific info would make it easier to figure out my problem would also be nice.
While I can't get it to work, would anyone be willing to snap a few screenshots of a violet knight with:
Skolver Cap
Vitasuit Deluxe
Royal Jelly Shield
Cold Iron Vanquisher
Much appreciated if anyone's willing. Pose doesn't matter, I just wanna see the pieces together. :o
Here Incoherrant, sorry about the Royal Jelly Shield, color scheme seemed to be messed up, white instead of purple.
Here are 3 screenshots, each from different angles.

Did u forget about asking me directly on my own thread? :)

">I'm seriously considering writing a SpiralSceneGizzmo from scratch!

Someone reading my "blog" :3 \o/! Hm ... wait ... throwing shinies at me? In case you are mailing my char: don't I use this account for forum postings only (I am a bit paranoid and really don't want my knight to be associated with this software. Among other things, I don't want to get fanmail/support tells, etc. while in the clockworks).
@Urbam
"What it mean? what can i make to this thing work? T.T"
First time, I see this. SpiralSpy really does little more than starting a new Java virtual machine from scratch to load the modelviewer in it (I need to do this because Clyde depends on LWGL which depends on some native code, so cannot easily load into an already running JVM). My best guess would be to reinstall java.
Thankoos to both Rangerwill and Happyapathy, that actually looks nicer than I thought it would have. :D
And @Happyapathy in particular, no, I hadn't forgotten, I just figured you'd seemed busy lately and didn't wanna bother you. :o
Also, @bonusimage, I think that shiny actually was in the game (maybe during beta?) and got taken out. The wiki has mentions of several monsters like it. :) Kind of like ye olde Tortodrone.
@Spiral-Spy
I'm not sure whether I've posted here before, but anyway
I love your program, It's helped me to decide on a lot of gear for costumes etc etc.
Although, I need to ask. Is there a way I can make the model /sit or take the 'fighting stance'?
A few days ago I finally gave Spiral Spy a try. As an experiment, I tried to recreate my character with it. Then I found out it wasn't too easy because I have to guess which file has the data for my equipment. e.g. I wear Dragon Scale Set and I couldn't find which data files correspond to the helmet and armor.
I'm wondering if there is an easy way to do this? e.g. I can specify I am wearing Dragon Scale Helm and Dragon Scale Armor, and my color is red. Then Spiral Spy will automatically combine the right files for me?
If not, would this be a feasible feature request in future releases? Thank you.
Three things.
One, I think this is a great program.
Two, (now questions begin. =p) Is there a way to get a environment? I've gone under preferences, but nothing. =( Help?
Three, attack animations. I got this once, but I can't get it to do it again. Help?
Cheers,
~W
How do you use this, are you not supposed to extract it? I only get some folders. The installation guide doesn't help at all.
Where's the Spiral Knights folder located in Windows 7? o.o
To SpiralSpy
I like to thanks to your program.
It help me so much!
But, would you like to make a video to show me how to use the spiralspy v1.1 in the correct ways.
Thank You!
I don't think I have a Spiral Knights folder to place this .jar file into, since I just use Java to play the game. No Steam or anything. I was wondering if I could get some help on that. I'm using Windows Vista, by the way.
I'm trying my hardest to make this work, but could anyone post me a picture of almairan crusaders armor with a purple (not the dark dark purple, the lighter one) prismatic scheme with the fancy parrying blade? id like to know how this would look before i waste all these materials...
can anyone please post a pic of a divine, volcanic and prismatic wolver tail here? i will send cr to the 1st person who comes with these pics and posts them
Volcanic here:

I have a mac. It tells me to put it in SK's library, but... Well, I've never had one. Or I'm too stupid to know what it is. Could someone please help me?
As Faronel said above, I have no idea where to put the jar. into. Does anyone know what to do?
People why do you need to use Spiral Spy???
With the new added features to the AH it gets rid of the point of Spiral Spy.
Now you can preview items in the AH. Someone is selling what you need so just click on it then press preview, you can even view more then 1 item on you at a time.
for Mac
User/Library/Application Support/spiral
or steam on Mac
User/Library/Application Support/steam/SteamApps/common/spiral knights
if you are on Mac OS Lion the library is hidden to the user by default - fastest way to get to the library is to go to the "Go" menu while in the Finder. If you hold down the option key your library will show up as an option.
Thanks a bunch realnight, but what exactly do you drop it into?. :D
You just put it in the main spiral directory with all the other files - on load the program looks into the sub folders to set itself up - which is why it needs to be placed relative to them.
Thanks again Realnight, but I have yet another n00bish question, how do you add a new model?
I can't find my java folder on my mac.
I go to show package contents (on my sk launch icon)-->contents folder-->resource folder--> now here on my brothers mac is the java folder but i do not have a java folder. Anyone help?
Can someone help me? I use a rather old computer running on Windows XP and I can't find the right place to put the .jar in...or for that matter, I can't even find the .jar itself. halp plz
Looked at it and have a few comments/suggestions.
It's a bit glitchy, as I'm able to add stuff in ways they shouldn't attach, or add helmets/armor as weapons.
I would recommend making this user friendly if you want to make a tool for sharing. Players don't have to see all that information, or play with all those settings. You could just create a few simple combo boxes that show lists of all the information it found, and maybe even title them with their in game item names if that information is available.
Another simple thing is if you can find a way around having to have this program be put in the SK folder. Maybe point to expected locations, and if at worst, prompt the user to point to it (or move the file there if you don't have access to store settings).
The color choices would be better as an actual color slider like how it's presented in the game. A small thing yes, but it's quick to understand a color by seeing it than reading it's name, or having to guess around if you don't know the more artsy color names for the colors the game makers use.
It could gain a lot from having it's controls simplified.
Also, depending on what you can do, and what's available to you, it might be more popular if it could be integrated into your site, instead of a download.
I've tried all the things that they recommended and it still doesn't work! I can't seem to find the Spiral Directory. I tried looking for it via Finder but it just tells me "The folder can't be found." I have a Mac OS X. Someone please please help! I'd really appreciate it.
Search for image files. Will take a while but you're bound to find the game icon or something related sooner or later.
By default the MacOS Finder won't search in system directories like ~/Library where the SK data is usually stored. In recent versions the ~/Library folder will also be hidden, so you'll need to navigate to it manually (cmd-shift-G in Finder will pull up a "go to folder" box, just type in ~/Library and hit return).
@Shisho

Thats neither bug nor feature, but the intended behavior.

While I do agree, that a lot could be done in terms of userfriendlyness, I do not quite see the point of stripping SpiralSpy down to a point where it essentially becomes the game client.

SpiralSpy does not actually need to sit inside the game folder (from a technical point of view), but, of course, it needs access to the game files. I could most certainly come up with a startup dialog that asks you for the directory (I did that once with ScenePainter. The result was rather abysmal. Look through this thread, the number #1 support question is: I cannot find my game folder. I have serious doubts that starting with a filechooser that asks for a directory (instead of a file!) would make stuff any easier.

That would, indeed, be very nice, as would be having the colors sorted by alphabet. Unfortunately, that's OOO code and I can do little about it.
Also, depending on what you can do, and what's available to you, it might be more popular if it could be integrated into your site, instead of a download.
I'd love to integrate SpiralSpy into my website, but unfortunately, that neither technically nor legally possible. Your webbrowser cannot simply display 3D graphics as if they were images and in order to provide the graphics as images, I'd have to put the game on my webserver, which does not have a graphics board and therefore would have a rough time rendering models. Also, I do not want to stretch OOO's patience with me over copyright questions, etc.
(they are already chewing on a support request, I filed last week).
I'm using a Linux OS but can't seem to get it working. I looked for the 'projectx-p' file you were talking about and tried putting spiralspy in there but every time I try running it, I get a popup saying 'Please put the Jar into the SpiralKnights directory'. Any idea what the problem is? Hope you can help, thanks.
but I was able to make this https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1buq0B9px7sS4ctXYeVeoJiDtkEIEmqshGjk5...
Has anyone found the Emberbreak or Firebreak helms on spiral spy? Neither are in the "double ploom" folder, and it's driving me nuts. Blazebreak is there as "volcanic" but I can't find the other two.
Also I'm still confused about how to pose your knight into fighting stances, or how to add monsters into the background?
I've placed the .jar where everyone says it needs to go. Being a Minecrafter, I've got .jars set to be opened in WinRAR by default, so I right click and open it with Java. This, every time.
Help would be ever so appreciated.
That's 'cuz the game doesn't have textures for those helmets. The helmets are textured in-game by the game.
So to actually make the helmet, you'll have to find the right color combination, something which I have yet to do myself.
@Gemyma
The directory you are looking for is ~/.getdown/spiral
(it's a hidden directory).

Stuff can sometimes have weird and/or unexpected names. Most gear is built by simply remixing/reassembling/reskinning gear pieces (that's part of the reason, why it's next to impossible to come up with an intuitive UI for spiralspy). I think, the emberbreaks are a different skin option for what the Kozma(?) wears. Could be wrong though, too lazy to dig around now.
@Dazkid
Strange, from the screenshot, it looks like the right directorty. Check the "code" folder for a file called "projectx-pcode.jar". You get that error message whenever the file does not exist. If it does not exist (for whatever reason) and you are sure that your SK installation is otherwise intact, simply create a file by that name. Contents don't matter, it just needs to be there for the test to pass.
I must ask, should we expect any sort of updated versions of Spiral Spy in the future?
@Happyapathy

Did you have something specific in mind? I don't have any immediate plans for SpiralSpy at the moment, but I'm open to suggestions (mind: coming up with something like ScenePainter *might* take me a bit longer).
@Dazkid
Make sure, you actually start Java in that directory. Chances are, your execution path points to your homedir (note: I am not a windows user, so I'm clueless about changing it).
What would you mean by that? Start Java in \code, or in \spiral knights?
Been tinkering around, and I got a pretty "hot" screenshot.

See what I mean? ;)
Has anyone found where the Sniped Stranger Hats are? The best I've come up with while searching through the files was the actual stranger model, but putting that on gives me a hat for a head. It doesn't seem to be in the helm folder, either, so I'm at a bit of a loss. :<
Snipe hats are in the helm folder under doubleploom. The file is model_cstm-snp.dat.
I wouldn't know how to change the execution path. I don't know Java too well.
I don't know if anyone else has posted this yet, but I think that I have figured out the color schemes on the accessories:
gld : Regal
blu : Cool
pnk : Fancy
red : Toasty
grn : Drab
prp : Dusky
hvy : Heavy
dvn : Divine
vol : Volcanic
recolor : prismatic
