Choose Your Adventure, Pick Your Path! [The Gremlin Spy] - Completed

You decide that this will be your chance, and silently hope that your skills won't be as rusty as you might think. While Edgar and Kevier are tugging over the canteen, you turn around to face them, and edge out the axe out from your bag very slowly. It rubs against the leather with a tiny scrub, and the weight gives away. You try to catch it as it falls, but it nearly slips away from your fingertips. Fortunately, your reflex takes over and you catch it in time before it hits the ground.
The guard manages to pull off the canteen from Kevier rather clumsily, cursing angrily. "You lousy thing! You'll better regret asking stuff from me!"
Before you can attempt to cut your bonds, you notice that the guard starts to eyeball at you, "What're you doing there?"
As swiftly as lightning, you swing your body around, holding out the sharp edge of the axe towards him. He is too surprised to react and got hit in the side, dropping whatever he is holding. Moaning in pain, he tries to return a punch. You dodge away from his blow and swing your axe again. He receives another painful hit, and tumbles to the floor. Clearly he looks terribly wounded, and he struggles to keep himself up.
"You traitor... you are a shame to our kind... This... will not end until...."
Before he can finish, Kevier lunges himself towards Edgar and tackles his face. He falls unconscious, and his eyes close.
"Now that's for torturing me with dehydration!" Kevier squeaks, "Uh, I hope he's not dead already."
You saw off the ropes tying you up for a minute, and then Kevier's. After you're done, the elevator is already reaching its destination soon. You tell Kevier of your plan disguising as the guard. "Sure thing, that makes everything so much easier. You're such a genius! But that unconscious guard here... will be "you" then? You can't leave him alone, or else other guards will discover his whereabouts, and our undercover plan will be busted. You should bring him along too, and just pretend that you knocked him out. But don't tie me up please, the rope is giving me itches."
[Continue at next post]

Hastily, you change clothes with Edgar and took all the important keys and authorisation pass from him. As soon as you get the guard tied up and all, the door opens, revealing a room which resembles a command room. There are so many monitors and control panels being operated at the moment you lose count of them. Some of the technician gremlins are busy making orders through a microphone. while the rest are typing away in front of the monitors.
Although the room isn't incredibly big, security surveillance is everywhere; ten guards at every corner (including the entrance to the elevator), two cameras eyeing on every single activity, and an alarm trigger switch just next to the elevator. You walk out of the elevator, with Edgar heaped over your shoulder and Kevier under your arms, to "report" your duty to the guards nearby.
"Alright then," one of the guards replies, "your job here is done, just hand over the prisoners to the warden, and you're free to go. Oh, just in case, the warden will be in his office if he isn't at the prison room." The guard points at a distant door which looks like another elevator. He performs a respectful salute. "Good job for capturing them."
You salute them back and head over to the next elevator. Inside it you see another set of buttons, as usual. You briefly scan them over. Most of them seem unimportant, like the janitors’ quarters, the mess hall, and the junk yard. Some of the buttons seem really interesting to pry for information. A green button indicates the archives library, which is probably where all the important documents are. A blue button indicates the main construction site of the Grand Arsenal. Another blue button shows you the prison room, which you may choose to go, but you should take care of not losing Kevier at the same time. An amber button leads you to the weaponry, and you get a feeling that not everyone can get in there without proper orders. A red button shows the office of none other than Warmaster Seerus himself, but it will be foolish getting there without a serious plan. There is even a white button here which leads to the exit from the Arsenal, but abandoning the mission right now would be ridiculous as well. Where will you choose to go first?
A- The archives library
B- The construction site
C- The prison room
D- The weaponry

A will be it then.
(Don't worry about the next chapter, it will not take you hours to read anymore, seriously. I promise.

You hit the green button and the door closes. "The archives must be a great place to start with," Kevier nods, "but don't you think it's pretty weird to see a guard carrying two prisoners around while roaming through some documents? I may be able to fit into your backpack, but surely we gotta hide Edgar."
After suddenly realising this fact, you stop the elevator from going on further. You have to find a proper place to hide that guard, somewhere with an enclosed space and secretive. In case the guard wakes up, you don't want him to alert everyone. You look across the buttons again. You narrow down the possibilities to four places: the janitor's closet, another closet room which is for the public, the storage room, and the junk yard. Of course, you can choose to hand Edgar in as a "prisoner" to the warden in the prison room, so he'll be locked away safely inside. Then again, there are always exceptional risks to take. Where will you hide the unconscious guard long enough for you to continue your mission?
A- The janitor's closet
B- The public closet
C- The storage room
D- The junk yard
E- The prison room

Reminder: Daily posting requires daily answers. Better grab hold of your chances before it's too late!

A, because it's the least likely to be accessed frequently. Public closets, well, they're public. Why'd you want to hide anything there? Storage rooms usually contain necessary equipment and are frequented by workers. Junk yards contain a lot of spare parts, and Gremlins are builders by tradition, so we all know how that'll go. And if we toss him in the docks, he'll blab on us the moment he wakes up. Just hope there aren't any big messes around today.

E
Bring Edgar into the prison, it will convince other gremlins that you're on their side other than dumping him in public places. If he did wake up, the guards would probably think that he is crazy, you already took his ID and outfit and traded your outcast outfit to him. It will convince the guards.
Besides, you can ask for information from other gremlin 'prisoners' there.

The Junk Yard .... it's easy to hide him under something large there, or even to block him in so that he couldn't get out if he were to wake up.
We have no idea how often the closets or storage room are accessed, and someone working in the prison may recognize him.

As soon as you step into the junk yard, you are amazed by the sheer size of scrap metals and old machinery piled into hills. Hundreds of workers are busy collecting the endless metal junks and dropping them off into another station. The station alone does all the sorting to separate the recyclable metals from the scorched and shattered ones. The unused junk are disposed off into huge furnace. Still, burning someone alive doesn't seem to be a good option.
You look around and discover that there is an enormous heap of metal untouched by the workers around. It seems like a perfect place to hide the guard long enough and trap him for good. After digging through greasy gears and bolts, you lay the guard down into the tiny pit you made. You manage to cover him up with the heaviest metal you can find around the junk yard, and pile up all the scrap metals back in place. Feeling satisfied that the threat is gone, you walk off and proceed to your next destination.
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
The archives library is indeed very quiet (excluding the background clockwork noise), and it is simply way too large for you to search blindly without a hint. You try to ask for assistance from someone in charge, but you fail to find any "librarians" here... in fact there isn't any. Despite of that, you do observe a lot of gremlins heading in and out of the archives, looking through notes and books and holograms, even the historical parchment scrolls. Amidst the busy gremlins, you spot a technician picking a selection of draft papers behind a shelf, and you decide to consult him.
"Oh, my good sir," the technician almost jump at your approach, "umm, do you need anything from me? I hope I'm not being condemned for any technical failures again."
You tell him you are not arresting him, but you simply need some help. "Oh, you nearly gave me a heart attack earlier." He sighs in relief and gives you a polite grin, "Very well, it's a pleasure to meet you here. I'm Mr. Elliot. How may I serve you?"
Again, you forgotten to think of something to ask, so better make up a question real quick. What will you inquire about?
A- Ask about where you can find the list of all the latest construction projects.
B- Ask him to direct you to the important historical documentations.
C- Get help from him to find the map of the entire Grand Arsenal.
D- Pretend to be interested in the draft papers and blueprints Elliot is holding.

Eliot smells a bit fishy there hmmm.
Anyways Merry Xmas to everyone!
Tell him your looking for a friend in a barrack or something.

I shall delay the next chapter to the following day until there is a definite majority vote. For certain reasons, a normal tie-breaker round won't work here, so I'll try something else if there is still an even vote, you'll be in for a surprise... *maniac laughter*

D - All the other things seem awfully suspicious to ask first thing, and blueprints can hold a lot of information. Besides, if he gets excited talking about them, it will give you more time to think of questions you actually want the answers to and non-suspicious ways in which to ask for them. Or at least a good way to just get a rundown of how everything is organized so you can find what you need yourself.

"You want to take a look at these too?" Elliot chuckles, "Fancy that! If it's for inspection, I can't say no. Hold on, maybe we could take a seat, there is a lot I have to show you."
He lays down the bundles of blueprints on a table and spreads them out, one by one. "I'm currently trying to find some references here for the construction projects, so I thought these are pretty useful. There, these blueprints I'm holding right here, all the past construction schematics."
All you can make up from those blueprints are scribble lines and messy handwritings. "Do they look confusing to you? I'm dreadfully sorry sir," he picks it up and points to another blueprint, "there, these are the final drafts, and extremely detailed too. No, wait, don't look at this one, it's Project R, a shameful failure. Total scrap. Let me put it away. There, now this, is a real beauty. The Battlepod prototype, though it has never been built."
You can see multiple diagrams showing the complex mechanism from different angles, and it resembles a dome with a huge eyepiece at the front. You can even make out the inner structures very clearly. However, you've never seen such a machine being built before anywhere.
"Well, Seerus is planning to build the very first Battlepods in the Grand Arsenal, pretty useful to fend off unwanted intruders. I've seen everything in it, really dangerous I say. We're planning to build a dozen of these around here. Now, back to the blueprints... Now where are my schematics? Ah, here it is. Here are some of the projects I'm supposed to assign to the workers."
Elliot stretches out another bundle of blueprints, "These are military bunkers, really tough and long-lasting, only destructible from the inside, just in case they need a self-destruction command. And here, I've personally constructed a special cloaking device meant for certain special agents we have here. Well, I didn't exactly invent it, I sort of peeked at the knights' intelligence and worked out the mechanism by myself. Rebuilt it from scrap. A fine work it is. Now, um... this one is problematic..."
He points at the last draft paper, "I'm trying to reconstruct the lasers cannons to fire twice as deadly as the ones in Project R, but its almost impossible to make it work without overheating the particle accelerators... Oh, sorry if I'm speaking gibberish to you sir. Basically, Seerus wants lasers in his Arsenal, but more powerful ones. I can't do it, it's too difficult to accomplish. Right now, he's giving me a hard time, and wants a final draft by tomorrow. If I don't, I'll be fired, either working in the junk yard, or grounded in prison." Elliot sighs in great dismay, wrinkling his forehead in frustration.
"I hope you won't mind, but can I ask you a favour? I know this sounds stupid, but you're the only one I can depend on right now. I was worrying so much, then I decided to come to this quiet place to calm myself down. And the next thing I knew was when you appeared. I've never seen a guard so kind as to spend some time to take a look at my work, and hear me chat like an old fool. You're the only one I can trust now. Please sir, can you be merciful to this old gremlin just for once? I'll do anything to stay away from that mad warmaster!"
Elliot seems really serious and desperate. But you still have an undercover mission going on, after getting some intel on the construction blueprints. What will you do now?"
A- Offer your help to Elliot.
B- Ignore him and continue on to the construction site.
C- Ignore him and continue on to the weaponry.
D- ignore him and continue on to the exit from the Arsenal.

It seems like you've already gotten some good information from the guy, so whatever it is he wants may uncover even more.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa
EDIT: Sorry for the spam

A
He is a man in need! We should help him!
Or maybe we can bring him to emberlight... scratch that

All votes for A! Look who's got the Christmas spirit going on! :)
(Sorry for the delay, I apologize if I left you waiting for long.)

"Thank you dear sir! I owe you a kindness. Alright we'll talk about that later, we've got something to worry about right now." Elliot coughs softly away from you, "So, basically, the only solution I can ever imagine is beyond the technical knowledge I possess. You may think I'm mad, but yes... I need some mythical force to power up the laser. In other words, magic."
"You see," Elliot blinks at you, "why do you think the simple Mender's wrench wand can heal every type of allies, regardless of the difference of races? The secret lies within the healing properties in the Luminite shard, imbued at the tip of the wrench. With its infinite power, the Mender can be almost untouchable. Apart from that, the Knockers wield a pair of wands with two different mineral shards. The power they contain can be twice as deadly, which is why we can never underestimate their tiny size. Yes, all I need is the power of minerals, lots of them."
"However, I am yet to figure out which combination of minerals I have to use. That's where I need your help. Two types of minerals is all I need. Simply go to the laboratory in the Arsenal, bring the two mineral specimens into the construction site, then I'll meet you there. Oh look at the time, I should be off to work now, farewell good sir." Elliot salutes you politely, and goes back to the bookshelf.
As soon as you enter the elevator, something in your bag starts to whine and kick around. As it pokes out from the bag, you realise that thing is simply poor little Kevier, stuck in you backpack for an hour.
"Gah! I can't believe it! Why on Cradle do you help that old technician! We're on an undercover mission, not some generous charity business! Alright, fine, you may have your intentions, but if that old gremlin discovers who we are, I'm so outta here!"
[Continued at next post]

After entering the laboratory, you can see all sorts of experiments going on, but that is not your concern. All you need to learn about is the minerals. You approach one of the scientists to ask about the minerals.
"Good day sir. Ah yes, you've found the perfect one here. I'm a mineral specialist around here, you can count on me for sure. Now where shall we begin? The power to generate destructive laser beams? How fascinating! Hmph, I wonder why that technician won't come to ask me by himself. Nevermind that, first of all you will definitely need Crimsonite, that's the main power source of all things destructive. Secondly you will need..."
Just before he can continue, another scientist interrupts the conversation and whispers to his ear. "WHAT?! Which fool left that kleptolisk feeding on that Moonstone? He deserves to be... oh just bring me to the cage!!" Both of them storms off without saying another word.
While you are left wondering what happened, the scientist rushes back, holding a spreadsheet. "Sorry sir, it seems that I need to pardon myself for now. There is a terrible accident in another lab. Hope this will help. Now would you excuse me..." Once again, he storms off to the exit, yelling about stupid assistants and mischiefs.
It seems like the spreadsheet has some brief information on each different minerals.
(You can read the sheet here: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Mineral#Mineral_Types )
Which mineral will you pick to pair with the Crimsonite? You are only allowed to choose one.
A- Moonstone
B- Valestone
C- Luminite
D- Dark Matter

Shock and fire are inflicted by the roarmaulos twin's beams. It only reasonable it would be moonstone.

C'mon, fire and poison would be the most deadliest! You can't heal and you constantly lose health!
best idea ever since that encyclopedia of yarn balls!

Dark matter contains the essences of both chaos and nothingness. If combine with Crimsonite = MASSIVE DESTRUCTION!

A = The Strength of life given the Knowledge of worlds? Smart Strength.
B = The Strength of life given even more life? Strength * 2!
C = The Strength of life given purpose by the Zeal of life would make an excellent power source.
D = Anti-matter/matter reaction. Uncontrollable.
I choose C.

After some thinking....I kinda agree with yours. Only Seerus wants an uncontrollable massive destruction. But I hv to stick to D. MASSIVE DESRTUCTION muahahahaha!

It seems logical that the properties in A would be best to focus the energy from the crimsonite into a concentrated beam, like a laser, rather than an area effect or an unpredictable one. However, rather than guessing, I'd be more likely to just bring the spreadsheet to the engineer, who may know a bit more about it than I do so that he can make his own decision.

I agree with Tevokkia and Hawxindanite, but the reasoning behind mine is a bit more simple - Gremlins are known only to drop Red Shards (Crimsonite) and Blue Shards (Moonstone). Because of this, I can assume that these are the shards that Gremlins use most often in their creations, and therefore A would be my choice.

Must be D, because as as D crystal (Didn't want to type the name XD) is the essence of chaos and nothingness, so therefore it would equal MASSIVE DESTRUCTION!

Most votes go to A!
Unfortunately, A isn't a great choice, and Geoknight Wegner would like to see you after this. /shrug

You take a sample of Crimsonite and Moonstone shards and show them to Elliot. "Thank you sir," Elliot says with a grin, "now let me test the outcomes from this mineral combinations. I really do hope they'll pack the punch we need, and what Seerus wants." He mutters the last words as though as his life depends on it.
He turns around and fiddles back and forth on a device, which somehow resembles a generator. He inserts the Crimsonite first, and then the Moonstone. Feeling satisfied with the controls, he pulls down a lever.
The machine emits a beeping sound, and stays silent for a long moment. After a full minute, you see a faint violet glow beneath the transparent glass which contains the minerals. But other than that, nothing else happens, and the minerals look pretty much the same as before.
"I can't believe it!" Elliot stares intensely at the minerals with his mouth gaping open, "all it does is simple luminescence, not even a beam to be seen! But why?... If only I know about minerals better..." He looks at you with a saddening glance, "Well, you've tried to help, don't mind me now... I really have to go, there's still work to be done..." As soon as he finish his words, he vanishes into the group of workers.
After heading into the elevator, Kevier pokes his head out from your backpack again, "Goodness me! All the Moonstone has is knowledge, boring knowledge and nothing else! How can that generate a powerful laser beam? I thought you would be smart enough to figure it out. Nevermind, I don't really care about that old guy anyway."
Nonetheless, you have collected certain information on the Arsenal from the technician. You can choose to enter another location to search for more intel, or risk the time to help out the technician once more and pick out another mineral. You can also choose to end the mission and report your findings to Kora, however you will lose the opportunity of searching for more intel.
A- Head to the weaponry.
B- Head to the construction site.
C- Get another mineral combination for Elliot.
D- Exit from the Arsenal.

Let's go hit the weaponry; we may as well make the most of the fact that we're here, and I'm sure Elliot knows where he can get another mineral to try again. Should have left the spreadsheet with him, though.

B! we don't want there to be EXTREMELY POWERFUL LASERS hurting knights who try to pass through the arsenal, do we? and the weaponry seems very dangerous, and we don't have enough info to call it a day yet.

C'mon, we should help Elliot! Don't you feel sorry for him?

I'd be willing to switch to C. Helping him with the project could get us some excellent intelligence on it, since it's going to get done whether we're in on it or not.

I was re-reading some of the previous info given, and I think the best way for us to figure out what this Grand Arsenal is either heading to the site itself (B) and discovering as much as we can about production, or seeing if we can keep a strong link with Elliot (C) so that we can continue to get some intelligence from him...also, who knows? Maybe Elliot will prove to be a trustworthy gremlin and we can bring him back to Kora.
Of the two, I'd be leaning most towards C.
Tevokkia's plan sounds great (Autofire takes some credit too). But of course, nice try guys!
