This update makes me want to... scream.

I have been gunning for guild updates. There NEEDS to be some guild updates, and now all that... at least I see... is being done is more and more accessories.
Is it hard to put in a guild hall announcement board? Or mass messaging? If there was just an announcement board update I would be thrilled. That alone would satisfy me. That's all I ask. THAT'S IT. To be able to put our guild web site up and get people more involved not just in the guild, but in the game. The announcement board would not just be a benefit for the guilds, but for three rings.
Instead... you make... pocket pets.
I'm appalled. This is the first update I've ever experienced in a three rings game that I'm just completely put off with because there are things we NEED in the game... pocket pets is NOT one of them.

I've said this many times before, but just because you see one thing come out in an update, it does not mean nothing else is being worked on.

I know this eury. I do. I realize it. I know you guys work on so many things at the same time. I just find certain things a little more important and NEEDED than pocket pets. UV rolling locking I can deal with, character customization I can deal with.
I sent in a petition at release last year asking about guild halls... asking why we didn't have what we had in beta. That was such a good set up. They replied telling me that it was being worked. I'm a patient person. So, I accepted it and I said to myself that's okay they'll get something for us soon.
It has been a year. I don't care anything about guild hall customization. I don't care for any more accessories. What I care about is there are things we NEED in the guilds and one of them is an announcement board.
I love Three Rings, I have met some amazing people and have had awesome experiences because of games that Three Rings has created and have been nice enough to share to everyone as a free to play game. I appreciate everything you guys do. I appreciate the hard work that all the staff puts into their games and their communities.
Still doesn't change I think that having pocket pets before a guild hall announcement board is available... is silly.

Things we want inb4 things we need. OOOs knows us perfectly.
It's just how I crafted my 5* cosmetic Volcanic Salamander before I even touched any of my actual important 4* gear. OOOs you sneaky devil, have you been watching me this whole time?

Please, tell me more how does OOO listen to suggestions and how does OOO actually CHECK OPINIONS not only check which topic is most repeated in suggestion forum?

Because it takes over one year to put in a simple guild announcement board feature, or anything at all for guilds. Hell, beta had more guild features than the actual release, since there was a trinket vendor for some simple ASI/DMG/CTR bonus trinkets, which was entirely removed, with the trinkets thrown into Coliseum rewards instead.
There is literally no reason you guys could not put up some simple guild features, besides just not wanting to.

Some things are more important and are a little more highly-anticipated for much, much longer, yet have not seen the light of day (The Core).

What do you mean pocket pets is not important?!
Does mass guid messaging creates a ce/cr sink?! NOOOOOOO

I'll take a wild guess and say that if there wasn't this patch at all, no-one will be complaining.
I'll also guess that I might regret posting this.

"Does mass guid messaging creates a ce/cr sink?! NOOOOOOO"
100 CE per mass mail!
i agree with Jen
+1 to the thread
You could be gussied up in the latest accessory trend, but it won't matter if players leave in the droves because the game lacks new levels, guild content, monsters, challenges, pvp games and/or bosses.

Well, we all know what to do now:
Create lots and lots and lots of topics in suggestion forum with "NEW DUNGEONS PLZ", "NEW CONTENT PLZ", "MOAR DUNGEONZ", "DUNGONZ", "CONTENT NAO". And we will get content! For a charge in a DLC pack!
It's funny, by making stratum 6 runs equal to fsc in terms of payout, cutting shadow key costs down to 1/3 the price, making SL mats worth more or at least more utile, and adding in 2-3 more GRINDABLE, PROFITABLE t3+ bosses, this game would be dope. Is that really that hard to do?

Eurydice = Diplomat talk
Its obvious that Eurydice wont ever say a 'bad' (where bad is already too strong word) about OOO and devs since Eurydice works for them.
On the other hand Eurydice is "community manager" so Eurydice has to "manage" playerbase on forum or some would even say control the crowd.
What is the result? A neutral Diplomat talk that needs to both satisfy OOO and must seem comforting to players and make them think that OOO still cares about them. Kinda like propaganda posters. They are there, something is there but everyone know why they are there, to make us think just as they (OOO) want. Or like public relation officer, he will come out, say something obvious that everyone know about but noone really believes it, and thats it. Its just the job.

You guys are all a bunch of hypocrites. If you're going to complain then don't do like it the OWS where you're complaining about how you're disappointed in this patch yet here you are getting the content from it.
Guilty as charged for me but when do I ever make any sense on my posts? And it's only 11/12a.m./p.m.
Guess I'm not the only one who stalks OOOs/SK.

Completely agree with this.
OOO keeps telling us that "the release of accessories doesn't mean we aren't working on anything new" and i do belive that, since all of them look pretty dumb, but this has been going for what, 2~3 months now? Nothing new except weapon changes and accessories. I'll admit the performance upgrade was good, but that's it.
And yeah, we need guild updates, something that makes being in a guild worthwhile. I'd sugest in-guild pvp, a battle arena of some sort in the guild hall, but yeah, right now, i'd settle with anything that doesn't go on your armor and makes you look stupid.

"If you're going to complain then don't do like it the OWS where you're complaining about how you're disappointed in this patch yet here you are getting the content from it."
This makes no sense. Everyone gets content from the patch, whether they want it or not. Why should this prevent them from expressing their dissatisfaction with said content?

Haven count: 10 Haven servers maxed @ English.
I take it the SK community are all a bunch of liberals who want everything for nothing & for the government to send them more free money from their income tax because doing my job & getting paid from it isn't enough to satisfy my wants over needs.

If you know anything about me, you would know I'm NOT being a hypocrite about this.
I stated a long time ago how upset I would be about getting anything pet related in the game before guild updates. My guild knows how passionate I am about this. I'm not quitting the game. I will just not buy this pocket pet until there is guild updates. I know my little protest may not make a huge difference but I'm sticking by it nonetheless.

What Try said, I think once my elevator pass ends I'm either going totally f2p or just givine up. Fancy new visual teasers might be a hearty crown/ce sink, but it's not really getting us anywhere. What do I do once I have every piece of gear with triple max UVs?

I believe us working for these little misc patches are the updates. The company probably has something big planned for us & maybe that's why they're handleling content this way? I do want me one of those babies.. & accessories.. & a stone trojan helmet for the luls... well.. maybe not the trojan helmet.

If you have seen the size of thread 40011 then you'll know that it may well take 3 months to develop the entire thing, along with other things that OOO are working on. You seriously don't think they spent the last month just resizing some monster models and typing up 5 lines of coding with a bit of GUI altering?

OOO could probably get my gf and I to get an elevator pass if they gave us something worth buying one for. Game's stagnant. We haven't played in like 2 months now due to lack of anything to do. That's $24 USD missed out on by OOO from just two people, I imagine many many more also feel the same way.

Psh, mine doesn't run out till OCTOBER, and I've hardly made any use of it in the past 2 months, and it's getting to the point where I do like 3 runs a day tops. If I wanted meaningless grinding with a collection of silly pets, I'd go play Pokémon.

I agree with Dancinjen 100% on this. We do need a few better guild hall features and miscellaneous features that should be implemented into SK instead of accessories and stuff. If you have time to design a few accessories, why can we not have things such as a new theme? Is having "Kawaiidesu Eyes" more important than having an actual in-game fun? Personally, I see this as a way that OOO profits from the community, personalized characters and such. Once again, I completely agree with Dancinjen's argument.

Eury, I know you are stuck in a position where you have to put a positive spin on things, but being a guild master and having to send individual mail to all of your members to organize anything is getting old. Jen is right, this is a very simple update to put a message board in the guild hall, and would improve cohesivness and communications among members.
Frankly, for the amount of money I've spent in this game, I'm growing disilliusioned. I was hoping for new content soon, and i'm sure it's coming. This update though... I dunno. Please, heed our requests to improve the game. I can't justify my spending on this game anymore, i'm dropping money to make myself pretty, but I'm done. Give me another reason to continue to support this game. Fix the guildhalls so that we can better manage our guilds. I shouldn't have to have made a separate website to communicate with my guild.
You guys are mad at what they have been adding, and then you wish instead for other relatively meaningless updates. WE NEED MORE RUNS PEOPLE! All admit jen that GH updates are better than some of the new additions, but it is still not what we need at the moment. Find me one other good MMO that only has one end game grindable, profitable boss. It's absurd. All the gear in this game and nothing to use it on.

Hexzyle,
I replied to eury saying I'm very much aware there are other things they are working on. I think all that time they've spent on pocket pets could have been spent on an announcement board. I'm not looking for this huge guild hall in one crazy update and demanding it NOW.
What I'm saying is... this game has been out since around 2009... I do believe. They started open beta last year. Then They released it to beta players on April 1, 2011 and released it publically a few days later.
In the guild halls in beta they had vendors, ALREADY THERE. Boost, kozma, gun vendor and all them were there. IN BETA. Release comes and they remove it all with a new gloomy guild hall that only has an alchemy machine.
I don't know if you're an officer in a guild or a guild master but I know that there are fellow guild masters that feel my pain here. If you have a guild of 75 and it's 25 crowns a message and it has to be sent out individually EVERY TIME you want an event to happen. NOT only that but did I mention the more high profile guilds will of inbox full of messages of people wanting to join, and thread with messages of people wanting to join. So then you have all those messages to send out and reply to individually. It takes up a lot of time that could be spent elsewhere. It becomes tiresome and boring REAL fast.
Think of jempire that has an alternate guild for those that are waiting to get into the actual guild. They go through twice the stuff that most of us go through. twice the members. twice the application. twice the recruitment runs. I don't know if they do this but I do promotion runs as well.
What is being asked and BEGGED for here is NOT unreasonable, I'm not asking too much. All I want right now is an announcement board. It could be like the ones they have in puzzle pirates. When you enter the guild hall it could have some sort of announcement board stand you walk up to and access. If they want charge me 25 crowns per announcement. I don't care. It beats having to send out all kinds of messages, going through the trouble of getting people on a guild web site... it makes things more known. It makes things EASIER. It will bring a guild closer together and encourage people to play more.
If I had an announcement board arranging guild pvp matches would be easier. Making gvg matches more known and easier makes it more exciting. People will want to get better gear. People will be more active.
If I had an announcement board arranging events like proto runs to the core where I will spend money to buy good prizes for the winners.
If I had an announcement board guilds could arrange gvg matches and become competitive together or goofy.
The announcement board is not just some lazy thing we are wanting so we don't have to do as much work... it's something that is seriously beneficial to EVERYONE.
It would help make guilds more important, by making gvg more important. It could help make clockworks more important and FUN. It could help with those that have reached end game have more fun and spark in their play without losing players to lack of new content. Communication and contests do AMAZING things for communities.... when done right.
This is needed.
I 100% agree with Isomorphize.
It's absolutely absurd that there is literally only one profitable grind in this game for each important category. Need heat? Go kill the JK. Need crowns? Go kill Vana. The end-game in Spiral Knights is so linear and anti-fun... it's really quite disappointing...
Would new guild features be nice? Sure.
Would an improved end-game be better? Absolutely.
Do we need more accessories? No.
That's not to downplay the OP, who is correct in the guild assertion. It's just to downplay the update, generally--with reasons why.

The title states my positon on this topic. I was like "New weapons and monsters!!!!! Oh bawls, just some more untouchable accessories.... :'(

We don't care about accessories. Your customers are not happy with your progress.
While accessories and pocket pets are nice to have, nothing's more important than focusing on other things!

It is a pain in the but to send individual messages. Accessories and pretties don't interest me. I can run jelly in my sleep.
Content please.
Becs

I really hope the next update is either that or the Core, accessories are cute but i can't even remember when was the last real content update :(

There was a post I made back in June or so on on my last account Bebopx about adding guild features like guild message boards & features where we can comment and so on. No one really cared for what I had to say back then since the population was low. But I never care for anything these days, not when I have my sweet loveable best friend over here! They didn't hear me back then then hopefully with more people wanting this they'll hear you guys instead. My posts are never accurate anyways so I shouldn't be one to talk.

> Eury, I know you are stuck in a position where you have to put a positive spin on things, but being a guild master and having to send individual mail to all of your members to organize anything is getting old. I don't see how saying there is development going on behind the scenes that doesn't involve today's release can be counted as "spin." It's a fact. There's stuff that we're simply not ready to talk about yet.
I understand how that's frustrating to hear, and it's frustrating to wait for information (and especially to wait for a long time) on something you want. Hell, I personally get hacked off while waiting for info on non-OOO games that I play. It's fine to be vocal about your impatience, but it's also disingenuous to assert that nothing you want will ever happen in SK again--that clearly the game staff doesn't care, otherwise the feature you want would be available yesterday. And it's also not a great idea to decide, without knowing the internal intricacies of a project, that any particular feature would be "very simple" to implement. I know you wouldn't want me to come to your place of work and tell you what I think is "very simple" and could be done in an instant if only you cared enough to make it so.
I don't think I can rightly ask for your patience here; that's clearly worn thin. Instead, I would ask for your understanding that you do not, and sometimes *cannot*, have all the information you would need to make accurate conclusions about what is and is not in the pipeline. We give what info we can in the "What's in Development" posts periodically. Presenting your speculations as fact is counterproductive for everyone, and it also runs the risk of making you look silly later if and when your assumptions are proven wrong.

I'm agreeing with a lot of posts here. Besides the P2P missions, the only new 'gameplay features' we've gotten recently are Drones. Sure crown sinks are important, but I'd still like to see a change from the /endless/ accessory releases.
Edit: Not to say it isn't in the works, as Eury points out. Just that it's been a long wait with no variation in-between.

They are probably working on something big, and these small updates are to keep us entertained until it's finished.
Who knows? I don't!

I just did a thorough search of Sev's/Mwa's/My thread for your name and it didn't show up. So I'm going to assume you are not yet aware of the
Guild Hall Megathread, or my comments regarding Developer Movement on the same thread.
I worked hard on the wiki for a long time while Minecraft was in beta, and was quite interested in what things the developers focused on. Sure, they weren't on a deadline like most developers, but the evident "long term project while releasing other filler stuff" strategy was still evident.
That mission update was the last "large scale project". It's been a short while, it's possible that we have another month or two before we see the next big update. That doesn't mean that the developers can't feed us fishfood in the time being: equipment balances, new accessories and minor gameplay mechanics and tweaks etc. Developers generally take small but good/highly demanded suggestions from the suggestions forum. If you want to have an impact on the game, go there.

> I don't see how saying there is development going on behind the scenes that doesn't involve today's release can be counted as "spin." It's a fact. There's stuff that we're simply not ready to talk about yet
Sorry Eury, I think that probably came out wrong from my side of things. The intended meaning was a general thing as well, with regards to talking about upcoming items, etc... We know there is little you can say that we don't already know, and I don't envy your position as Community Manager, IE the one who gets to hear from us and interact with us directly.
> And it's also not a great idea to decide, without knowing the internal intricacies of a project, that any particular feature would be "very simple" to implement. Honestly, this is what i get for posting from work. I didn't take the time to reread my post and edit it, like i usually would from home. My place of work is a bank, and I don't usually have the time to post more than a short answer here or there. I will rephrase what I intended:
With regards to guildhalls and the possible implementations, if this stuff was around pre-launch, are you able/allowed to tell us why it was removed when the game went live? I'm not a game developer, nor do I have a great understanding of how it works, so a simple "it didnt fit/wasn't polished enough etc" would do for me. Should you not be able to provide an answer, I understand as well.
> Please, heed our requests to improve the game. I can't justify my spending on this game anymore, i'm dropping money to make myself pretty, but I'm done. This came off wrong... very wrong. First off, it sounds like I'm threatening to pull my support/quit/etc from the game. I'm not. This is the only MMO I play, and I enjoy spending my free time in it. I'd ask that you disregard this portion, and only note that the request to add guild mail is important to me, for what it's worth.
TL;DR Sorry Eury, didn't intend to tell you guys how to do your jobs, only meant to express what I felt was important, and to support Jen's request for guild hall improvements.
Back when we were given the dragon wing set I got all excited because it was my second special deal and they looke cool, the first being the fabulously cheap elevator passes. Then I learned we would only have a percentage of getting good stuff, a great way for OOO to make money off people buying multiple sets. Since then I have drifted away from the game with its lack of good content. There was the Crimson Order dlc which was fun, and made sense to cost money, but all these costumes coming out and a lack of things to do with other people simply make it a dull game. Now pets, a year into the game, come out before the guild is much more than a friends list with a meeting place? If mirrored lockboxes had a decent chance of coming up I might have come back, but not really gonna happen.
It makes sense that the crimson order costs money. It's gameplay. I guess I can understand why all the accesories cost money, but I felt really ripped off when I spent twenty dollars on two dusky dragon wings and some ce, and could only speculate at how much I would need to spend to get prismatic or volcanic.
My favorite is when people think the same people who make accessories make new content and code.

"It makes sense that the crimson order costs money. It's gameplay."
...? Wouldn't it be the other way around? We have every single area minus Shadow Lairs free... so the newest dungeon (because SLs are "hero mode") must be unreachable without paying? I still can't get it.
we can just play all the new dungeons while waiting for guildhall updates :)
oh wait....
no, we can't. more costumes, more no new content.
