It would be faster than a cutter and deals a slightly less amount of damage than a regular cutter.
It would have a shorter range of course.
You can still equip a shield since the claws are held or on a glove.
The charge attack would either be a barrage of scratches or (like a cobalt sword) by spinning.
I know it sounds stupid but I just thought about it.
Claws
want gauntlets on the game?
i already made one thread about it
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/76025
(i'm not good to give names to the weapons... i know)
.
if you wish to proceed, give more details, or at least, some new unique features
example:
your claw can poison? can make "living things" bleed? grab some light opponents? what damage type?(claw, in general, can be linked with piercing)...
copy and paste the attack pattern of other weapons is not good, remember
even Fangs of Vog have his unique feature: besides have the same attack pattern and charged attack of the calibur line, burn opponents easily, powerful charged attack with 4 hits (but can burn the wielder) and have slower attack speed
This would best work as a reskin in the same vein as the Scissor Blade...
@Klipik
To be honest, I never read those before. Glad I'm not the only one. I felt like I was gonna get hated for this actually. Really hated.
@Zeyez
You know, those are actually some good ideas. Maybe it would be best if the claws stay as piercing. Bleeding sounds like a good way of damaging the enemy very slowly. On another note, different claws mean different charge attacks like let's say after charging the claw you could have something like alternating scratch marks flying through the air like a spur's charge attack except it hits 3 times and has a shorter range. Ideas and suggestions like yours would be really nice.
@Zeddy
Gaunlet. Like all the players Klipik just mentioned (and himself). It would obviously be lighter and you'd be using both of your hands. Another thing is I like cats. This would be perfect for cat lovers and people who want to go all Wolverine on other players. Or enemies. My explanation sucks doesn't it.
Please don't hate.
but can't inflict this on construct/undeads
anyway, i'm just throwing some ideas...
ah, poison can fit on claw-type weapons too
There is no other weapon-inflictable status which entire monster families are immune to. And the one status that a large number of monsters are immune to is only inflicted by a weapon that you wouldn't use on those monsters anyway.
While I'm not opposed to the weapon type, I think you would be VERY disappointed if you had the weapon do less damage than a cutter.
1.) The cutter itself already does so little damage that it is immediately outclassed by everything. Fast attack speed and long combos are nice, but the lack of damage is far too small as it is now to be practical - chances are, a weapon that does even less than a cutter would probably be like a winmillion in terms of damage. This doesn't even cover PvP, where frames will make it even more useless by limiting the number of hits allowed on opposing players - attacks that would typically make up for the poor damage would not register at all.
2.) This would make it have to compete with cutters - meaning one or the other would be rendered totally useless as one or the other fills out the "fast-but-weak" niche in melee weapons better.
Just a heads up: be careful what you wish for here in SK. Nick & the devs work more like a Monkey's Paw than some kind of "request genie".
How about for the charge attack, the player would jump forward 4-5 squares and deal heavy(er) damage?
I should be ashamed huh?
/sulks in a corner
What role would it fill not already occupied by cutter?
