Can someone plz dumb down dark's words alittle bit? I really don't understand what I did wrong?
Skylark Down RP (discussion thread)(apps open)
Certainly.
You have done nothing wrong. It was a warning to refrain from using Nezula in a way that would infringe on the GMs' powers, considering the increased risk she poses in that regard.
One thing you may possess that I do not is the ability to focus on your character. Being the GM with the duty to guide the stories of all the game's characters, I cannot afford to focus on the battle sprite. However, if the battle sprite's interactions are limited, I do not believe that I will need to focus on that character; I can afford to handle the character without substantially reducing my ability to handle the others.
Thus, your skills with that character would theoretically be wasted on the battle sprite, barring other considerations.
Some other characters, such as Dejah Thoris or Diavolo Sintaris, have no such problem, because they are important characters requiring the full skill and focus of a dedicated roleplayer. This is the primary reason why I requested that you handle the former character (though, upon reflection, I believe both of them would be benefitted by your handling).
Working with some shit, outside of here. I am spliting my mind between Polynominals and SFM, and the RP. Give me a break.
If you're doing anything short of Calculus, I could probably help out. ^_^
Don't remind me. I will be doing Trigonometry next ._. Calculus is a dream for me. Basic Computer Programing revolves around math. So ya :/
(Darnit, Solaire...)
*Twiddles Thumbs*
I'll try not to be inactive when I can. (Please don't move the story forward TOO much by 4:00 pm, besides weekends)
Where am I in accordance with the others? (As in, Haven, Solo, And Affriel)
Topoyozariane's relative inactivity has me concerned.
Liminori, your recon app is accepted. See what you can do about interacting with Solomon. ;)
Indeed. I think Topoyozariane has slipped back into the great world of reality once more. CURSE YOU REALITY!
You are on the Skylark, minutes before it enters Cradle's atmosphere. Better get to your escape pod. ;)
In that case, I'll gladly take Dejah; it's not every day you get to pretend you are the opposite gender, for a sane reason. Though Diavolo sounds like such a tantalizing character to play, hehe, "pervertedly chivalrous" that's one heck of a way to describe someone xD
Diavolo IS a tantalizing character to play. I'm going to have so much fun using him. >:)
Unless you decide to take him off my hands. ^_^
I have rules for extra NPC's that I create without really asking.
When a situation with possible death comes up, I must roll three dice.
2 odd/1 even = Death
1 odd/ 2 even = Survival
(One reroll of all dice per encounter thing)
Afterwards, I roll 4 dice to decide the severity of damage.
Scrapped: Too much thought going behind a npc, And besides, that didn't make sense whatsoever.
Wouldn't one die be easier?
odd=death
even=survival
Severity of damage:
1 or 2: none
3 or 4: minor
5 or 6: near death
As you can see, No real damage was done to them.
Removed a sentance due to repetition. (as she thought he was dead), "I thought you were dead you idiot"
If it's unclear, I would like to take Dejah's position, just tell me when and where to start; and on that note what exactly you want me to do with this lovely little fencer. :)
Ah, thank you, it was a bit unclear. :P
Your role shall be noted in the OP.
Feel free to introduce her however you like. She's designed to be rather versatile in that regard. She could introduce herself now as a friendly guide; she could introduce herself later by rescuing the characters as a big heroine; or she could play as a damsel in distress. I'll leave it up to you.
Sorry about the confusion, but man oh man. Oooh, all your options sound so exciting to do! Blahhh, too much awesomeness!
Um, how does the "semi-anti-hero" aspect work out? Does this mean she is actually in opposition to the protagonist Delta Squad? Or is she rather a neutral character, with no interest but to protect her (sort of) homeland? Are you planning to add other characters allied with Almire, or is she the only other soul* besides Vanaduke hailing from Almire?
OR am I overthinking everything far too greatly, and should just throw myself into the plot already? =P
By "semi-anti-hero" I mean that she can be a...scoundrel sometimes (darn cultural indoctrination makes me want to use the b-word). I was imagining her to be rather controlling of her friends, not the sort of person you want to make your girlfriend (unless you like that sort of thing). That would have been one of the main reasons Solomon will be inclined to stick with Evaria (when the choice becomes apparent to him, that is) - she's generally sweeter, despite her hardened shell of (naive) professionalism.
But yes, you're overthinking it a bit. :3
I take much pleasure in indulging myself within your admirable command of the English language.... o____o
"Unless you like that sort of thing"
Hmmm... You mean Mental Masochists? (Not insane, But the kind who like damage to their mind, rather than physical pain?)
@Hexlash: Why thank you. ^_^
@Liminori: I mean human males who enjoy the company and companionship of dominant women.
I went back to look at the description you posted of Dejah before I started, and I noticed that I had completely forgotten about her ability to weave, definitely can't neglect that! So on that note, what are the extent of her Weaving powers, and what form does she tend to prefer?
I hadn't actually given much thought to her weaving powers, but given her heritage, she is probably familiar with light- or aura-based weaves, including simple light creation, aura shielding, and divine projection (basically weaponized light). She may also be familiar with fire-based weaves, depending on her level of contact with Vog.
She sounds pretty sweet to me, despite retrieving urges from you to refer to her as a female Wolver, meh. Too bad it's so late (for me anyways) I'll try and get her into the plot 'two more oh'!
Night, all you peeps located in the vicinity of the Northern Hemisphere! And good day to those in the Southern Hemisphere!
I wonder if you shouldn't just do Schizo Fantasy here? You've seen to be taking a lot of elements from it and implementing them in your current RPs...
...but then again, OOO doesn't want a threaded view, so...oh boy.
Sorry for the inactivity. Being able to be posting in the day is because I am sick. Seriously. A high fever, a cough, sore throat and a runny nose. No matter, I'll post my case here.
Point #1: Females are relatively more small, more slebder than most boys. Therefore, it lets her pass through small gaps, and act virtually invisible even though she doesn't have her Recon Cloak.
Point #2: Being a female mostly lets her be underestimated by the Morai and Spiral Order alike, making her easier to defeat her enemies.
Point #3: I believe, making just 1 female in the squad, with the others male, isn't very comfortable with me.
Point #4: You know what? I'm done arguing. xD Can't think of anymore points. You know, if you want to change Mira in male, change her into Michael.
Um, I can debunk two points right off the bat Topo.
Point 1: Females are relatively more small, more slebder than most boys. Therefore, it lets her pass through small gaps, and act virtually invisible even though she doesn't have her Recon Cloak.
Counter Point 1: At most Females stand but a few inch's shorter then males, at worst maybe 6". This means they are just as visible as your or me, even more so since the eye naturally looks for lines. Slender body on a trained military body? Not saying it has not happened, but more times then none a Female Warrior is packed full of muscles, maybe not as defined, but still. Fantasy tells us that Women are strong slender and have curves. In reality if you saw some one like that we could say they have rickets and are more then likely held off at bay (What ever the hell that means). As stated before, the slender body makes there lines more visible to the eye thus the eye will be drawn to them. Mute point when it comes to such things like that.
Point 2: Being a female mostly lets her be underestimated by the Morai and Spiral Order alike, making her easier to defeat her enemies.
Counter Point 2: In a military setting all gender's are seen as equal. The moment you go into boot camp your genderless, race-less, color blind and have no difference from the person standing next to you. In other words, a female military operative can not be underestimated for they have the same training as everyone else who was with them. Also, if her own people underestimated her they would more then likely not have taken her in the first place. I hate to say it but point 2 is more sexist then was meant to sound. Not trying to be rude just saying.
Just a couple of things I wanted to run by you guys, (Thin mostly, but I decided it'd be fast/easier if I posted it here) Some things I'd like to do with Gorram
- An early engagement
- Wanted to go with a very early on engagement with the main character versus Gorram, show how he can't really fight/stand against him yet. Like a megaman X sort of thing that sets the stage for the future.
- War updates/Interactions with mother Theresa
- Give a sort of insight to how the soldiers hold her in high regards, and show how they perceive her (The happy side, not the evil side) and why they're ready to die for her
- Finale
- Really want an Ornstein and Smough feel to this one, with the main character's strength and progression to this point being the main focus. While a 1v2 would be ideal, I can understand that many hate to be cut out of the story (But a 2v5 isn't very interesting either. So, any chance The two could fight the main character with his allies either A. Fighting a separate battle, B. Holding back reinforcements, or C. Separated to the point where they could only offer marginal support/face a bigger problem (Need to lower a bridge before the floor collapses or something)
The second one seems fine, but that would be calling me into the RP a little early. Knowing what we know already we still have yet to introduce the normal villain first. This would be a better idea to retort later on when its astablished a villain. Remember, the Morai Legion respect her with the highest reguard, playing a mask of a mask is something she does everyday. But she has lashed out and killed people without reason, or over small things. Even with this they still respect her thus she can do anything she wants as long as she is kept in this high reguards.
That in mind, the Main Villain should be first, and proven he is a threat before bringing in the Arch Villain, other wise your making her look weak and nothing more then a second Main Villain. For if the Main Villain bows to the Arch Villain we are setting up in the Hero's minds and Player's minds that the Arch Villain has made even the Main Villain bow before her, a feet not so easily done let me tell you.
@Dmatter: Your app is accepted. The battle sprite is now yours to command.
@Blessid-Bombardier & Darkwatck: Having Gorram do battle with Solomon early on is an excellent idea. One rather pressing issue, however, is how we shall end the battle without dealing great injury or death to either party. The simplest method is to have Gorram called away (urgently) before he can finish the fight.
But I believe Darkwatck is correct - the main villain should be introduced before the arch villain. Furthermore, Gorram should be shown in subservience to Teresa in order to establish who is the greater villain. Depending on how this scene plays out, it may even introduce certain conflicts that further explore the characters of one or both villains. I can imagine Gorram reacting negatively to Teresa carrying out a whimsical death sentence, for example.
Yay! I'll get to work on posting once I get home.
I'll just wait for Edoloas to bump into me then? Or how would you like the meeting to happen? As for the "Battle" I don't plan to even swing the sword, just knock him around a little and decide he's not worth killing (Kinghtly code of honor stops him from killing Women and young ones....unless he is forced too)
P.S Still missing the main EEEEVIL part of the duo
I can handle Diavolo if need be, but I'd rather that be in the hands of another available player.
Oh well. No matter.
BB, you can begin your story, and I'll have Diavolo join up if nobody claims him by then.
Diavolo acts and sounds like a million skunks just swarmed him.
The guy is kind of a snob, if you didn't notice. ^_^
*Bump*
What happened, Did everything just decimate itself?
No, we are waiting. Mostly for Thinslayer for this is his story.
WHAT AM I WAITING FOR?!?! *grumble mumble-* Oh.
right. ehhhehe.
I'm still here, FYI. ^_^
Stuck in a temporary plot thicket. I have no story hooks to work off of, so moving forward will be a bit difficult, though not impossible.
Right now it would be best to let the characters explore the world, help them by defining whats around them. This will help set up the battle fields later. Once you do this it will be but a matter of time and waiting till you make Main Villain fight.
It will be simpler to get the lay of the land set up first ja?
Got a new story post up.
Allow me to provide a full breakdown of how the Lockdown Circuit works.
Its primary function is to preserve the human body as much as possible in the event of death so that revival via Spark of Life is possible. The most critical part of the body to preserve is the brain, because while other body parts can simply be regenerated, the brain is not nearly so simple. Brain cells can be regenerated, but that does nothing to preserve the person's thoughts or memories. Hence, a scanner periodically keeps backups of your brain state, so when your body is regenerated, it can use its mini energy-to-matter converter to restore your last saved brain state.
In the event you don't die when the Lockdown Circuit activates, it disconnects your senses and motor system from your brain so that you 1. play dead in front of your foes, 2. aren't in pain should you die shortly thereafter, and 3. don't exacerbate possible injuries by trying to move. This function is what the Lockdown Circuit is named after, since it "locks down" your body and prevents activity.
Certain types of armor, including the Plate and Cobalt series, have an additional function that polarizes the armor and "locks it down," minimizing any further damage. This function is typically activated at the same time as the Lockdown Circuit, so they are often confused with each other.
What happened to Evaria was a malfunction both the brain scanner and the energy-to-matter replicator. The scanner stopped working after the first scan (which occurred shortly after she donned the armor), and the replicator failed to activate when Solomon applied a Spark of Life, preventing her brain from doing anything meaningful with her body. When the gremlins repaired the replicator, the system loaded her last saved brain state (the time she donned her armor), leaving her completely and totally amnesic. She can never recover her lost memories.
Well we have established the playing field. But this makes life harder for her because I am sure the moment she dawned her suit was right after basic's. So anything she learned shortly after...Poof. Everyone she knew after that point...poof. You get the point.
What I was going to say is we have established a playing field. Lets expand on this a little. Currently we have the surface and level 1 of the Clockworks [Undefined] so lets start having some encounters with in the next 10/20 posts to keep the motion of the Story in check and flowing.
Sorry thin just trying to offer advice :L
Thinslayer, you have truly awed me. I'll have you know that the moment when I first realized what had happened to Evaria, I was utterly shocked and baffled. I've only ever received this feeling from a pretty emotional and well-written novel.
I cannot even convey how amazing that part was. By Isora's sakes I don't even have a freaking clue who Evaria is, but in the few short moments of her introduction, you were able to express her in such a way that I was honestly hurt when I- I can't even explain myself. Phenomenal.
Actually, though Evaria may not retain as experienced skills as she once possessed, her muscle memory will quickly relay back to her fighting movements and the like. Strategy may not come as easy though, because that is produced in the brain, but muscle memory is very natural, and it just integrates into people.
Evaria will very easily be able to relearn her motion abilities, but with the reconstruction of her memories, any non physical aspect should be lost.
Thanks Thinslayer, that means a lot! In any case, when you put it that way, you being kindred to many a great writer (have you ever considered being an author it something?) it's folly to say I could provide to your story, something you deem would best be executed in a different, and superior manner.
The only real thing I could offer is my own perception of the battle sprite and its specific interactions, that you may not have planned to do yourself.
