Is it the equivalent to a 5* defense bonus?

Asking about defensive UVs such as Elemental; I already know that status UV maximum = 5* status defense.

I've been being a bad girl & UV hunting to get the most rounded-out set I can to upgrade. I am doing pretty well money wise but I'm having trouble figuring out what UVs will benefit me the most. Here's what I have already:

- Dusker Hat (no UVs yet here)
- Striker (Shadow boost med.)
- Owlite Shield (Poison low)
Owlite Shield (none)
- Wolver Coat (still need Dusker recipe)

So my question is: What UVs should I look for shield wise & robe wise?

I got a free Owlite Shield from a treasure vault & I am wondering should I keep it, and see if it has any UVs or sell it?

today, I logged on to play SK, haven't played in a week, and i was excited to go PK farming, but when i got to moorcraft, i noticed taht the selaed looked WAY different. thought it was a glitch, so i waved it around a bit, thought it mightcahnge back. it didn't. now, it looks SO ugly, even though the dmg is the same. i like the older one better, cuz it looks way cooler. in LD, when u have striekr, and u start sprinting, ur SS starts shimmering and it looks way cool. OOO, please bring the old one back!

As of now, I'm planning on having Gran Faust, Argent Peacemaker, and Electron Vortex with Vog Coat, Barbarous Thorn Shield, and Divine Veil. This gives me a sword, gun, and bomb as well as a weapon with good effectiveness against anything other than Beast (and sort of constructs since Electron isn't a damage bomb). So, with that in mind, I wanted my last weapon to be good with Electron Vortex (which means it has to be a sword or bomb, but I prefer sword) that is good against Beasts and maybe Constructs. So, here are the weapons I was thinking of:

Wild Hunting Blade
Barbarous Thorn Blade

why voltedge very hard to sell.?
some people said that voltedge rare because the recipe we can get only played PvP
some people said it doesnt...why.?
i'd try to sell but no one want to buy it xD..can you guys give some explanation here.??

Any suggestions for a good shield to go with my Mercurial set?

I recently decided to make the shift to using swords, but I have never played with anything other than guns since I started. I'm looking for advice on the most efficient and energy conservative way to phase out my gear from gunner to swordsman, and I am also looking for tips on the sword play style, since I almost no experience with the weapons.
