So, recently we saw the sloom levels and OOO removed them again because they said that it was a "bug". I don't see a reason to keep this level away from us, the sleep status isn't broken(you won't heal up or loose that much hp if there is only 1, but you will get hit a lot when there are lumbers or other slimes, so that isn't a problem.
Add the sloom levels back for real this time.
When you fall asleep, getting hit will NOT wake you up? You will only wake after the timer expires, by which time you'll have been bludgeoned and zerg rushed by a bunch of ticked off slimes.
Isn't broken, you say?
You fall asleep and then a silversap attacks you, you lose 10 bars (With full vog), frozen and still asleep... No problems huh?
when my character fell asleep, he twitched uncontrollably and wouldn't wake up when things hit him
@ Creeperlucario
It isn't possible to have 2 separate statuses on the same floor, so you will never see a silversap on a sloom level.
As far as i know, slooms only spawn in that one level so you would only be fighting slimes and/or whatever would spawn in a lichen lair;the only thing that would be attacking you would be the slooms, which don't even attack fast enough to kill you in 4 seconds. And unless they reintroduce sloombargos, it would be rare to fall asleep from a sloom attack since it isn't 100% chance of status inflicting.
Sloom can be used as healing machine when in party. That's why it is broken.
I don't really care about the healing (since it's not that considerable) but it's basically just a clone of freeze but you can't attack or shield.
That was enough to really tick people off since you can't do anything except watch your character get their face smashed in by the next blow. (especially since Lumbers are a frequent denizen of Shrine of Slumbers)
As far as i know, the sleep status was removed because you could slowly heal up from it, which wouldn't be that much of a problem since both sloom levels aren't that challenging. Some people say that the sleep status would be deadly if there are lumbers, the same thing happens to ice lumbers.(Some status enemies can be very annoying, and OOO doesn't care about that anyways, so why not ?)
If you would wait for OOO to fix this, then say goodbye to it forever.
Tortodrones(might be added back)
Bomber Fix(No, gunners need a fix, bombers have every set and can do every level with bombs only)
Shard Bombs
Missing 5* line
Cobalt/Almirian line buff
Jelly Farm 2 room with the green giant jelly
Sloom Levels
That axe lumber
Sea Petral Pass(missing level from the aurora isles set)
So, I would rather have that back in game instead of OOO "trying to fix what's not broken" or better "Removing=Fix".
For the last time, the sleep status was removed because it was buggy and people raged about not being able to do anything for around 8 seconds as they were beaten up by Slooms and Lumbers (and probably would get sleeped again).
And your list:
Tortodrones - I agree that they should be added back, if only to make noobs realize they have to get better at playing.
Bomber Fix - Yes, bombers can technically do any level with only bombs. Kinda inconvenient though in IMF and on some boss levels.
Shard Bombs - Yep. Removed those invinciframes or at least lessen them.
Missing 5* line - GEE I WONDER WHAT 4* LINE WITHOUT A 5* STUFF IT COULD BE. Winmillion's 5* has been suggested dozens of times with no
response from the GM's. It's unlikely they'll heed it, especially with some of those peeps being "RAGEOMGICRAFTEDDISWINMILLIONANDNAOITJUNKOOOSTUPID".
Cobalt buff - Well, I personally think it should have moderate resistance towards all damage, being thus a jack-of-all trades.
Almirian buff - Yeah, Snarbolax armor pretty much outclasses Almirian Crusader stuff.
Jelly Farm 2 room with the green giant jelly - Although this would be fun, I think it shouldn't be added again. Nick mentioned that they removed it
because Recruits and the like were getting slaughtered by evil emerald elephant-sized enemies. Although maybe it could be re-implemented in tiers 2 and 3?
Sloom levels - Uh, did you read what a bunch of forumers said? You can do nothing for precious seconds as you get the snot beaten out of you. Oh look you healed 4 pips. YOU JUST LOST 37.
Dat Axe Lumber - Well, a similar-looking one is in the Unknown Passage, but they're pretty much reskins of normal Lumbers, simply stunning upon hit.
Sea Petal Pass - Y to the E to the S. I adore the Aurora Isles, as it's like a moment of calm and cheer before you go back to whacking anything moving repeatedly. And occasionally inanimate stuff too.
Except it is broken, both ways:
Just from testing some information on Sleep while the Starlight Cradle levels were around Sleep is actually over-powered no matter how you try to justify it and is just too much like Freeze just with much more drawback for terrible health regeneration.
To compare:
FREEZE:
*Most Monsters inflict Moderate Freeze. In rare cases, Elite-Class monsters inflict Strong Freeze.
*Once frozen, the player is immobile but can attack in whichever direction they are facing.
*Can be broken free by teammates.
*Cannot be knocked-back.
SLEEP:
*Slooms and Sloombargo's inflict Moderate Sleep.
*Sleep causes the player to not preform any actions and cannot be woken up. There is an exception to this rule, if you have at least 3 units of Sleep Resistance, monster attacks will wake you up.
*When asleep, the player will slowly regain health at 0.25 Pips of Health after the 4th second, and 0.5 Pips of Health after the 5th until awoken. (I don't know if this is how it was in Beta, so correct me on this if it was different)
*Cannot be knocked-back.
As you can see, it's decently related to Freeze except that Sleep won't help you in any given way. Even with Maximum Sleep Weakness via Ancient Plate Set, the Timer is increased to 9 Seconds at maximum, healing 2.75HP which is horrible considering that the Slime Family would be inflicting about 5< Pips of Health per hit.
So no, it shouldn't be added back. It's way too broken.
The axe lumber could be added as a buffed version of the lumber(as far as the wiki knows, it's way bigger and has a axe=more damage).
Simple way to fix sleep:
Wake up after you get hit from something(isn't that how it worked when the sloom level got leaked again ?)
Then it would be a clone of freeze, which EVERYONE totally needs. And it would be better than freeze, as you would even heal health! Fine, it might be worse for bombers than freeze would be.
I wasn't around when Slooms were part of the Clockworks and I didn't get to experience the short time they came back, but it does sound like Sleep is way too unbalanced to be part of the game. Remove healing and wake up after a hit, you've basically got a stronger Freeze variant which renders you completely helpless, and removing Sleep at all would render Slooms redundant.
Since Sloom levels are too popular to be scrapped entirely, what other options are there?
We could have the sleep status slightly darken your vision as you get drowsier. Getting hit with stronger versions could also make you slower, like stun.
But we already have a stun, and I don't think the vision thing is that good (turn up brightness, win).
Either re-work Sleep to where it's not like freeze, or turn it into a completely new status. I suggest the latter though. There have been plenty of suggestions to replace Sleep with Blind, etc. I honestly think they should turn it into Hex. Non-typed Explosion Damage that Decreases/Increases based on Resistance.
Here is a adequate excuse to bring back slooms: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/93631
Oh look, someone mentioned finding a new status to replace sleep. I'll just leave this here.
*scampers off*
Here is a adequate excuse to bring back slooms
Putting them in more places doesn't make an adequate excuse, it just makes the brokenness of them more apparent.
And people want the Shrine of Slumber back, not just Slooms.
I would like to have sloom Levels back because I love Aurora Island like Levels and the sloom leves got a relaxing thematic.
I wouldn't mind about the cons.
Btw: I tried to encourage players for this before:
http://forums.spiralknights.com/de/node/92035
Slooms have pros and cons, and why not leave it like that, as a "ultimate" status, people would get jelly sets for that.
because then the status should be renamed to "instadeath", cause that will happen.
first, balance sleep. then, talk about levels.
People get jelly sets for one status defense? I mean really, if you want piercing defense, almost everyone gets Skolver. But craft another set JUST FOR ONE STATUS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE CAUSE YOUR DEATH?! You can't even use a Remedy Capsule!
Yep. It's comparable to giving everyone free shivermists in Lockdown, but not giving them Skolver Coats to resist it.
How about making it the inverse of Freeze, across the other side of Stun? It'd turn it into a status that allows you to move full speed ahead (sleepwalking), but removes your ability to attack (or, in a drowsy state, you can attack but deal no damage). Slooms would have a slightly higher damage to compensate (more than any other status lichen, but less than a status-less lichen of the same size), and it'd turn into a status that tells you that you need to get out of the way of the battle, making you unable to help, but still giving you the direct access of shifting your rear end out of the way of the monsters. As opposed to Stun, which lowers your speed and reduces fleeing effectiveness, but still allows you to deal a bit of damage if push comes to shove, or further still opposed to Freeze, where you simply cannot run but can still attack reasonably well. Unless an enemy is behind you, but in that case you can turn around at the cost of a bit of health to slap them out of the way too.
How about this:
If you get hit and get the sleep status, your movement stops, if you get hit you wake up, while sleeping you regenerate health.
Not sure how it is now, but some people say that you wake up when you get hit and some say that you don't.
This status is only for 2 levels(and rarely monster boxes if OOO adds slooms to that again). Compound is also a very annoying level because of the small mobs, does everyone complain about them ? no, so why not add the slooms back ?
Balancing Sleep is ok, but there is no way to test the "fix" since there aren't any levels.
-1, for good reason.
"OOO will probably balance it."
Bahahaha.
@Blitzsonic
If you get hit and get the sleep status, your movement stops, if you get hit you wake up, while sleeping you regenerate health.
Then it's still an overpowered version of freeze, you've still failed to fix that.
Not sure how it is now, but some people say that you wake up when you get hit and some say that you don't.
It's been explained on this thread, yet you continue to blatantly ignore everyone else's posts.
does everyone complain about them ? no
Wow. You are so misinformed.
Everyone and their dog complains about Compounds. Everyone except people with bombs, that is:

so why not add the slooms back ?
Because of just about everything that's been stated on this thread about Slooms being stupid and you haven't brought up anything at all to even begin countering all the absolute brokenness of it that was nicely laid out for you in Post #10
Having no way to test the mechanics=no way find a possible solution, the levels aren't the problem, the statuses are.(this would be like removing compound, while the mini mobs are the problem, exept everyone would be happy)
I don't think it's possible to change the sleep status so that it doesn't work like freeze(might make sense because ice queen armor has sleep resistance changed, compared to royal jelly armor).
Having no way to test the mechanics=no way find a possible solution,
You don't need to play something that's horrendously broken in order to know it's broken, you can just look at its stats.
the levels aren't the problem, the statuses are.(this would be like removing compound, while the mini mobs are the problem, exept everyone would be happy)
But like the sleep status, the minis only show up on one level, so the level itself can be labelled as problematic.
Royal Jelly Mail has just been left in the game because it's one of Three Ring's long-standing projects that they've yet to finish, like Tortodrones and the Iron Slug.

Actually, sleep status is a bit unbalanced. OOO will probably balance it.
