The Torchbellow political elite is wary about getting involved in any war the Tinkinzic Clans are involved in; the Torchbellow have long remained an independent clan and it's likely we'd lose that if we took one side or the other in anything relating to the conflict. The opinion on said conflict in the Refuge is largely split as well- in the public eye, both sides have taken questionable actions, and the common perception is that bureaucracy on both sides is keeping the war going."
"Ethical concerns aside, starting a war with hi-tech spacefarers would obviously make them mad, and the Strangers as well- Haven is one of their key ancestral homes. We can't afford to fight either of them when there's already confirmed Swarm incursions that have to be dealt with. Best to just disable the ship and figure out what to do with it once we've reverse-engineered it."
"Anyway, keep that pace going. You should be... just 50 meters off."
From your vantage point, you can see the Thaargan crash site. Their ship- an enormous vessel made to hold thousands of passengers and prisoners, and a great wealth of plunder besides- is clearly identifiable by the grinning six-eyed skull embossed on the nose. The Thaargan are out in force, but they're fighting a losing battle against the combination of the Machinauts' battle lines and Geonid Gem Wall support. However, a number of automatic turrets are slowing the Machinaut vanguard's advance to a crawl. And if that ship takes off and releases its payload, it'll all be for nothing...
"Okay, stand back a bit. Recons should have your opening soon- it'll be straight ahead from your position, just out of range of the side guns. ...Huh. A word of warning. The Farsor Number Machinauts are moving toward Viduur's position as well, but recons bugged out to avoid being seen, so they couldn't tell whether they're reinforcing him or confronting him. Stay cautious."
"One way or another," KV-103 replied, "The traitor machinauts will suffer for their treachery. And Viduur too will answer for his transgression, machinauts, READY YOUR WEAPONS and prepare for boarding action!"

Me: "On the subject of the fallen king's idea to nuke 'em..."
Ignem: "It's ridiculous farce and I hate it."
Me: "Ehh..I think it'd be funny to see what happens when we derail a campaign. Spoiler alert: Tables are flipped, keyboards are broken and Hendersons are summoned."

Ignem: "Besides, I'd go ahead and nuke Voyna if I was given the carte blanche to do so."

I unsheathed my Swift Flourish, preparing for battle.
"So, this is it, huh? We've got to stop that thing from taking off and causing mass destruction. Get ready. Failure is not option." I said.

Thrynn seems to be in a weird mood.
"So, what first- Thaargan bacon, or stew?"

You rush across the field just as the main force fires an array of flashy energy attacks. They don't do much, but they look like they do, causing the Thaargan to focus on them while you charge in.
From the side of the ship, an escape pod drops into the ground, landing with a loud THUD. As you approach, a retractable ladder falls from the pod's deployment chute, which you climb to get into the ship. A Recon Machinaut on the other end salutes, then cloaks out- he's got other work to do to keep this ship on the ground.
The ship's hallways are simple enough to navigate, and vestiges of its previous state as the fancy personal transportation of Gol-Kator and his Imperial Guard remain- but they've mostly been repurposed by the pirates, and the sides have seen better days. As you approach the engine room, however, you begin to notice certain parts of the ship are spotlessly, obsessively cleaned- and a few red stains are still visible even through that.
You enter the engine room through the southwest corner- just as the Farsor Numbers arrive through the north entrance. Viduur observes your approach with disdain. "Hmph. I figured you'd show up. Let me guess- Lharrig finally got his, didn't he?" Viduur sighs, annoyed. "Can't say he deserved any less. All he ever thought about was how to blow things up- he was destined to fail eventually."
"No, pragmatism is the order of the day. It's clear that I'll profit the most from allying with those who want the Refuge destroyed- because if you think this will be my last trip to Cradle, you'd be wrong. Cradle is far from the jurisdiction of most spacefaring nations, and all I need to do to start building my own empire is claim it. I'll take the plunder we still have, sell it to build a ship crewed by your brand of Alchemy-based Constructs- and shielded against that irritating surface laser, for good measure. Then I'll bombard anyone who opposes my rule from orbit!"
Viduur's turrets whirl about to face you. "My empire has no need for dumb muscle, and that's the only name that really fits you, isn't it? Now quit wasting my time and drop dead."

Faidra retracted the buster and turned to the DFNs. "... Why are you here? What did you need to kill Viduur for?"
「Hmph.」Trezfa crossed his arms.「We have no reason to tell you.」
《We~ll,》Harfly chimed in,《We could tell you, since I am so nice.》At this, Trezfa scoffed, Vex shook his head, and Grojas merely looked away. Harfly pretended not to notice.
《Let's just say our master has a bit of a soft spot for his people. You know what I'm talking about, right, Sertak Numbers?》She shrugged.《Of course, helping them now isn't going to forgive all the lives he's taken over the years, would it?》
「Harfly,」Trezfa stopped her.「That's enough. Master expects us to return with a full report soon.」
"Target down. We've successfully thwarted the plot." I said, sheathing my Swift Flourish. I turned and looked at the DFNs after overhearing their discussions.
"Master? Who's your master?" I asked out of curiosity.

Anyway, I think I'll want a recap on the story. I will join in, but not right after all the action, that would just be awkward. I'd like to know a few things, tough:
- Are you going to bring the Spiral Order in soon? I ask this because I know a little gap that you could fit the Order trough that relates to PAD, or rather the Cannon Puppy he had that got hi-jacked by an Isorian Battle Sprite, back in the Mardrux incident. It's nothing abrasive, just a little ''lead'' that the team could follow to get closer to the Isorians. For whatever reasons they would do so...
- Something that would be abrasive would be a re-entrance of Mute that happened to involve explosions. If you could give me a sudden "evacuate immediately!" and a big wall blocking the Machinauts' exit, maybe I could make a slightly more interesting comeback than an airdrop.....
- Greetings, Mech-Shiki! Those are some mad mach's you've got. Dat Ice Storm Rod. I want it.
- With that said, I also must apologize for dissapearing again. I need to stop doing that. I dissapeared from Clockwork Heroes, and I should consider myself lucky I can still come in here. You're doing a great job keeping this RP going, Doc.)

@Magmaul: I can see a few events occuring related to the Sp'Knights in chapter 4, but for the most part we'll mainly see them in Chapter 5.
So... by abrasive, do you mean an entrance involving explosions would be good, or bad? The next sentence seems to imply good, but abrasive isn't always meant positively- just clearing it up.

Plot Recap from chapter 2 to now:
--Machinauts ran into Mardrux almost immediately upon setting foot in Depth 5. Mardrux throws them into the Cyber Zone.
--Machinauts meet Vein, the Geonid, and escort him safely to the Home Caves. On the way, they learn that the Home Caves are the main target of the Cyber Zone, falling under attack by players who, unbeknownst to anyone outside the stratum, are directing cyberspatial entities that attack the Geonids. It's no game to them.
--Machinauts defend the Home Caves from Cyber Zone attack. Despite this, one of Mardrux's minions sneaks through the line and through the Cyber Zone to pass the Geonids' barrier and steal a piece of their Heartstone, which is the source of their life. Mardrux then wipes out the Geonid scouts on Depth 7, and declares his intent to use the Heartstone piece to control the Geonids' minds.
--Machinauts fight their way through Mardrux's compound at Over The Road Disinformation Technology, battling an army of purloined Basic Mecha Knights controlling dummy accounts through the Cyber Zone, and eventually defeating the Multibox controlling the Mecha Knights.
--The Machinauts rendezvous with Nalki's account, Recurve, who points them toward Cyberspace residents tricked into serving Mardrux. Before long, said residents realize their error and point the Machinauts toward the source of the corruption.
--The Machinauts encounter the dreaded Polyboros, a terrifying four-headed demonic data dragon with extreme offensive power, living in the Cyber Zone; this is what Mardrux intends to use to control the minds of the Geonids, directly manipulating Polyboros itself through an enormous computer. However, word spreads fast, and players attack the heads; as they take damage, they grow unstable, and the Machinauts are able to detect the passwords that shut them down. The Dracolisk Mardrux was using as a battery for the computer escapes, taking the Heartstone shard back to the Geonids, while the Machinauts send Mardrux back where he came from, finding another audio log with "HEZ" embossed on it.
--Boost arrives in the Home Caves to sell the Machinauts new gear, and also brings his friend Celloh- who is visibly traumatized by what is quickly determined to be an encounter with the dreaded Swarm. Celloh has become sensitive to the presence of the Swarm; this saves Geonid general Regulus from an inky-black Geonid in his shape that attempts to kill him, but is easily thwarted by the Machinauts.
--Word arrives that the Refuge is under siege by the Thaargan Pirates; the once-cowardly Ninth Emperor Gol-Rataan has become much more aggressive. The Machinauts immediately return to assist the Refuge in its darkest hour, connecting via elevator to directly reach the Machinaut Storage Facility on Depth 3, where battle rages. This is also their first encounter with the Farsor Numbers; DFN-003 "Vex" attacks them on the elevator.
--Depth 3 has become a warzone; an impromptu fort housing Machinauts is seen under attack almost immediately. The Machinauts destroy the Gunhound attacking it, then defend it in a battle-by-champion against Thaargan lieutenant Targoth the Tortoise; Targoth surrenders, and- unusually for a pirate- he honors their agreement, demanding that his troops return to the surface.
--The Machinauts rush to defend three different allies. First, they reach the Machinaut Reserve Pods under attack by DFN-004 "Grojas" and a horde of Rocket Puppies; the Data Elemental they freed from Mardrux is there, and in return for saving it from servitude, it helps them quickly force Grojas's retreat.
--Next, the Machinauts hurry to aid MZT-017 "Atoner" against a strange assailant- a sinister entity with MZT-017's form that slowly drains his energy while mocking his decision to turn against the mad gremlin Zerezzil's programming. Though MZT-017 cannot attack this Mockery, he helps the Machinauts fight his underlings, and the Mockery is destroyed- but the presence of something so similar in nature to the Unknown Geonid that attacked Regulus is chilling...
--Finally, the Machinauts arrive just in time to save IS-22B's unit from a Thaargan Necromancer, Caaphis the Crow. The mad necromancer is destroyed, and the quadrant is quickly reclaimed, allowing the Machinauts to move forward; an ambush by MZT-002 "Harfly" puts them at risk, but they prevail, reaching the elevator to Depth 1 and the Refuge.
--On the way to the Refuge, the Machinauts come across Gremlin soldiers forced to obey Thaargan orders by strange, cycloptic helmets. These Subversion Helms are removed after the Thaargan Mech-Operators nearby are killed, and it's soon found out that Thaargan lieutenant Viduur, the Vulture, invented the helms with the help of a strange hooded gremlin...
--This hooded gremlin is soon seen- but not face-to-face. The gremlin flees, sacrificing his Gunhound, Charbroil, to make the escape. The name "Charbroil" quickly identifies the gremlin as the one in the first two HEZ audio logs. The Gremlins are quickly able to find a magnet tram that can take them right behind the Thaargan troops sieging the Refuge; on the way, the tram is attacked by DFN-001 "Trezfa", but escapes regardless.
--Viduur plans to attack the Refuge using Gremlins controlled by Subversion Helms to break the Autowall; as the Autowall is bound never to fire on a genuine Torchbellow soldier, it is helpless against them, and the Gremlins on the wall would be forced to stop them with traditional arms. With two such attacks under his belt, Viduur is ready to launch a third, but Targoth the Tortoise stops him, infuriated by what he sees as a dishonorable tactic. Targoth attacks Viduur on the spot, giving your team and Nautilus time to kill the Mech-Operators controlling the Gremlins and forcing the Thaargan to retreat; in an attempt to divert you from chasing him down, Viduur leaves behind a Gunhound that launches ballistic missiles into the Refuge, but it only manages to fire one salvo before the party brings it down.
--Just after getting their crafting done, the party is alerted to an unusual fire where the missile hit; they are able to staunch it by attacking the Antiflame, a strange entity living in the unnatural violet fire. A strange object is pulled from the rubble, and taken under heavy guard for study. Meanwhile, Elder Mendilex is fraught with worry over the safety of his daughter Nalki, who was on a Scrap Sector on the surface looking for machine parts when the Thaargan attack arrived.
--IS-M44 is assigned to the party- dubbed the "Advance Force" until further notice- and directs a hit-and-run attack on a labor camp where the Thaargan use slaves to gather Mist for nefarious purposes. Then, they move into Scrap Sector 33, where Nalki is still holding out, thanks to her science project: a Gunhound called Orion II. It's confirmed that Lharrig the Locust, the final Thaargan lieutenant, is headed for Nalki's location, intending to cave in the cavern Nalki's holding out in. D459-A7 holds off Lharrig, almost losing her own life in the process. But with Geonid reinforcements' help, Nalki is evacuated in time for "Dee-4" to bug out, and not long after, Lharrig is killed when he tries to level the Scrap Sector anyway.
--IS-M44 reports the reason for the Thaargan attack that scouts figured out: they plan to use the mist not only to leave, but also to energy-bomb the surface of Cradle, destroying the Refuge entirely! Nature turns out to be on the Machinauts' side, as a forest provides an effective flanking route to reach the ship; the only problem is another encounter with the Squishy Wizards, who thought they'd just found the Legendary Owlite Blade, Durandal. Alas, it is only the Fake Legendary Sword, Durandull, and the Wizards are forced to run away again.
--The Advance Force arrives just as the vanguard finally begins its siege of the Thaargan mothership. A recon Machinaut lets the Advance Force in by opening an escape pod hatch, allowing them to reach Viduur and bring him to justice. Now, only former Ninth Emperor Gol-Rataan awaits...))
"We'll see what the top brass says about 'em. Why'd they work for the Thaargan at first? Intel work, or something to do with DSN-001? They don't seem too fond of him. Anyway, if you can, recover some heart blocks- make sure the Farsor numbers don't turn on you, but don't try to eng-"
IS-M44's voice begins fading out. "-come in, Adva--some ki--interference------e carefu-" Your comm connections go offline as a number of monitors materialize from thin air, showing a gremlin's hood-obscured face through a flickering, smoky dark screen.
"Well then. He was useless. Ah, well... seems the satisfaction of vengeance will have to be put off for a while longer."
It's the hooded Gremlin! You can see him smiling just below his hood. "I suppose you plan on killing the Emperor now? Good luck with that. It wants the stronger faction for itself, you see... yes, you remember when I referred to it, don't you? You did purloin those logs I left behind- what was that, by the way? Stealing is hardly befitting the noble "Advance Force", after all."
"Now, I'm going to leave. It is going to give me trouble if I keep it waiting. But first..." The video feed on each monitor changes all at once. A date in the corner of the screen puts this about a few weeks before the attack on the Refuge, and you can see the Pirate Lord himself, slouching over his chair...
"Heh... they always say I'm a coward. What makes ya think... I'm going to listen to you?" Gol-Rataan looks drained, emaciated, even pathetic. "I've got Mist to get off this rock- and that's all I need..."
Another voice, like Gol-Rataan's- if Gol-Rataan had a sore throat and more of a chip on his shoulder- speaks over him. "More. More, Pirate Lord. You want a new empire, don't you? Just like the old one. I offer that power."
Gol-Rataan looks up, numbly stating, "Yes... yes, I need... power. More power. Then I'll... have everything... I desire..." Gol-Rataan, his voice devoid of emotion, states over and over, "Everything I desire... everything I desire..."
Finally, a shadowy figure identical in shape to Gol-Rataan- his Mockery, you realize, just like MZT-017's- materializes behind him, and for a moment, it stands there. Then, without warning, it draws a Lumberdirk in each hand and stabs Gol-Rataan in the back with all five arms.
Gol-Rataan roars, "No! You lie! You... l...ie..." The false Gol-Rataan fades away, but Gol-Rataan himself seems to flicker with some unnatural light. Not long after, the screens fade to static...
"...come in, Advance Force!" IS-M44 shouts over comms, "Turrets just appeared from behind. Swarm Turrets. And some of the dead Thaargan are being... assimilated as we speak... we need to find and kill the source, immediately! Give me a status report!"
{WARNING: Swarm forces inbound.}
I turned to look and see the Swarm manifesting around us. "Well, this is bad." I remarked, pulling out my Swift Flourish. "Prepare to engage the enemy."
SWARM ENERGY DETECTED: ENGAGING COMBAT PROTOCOLS
"So... the Thaargans are now lost to the swarm, fitting it seems that a band of thieves received such a brutal end," KV-103 lamented, "But death by swarm is not an end deserving by anyone, strong or weak, innocent or guilty, honest or deceitful. Machinauts, we will break through this shroud of darkness with a light that rivals a thousand suns! We are Cradle's torch, LET OUR ENEMIES FEEL OUR BELLOW!!!"
"Warp signals are being jammed," Grojas informed the others.
Harfly sighs.《Seems we're stuck here between these things and the Swarm. I call a continued truce with the Sertak Number and its... 'friends'.》
"Agreed."
Vex nods.
Trezfa is silent, before replying with「Only until we've rid of the Swarm. Then we leave.」
"I don't like having to work with the Farsor Numbers any more than we should," Maydra started, "but if it's to make it out intact, I'll allow it."
"Good," Faidra said, "because you aren't this chassis' host."
"Lost to the Swarm?" IS-M44 says, "They may well be... their leader, anyway. The pirates are more or less fighting against the Swarm targets- but it doesn't look like they're at your location... almost like they left the passage open for you to get to Gol-Rataan. Wonder why... Regardless, someone has to check it out. Advance Force, move out and watch the wall for traps."
You begin moving deeper into the vessel. And, sure enough, the way is open... on the way, you even see Heart Crates which are, on further scanning, untainted. Good- these'll help. But who left them there? Were they meant for the Thaargan, or were they left by that hooded Gremlin...
Maybe you should let IS-M44 know about that recording you just saw; in the meantime, you open these Heart Crates, as you'll need all the health you can get.
"We saw the hooded Gremlin again... on an unidentified holo-screen," KV-103 replied, "I am sure for certain now that the traitor machinauts are working for one of our own... adjutant, make sure all recon machinauts are safe and order them to keep track of DFNs if possible, I will not let them slip by just because we face a common enemy. I cant believe that Gol-taan would be crazy enough to bargain his soul away to the swarm, machinauts, rejuvenate yourselves, we have a mad king to dethrone..."
As KV-103 repaired itself, two strange shadows briefly appeared from the other end of the ship's hallway, a khaki Ultranaut much like himself and a gremlin in white garb watched his every move. Those two, although KV-103 had no recollection of seeing them in the past, a strange feel sparked inside his AI core, a sense of belonging, a sense of family, a sense of blissful oblivion.
"Come, brother, join us, become one with the dark..."
"Unit 2, I was wrong, we can't beat the swarm, we can only befriend it..."
"Such is the way of the swarm... to lie and misguide us... destroying it is the only way to avoid its influence..." KV-103 whispered to himself.
Something set into place in Thrynn's mind; Perhaps it was the sight of the Swarm, or what it had done, he felt enlightened.
"...Dagoon?" Thrynn mouthed.
"Receiving data stream..." KV-103 relayed the co-ordinates, "Maybe we should instead accommodate the ship and use it to bomb Haven as well? That would be two less xeno foes we have to deal with in the future."
---Commercial time---
Me: "You know, KV-103, I don't think Doc is going to let you hijack the plot, I mean, Thinslayer never let me do that so why would he?"
KV-103: "This 'GM' of yours and every machinauts in this strike force should know that my cause is just even if they don't want to admit it, would you let some alien that crashed onto your planet just wonder around and pillage for resource to craft more weapons of destruction?"
Me: "Well, I wouldn't mind if the alien in question is physically appealing..."
KV-103: "You would let them live just for looks?!"
Me: "Of course not, they should certainly leave after they got the resource they needed to repair whatever ship they crashed on."
KV-103: "And I think you and I both know how well the 'Skylark rebuilding program' is going for the Isorans now don't we?"
Me: "Five years and nothing to show for it, okay, fine, I see why you or anyone in your situation would be mad at them... but do keep in mind that they no longer have the manpower or the tools required to rebuild a ship anymore."
KV-103: "That has little to do with their activities in the clockwork, namely the killing of thousands of innocent Gremlins."
Me: "Fine you got me, spiral knights are actually evil despite how irritatingly upbeat they appears to be. This is why I like my SK fan fic grim dark."
