On the haven loading screen there is an albino bird thing that is flapping its wings instead of spinning them around like the ones behind it.
10 things you didn't know about Spiral Knights
is how they drop... watch the flying whirlybirds at haven, they do that every while
I just noticed there's rectangular holes behind the Arcade's stands where Sullivan, Feron, Wegner, and that empty one is. Only one of them is blocked off. Makes you wonder...
"10. There's lots of secrets in the game, many that we will unveil as we continue to develop the world. However there is one that players see every day that so far as we've seen, no one has ever figured it out. Curious!"
I have just noticed something quite peculiar in the Arcade. It is something that all would see, but not notice. I didn't even notice it until I was at a certain spot. Look at the Arcade floor by the entrances, sure looks like railroad (minecart) tracks to me on the floor with switches. Follow the tracks to either end of the Arcade and they lead into rubble.
Maybe it has something to do with that ghost track all the way to the left of Moorcroft...
So Haven, the Guild Hall and Moorcraft will be connected somehow? Perhaps an alt moorcraft which is exactly the same, but minus the elevators, to prevent circumventing the 200 crown cost on tier 2 trips without a prior tier 1 trip.
If you noticed the first letter of Spiral in the logo above is the same with the last letter in Knights in the same logo.I believe that means that the clockworks go to infinity and supports the Chaos theory.
Furthermore, the red cog in the symbol looks like a part of tank tracks so IMO there will be tanks in the game later.
Not to mention that the 2 seconds the game needs to start up is the same number with the 2 weapons we are allowed to use,so this must be secret
i think it has something to do with that place you can't get to in jelly farm. hmmm
Today I just saw the elevator on the core had a blue arrow and costed 10 energy ;o
@Gentle_man That hapens every time a gate goes out of circulation and expires while you are in it. I've seen it 5 times at least.
#10 secret must be the snipes that used to copy chat from us non stop!

there it is :O
I made my second character, Acid-Snows-Bank, and while going through the Crash site I found this:
http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198027898624/screenshot/57667987...
Sorry but thats just a glitch that happens sometimes when the gates change while your in the clockworks on a floor with the gate to haven, if you got in the elevator it would have taken you to haven most liekly, unless im missing something here.....
it might be the energy signal since its on most weapons, armor, shields, and helms. we see it everyday but dont pay much attention to it :D
Maybe the #10 is this (the minerals):

why have a fan under the water? that makes me very curious >_<
http://imageshack.us/f/26/spiral20110820191134.png
i think we will never know what is the #10.
But if you give a hint we will know :D
Interesting about that curious george thing, though i really doubt its that. it may be ...
hmmm....
who knows?
but the strangers do see mysterious. we need someone to play their voices backwards :(
lean towards it having something to do with strangers and snipes. Every stranger has snipes on its head and/or shoulders. EXCEPT the one in that little area you start in. Thats kind of strange.
also. I don't think this #10 secret is anything game changing. I think it is a yet to be explained secret involving the backstory and lore of haven, strangers, gun puppies, us knights, and how they all relate to one another.
I think it has to do with something that grows... :)
Nick has clearly tricked us all into actually looking at and APPRECIATING the hard work put into the design of the world, and discussing less noticed details of the game.
You sly devil, you!
Whether there is actually a secret or not, props to Nick for invoking a very entertaining and interesting thread.
Just thought of something everyone sees everyday.. (I know that works on the assumed false assumption of nick's post but still it would make more sense than anything else)
The chat box.
Secret commands maybe? Emoticon? Hidden things like in Yahoo chat or messenger.. perhaps someone can make their arms flap.
Also I will be putting this in suggestions at some point but Please Please Please Add /pushup =)
Also also honorable mention goes to whoever mentioned that the map of haven (in it's entirety) is the shape of a gun puppy.. this could be closer to the truth.. maps may have shapes and sizes that relate to the clockworks.
Edit : The Mecha Knights are magnetic - that's why coins . but not mats get sucked towards them - uhmm as for heat.. I dunno someone else explain that one please =p
tried to look for Imonom? (i think it might be something/nothing)
http://invo.jinr.ru/ginv/developer_en/imonom_8h-source.html
http://invo.jinr.ru/ginv/developer_en/imonom_8h.html
http://invo.jinr.ru/ginv/developer_en/classIMonomInterface.html
If it helps... use it, if not... don't.
(Trying to solve #2)
@Jygantic
There are a few hidden chat commands ;)
'Monomi' backwards is 'Imonom'...
Which can be broken into 'imo nom'...
Which can be interpreted as 'In my opinion, munch on something tasty.'
The only tasty item eluded to in the clockworks is Basil.
So clearly the stone puppy thinks we should eat dishes containing basil.
He is trying to tell us something - that the strangers aren't beings/robots at all, they are just plants.
Don't birds (snipes) like to sit on trees (plants)???
It all makes sense now.
This ^, my friends, is how to be a conspiracy theorist.
@Culture That is amazing Culture, you have made my day.
this is just a guess but in haven arcade i nothis that the walls look like paths sealed of by ice or walls coverd by ice is that it
omg it was the spiral thing ive notice it but never know what it was for lol XD
thous it have somthing to do with the elevator becouse i rly doudt that
10. There's lots of secrets in the game, many that we will unveil as we continue to develop the world. However there is one that players see every day that so far as we've seen, no one has ever figured it out. Curious!
UMM... in the Gremlins "Punch & Vise" place, in the background there was four swords, two simmilar to the brandish, one cutter and one broken troika... (the other "brandish" sword can be a Calibur) later in the pvp update, the troika and the brandish got a new family type,
there isn´t a new cutter and "Calibur" family yet but.... the most important (i guess) is a shield behind the swords, it have some type of hands holding a sphere with the energy symbol inside, similar to the titan gate symbol...
there is a gremlin shield in game and only can be obtained in a random drop, similar to the Quicksilver set before the Roarmulus update
also the pulsar and catalyzer are made by gremlins; the pulsar is "used by squads of Ironclaw soldiers". and the catalyzer is used on "Gremlin mining and demolition devices" so there are incomming new gremlin types
the sleep status is on more armours than creatures... so later we gonna have more monsters with this type of condition
(the Brute Jelly set have sleep resistance and i have a the theory about the boss rewards... i believe the equipment gained from boss tokens are made to use in others bosses)
there are two magikat-helm designs
but the most important stuff to me is... the snarbolax Recon Module, it says; """Before the crash the Skylark performed a partial scan of Cradle's surface that revealed what appeared to be a landscape composed of enormous parches of disparate terrain. The Clockworks are a manufactured place, perhaps the worlds they contain are harvested from the terrain above. But how?"""
i guess this says that the exploration gonna continue later in the surface of the planet, for some reason... ¿to find the Skylark?
the surface of the planet have mountains and clouds... the clouds can be "artificial floating levels" to connect the knights with the weird gravimetric compass
also there can be more cities on the surface... we go to heaven because there is the spiral knights base but the strangers are there before us and nobody said that there is no more cities
"also the pulsar and catalyzer are made by gremlins; the pulsar is "used by squads of Ironclaw soldiers". and the catalyzer is used on "Gremlin mining and demolition devices" so there are incomming new gremlin types"
Nah. Ironclaw gremlins are just Tier 2 Gremlins. (Tier 1 are Tenderfoot gremlins and Tier 3 are Darkfang Gremlins). And Gremlin Demolitionists are already in the game. They're the annoying ones that hop around planting and throwing those wind-up bombs.
Moar less-obvious stuff:
There are at least two Stranger shopkeepers that wear backbacks (Basil and Greave). If you look closely, the backpack consists of a sleeping bag and... a green treasure box! Guess it was more practical to loot the whole box and keep it as a container for future loot, rather than carrying a separate bag.
Mecha Knights' and Retrodes' cylindrical heads bear a slight resemblance to Ian's mechanical angels. This might just be how he likes to draw mechanical humanoid creatures, though. Still, given the "Avatar/Nemesis" idea, plus Phantoms being very player-like monsters that relentlessly stalk the team, plus Mecha Knights that slightly resemble Ian's angels and that Mecha Knights can be recruited to the players' side (and that even enemy mecha knights register hit detection against other enemies), I can't help but wonder if Phantoms came from Nemeses and Mecha Knights came from Avatars.
To this day I have not figured out if there is any pattern to the colors on the recipe icons.
There are multiple Energetic Knights in Haven. Either they're all excited about the exact same thing, or it's one guy who's so energetic he can sprint to your next destination while you're still on the loading screen.
There is only one interactable Gremlin in Emberlight (the General Goods vendor, whose hood and mask remind me of Resident Evil 4's Merchant). All the others are out of reach. Until Brinks earned his Tier 3 clearance, that vendor was the only interactable NPC past the barrier from Tier 2.
Brinks is the only Spiral Knight in Moorcroft and Emberlight. Kozma and the Spiral Wardens always wait outside. (Wait, maybe Brinks should be outside too? Kozma is always by the alchemy machine so you can get a recipe and build it immediately if that's what's holding you back from tier clearance-- perhaps Brinks' token trading services would be helpful towards that purpose... but only if he's on Kozma's side of the barrier.)
You can hear monster sounds amongst the generic cheers in Blast Network whenever someone blows up. Listen for the loud "sighing" of Zombies and the "growling" (snarling? barking? grunting?) of Gremlins.
Many guns 2* and up have a stock attached under the grip. Almost nobody notices this (probably due to the top-down camera angle and that the inventory icons lack this feature).
There is now one turret creature for each token type (Primal, Grim, Forge). Now we could use a Primal-based healing creature, as we've got a Forge one in Menders and a Grim one in Silkwings; Silkwings frequently double as the Primal one due to their butterfly shape. Damage types also correspond to their token types; Primal creatures attack with Piercing, Forge creatures attack with Elemental, and Grim creatures attack with Shadow.
Did you see Vanaduke's flag in the palace? Did you? Really? If dear Vana's flag is there who do you think owned it?
I haven't read every post, so I don't know if anyone's mentioned it. But aren't we Constructs? here's what I think. King Tinkinzar is an intergalactic mechanical genius who created us to be shipped to Cradle. But.. we went haywire in the crash, deciding to fight all those monsters in the ClockWorks on our quest to find out all the secrets.
If the elevators take us deeper into Cradle, how is it we arrive in the Sky Islands? O.o (probably a design flaw but whatever)
@Gigafreak
The handgun stocks look really awkward in my opinion. Especially on the Magnus and Antigua lines (or some of them at least).
"If the elevators take us deeper into Cradle, how is it we arrive in the Sky Islands? O.o (probably a design flaw but whatever)"
Those islands aren't in the sky. You can see mechanical seams in the background and a big glowing lens on a revolving arm for the sun. That "sky" is just a blue wallpaper with clouds painted on.
Besides, if a cave can be in the sky, then sky islands can be underground. It's only fair.
Whoops, my bad. :P
I always play with low graphics settings so I don't pay much attention to the blurry backgrounds.
uhhh, well people have been talking about the aurora isles and stuff, which reminded me about the run that squishat and I did a long time ago, it was either in t1 or t2, with small floating islands and a breakable block on it. You could shoot them down, and when we shot through a gap in the crumbling wall, we found a gear switch, which opened to a new area with boxes I think.. That was a long time ago =_=".
@mieulim
This thread has been through that already. You just described Aurora Isles: Stone Grove.
http://media.spiralknights.com/wiki-images/9/92/Map_Aurora_Isles_Stone_G...
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Aurora_Isles
I think they removed it from the game. ):
@Gigafreak

there is no soldier gremlin in the game... also the demos... yeah, they throw granades but they don´t look like miners
In the unlikely event that "curious" was intended as a clue, the first connection I would make would be to the Gloamy Wildwoods.
Which probably says more about my own biases than anything else, but there you go.
"also the demos... yeah, they throw granades but they don´t look like miners"
Mining was one of the very first purposes for dynamite.
The Gremlins are responsible for most of the excavation and construction that goes on in the Clockworks-- all of the Gremlins are equipped for construction or excavation! Gremlin Thwackers' hammers are backwards wrenches; Scorchers' flamethrowers are weaponized blowtorches; Menders are first aid, repairs, and maintenance (and their wands are also wrenches), and the Demos blast new pathways through the bedrock or demolish abandoned structures (Deconstruction Zones).
The Gremlin Demo is both their soldier and their miner. In the clockworks, you kind of have to be both at once.
I dunno if this so much a secret as an easter egg, but I've noticed something interesting pertaining to the Strangers hanging around in both the Town Square and the Bazaar: their names all seem to have some significance. Here--I'll even provide a handy little list that I whipped up.
In the Town Square, there's...
Warnel, who gives the warning, "Please be careful not to step on any of the snipes, little one."
Hailoh, who stands at the entrance and greets knights. This one's obvious: his name sounds similar to "hello".
Bootshuze, the one with black and white snipes near the alchemy machine, is the only one in the Town Square that gives me trouble. What his name could mean besides "boot" and "shoes"... I don't know. Is it an anagram of something? I'm pretty certain it's not, but if someone can see one, then awesome. But yeah, none of his dialogue has anything to do with footwear.
(There's Keston, too, the knight outside the Training Hall. Not a stranger, but his name is an anagram of "tokens".)
And in the Bazaar, there's...
Quillion and Ricasso, the weapons merchants. Quillion is a type of dagger, while ricasso is part of a sword or knife blade.
Vatel, the recipe vendor. Perhaps named for famous chef, François Vatel? (Also, the story says that Punch and Vise kicked Vatel out of his old space and forced him to move his shop elsewhere. Such a defeat reinforces my belief that he may be named after a Frenchman. :p)
Greave and Kragen, the armour merchants. A greave is a piece of armour that protects the leg. As for Kragen... I'm kind of stumped. The only thing I could come up with for that one is a former defensive football player named Greg Kragen. Defense? Armour? I feel like that may be too much of a stretch, though. (Kragen is also an auto parts line/store. Any relation whatsoever?)
Another neat little subtlety: all the vendors have designs representing their wares on their faces. Vatel's is a potion bottle, Quillion and Ricasso's are swords, and Greave and Kragen's are shields!
Just thought I'd share. :3
I think 10 is this:
In the arcade, between the far right wall and the last dormant gate,
sometimes there is a small space. Sometimes there is not. So I
think that the lower floor of the arcade moves very, very slowly, and
is actually one of the gears in the clockworks. Also, from above, it
kind of looks like one because of the gates jutting out.
Also, in the Aurora Isles, there are lots of gun puppy statues.
I agree with that thing about the second elevator in the terminals.
Thats my thought :)
I do like that gate idea as the gates do shift counter clockwise as it were from time to time. That would make a lot of sense actually. I gotta take a closer look now.
#10 is this: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/594694275274685070/165C80733A1C5AD10FC...
Just how many of you actually knew that the elevator is the "spiral" thingy in the whole game.
