...the Crashed Pod on top of the Training Academy?
10 things you didn't know about Spiral Knights
@IrunSkullkid I already posted that please try again later :P!!
Well I guess we see many parts of haven that arent "opened" to us, but there are lots of houses, pathways etc we see it everyday but we know no secret other than I guess theres a shovel near a blocked pathway. and that Landing Pod on the TA but looks like its fully restored.
Monomi is the password you say to the conjuring Cat in Moorcroft!!!
Too bad that the conjuring Kat does not ask for any password. It just says ''what ritual?'' or something like that
The only thing people see everyday is the haven loading screen.... HMM.
I wonder if he will tell us if we are right? This would be great entertainment for him.
I keep assuming it might be something in regards to the AH computer screens. Maybe they wrote something odd in wingding font. And it's something static for us, so we keep not paying attention to it.
I doubt this has anything to do with #10, but interesting tidbit: Minerals show up on your character's status screen and on the report screen if you have one.
Like so: http://i.imgur.com/dvU3s.png
#108: I think you may be on to something. Can you get a cleaner/larger image of the monitor? I'm trying to decode it, but I can't really read the symbols.
Noticed how one of the Graphs on the Auction house make up a fish.

Making I'm just over thinking it. :P
It isn't a secret but I've always liked the gate changing animation.
As for using "food" I wouldn't mind that on a t2 or t3 level where you can move a "dog bowl" around to get the attention of a gold puppy, or something along those lines. I'd also wouldn't mind the idea of "sneaking past" explored for some levels - stealth module anyone?
The rewards ARE tied to killing the monsters (just like most MMOs). If you could tie rewards to NOT killing the monsters - or delaying the killing of the monsters - (sneak points, treasure that exists only when the monsters are alive, hopefully others can come up with some other ideas), you'll get that behavior.
I'll move those to a suggestion ticket, definitely some things I'd like to see.
6. The pickup bar at the top of the screen and the vitapods are in the game as a result of my affection for Shiren the Wanderer and other rougelikes. I like the experience of 'leveling up' with every dungeon run and finding an assortment of tools.
That reminds me, could we get longer versions of those Gremlin maps that are kind of like old-school Gauntlet?
I know a lot of people don't like those levels, but I LOVE them personally. I just wish they were longer!
He said secret, not easter egg.
Maybe it's the way to access the sealed part of jelly farms that everyone wonders about.
I did notice a Gun Puppy of all things in the audience at the Krogmo Coliseum. I didn't see that before. Eh, maybe it appears there sometimes, and I am overthinking this too.

"Giant bees wanted honey comb and carnasaurs wanted meat."
What!?? Giant bees? Carnosaurs!! Why aren't these things in the game now?
how about the wicked looking knight with the big ass leviathan standing just beyond the barrier when you login and land at the bottom of haven's town square. I never seen or heard any explanation of who this guy is he doesn't look like any other knight as he is about 2-3 times larger. if someone has already suggested this sorry but I don't recall ever seeing it in the post or any others.
EDIT: here is his pic if you are wandering what i'm talking about.

I think its the alchemy machine in haven. If you go against the wall on the low ground of Haven next to the alchemy machine you can use the machine from there. I too was intrigued by this post and tore Haven apart looking for it. That is the only "secret" thing i could find. more like a glitch if you ask me but other than that i can't figure out what it is
What!?? Giant bees? Carnosaurs!! Why aren't these things in the game now?
In old days players from a forgotten time had guts to face those monsters. Now most players are soft sissies. Look at this forum - If players are whining about how Devilities or Wolvers are overpowered what would they say if they were to encounter Giant Bees or Carnosaur - these were a way more dangerous then any Devilite or Wolver.
;-)
Did anyone try standing with their full party on the broken elevator?
Maybe it leads next to the statue at that empty spot ;). (Unlocking an elevator to the certain stratum?)
"What!?? Giant bees? Carnosaurs!! Why aren't these things in the game now?"
Alpha team accidently killed them all off.
Or they're stuck in another part of the Clockworks just waiting to circle back on us.
9) Ald'rhun eh? That place was too dusty anyway..
I feel there is a slight similarity between them. Their eyes are the same in design. I don't know if anyone else would think so, but I feel like it may be a secret. Not sure if it deals with ten at all, but it's something to share.
Who knows...maybe the Strangers are some ancient Haven dwelling form of gremlins.
That of the routes of the ghost train of Moorcrofts manor?
This one to the right in a new zone that before was not.
"I keep assuming it might be something in regards to the AH computer screens. Maybe they wrote something odd in wingding font. And it's something static for us, so we keep not paying attention to it. http://oi55.tinypic.com/2814rqs.jpg "
I tried to decipher one line, which wasn't easy. The symbols I could recognize were indeed wingdings symbols. However, they appear to be gibberish only. Well, maybe the other lines don't, I don't know. Or there is some kind of code. Or nick's hint meant something else.
"_4f_ grfB_tm"
If it's not hidden behind a bush or something, I'm too lazy to find it.
Oops, this is my brothers account, he left it on. Pretend that DrLequack said that >_>
The Houses in Haven? I see the houses, but no doors, except those little holes that the Snipes go into...Maybe the Snipe controlling the Strangers thing is true. ._.
There are 2 things everybody sees, no matter what... the login page... and the load page for Haven. You ALWAYS load in town originally (unless you're at the Rescue Camp... not counting that), and its always the same page. For the life of me I can't find anything hidden on it though.

These are awesome, well time to start thinking hard about #10. Thanks for this post nick!
CURIOUS!
It makes me think its something so right in our face that we wouldn't even think of it to be a secret.
#10 could be this: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/20834
On Emberlight, most players see it everyday if we make a party or join that depth.
i've noticed there are 3 "X's" in a ballon shapped likeform of a chat bubble. Also on top left, near token trader, there are some gremlins in the outpost looking at a monitor that has a "BOSS SKULL" on it.
Maybe if a party of 3 Stand on those bubbles and press X at same time... or keep pressing X for some "Y" ammounts of time. or break all valves and press X on the bubbles, or everyone stand on every bubble and press X on them| all 3 standing in 1 bubble.... damn man too many ideas came out of that!.
Make some toughts and if you actually investigate this post results.
seems like a secret about the backstory or substory, or inside-story on the games history. Rather than an "active secret" that gives you an item or a let up (if you read into the context clues of the #10 post).
personally, so far, i give most credence to the snipe theories. however, it makes me wonder why the first person (in outside gate) doesn't have a snipe on him. just bout only one.
The secret is the following: You don't have to release new content to keep players entertained, you can just give them a vague description of something and they will search for it all over the place
pupu is on to something me thinks...
This is something we see every day. The gates. If you talk to Wegner about advanced information, you can view the recipes.
It should seem a bit peculiar the way he arranges the recipe list, especially given that he hints there may be undiscovered recipes.
The frustrating thing is... there are no unused combinations of top-2 minerals.
There is room in his list for 4 new recipes. I'm left with trying to think of construction methods that may not have been tried yet, such as 1-mineral highest, with the other 3-equal. Has that ever happened? If this is the method, it would fit the 'four missing recipes' theory, as there are 4 mineral types.
Good point Duke, I always wondered about these undiscovered recipes. Maybe this answers number #8... not easily accessible?
Why do I feel like Nick just put you all on giant snipe hunt? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snipe_hunt)
I know when I first saw the cute little things I went "oh, so that's what a snipe looks like"
Could it be the 2 skeleton floating heads that are merchants in Moorcraft Manor or the road with the four boxed in X's that has a dead end and suitcases?
It's gotta be something to do with Haven. I believe every player has a chance in seeing it and most of the time people are in Haven more than anything. I'm leaving it at that.
Maybe it's not the super hidden secret #10, but for what it's worth...
After you destroy his mask in stage 4 of Lord Vanaduke's battle, you can look at his face and see that it's the same as a Knight's face.
Maybe that's why he has no monster type. He's the same species as the players' characters... whatever species that is.
Furthermore...
Nick Popovich on player psychology: "We eventually came to terms with the fact that when you give a player a weapon, they will always try to solve problems with it."
Gabe Newell on player psychology: "C'mon, people. You can't show the player a really big bomb and not let them blow it up."
Combine these two philosophies and HEY LOOK, NITRONOMES
That road with a "dead end" isn't at all its a train platform. Thus the suitcases. If you notice to the left there is a ghostly looking set of train tracks. Maybe a train will come one day, take you to a new area!
That road with a "dead end" isn't at all its a train platform. Thus the suitcases. If you notice to the left there is a ghostly looking set of train tracks. Maybe a train will come one day, take you to a new area!
That "new area" is the afterlife, probably.
...If that train ever comes, I AM GOING TO SUPLEX IT
People are definitely overthinking this, so I'll state what I believe again.
First off to all of those dedicated hunters, please remember that it isn't necessarily something that EVERY person sees everyday, but at least something commonly seen at all.
Next, you probably won't get some super secret area or item of some sort, nor some in-game announcement that you're the super-duper-ultra-amazing finder of the secret. It's probably not much more than an easter egg or something trivial of some sort, or perhaps just a little hint at what we may see next in this game.
It could also just be a bit of trolling and if so, well played nick.
Look if you want, but don't get your hopes up so high.
I'd love to see images of 1,2,4,5 and 9 would be really cool to see some screen shots or mock-ups to see where this game came from.
Has no one ever noticed that the "gears" around the minimap and the "danger-meter" are turning no matter WHAT you are doing in the game?
I think that's it because I didn't see anyone post about THAT, and you see it every time you play the game....
I looked in the starting areas and i noticed there was also a gun puppy statue without a second one on the other side. There also were a few other escape pods and one that looked like it didnt open and it had the energy symbol on it. In the rescue camp there were two elevators that you cannot get to one of them you can see and one of them you can tell from the minimap.
OK so....
"10. There's lots of secrets in the game, many that we will unveil as we continue to develop the world. However there is one that players see every day that so far as we've seen, no one has ever figured it out. Curious!"
There's a lot of wild, unfocused (and really, really fun) speculation in this thread about point #10, but the phrasing implies other 'secrets' which have already been discovered. I'm not aware of any 'secrets' at all, but perhaps knowledge of those would help to direct the search for this new, completely undiscovered secret. Is it some text someplace? Is it interacting with an NPC or object? Is it a series of actions leading to a result?
Learn what the other 'secrets' are like and it might help a lot to narrow down what this particular secret is.
it's VOG.
people see everyday (weapons, suits, fang of vog, recipes) although none of us has ever seen Vog. we've encountered the other wolves: duskers, ash tails, skolvers, but where is Vog?
a new tier 1 boss maybe?
also on aurora isles there is this one keyed gate that no one knows where to get the damn key to begin with. i mean how can you open that thing? and i knew about the aurora isles being the oldest. it's kind of a dead giveaway that it looks "older" unlike the treasure area with the coins and minerals.
like the destructible red spigot wheels one occasionally encounters on the walls of clockwork tunnels or the random two destructible buckets of bolts that are only seen at the terminal elevators in clockwork tunnels (and give coins like bushes!).
