I am going to link this and this.
It seems Three Rings has no comments on NJ and his "mature" shenanigans, if you call flirting with everything mature, but clearly reacts to everyone else. What do you mean, favoritism?
To all you haters out there, the bottom line is this.
In a nutshell, at the end of everyday, when the admins check the forums, the majority of what they see is all you complaining immature children telling them "your game isnt good enough for me and here is why..."
Its kinda nice seeing Nj posting stuff like "Boswick you are such a beefcake" or "Nick i want to do your laundry sometime" or any of his other flirtatiousness because it tells them that THEY ARE DOING A GOOD JOB, which lightens up their overseeing of all this HATE.
Where's the love yo, where's the love?
> "Sure, and they have all the rights of being offended. But why answer so fast to a mockery/joke and completely ignore important things? (yeah, I'm looking at you, shard bombs test server feedback)."
^
Yet, you fail to see how they are learning from their past
And what ignoring the test feedback has to do with learning from the past...?
> 1. Danger Missions
What they learned from it? @_@
> 2. Uv Tickets (Yes you hate on compensation), but this was the first time Three Rings did anything of this sort for players who previously had x-weapon and they added change to it.
Again, what they learned from it? That you need to think about things before doing? Because it was pretty obvious that there would be abusers, only being really blind (not the literal blind) to ignore this.
3. Trojan bug-fixes
The one that made their shock attack hit a lot farther than their animation? Again I fail to see what they learned from it, aside from "they should test their content before releasing because it always bugs something".
> Also what you think is important is not necessarily important to them.
Yeah, I noticed how they don't give a crap about bombers with that logic that only them must play with a handicapped arsenal.
> Why post on a topic which is filled with half the players not even following the rules, or not willing to listen to any sort of reason.
Well, they are willing to listen they just need a decent answer (that doesn't mean agreeing with everything they said, but an answer that makes sense). If you need an example you can see Acck's post of his conversation with Aphrodite, she gave him a possible explanation as to why give people that had a RSS a piercing bomb instead of an elemental (sure, since the RSS had the 2 types of attack they could have made people choose what they get but her answer making sense was enough, even though she said it wasn't an official answer since she isn't a dev).
> As much as you think you are entitled to answers sadly you might not be.
Well, their loss I'm not buying energy nor recommending this game anymore because of their apathy.
Maybe "supporters" just see us with a short fuse (not literally) though I think most people here are trying to explain things rationally - but we shouldn't attack ourselves, just discuss what the topic is about. Or else this may get closed, and we don't want that, hm?
About the bomb and listening to feedback thing from Byas' post... as far as I know, RSS tried to be changed already once to Piercing type and people hated (of course due to FSC dominance) the change that was going to be in the later update. But it didn't happen though, because OOO listened to the complaints of the people in the Testing Server. Shocking like old ISB, isn't it? Maybe that is also why we are a bit baffled - and annoyed, and it may be just me but doesn't look like it after 6 pages - about the sudden change, yet again, about a weapon that was perfectly fine being dual-type, at least to us, the players who used it.
*Rambling start* Also, the change from old shard bomb lines is absolutely radical, not only due to what people said about it being a "useless" bomb, a nerf and all that propaganda... but because it is a totally different bomb, even if it worked properly with Stun bug fixed, shards not having limits etc:
Old shard bombs:
- Dual type damage > Elemental+piercing, piercing+normal (ISB had that or just piercing...? I think it had part normal, still it counted more its Strong Shock)
- Expanding explosion in 8 ways.
- Used as both a long range weapon and a close range weapon.
- Fastest bomb due to both short charge and short fuse... not ISB though.
New shard bombs:
- Single type damage.
- Two stage explosion, central and peripheral, with delay.
- Used as area of effect bomb, disperses mobs, similar to Blast Bomb times but slower.
- Charges quite fast but the two stage attack is very slow, so all in all is similar to Blast Bombs like Irontech Destroyer and Big Angry Bomb.
I mean, what was the thought process to transform old shard bombs to the new ones? Wouldn't have been more logical to implement a (no pushback) Brandish-wave bomb like the one in Blast Network already and make it 8-way? *Rambling end*
as far as I know, RSS tried to be changed already once to Piercing type and people hated (of course due to FSC dominance) the change that was going to be in the later update. But it didn't happen though, because OOO listened to the complaints of the people in the Testing Server.
Hrrr... The RSS is pure piercing now, they didn't listen at all (unless if there was another test server before with the real RSS becoming pure pierce, but I really don't remember that happening :S).
EDIT: Wait, I think I got it (sorry for being a little slow, english isn't my native language so I still get into some trouble from time to time :X ).
So... There was another test server where they tried putting it piercing only, nobody liked so they didn't do it. But some time later they did it again, but this time ignored all the feedback? Is that right?
It's a change in definition, not a tweak at all. It's like the developers get paid by cheques this month and then next month they get paid by monopoly money. They are still money right? Would you like Mr. Schofield to handle your payroll this way starting next month? Absolutely not, right?
I think the real danger about this decision is not only the developers fail to see customers who will be most impacted by their decision are not buying into their design rationales (in my view they are unrealistic because these rationales do not account for frag grenades or claymore mines), but this failure is compounded with another failure of unable to see that their customers have already discovered a better, possibly unintended way to use an existing feature (and learn to be dependent on it).
The "right" way is to keep the existing feature that people enjoy and tweak it, then you introduce new shard bombs separately. It's not only good risk management practice, it's common sense!
Seriously Dev, we paid this game for fun. You took away our fun right in the middle of our summer. Could you have picked a better time?
259 posts. Even a brainless person could see that the reaction of the community shows that they are not happy with the ways things are going. Although, do not rage at the admins. They are not developers. Really, infront of the games code they would be like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ccoj5lhLmSQ
Oh! Yeah! I know some of the code XD
@Lordganondorf Our love started disappearing when the horrible patches and bad decisions started appearing. And for good reason. Have you even Read This Thread? There are many Rational Arguments about why OOOs decision making sucks and they are right.
Bad decisions:
Binding 4*+
Increase in crafting costs
Iron Lockboxes
Shadow Keys
Featured Auctions
Punch (The whole idea behind "unique" variant was that it was unique, and sparingly given at random.)
Hall of Heroes
Supply Depot
Shard Bomb Debacle
I am sure there is more, but this should be enough fodder for the lover/haters.
By the by, I love this game, just a bit disappointed in some of the decisions of late.
So do I, Acck. So do I. The binding, however, was entirely needed for the game, since yes, the grinding was too easy. Featured auctions are not THAT much of a travesty, but everything else really screwed up the game. You also forgot to add the Seerusly unfree pack for P2P payers only....
The RSS is pure piercing now, they didn't listen at all (unless if there was another test server before with the real RSS becoming pure pierce, but I really don't remember that happening :S).
There was. A long while ago, there was a pure piercing RSS up on the test server. It was just like the old RSS except instead of being piercing/elemental it was just pure piercing. People naturally objected that it wasn't working out, as devilites tend to dodge the projectiles. The current RSS doesn't cause this, and I've found it pretty alright against devilites. The old RSS was excellent against both trojans and greavers, though, so a pure-piercing version of it would still have been preferable.
Thanks for the explanation Zeddy, got it now. :)
I still have a hard time hitting almost anything with the new bombs since the second fuse takes so long but it really is better than the old against devilites (at least to hit them), although it was still a bit harsh to not even let old RSS users choose what line they want (sun shards or crystal bombs) considering that people had been getting some UVs against elemental-weak monsters (zombies especially).
Deadly crystal bomb is semi-effective against undead. I said "semi" because I wouldn't use it as my main bomb (more like a side arm bomb). Reason is that when you have slow moving targets like Zombies, it's better off to cluster them together with vortex and then do a DA / CIV charge on them. Deadly crystal bomb shines when there are choke points or your targets are arranged in an arc shape that resemble the shard formation. Definitely are "no" when people lag (same apply to the rest of the shard bombs anyways).
For trojans and greavers, it seems the most effective weapons in the bomber's arsenal are still a pokey sword, a blitz needle or a callahan (none of these are bombs, mind you). Dev, what weapons do you recommend us bombers to use against these? That is a game balancing question, right?
@Byas -- It is not a loss to them at all if you are not buying Ce at all this game does not revolve around 1 or even 50 people purchasing Ce. They learned from the Danger missions that players wanted to be able to do the new mission and not wait x amount of days for it to recycle up. People might of abused the Uv Tickets, but did it kill the market at all? I know a lot of players who had 50+ tickets, but none of them sold them for crowns just used on themselves. (If you want to argue it ruined price of Uv's, it did not at all). Lmao I do not think you are a good bomber at all in this game since bombers make every run and even Lockdown matches easier for the team. I guess you have a lot to learn about bombing and love <69.
@Acck -- Your list shows that you do not understand half the mechanics of this game at all.
4*+ Binding ---- Great decision since now 5* gear gained value.
Increase in crafting cost ---- Made it so that now players are challenged to make 5* sets (it is more an accomplishment now).
Iron Lockboxes ---- Great Ce Sink (+ it is a style of system many games use)
Shadow Keys ---- The way they first implemented it was terrible, but they fixed their mistake. Overall these keys are worth it allows you to explore new parts of the game which give the regular player a challenge. It does not even cost as much as people think if you do split the cost of doing a SL run.
Featured Auctions ---- 1 of the best Crown Sinks Three Rings developed. (I guess you dont understand Crown sinks or Ce Sinks)
Punch --- Another great crown sink (If you think that Uv's are suppose to not be found by a lot of players before Punch came out all my gear still had high or max uv's all I did was rage craft, and many players hated rage crafting found it very useless punch makes it easier for F2P and P2P to have Uv's)
Hall of Heroes ---- It is great incentive for a player to complete all the missions.
Supply Depot --- Removes the useless merchants in this game from selling horrible uv'ed weapons, and allows players to focus more on Uv gear.
Shard Bombs --- have minor fixes, but it is not a big deal <69
@Elitia --- Trojans are so simple to kill with a DBB. Greavers seem to be a small challenge for a bomber in a party with 4, but solo against a greaver they are simple with a Dbb. I guess the Devs can not answer your question since it is base on a players skills in game some are good at this game others lack the skills (thus partying with good players help).
> It is not a loss to them at all if you are not buying Ce at all this game does not revolve around 1 or even 50 people purchasing Ce.
Of course it isn't resolved around that, but it's still their loss since they are losing a customer plus potential customers. ;)
> They learned from the Danger missions that players wanted to be able to do the new mission and not wait x amount of days for it to recycle up.
It wasn't really a problem to begin with, but putting the new mission everyday for a week was a nice move.
> People might of abused the Uv Tickets, but did it kill the market at all? I know a lot of players who had 50+ tickets, but none of them sold them for crowns just used on themselves. (If you want to argue it ruined price of Uv's, it did not at all).
It doesn't change the fact that people abused it and it could have been prevented with a little something called a brain, anyone could see from miles away that announcing about a compensation for having a 2~3* item on your inventory would be abused to the max (people also commented it at the update's thread before the server reset if I remember well, so they had the time to fix things before making the mess).
> Lmao I do not think you are a good bomber at all in this game since bombers make every run and even Lockdown matches easier for the team. I guess you have a lot to learn about bombing and love <69.
I don't see how bombers supporting or my bombing skills have anything to do with my comment about handicapped arsenal, since it was about how the devs decided that bombs can only do AoE while all other weapons can do AoE + other things. It doesn't really makes sense to cap a class to only one kind of attack while all the others can have a choice.
Actually, for that list I would say UV rolling was a good thing, but the costs for single and double rolls seems a little too low. We inevitably want people rolling triples to burn more crowns, but people can just roll their dice on lower risk for higher reward compared to their chances. Not a crazy-derp-it-up-through-the-roof-into-space increase, maybe around 30kCr for single and 110kCr for double.
And no more UV tickets from promos. Get those solids out of here. And the depot. That was one of many money grabs. You had your fun, now stop derping up everything with your greed.
I think some of them would make sense if we could know the bigger picture, so we can judge them with the right context.
One thing I learned from the RSS fiasco is that maybe the SK Dev has a bigger plan for the bombs *but* they are executing it wrong because they do not give us the right context to judge it.
There is a trade off between secrecy and customer's acceptance. SK Development can choose to be tight lipped about what they are working on, and ignoring customer's dissatisfaction. Or, they can reveal part of that secret in the form of a timeline of development. So at least people will be kept informed and could make proper suggestion before it's too late.
Either way we could end up waiting years for this grand plan to unveil itself. Remember how Tortodrones, Iron Slug buffs and stun bug fix were revealed?
Hell, people seem convinced the Guild Hall update is imminent.
Why not go around in Haven and in parties and such asking for players opinions on the new bomb? Why doesn't Three Rings just send out one of those question things asking how EVERYONE, not just forumers, like the bombs?
I sort of think the GH update is "close" (I am guessing before Dec). This is one long overdue update because GH has been around since I started playing and it is also well known to do absolutely nothing.
@Autofire. Well here is one comment I got from my GM last night while playing in FSC. I was using Deadly Crystal Bomb w/ CTR Max.
"ejejejejejejeejejejejejeje"
"stop with you lag bombs elt"
"GTG"
[GM] has logged off.
I have only one complaint about this game, and that is the lack of Arcade gameplay. Other than that, I'm good with the way things are going. Granted, I've never used either RSS version, so I can't really say anything about that.
If we're still talking about the shard bombs I took out 3 Duskers with my 3* Dark Matter bomb the other day. It's funny to see people who think that just because they wear crap like that, that they can just run in and take on any and everybody. The fools soon learned.
Anyway this thread is boring, kill it already. What? Me posting is just going to make it live longer? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffft I was already a hypocrite anyway!
~The Mighty Cheese Knight; WeeGee
I must thank you; your post was not just for you to take it off from your chest, you also spoke for me.
I have the exact same opinion about what you think and said about the bad game changes, and I invested real money on this game too... In fact I also did a post that looks a bit like this onem but more detailed in some aspects. (you can find it in here: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/64861) (and no, I'm not advertising my post, I just want see this game restored, and I quote:"to its former glory").
As I saw someone say: OOO needs to hear what the comunity has to say about this or this, as the comunity only wants the game to get better (would be a bit stupid if was the other way).
And I too realised that this game is getting very much money hungry. Brutal CE prices, each day that passes we see more vanity items (many of them are bought using real money), every run pays a lot less... Sigh...
As read in a response above: Lockdown is good only for the ones who got spamable weapons, a huge buttload of UVs; skill has little importance there!
But I think the priorities of the developpers are more vanity items... I bet in December you will have cars to buy in SK, just to showoff in Haven...
I know we have been restless about the game for some time now. The 260+ comments on the Supporter to a hater thread confirmed that. However, I may add that I would only continue whining about the game after this Wednesday/Thursday. I am confident that the entire community will say how they love the developers and how they desperately want to make babies with them and raise a family. This seems to be a worrying trend, especially with Njthug ☺. I know that all the complaining is really just a little tantrum we all go through while waiting for content. However, I have been in the game since the start of closed beta, and I know how OOO operates by now. The developer team is very, very secretive when it comes to new content, and they almost never provide information about updates yet to come, and if they do, it is vague and reveals nothing. I know that they have made some bad decisions lately, and I think I can tell you why.
The Asian Servers: Due to all the complaints about how horrific the lag is in Asia and Australia (I know this horror, I live in Asia) OOO tried to make things better for the players. However, they could not afford the cost of setting up servers in Asia, so they set up a deal with GameCyber. These developers need more than just cheap ramen, peanut butter, stale toast, cornflakes, tentacle couch, and stale milk to survive, so from their perspective that is the only way they could possibly have a server for us is to make the deal with GameCyber. They probably felt as much pain as you did, knowing that you people would lose their progress.
The Stun Bug: As many programmers pointed out, Java is very hard to code, especially for a game like this. The bug could be ANYWHERE. It could be one letter that glitches stun. It is like trying to find a needle in a barn full of hay. The developers are trying to fix stun, but even if they find it and fix it, the entire game breaks and it is back to the drawing board. So that’s that.
The RSS fiasco: It seems that the dev team has always had something against the RSS; indeed, they tried to change it to full pierce before, but everyone said that it would break it (which was entirely true). Nobody really knows the reason behind the RSS. It seems, from Nick’s perspective, that weapons do certain types of dmg. Guns have range, bombs have AoE, swords do the most damage, and are close quarters weapons. Sadly, it seems that whoever is behind this is VERY nitpicky about this. Having a one exception bomb was a TRAVESTY AGAINST GAMERKIND! I have always thought that the devs have not been kind to bombers, because they think they are Over Powered. It seemed that they did not ever want a pure bomber, so they did not want something that could hit switches and the such. They knew, however, that stun was broken, pierce was useless, the shards were glitchy, and the damage was pathetic. Perhaps this means that the devs are getting closer to unraveling the stun glitch. Their guilt=UV tickets, which entirely destroyed the UV economy. Another failure on their part. Just bad decision making.
"We want apologies!" Sadly, this will never happen. The devs may know the RSS fiasco was a **** up from beginning to the end, but they will never say this, at least never in the community forums. If they ever actually apologized, then they would admit that they wasted a lot of time to something that really sucked anyways. The poor devs would be given a lot of hate, even though all they want is a tiny bit of respect. They are human, and they do make mistakes. The RSS fiasco was a mistake. Maybe they might add the old shards or buff the new shards. Only time can tell.
Promos: "We want new and varied promos! They are getting boring." Well, they may be a recolor of armor, but they are really cool recolors of the same armor. However, with every recolor there is one or two new and awesome things, particularly auras. That flak jacket and hacked aura is Awesome! Also, the recolors make it easier for them to churn out promos and add new and awesome content, which we all want badly.
Side Note: Venom haz gud grammaz wen he want taz.
Link. So the Devs can read about it and think about whether or not they should be doing something about the money laundry scheme employed in this incident.
@Eltia
It is unfortunate that the Devs have missed some many opportunities to show that they are upstanding stewards of the economy they have created.
Between the UV ticket debacle of 2012, and now a CR exploit that led to a CE market manipulation, the ooo stance seems to be head in sand.
Sure there was an investigation into the crown incident.
Maybe a player had a hand slapped from the cookie jar, but what about the rest of the economy?
What about the UV Ticket incident?
Were there any hand slaps, Ticket removals, etc?
Or have both of these events led to an HUGE aggregate of UV'd gear that would have not normally been on the market?
Way to go ooo, another stellar debacle for 2012.
Hurry, Hurry, the year is almost done, still time for a few more debacles.
Tricorns given as a glitch for a promotion.
System is fixed to give out laurels for said promotion.
Tricorns are not removed. Some players now have Tricorns and Laurels.
Discuss.
I got a warning last night regarding one of my forum posts in this thread. Apparently the "b" word (with a missing letter) isn't allowed. So just heads up that indeed someone from OOO is reading this thread but they are probably not looking at what we think they should be.
