First up. What is a suggestion?
You probably said idea. If you did, you're only getting a fraction of what a suggestion really is.
A suggestion is an idea with thought behind it.
Does it matter? Absolutely.
Why? Because currently the suggestions forum is over run with ideas, and suggestions have become an endangered species.
Too many players visit the suggestions forum only to post an idea, and too few are there to do anything else but.
And those few who used to bother being such avid pursuers of the improvement of Spiral knights have become terrifying, bitter, beasts.
Beasts that have spent so much time trying to contort seemingly endless waves of ideas into suggestions, they have a hard time seeing anything good unless it bashes 'em in the face...and even then they snarl and snap...which usually sends good ideas into hiding, never to see the light of day ever again.
But enough about Luguiru,
(may your bed of shredded dreams always be warm and cozy, your actual accomplishments be remembered. and yes, this is a backhanded compliment)
You're probably wondering, "why bother?"
that or "isn't this a suggestion?"
to answer the second question first...yes, yes it is, but you'll get why this isn't in the suggestions forum by answering the first question.
I pointed out that players only visit the suggestion forum to post suggestions. that's pretty much an absolute. I don't know of many players who actually bother to visit the suggestions forum because they aren't really interested in what they haven't considered...which really is something we've all been guilty of in the first place.
Another factor of that is that with so many ideas being posted, and so few suggestions, whether in the first place or coming from ideas, there really is something of a stagnation with community improvement. yes guildhalls have come about...but take a look at how long it took for that community idea to come to fruition!
Here's what I'm going to do to do my part:
Once a week, I'll post an idea that has been proposed, as well as the first searchable occurrence of said idea, and links to any other relevant occurrences of the idea. (if I miss any, you're welcome to point them out and I will add them to the reference material)
then, over the course of the week you are welcome to comment on the idea.
I will update daily and cliff note the pro's and cons, and at the end of the week, if it seems like the idea is worth pursuing we may do so.
Otherwise, a new idea will be posted and the current one will be bagged, tagged, and filed. (posted on the wiki with links etc.)
Ill refer to these discussions as episodes, simply for fun's sake, and it'll be easier to reference, instead of "that discussion about ban hammers"
You can consider this the pilot episode, so tell me what you think? if you wouldn't pay something like this any mind, then don't. Xp
Otherwise commentary is welcome!
ttfn and ttyl! ciao!
Even if there have already been revolutionary threads such as two-handed swords and a different form of pets which I completely support, apparently I hate everything implicitly competent.
People constantly remind new forum users to search because the forum rules say to search before creating a thread with an old topic. The point of having them search is to read past threads on the same topic to see what people said in the past and whether it applies to the present the same way. The problem is when those people bump those old threads as if they need to prove they searched for it, which is against the forum rules. So by breaking two rules that apparently means they did nothing wrong and deserve none of the hate they receive.
