DANGEROUS C!
I'm thinking... my instincts tell me safe way safe way safe A- but my lust for adventure tells me dangerous me dangerous me dangerous C!
DANGEROUS C!
Let's go! C is more exciting than A, and I really rather do something then sit around having someone else do it for you (In games, of course ;) ).
B, because Then we can also help wegner. (also, missed the last post. oh well.)
While manually scanning the area ourselves, we may happen to pick up some activity in the areas we're supposed to be scanning, or discover a new area of high activity.
@Kanoka
It is I who should be grateful! You totally deserved the 200th post! :D
@Artistbma
Succumb to the temptations of the wild adventure! *evil laughter*
@Dmatter
Sorry bud, but my schedule can be pretty unpredictable at times, with college life and all... (Such ridiculous excuses eh? xP) Well, just remember to check back daily, you never know if a surprise pops in!
On the side-note...
As mentioned before, we've hit 200 posts, within 15 days! *Hurray!*
Thank you, everyone, for your support. Without your help, I'll never be able to get so far. Keep up the great work, and we'll be in the making of another successful achievement! Well, if we get a good story ending, that is. (haha)
Until then, adventure on!
I would if you put the next part of the story up! >:( <--JK
Just wondering, do you choose what will happen when you post the story? Example of what I mean.
Blah blah this, blah blah that. The slime lunges at you.
A: Run away with your injured friend.
B: Try to defend your injured friend.
Do you decide what will happen next if A/B wins while you post the post with the choices? Another example.
A will mean that you try to run away, but your friend is to heavy and you get captured.
B will mean that you battle off the slime, and kill it, getting a key so you can get into the treasure chamber.
If you're reading the story correctly...
There are no possibilities that he gives us. We just have to assume what happens next, and hope for the best.
The majority votes go to C!
@Ebil-Bunny & Vinnydime
Actually, it can be both.
Sometimes the decisions are pretty logical, just like what Ebil said. Otherwise, the decisions all lead to cloudy outcomes, and can be pretty unpredictable. However, I can guarantee that most of the decisions provided are not 100% bad or perfectly... well, perfect.
My main purpose of doing all this is to let the readers participate in making the story, and choose the pathway in which they like the most. So simply have fun, and watch how the story unfolds next!
That name sounds familiar... say, Kanoka, are you an old fan of Bionicle or something?
Just sayin'
(Btw, feeling sick today. Sorry if the writing gets wobbly @_@)
You make up your mind to get into the Clockworks yourself with a little help from the Spiral HQ. You make a brief contact via comlink to the Guardians and Recons team, and you manage to get three experienced soldiers to lend their help to you.
The Guardian knight arrives to the Arcade first, and he performs a respectful salute to you. "Greetings, soldier-in-arms. I'm Terrin, at your service." After much waiting, both of the Recons stumble to the entrance, and they appear to be twins, except that their gender is different. "Hello, sorry for taking you so long." The male one says apologetically, "Tikki here has to visit "someone special" for a moment." He rolls his eyes at his female twin, which immediately protests at his remark. "It was an emergency! Just ignore him, he's always acting so seriously. Um, anyway, I'm Tikki, and my brother over here is Nikki. Nice to meet you, fellow comrade!"
You introduce yourself to your team and talk about the mission briefing, being careful not to miss out the important details. "So, all we gotta do is to ward off some pesky monsters?" Tikki says casually, stretching her knuckles, "Sounds like cake to me."
"Be careful though," Terrin the Guardian voices up, "we'll never know if the situation gets out of control. The knights don't simply disappear without a reason."
Your team proceeds to one of the gates in the Arcade, and you key in the coordinates of the Wolver's Den, where the knights were last found. The elevator makes a long descend, past Moorcraft Manor and Emberlight. As the surrounding gets darker and devoid of light, you can sense the surge of energy radiating from the Core, the deepest point of the Clockworks known to the Spiral HQ.
At depth number twenty-five, you reach the silent Wolver Den, where the only noise can be heard once the Wolvers make their first ambush to finish off their victim. Without delay, you set up your equipments and start the scan. Meanwhile, Terrin stands by you, keeping guard for any suspicious movements. The Recons are hiding silently, wherever they are hiding (they must be really good at that, since you can't even detect their location through your scan). After much effort, you collected some data, but nothing helpful. Even the Wolvers are nowhere in sight.
You confirm the lost knights are nowhere to be seen. "You're right, this place is too quiet. Do you think they could be somewhere in the next depth?" Terrin asks. "Yeah, we should keep searching" Nikki comments, "since we're already here, might as well continue."
You remember that you have a task assigned by Wegner earlier, and you've spent an hour looking for the knights. However, quitting now would only end the search in vain. What will your choice be?
A. Abandon the search and head back to the Arcade.
B. Move on the the next depth.
Advance on.
B.
It's pretty obvious that the Knights have been brought down further. I mean, who would capture someone and then hide out where they last were?
On another note, I don't mind Terrin dying, but the siblings seem like another good story to keep alive. Sho down we go. :L
Don't send them back after descending such a long time. Abandoning is not an option
We've already put the work into getting down this far; I think we ought to keep going, even if it takes too much time, since we're now committed to this mission.
@Onoa: Yes, I was a huge Bionicle fan back when it was around! :) Wasn't an extremely dedicated BZPower follower, but I was extremely loyal to the novelized stories and sets.
So... Kanoka is a term in Bionicle? That's interesting :)
By the way Onoa, if you change your mind, you're always welcome to hop in anytime!
Further down we go, the more likely we are to both find a sign of the other knights and get our own work done.
(Sorry you're feeling sick, Snow! Hope you feel better after some rest! Drink some tea. <3)
Thanks for that! I feel a lot better now, just a little cold and headache hanging there obstinately. I would walk to a restaurant nearby to order a warm cup of lemon tea, if only my head could hold still ><
I also have a cold, except instead of a headache, I have a stuffy nose, gunked up chest, and a throat-ache >.<
I say we do..........

Nice story, by the way. It's very thrilling and I like it.
Welcome, adventurer!
Glad to see you joining us here!
The next chapter is expected to be out tomorrow. Or to be more precise, about 17 hours and 15 minutes right after this.
(Fully recovered now :D Well, back to work.)
okay, but If it's even a minute after, I'll overreact.
Glad your all better :)
Not glad that I'm not all better :(
Glad you're better! I can't wait for the next chapter
"Alright, let us not waste time." Terrin threads off warily to the next elevator, followed by the rest of the team. Once everyone is inside, you press the worn-off descend button, and the elevator heaves itself down with a mechanical groan.
After a short while, you arrive a gloomy Clockwork Tunnel, directly below the floating grassy plains of the Wolver Den. Sighs of darkness are present in every corner, even the tiles on the floor look like they will jump off from its place anytime and grow a large set of teeth to devour you. At a distance, you can hear the shuffling noise of bones clicking against bones.
"The Haunted Passage." Nikki says, lowering down his voice, "Surely the danger ahead is pretty unpredictable, not to mention our mission in hand has an alarming issue... I'll scout the area ahead with Tiki, while you'll start your scan here. Be careful, friends."
"I'll be here and keep both of us safe. Stay on guard, soldier." Terrin salutes the Recons and unsheathe his enormous sword.
When you turn to look at the Recons, they're already gone. Without thinking too much, you quickly set up your device again and started the area scan. Once in a while. you can hear groans and yelps from the monsters, probably after receiving blows from the swift Recons. Then, everything will return silent just like before. The more you think about it, the more the tiles on the floor looks menacing to you.
Soon, you get the complete data, and you find something exactly what you need. Three knights are found right along the path of this depth, not too far away from the elevator. However, all of them aren't even moving an inch. Terrin leans in closer to look at your findings, "This is indeed strange..."
Just then, the Recons run back, half-stumbling and half-gasping. What could've made them that frightened?
"Guys... y-y-you gotta ch-check t-this out..." Tikki is the first to sputter up a few words, while Nikki simply stares at you with great horror.
Without further ado, the whole team, including you, head off to the cleared path of the Haunted Passage. You slowly find out that the lost knights are located just around the same corner.
As you arrive a considerably spacious place, Tikki disappears beneath the shadows, and pulls off something heavy from behind a bookshelf. "Need some help here!" she cries out with a trembling voice.
Terrin immediately goes to her help and take hold of whatever she is holding with his massive arms. "Oh my goodness..." you hear the Guardian whispering grimly to himself. He picks the thing up and slowly lay it down in front of you, except it isn't a thing.
It was what a knight is left, a body without itself. His internal light of his armour – even his eyes – are completely shut-down without a single trickle of light. In other words, it is a dead body.
[Continued at next post]
"There's more. Give me a hand." Nikki goes around to another shelf. With Terrin's help, he wedges off another body, and another. All the three missing knights are here, with their badly clattered armour and face devoid of any light.
"What could have done this?" Tikki waves her hand at all the bodies, still gasping in disbelief, "I mean, the Undead and Fiends around here are dangerous... but nothing could've cause something so terrible like this!"
"Check this out," Nikki points at one of the knights, "his armour isn't really damaged at all. Just some minor cuts from the Wolvers' teeth. Most importantly, their whole body condition seems intact. I don't see any brutal signs of bleeding, burnt marks or pierced wounds, not even a dent."
"Same goes for the rest," Terrin continues observing the bodies, "no sign of fatality in any of the knights. I have never seen anything like this before."
You try to do whatever you can do by pulling off a life-detector. You attach the device to all of the knights and run a power-check. As true as what you see, all three of them are truly dead. No energy or heat source left. Even their reserve energy is at level zero. Nothing is left inside them at all. Even for you as an experienced researcher, you have never see anything end off a knight's life completely in such a strange method.
"We must return and report this finding to Kora" Tikki says, "this is beyond everything I see in this world."
Everyone agrees to end the mission gladly, despite its somber outcome. As you arrive to the brightly lit surface with your team again, you already see Wegner standing at his usual post.
You run forward to him, but before you can utter a single word, he begins ranting on you as usual when he gets steamed. "Now why on mighty Cradle do you run off without saying a word? I say, you are a total disgrace!" Soon, he realise there's a huge Guardian knight carrying three knights on his shoulders, and a twin Recon standing behind you. Tikki quickly reaches out her hand and waved at him. "Hello Wegner!"
"Why..." Wegner stops himself, and stares at you with his bright, aging eyes. "Now I think you should explain all this. Quite a lot has happened, I suppose."
You proceed to explain everything, starting from the Geo Knight who found out the knights went missing, until the part where you find the dead bodies, and confirmed they are truly dead without a single lethal scratch or dent.
Wegner stares at the floor, scratching his hood thoughtfully. He doesn't say anything for a while, and then he looks at you with that bright pair of eyes again. "Now, let the Guardian and Recons go to Kora first, while you continue to finish off your task, although I asked some other knights to help you complete half of the work. Meanwhile, let me think about this myself. This simply isn't as simple as it simply is. Yeah it's that complicated..."
[Continued at next post]
(Lol, two consecutive long chapters and no votes...)
You follow Wegner's orders and walk off to your stationed monitor again. As you open the files, you realise that nearly everything is complete, you just have to compile the data into a nice and neat report sheet. Of course, it's not as simple as it sounds.
You start to read through all the raw data first to get a rough idea of the increased monster activity. Interestingly, you find that the highest activity is from an army of Trojans raiding both of the the researched areas. Almost a quarter of the total monster inhabitants are taken over by Trojans alone. That sounds pretty new.
You type out a brief report on the account of "your" research, and double-checked it before transferring it to the main console. Feeling quite satisfied, you take a little break and do a few stretches. You realise that it's already dark around, and the distant stars have appeared in the night sky, dimly lighting up the distant lands. You can even catch a glimpse of a pile of battered tent shining in the starlight, abandoned among the trees.
You are suddenly reminded of Gina. Where could she be right now? Is she alright? Will she be filed guilty under condemnation? You get so worried you feel like you should go to her right away. Then, you wonder about today's mission – what does Kora have to say about this, or the other researchers? Contacting the Spiral HQ now should be fine, as long as you don't bring the talk up till midnight. Then again, Wegner could have a thought about it after his thinking. Perhaps he can share something to you. Besides, he's still sitting around in the Arcade now. No harm done if you can ask him nicely (he can be jolly good if his mood is fine).
A. Search for Gina's whereabouts.
B. Contact Kora and your previous team members.
C. Talk to Wegner.
A!
We must see her! What if she hadn't had dinner?
Anyhow, I'm back after five days of absence and is sad to miss a vote D:
C! my reasoning is that it is what seems like the safest route (albeit maybe a little boring) and then you can tell him your done too.
That way we can give him our report and see if he's heard anything from our team at the same time.
I think we should stick to the book this time around - any more insubordination and we could very well be out of a job!
'Cuz Wegner is cool. And maybe he needs some coffee too :P
P.S. 20 Trojans? /shivers
C.
I mean, he was responsible for her last time we saw him.
C gets the most votes!
By the way, I wish every Chinese out there a Happy Chinese New Year! In this Year of the Snake, may you be as crafty as the serpent!
Nope. You should feel pretty cool about this year then! :)
You walk to the Geo Knight Chief calmly, holding your PDA in one hand. He sees you approaching and his eyes seem to grin brightly at you. "Hello, fellow researcher! Anything I can help you with?"
You hand over your PDA with the complete report recorded inside. Wegner gladly accepts it from you and squints at the wall of text. He raises his eyebrows and shoots his glance at you. "Well, as always, you've done well. Impressive work, Geo Knight." He eyes wink, coupled with a wide smile on his face, "So, it's pretty late now, I suppose I'll be heading off now soon. Anything else before I go?"
You state that you want to listen about what Wegner has to say about the recent mission. "Ah, that incident eh?" Wegner ponders in his own thought again, scratching his slightly tattered hood, "First of all, I'm no investigator of the dead, so I can't completely understand the situation just yet; Biotech Hahn could be the man for the job. Now, I do have a thought that the knights are being shut down permanently, that their life force do not have a chance to get recovered. Of course, it's just my personal speculation. Who knows, it could be something way out of what we can comprehend, like the power of the minerals (by the way, we can talk about a mineral I found a long ago, it's truly a gem). Or perhaps, it can be something paranormal. Speaking of which, your girl companion is locked up in the Spiral HQ Cabin Room. You should talk to her tomorrow, she's not cooperating with us here, not even with me."
Wegner sighs disapprovingly, and peeks at his clock on his desk. "It's getting late now, and we have a big day ahead of us. Get some rest, then I'll see you tomorrow!" He performs a salute before packing off his workspace.
You walk off to the Barracks, feeling somewhat exhausted from today's work. Still, a lot has happened, and you can expect a lot more to come the next day. On your bed once again, you close your eyes as your thoughts drift off into a colorful tent with a girl crying for help and an army of knights found dead, with their eyes slowly fading in the darkness...
[Continued at next post]
We want these knights to be safe - we may be more of a hinderance to our team than a benefit if we choose C, and A would prevent us from doing anything at all. Escort missions done anywhere usually tend to be a lot more work for the team escorting, and it may just be better to assign some skilled knights to find our missing friends.
Who knows? Maybe the interrogation about why they disconnected would be our elaboration. :)
EDIT: Post #200...never thought I'd be the one to have it this time around. :3
