Well this update would have

Well this update would have been more enjoyable if it had more options about the UI and the ever popular revert to old UI, but OOO above me is your feedback will you ignore it?

i dont like most of this

FIRST I HATE HOW U GUYS CHANGED DIFFICULTY OF THE ENEMYS WHICH MAKES EVERYTHING EASIER FOR NOOBS
SECOND, LET ME SEE CROWNS AND NOT JUST PUSH I TO SEE THE CR AND THE ENERGY
THIRD MAKE IT SO U CAN DROP VIALS
FOURTH I NEED TO SEE THE HEALTH DOTS OF MY FRIENDS SO I CAN GIVE THEM A HEALTH VIAL, NOT HEALTH BAR
FIFTH NO WEAPON WHEEL SOUNDS COOL BUT AIN'T
SIXTH THE TRANSFER BETWEEN ELEVATORS ALSO STINKS
SEVENTH I DONT LIKE HOW THE COLORS DONT SHOW UP ON MAP SO I CAN SEE MY FRIENDS
EIGTH THE TARGETING IS NOT COOL

ALL IM SAYING IS JUST CHANGE IT BACK AND KEEP SOME GOOD THINGS LIKE PETS AND CRAP NOT JUST ADD A HOW BUNCH OF NONSENSE THAT RUINS THE GAME STOP THINKING ABOUT YOURSELVES AND THINK OF UR CONSUMER

Shield health: Omega Shell vs. other shields

I have the Omega Shell. I can confirm that the shield bar does not change length between any other 5* shield and Omega Shell.

@Sroell

That button is now in left bottom corner instead of top left. and I hide the things in left corner. I rather press F6 than click 2 times everytime I want to check what they are up to.

Also, lol i havnt thought about changing controlls from F6 :P

Ok.. I decided to write some

Ok.. I decided to write some of my own thoughts about this.. New UI or whatever it's supposed to be.

First of all, what was wrong with the old UI? Well.. It was a bit laggy.. Yes. Ummm.. Uuuuum.. can't think of anything else? Beacuse guess what? It was almost perfect! I haven't had one single issue with it in my 1.500 hours of playing. Not only that, it suited the SK style perfectly, and the layout? It was perfect! Easy to use, non intrusive, easy on the eyes, and most importantly, it worked!!!

What makes a UI great? Well, for me, not "noticing" it while being able to get all the info I need at any given time. That is not hard to understand. Or is it?

-Health bar: some players were asking to have the % of the health (as far as I know). Why? The old bar was awesome for it's purpose, it just might have been the best I have ever seen in a game! After seeing how it works now, with %.. It's more confusing.. Yes, it is. Health system, picking up hearts, and how it shows on HP bar was done perfectly. Noone, and no argument will ever persuade me to think otherwise. There is no logic in it now.
Then we come to the placing of the bar.. I won't get into that, since some of the posts were clear about how and why it should be on the bottom. Not only that it has nothing to do with personal taste, it is proven that layout like that does not work with human eyes. But hei, I guess every single MMO game so far was doing it wrong eh?

-Shield bar: If you like it, and you actualy find some purpose in it, I feel sorry for you. Why do we have the shield bubble? Why does it change colours? Eh, that is just cosmetic. That does not help us at all to know how our shield is holding up against attacks. Nop, it does not. So far, we used shield and just hoped it won't break. Yep, that is how we survived.. Oh, almost forgot.. why does it jump up and down when using shield? Oh I know.. I do not know when I press shield button, I have to see the bar getting bigger than my HP bar. Yes, that helps. Now I'll be finaly able to play the game! I feel so powerful now!!! And yea, the shield bar lags. Lol.

-Giant picture of my knight: Oooooooooh, that is how I look like? Sweet. Know I know! Yaaaaay! It makes the game look like it's made for little children. If it was smaller, then maybe I could live with it, but being as big as it is? And I have to look at it all the time? Why?! Why do I need that?! In terms of gameplay it does not help, in terms of accessorizing my knight, it does not help. So why? Just to say: "Hei, that is me! Look how beautiful I look! Omg Im so beautiful I can't stop looking at myself!!!". I cannot see any other reason for that giant portrait.

-Heat bar: it actualy does look better IMO. Hey, 1 good thing so far! Yaaaay! Placing is not worth mentioning in this case, since we don't look at it at all (except when giving heat).

-Party members: Ok.. I challenge you, please, tell me one good reason why?! Not only that you don't know who the party leader is, you can't tell who is on the elevator, and you can't even see excatly how much HP they have and can barely notice when they die. I ask you, why? That part of the UI was, again, perfect. I noticed a fellow knight has died in the same second they fell, now I don't. At all.

-Radar: This might be just me, but the old one was easly readable than new one..

-Name of knights/coloring: Again, no reason whatsoever to change that.. It was so awesome before, seeing all the colors while relaxing in Haven.. now everyone is white?! Yes, that is why we have our personal colors. Some will say "I can locate my friends easier now", well, that is a lame excuse. If someone is your friend, you should know that he is standing next to you. Rank? Yes, we can turn it off.. But again, just one good reason why we needed that? If anything, it is only one more thing that is not needed and makes the screen full of ugly letters that don't mean nothing to anyone. Yea, just add more and more stuff on my screen, I want to see everything else except the main thing.. THE GAME ITSELF!!!!

-New placement of buttons: Now this has to be a joke. Buttons are excatly the same, just moved down. And oh, they look like crap comparing it to old ones. Again, some will say "we can hide them now, so they don't bother me while I play.". Like you couldn't just make old ones do that? Noooo, we must move them down, beacuse guess what, that is better. We have to reskin them, beacuse hey, they looked awful before. Wrong. WRONG! They were easy to read, they looked like they are part of the game. And they were on excat spot where a normal person would go look for them. Not anymore.

-New menu look: the colour is awful. As i've said before, I bet that every single Photoshop user (or any other graphical program for that matter, Lol, even MS Paint) could make them a lot better. Community has done some since the patch came out, and guess what! All of them, every single of them, looks better. Not only it is not pleasing on the eyes (like the old ones were), it's.. just.. horrible! Where did you find that blue shade?! Horrible, just horrible.

-Return to Ready room button. What? Go back to ready room? But.. why? Why would I want to go back to ready room? It's called Ready room for a reason. Or am I missing something?

-Weapon wheel: oh yes, the weapon wheel. First of all, it looks awful. It even look worse then the whole new UI does. Not only that, why do we need it? You can change weapons with you mouse wheel. If you don't know how to scroll down/up once, learn to use the mouse. If you can't press whatever button you have assigned (usualy 1,2,3,4), learn to use the keyboard. But some will say "hei, now I know what weapon I equipped during intense battle!" Guess what? You only have 2 or maybe 3 weapons (some have 4, but not many IMO), and you can't even remeber what and where they are?! How is that even possible? Oh, nevermind, some players just can't use their heads while playing a game.. Which seems to be a reason for this new UI?

-New vials/block graphics/VITAs: One word- PUKE! Not only I can't tell them apart, they don't fit in the game at all! Pills look like a giant SK dildo, vials look they were brought in from some other old school Sega game. Yea, it blends together really nicly. If you wanted to update the look of SK, you missed it by a mile. Hell, 100miles. Again, everyone who knows how to use Photoshop could do a better job in 10min. Community has proven that. Block graphics? Yea, they also blend right in. My toilet piping that is. Vitas? Can't drop em? Yep, teamplay is gone from this game. Nice job.

-Monster HP bar: sigh, again with all the noobish reason why we need it.. I can now know what monster to attack first! I know how to prioritize them! You needed that to figure it out? What, seriously WHAT, have you been doing so far? Crying in the corner hoping teammates will do the work for you? Some of you can't even do teamwork since you didn't know what enemies to attack to help your teammates (taken from a post burried somewhere in this topic)! O. M. G. And not just that, that ruined the purpose of the game completly. It was all about going in deep, never knowing what will you find or how will it end.. But now, hei, he only has 1% of HP, lets revive with CE and go on! Is that really more fun that not knowing what is coming? Not knowing what your adventure might end? So where is the point of the game now? Just slaying everything you find not even caring for what you are doing? As long that you kill everyone, as long as you win at the end. That is the whole purpose of playing. Well, gues what, it's not. Yes, I can't turn it off. Yes, you can see enemies on your Radar. Turning it off won't change the fact that the game didn't use monster HP bars for a reason all this time. Radar? Oh, im sorry, I didn't know you could acctualy use your knight to walk around and find enemies. Yes, we have to use the radar.

-Hidding CE/CR/Mist: As I see it, everything that this update changed was made to help the noobs (not to newcomers, but to people who acctualy don't know how to play, and can't even think for a minute about what they are doing), or, to spend more CE. Intentionaly, when you die and see the boss having only 1% of HP, or by accident, going on the Ele without knowing how much CE or Mist you have. And yea, not being able to tell when teammate has died, that will make him rev, beacuse really, who would want to wait 5min before someone notices he's dead (FSC d25 for example)?! Beeing forced to look left up for HP? Yep, another death and spent CE. Weapon wheel? Yep, covers up the enemy on my right and causes him to have and open strike on me. And it only shows 2 weapons.

Bottom line.. almost everything about this new UI is worse. Im sure I didn't cover everything, but there is no need really. It's quite obvious that OOO has made a bad decision, in every aspect. But hei, all you noobs, who can't think for a second with your head, I do hope you will like it, and you will be able to be even more bad ass in this game now! And don't forget, it's not about teamplay, it's not about venturing into unknown, not knowing how and where will it end, it's all bout being the badest, the most powerful knight out there! Yea, that is what SK has turned into. Noob fest, game for little children, and as said before, into Hello Kitty game. You could just make small adjustments to the old UI and make it better. It would have been faster and easier.

Im an older player, and I look for challenge, I look for something different in a game, SK was just that. Was. Sure, I could forget about this, gave OOO some time to fix it, but you know what? After all this time, after all the ignoring of the community from OOO.. This is a step too far.

Oh.. And happy birthday! Lol. No, not really. You are so lazy you couldn't even add another candle on the cake! Seriously?

Ill never forget how my first

Ill never forget how my first shadow lair experience was. It was so intense and not knowing when each enemy or boss would die really added so much to the tension. the relief i got after killing snarbo was the best feeling i had ever. this was all the result because there were no healthbars. that'll be forever gone now. the reason my love for the franchise grew from regular to a great amount was the sheer amount of brilliance that the shadow lair experience was. it showed the game's true potential

but OOO really doesnt understand its own game anymore. they lost the passion and it became regular paycheck work is the idea im getting. not gonna lie OOO, But im having a hard time letting go despite not playing anymore. i guess this is why people say love and hate are very close to each other. cuz strangely enough(and i have no control over this) i really hate u guys now

being a segafan has been 1 dissapointment to the other. pso became a joke, now spiral decided to join the bandwagon. well no more. from now on i dont care anymore. screw sonic, screw pso, screw spiral knights and screw sega.

you dont owe me anything OOO, but i regret the little amount of money i dropped as support. i also regret all the good things id tell others about this game and succesfully convincing friends to play.

erm.

health bars or not, you could just go on youtube and see how many hits did it take to them. build a strategy based on what you saw. and know the boss, which practically removes the tension.
what do we need? new rules. with what we have, the game is easy as going from the bazaar to the garrison. take out something in difficult stages, like the minimap in the unknown passage. that will get things funnier quite a bit.

UI flaw with CE/mist

I was thinking about it and realized something. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this already (someone probably has), but you know how newcomers have little idea on how ce and mist works? With the old ui, you could try to make this connection of using mist to go down elevators. With the new ui, it would be harder for newcomers to correlate the two since it's out of sight.

You go down an elevator, you don't know if you're using mist. Or CE. Or both. Or even what those are yet. You don't know that it takes 13 minutes to regenerate mist. Unless you feel compelled to check your inventory every time, but most people would probably skip it or forget.

Trying to make the users unconscious of their mist/ce by hiding it will only make it more conscious for the users, because they really depend on it to progress. If you suddenly go on an elevator and right there just realize you have no mist left, you will blame the game because you did not see that coming. Nobody wants to suddenly stop playing because they didn't realize they were out of energy. They want to be conscious so they'll never have to come across that you "You do not have enough energy."

I'd also like to suggest wider health bars. I feel like a ridiculous chunk should just vanish when I slash something with damage Maximum!

Yep. And conclusion here is, it's done like that so more people will buy CE with real money. Well, at least newcomers. Any knight of the "old guard" would just say **** this! And quit.

It's the only explanation I can think of and im quite sure it's the only one as well.

Something else about the hiding mist

Because of the confusion it might cause to new players, they could run out of mist and have no idea why, because they never get to see the energy meter. Then they go "whut is dis dis gaem is [redacted]" and leave.

Can we get any kind of

Can we get any kind of response in here? This goes beyond a work in progress, this is a clear regression in game design. Are we just supposed to sit on this turd? Why would OOO do something so crazy in the first place?

I find it difficult to believe this update was even made by the normal spiral knights team.

Like, you had to have been making the original ui and learned over time
'oh we should put the health bar center middle where it's easiest to see,' or
'oh it's difficult to measure exact pips once your health gets to a certain size so lets mark off groups of 5 pips,' or
'oh health pills and remedy pills should be different shapes as well as different colors to make them more readily identifiable,' or
'oh the mist tank is an important feature to understanding and using the game's systems lets tie it into the tutorial area and even the lore so we have a clear on-screen representation and player attachment,' or
'oh hey isn't it great these vials don't look like clipart from 1996? Good job us.'

Now, if we get cursed, it's impossible to tell if our current weapon is cursed or not without switching weapons. Nothing big, but it's still another information hidden for no reason.

I don't remeber who and where said it, but somone complained about this issues before. Well, in that case, he said: "if I walk over fire or get freezed, I can't see the status icon, it's too small!". Um.. What? You are on fire and you need an icon to show that? Your knight being on fire is not enough? You are freezed, you can't move.. But hei, you need an icon for that? O. M. G.

Tho yes, I agree about curse. I haven't tried it, since I stoped playing, but that is a status that should be shown at all times (over your head and in the weapons "hub"). But hey, just another "stupid" decision in this update.. That makes it.. about 1000 overall? Sigh..

So you are saying that it is unreasonable to be able to see how long you will be on fire for? Or be frozen, shocked, stunned or poisoned?

No, of course it's unreasonable. You'll just have to look to the top left of your screen and see. . .

Oh, look at that, you just took your eyes off of your character and he's lying dead on the floor.

Tablet??

Interestingly, Eury is the Community Manager over on Puzzle Pirates, and on April 4th, started a forum thread showing off a new UI which is being developed because they are releasing that game on iPad this summer. Sega has announced the game is also going out on Android.

http://forums.puzzlepirates.com/community/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=191695
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/03/27/gdc-2013-sega-announces-puzzle-p...

The new interface will be applied to the PC version of the game AFTER the tablet release.
The PP thread has over 100 responses which for the most part - mirror a lot of the same things that we said here, when we saw the initial screen shots of the new UI and then restated in this thread.

I can say as an old time PP player, I don't love what I'm seeing there either - but - can rationalize the rearrangement to make it fit on a tablet sized display.

The whole new interface here - feels like it has been rearranged for tablet or touch screen based display.

So - fair question for OOO - any plans for tablet release / support? The answer may throw a little water on this particular fire.

display resolutions

since my thread was locked i'll post go on and another insight here if not already mentioned.

i think the some of the players who doesn't like the new UI update are players who don't have monitors that can display 1920x1080 resolution, or wider monitors (this could explain why some players complain about LD saying that it's way to cluttered e.g. - chatbox, player list roster, and timer blocking booster gauge.)

some of these players may only have access to 1024 x XXX - XXXX

or preference players who love playing SK in 1024 x XXX - XXXX in general.

this new UI will work best for those who have 1920x1080

keep in mind that everyone does not have the luxury to go and bust out a new monitor on their desk.

if you are going to deploy a new UI, make sure it will target both low and high resolution end users.

Not really

High resolutions have the opposite problem. Besides the obvious glaring big circles that show you how bad the HP placement is, look how small all the menus and minimap are! (This is at 1920x1200)

I think i could knuckle down and possibly even enjoy the new UI if it wasn't for the unhelpful position of the health bar and a (unnecessary?) shield bar that spans half my screen.

What's this fuss about?

Well, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I actually enjoy this new UI and all the changes made are a great addition to the game.

To begin, I have played this game since it came out. I have played this game sparingly since, having logged more than 300 hours into it. I have a lot of equipment; I am far from, however, obtaining every item. I have a very vast knowledge on the game's battle mechanics and tactics. I have spent ludicrous amounts of money in this game to support the team (over $100). In the end, I play it every now and then because the game makes me happy lol. Of course I play many other games, but this one is nice on the side. Anyway, here's my review of most the changes.

The UI - I think it's quite nice. Everything is much more simplified and clean. I like all the new graphics implemented in it as well. The portrait adds character to the game. People work so hard for their equipment, so why not revel in the glory that is your character's image? The buttons are smaller and more "minimal." The color is great. The "Advance/End" screens at the end of stages are pretty epic. The new graphics for vials/consumables are cool. The side menu for options in an instance is also a god-send. I just wish I could see my crowns/ME/CE without having to go into the inventory all the time. Oh yeah, vitapod drop - that should definitely be put back as I sometimes accidentally pick up ones when a party member would benefit from it more. I don't want to keep reviving the noobies :/
Overall - A lot cleaner and streamlined.

Health and Shield bar - Though others may hate it, I do not. I actually love this. Again, it adds character to the game and gives a clearer visual to life/shield health. I often would get confused with the previous health bars. The health percentage cannot get any simpler when it comes to displaying info on current health. I do not understand how some people can say a percentage is confusing. God knows. Lastly, the shield health is TREMENDOUSLY helpful. Before the shield bubble color sufficed, but you couldn't really determine how much exact damage you could take. Now I can precisely determine how much I block and create better tactical decisions when dealing with enemies. And the best thing? Much less lag than before when browsing through the menus.
Overall - Clearly defines health and shields.

The Party Menu - This is a nice addition. I find it easier to identify which character is which. I can also see how much health someone has exactly compared to before. Only problem is, I cannot tell who the host is. Nor can I see who is on an elevator (unless I am missing something?).
Overall - Much better looking that the previous, but can use a little more information.

Heat Bar - No problems here, I like it.

Radar - It works, but I feel the icons are too big.

Names - This is a huge one for me. In case you were wondering, I actually LOVE THIS CHANGE. The overall "white" on the map keeps it clean. I really hated seeing all those colors mashed into the map. All the different colors for names on screen confused me every now and then as well. As far as personal colors, I just look at their characters. Works for me.
Overall - Awesome.

Return to Ready Room - GREAT! This is a lovely change. Thank you for making this. I always liked just returning to the Ready Room. It is a good way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Marketplace. Sometimes I would just get annoyed with all the kids ranting and being obnoxious shouting and chatting up storms; this is the perfect answer to that. Nice and quiet. Best thing about the ready room compared to Marketplace Haven? Shorter load times. Yep, that's what I like (I have an SSD and the Marketplace still takes much longer to load than the Ready Room).
Overall - It is a perfect addition to the game.

Weapon Wheel - Again, another great addition. Obviously scrolling worked before and also pressing numbers, but this is a visual cue that I find helpful. A lot of times before I'd forget which way I'd need to scroll to get to a certain weapon faster; this helps tremendously with that. Now I can remember which way I need to scroll/switch because of the visual cues (I am a very, very visual person).
Overall - Very dandy.

Monster Bar/Health - This. This is amazing. I already memorized all weaknesses/damage for every enemy type, but this is very handy. Again, this adds character to the game - it makes it feel more futuristic, just the way I imagined the game should be. The health bars above the enemies' heads is also fantastic. Like i mentioned previously, it helps me make informed tactical decisions in combat. Which enemies are priority? How many swings should I take before I block? When should I fall back? Etc. This is awesome.
Overall - Very helpful for both noobs and experienced players.

The Critics - I really do not know why the hate for everything. I feel as though none of this player base is mature enough to understand the changes and make accept anything. Everyone is so against everything. I attend a university for media arts/animation & game art/design so I know (to an extent) why things were done. Compared to all the other games I've played (which is MANY), the player base in their forums are much more accepting and glad with whatever changes devs make as radical they may be. Keep an open mind; the devs did this for a reason. I mean if you think about it, the game hasn't changed at all, just its outer shell. In the end, all of these changes will be accepted and loved, though it will take time for those who complain more than others. Remember, the devs are the ones who control the game and have a set image that they would like to pursue when creating content/make any changes. The players are the backseat drivers, and they are not always right when it comes to what "needs to be done/changed." Of course, devs can mess it up for everyone, so there has to be a happy medium. Then again, much of this player base is filled with 12-16 year-olds. -_-
Overall - Keep and open mind and just suck it up.

Conclusion - All of the changes are very welcomed on my end. I feel OOO has made the right decision and is heading in the right direction. Everything done has made the game more modern, making it feel more streamlined and refreshing. All of the nerfs, tidbits, displays, etc, are there to help noobs and pros alike giving noobs information regarding enemies and experienced players an outlet to be more efficient in combat. These are all great additions. There are definitely some flaws to the new UI, but those can easily be remedied by a group of experienced devs. For all its worth, the devs should probably bring in an option for those who want the old UI.

If there was any suggestion from me, it would be to start adding more content and equipment.
Other than that, keep doing your thing, OOO

I will now pick your post apart because I disagree with you.

"People work so hard for their equipment, so why not revel in the glory that is your character's image?"
Because:
-It takes up space that is much better used for seeing the enemies hiding behind it
-We already have a full view of our knight, since the game has an isometric camera (now with zoom!).

"The "Advance/End" screens at the end of stages are pretty epic."
¬.¬

"and gives a clearer visual to life/shield health. "
"you couldn't really determine how much exact damage you could take. Now I can precisely determine how much I block and create better tactical decisions when dealing with enemies."

Clearer is debatable, since you can't count the bars easily. And well, really, it's in the wrong place. That's my main problem with the HP. As for the shield bar, how is it that you can't tell exactly how many hits it's going to take to break your shield from the color? You know what color it breaks at, you know what color is full, you know how many are in between, and you know what one attack from any given monster will bring it down to just as well as you will know how far it brings the bar down. You could argue that it's simply easier, before you learn the shield colors, but there's also the glaring problem that shielding minimizes your HP and spamming the shield key is distracting because of the moving shield/HP bars.

"I can also see how much health someone has exactly compared to before. "
Explain how you can tell who has the most health when you have no numerical values, and a bar that stays the same size no matter how much max HP you have? Sure you could look at the armor of the teammates, try to remember if they have a vitapod, or if they're wearing a costume, then do a quick estimate based on the rough percentages of how much is left... but by then either they'll have died anyway, or you'll have died because you spent too much time concentrating on that rather than the monster in your face. HP doesn't really matter too much over 20 bars, and it was definitely more useful to see exactly how many bars someone else had, in case you wanted to drop them a health pill, rush to their aid, or give them the big vitapod you just picked up. Oh wait. ¬.¬
(You also can't see who is tabbed, or who is dead vs who is in sonic mode and living with 0%HP.)

Names - That's your opinion. I, for one, like bright colors. :3

Weapon Wheel - Don't tell me you didn't notice how it covers the most important part of the screen. >_>

Monster HP info thingy - Yeah it's cool, but it only works if you have autotarget on and again it's in that part of the screen you have to tear your eyes away from the character to look at. Not the biggest problem, though. I'm neutral on this one. The floating bars are definitely good though.

"it makes it feel more futuristic, just the way I imagined the game should be."
I think a lot of people think differently on this one, what with all the giant gears everywhere. It seems more steampunk-y than futuristic. Except with less brown.

@The critics part - I'll just repeat what I've said before, many times now. I like change. Change is good. Change means progress. I don't like change, when it makes the game fundamentally harder to play at high levels. And it's not because the monsters got harder, it's because the vital parts of the interface are no longer centralized like they should be, and have been in ARPGs for a long time. Since Diablo I and probably before.
And also:

"Then again, much of this player base is filled with 12-16 year-olds. -_-"
Are you saying there's something wrong with every 12-16 year-old? D:<

"just suck it up."
This I wholly disagree with. We are the players, and while we aren't entitled to anything, they put this forum here for a reason. So I, at least, will continue to post on these forums to try to improve my and others' play experiences any way I can. There's no reason for us to just "accept" an update, and just stand by quietly, when we see large flaws in it. I'm ok with OOO changing the course of their game to an extent, but I don't want to stand by and watch as it heads steaming down the track towards the cliff with no visible intention of stopping.

Okay, Klipik, you win. everyone except OOO can go home now. OOO, you have homework to do. I personally recommend you /listen/ to what everyone says. Please go fix what Klipik has pointed out, for the love of snipes. Please, I beg you! T^T

As I expected it, 000 will

As I expected it, 000 will not communicate despite the massive rant we had going on, and they won't change even the slightest of the new UI. Common sense tells me it is a bad idea to go against half of your player base on multiple times, and keep silent over it.

Either communicate with valid arguments about that undesired change, because really I still can't figure out why you would do that update, or listen to the critics made so far and revert as soon as possible. With the old UI, everyone was happy, some of us wanted a monster hp bar that you could have added without ruining the interface altogether, now with this silly update, you made most of us angry...But you won't have the decency to admit you made a mistake, I've been playing for two years, and you never went back on a heavily disputed update, never. Stubborn as it can get. Probably one of the worst company when it comes to communication.

Well I wouldn't go quite that far...

For one, OOO is not the worst-communicating company, or even just gaming company, by any means. Second, 600 players is nowhere near half their player base. That's less than half of the average peak active (concurrent) players at any given time on steam alone. On top of that, many people(myself included) posted more than once or even twice.

But I do agree with you, at least an explanation for the changes after this huge player backlash would be nice. Shed some light on why things happened like they did.

Well, you know very well a

Well, a lot of active players never post on the forums, so hundreds of complaints just on the forums is quite huge. Pretty sure half was even underestimated.

I see no problem with your answers :)

@Klipik

I whole heartedly respect everything you have posted against each of my points. And the best part about it? There was no animosity whatsoever.

But yeah, I really don't have anything to say. You make great points and I agree with a lot of the problems you identify, though I may like them. Like you said, we are all entitled to our opinions.

Anyway rather than retyping a long response, I'll just quote the things I liked.

Portrait section: "..takes up space that is much better used for seeing the enemies.."

Health/Shield: "..really, it's in the wrong place.."

Party: "..it was definitely more useful to see exactly how many bars someone else had.."
You got me there, actually. I don't know what I was thinking lol, I am really used to looking at a single health bar and estimate. Must be some math thing I'm calculating/estimating.

Colors: "..That's your opinion. I, for one, like bright colors. :3.."
Haha, I like this. I am very minimalist, especially my art. Guess I'm really different from the majority D:

Weapon Wheel: "..it covers the most important part of the screen.."
Yeah, but it doesn't bother me much. Idk hah.

Monster HP Thingy: "..you have to tear your eyes away from the character to look at.."
That actually has been a problem for me lately. I've been playing more and that travel distance is quite annoying. However, any movement could cover more "important" sections of the screen, sadly :(

"..The floating bars are definitely good though.."

Theme: "..It seems more steampunk-y than futuristic.."
My bad, meant to say a mixture - a future steampunk if that makes sense.

Critics: "..the vital parts of the interface are no longer centralized like they should be.."
Yes. Modern UI design for new software allows the user's eye to "travel" all over the screen to make use of every inch of a given display. I feel OOO tried to implement this aspect in the game to try and modernize it which in turn became quite problematic.

"..Are you saying there's something wrong with every 12-16 year-old? D:< .."
Nothing's wrong with 12-16 year-olds. The only problem is many are uninformed. That's the thing that irks me. Also, many adolescents are hightened emotionally (due to the physiological and anatomical growth of the brain, specifically frontal lobe) and could be fueling into the anger towards the devs.

"..to improve my and others' play experiences any way I can. There's no reason for us to just "accept" an update, and just stand by quietly, when we see large flaws in it.."
Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to suck it up to the point where no one says anything. I'm just saying a few things here and there are fine and not bash every single thing saying everything is a complete failure; there is still good in this update. I absolutely 100% agree to voice your concerns and be proactive in any community. Again I apologize for not being clear. I never mean anything to their extremes :p

Last note: I understand that not everyone likes this update. I personally do like it quite a bit. I voiced why I liked it; everyone else either does the same or the opposite. However, one thing I noticed is the sheer amount of disrespect many angry customers have toward the devs. I do know what kind of work they go through and how difficult it is to keep up with everything, so I try not to give them such a hard time. The amount of animosity toward the devs was what spurred me on to say something in the first place.

Anyway I agree with most everything you say. I like all of the changes; however, the new UI causes too many visibility problems which seems to be the main issue. I, too, do not want to see this game go down the drain as I do enjoy it a lot.

Without taking into

Without taking into consideration usability issues, the production values of the ui are awful, all my hate to it comes from how awful looking "art" the ui got, compared to the previous one that was pretty for the most part. So get an artist to choose better colors/settings and many complaints would fade (in case its being rendered using "java" directly and not drawing custom art)

I absolutely don't understand

I absolutely don't understand this update. Why should the vitapods not be droppable? And why did you remake an UI that is already perfect imo? I also don't get why the names shouldn't have colours. Absolutely useless update that made the game much worse. Make at least an option to get the old UI back!

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

@Nobuhiro

I asked Three Rings' support via email about the undroppable vitapods.

They said it was because dropping the vitapods accidentally was causing devastating things to happen to newer players.

Kill confirmed

Okay, it is confirmed.
The shield meter is a load of arse.
I have been hit about 4-5 times in very quick succession by T3 devilites, result: shield broken and got killed. Right as my tumbling death animation ended the shield meter HAD NOT budged an inch. Fact is that it is so slow that (as I had predicted in my previous post; pg.8) I was shield-broken and killed before the animation even started for the first two hits.
Sadly I wasn't quick enough on the screenshot-hotkey (f12 is quite a distance from WASD) so I don't have immediate visual proof, though I may replicate said situation just for the sake of it.
Also, with that Update, did you by any chance lower the invincibility-time after getting hits (either shield or direct DMG)? Espcecially with gremlins and devilites but also with slimes I've gotten quite some kicking, which certainly didn't happen pre-update...
