I can introduce your character like that again. So can I have permission to do that? :)
After Cradle (roleplay discussion thread)(Pact of the Monocled Chromalisk)
Oh. You've already introduced your character how I wanted her to. How coincidental. :)
Hope you're okay with me stepping in like that, I've got to have an opportunity for Axis to "introduce" himself to the group.
Besides that mistake I made (you never saw it, did you?) I also wanted to point out...
You might want to say:
"The Necron appeared annoyed."
After all you can't make the Necron annoyed, that's up to the other player to decide. Yes, it's a very minute form of power-play, but it bugs me after a while.
@Everyone
You know, dividing info into paragraphs won't make my eyes bleed. Your paragraphs might actually look good if you spaced out dialogue and separate events.
Same mistake I made. Thin actually made the conversation, Ultima just used it in his post.
Shouldn't Gzilla be starting the attack? After all, he's the big villain, so shouldn't he be the one who tells when the Swarm gets here?
Dmatter sorta took that out of my hands when he said the swarm was attacking, so I just went along with it.
Alright, Ultima. Next time, just be your own character. This is already getting too confusing XD
How come all the characters can tell what Gwen is up to, and are immune to it? 1) She is unusually beautiful, 2) heroically saved, 3) and shows remorse over it. Why is everyone ignoring it?? If I hadn't written about her thoughts, would you guys have treated her differently?
Thomas, for one, isn't a player, and acts logically. I mean, after you killed people in someone's defense, the only thanks you get is "can I not pay you pwetty please?"? Sho, yeah. Thomas isn't phazed by that XD
Not sure about the other people though.
But yeah, I might throw in a bit of Thomas's thoughts (nobody should read his face if his helm's covering him, right?)
Axis is a swarm created entity so don't expect him to feel anything :P.
She was unaware that he expected some kind of repayment until he told her about it. She's not omniscient (though she's pretty darn close). I was typing up a response where she offered to settle the issue until I found out how many other posts had been made in the meantime. xD
And yeah, the story is getting kinda jumbled. Imagine how bad it would have been if it were mixed with out-of-character posts. O.o
Added some inner thoughts to Thomas. At least he's hesitating XD
Like how The Master was introduced. I guess we'll have to wait for the others to post and react to this change of events.
Thanks. I like how Gzilla introduced himself to the heroes. It displays excellent use of the classic villainous phrase "you're not going anywhere."
@Immortous: the way you portray Tenebris is totally unique. I'm already a big fan of him. :D
@everyone: I'd love to give individualized commentary, but there's too many posts to look at. xD Suffice it to say that everyone wrote very well.
Hey guys. I'll be posting later on. I won't be in action for a long time...... Still in thy hospital.
Aww, EVERYTHING was posted while I slept! But before I post:
Gzilla # 101: I was, I was just waiting for the attack to begin before my explosion of distracions. :l
Gzilla # 111: I never said the swarm was attacking. or at least I didn't say it first.
Can you guys try not to advance the plot too much while I'm at school? I mean, you guys can fight swarm and chase after Gzilla/Axis and the master and that kind of stuff, just try not to finish the attack while I'm at school so I can post, K?
K I'm back. posting now. Edit: Oh and FYI my guy's 5* winmillion is called the spryllion (sprill-e-ion is about how you pronounce it.).
Wait, I think the only characters that should know who The Master and Axis really are, are The Master and Axis (Self explanatory) Gwen (Being part of the core) and Athena (Because of her being a valkyrie)
If your character is only a knight that hasn't even been infected by the swarm yet, I don't think The Master would reveal his identity, same with Axis, because you could rebel.
Could you control the Master to attack Nathaniel now? Because I don't want to powerplay your character to do that. :P
So is the Master going to, perhaps, mysteriously vanish in the midst of battle? Then Axis would have already left because the Master would tell him that they would leave in the midst of battle. If the Master doesn't tell Axis, then Axis will be interrogated by our group. And since the Master left, that would give time for the group to get to know each other better, and find out who the mysterious crashlanding person(Athena) is. I'm just guessing. :P Is that what you have in store? Or is it something better? :D I can't wait.
Judging from the group only Nate and the Necron would actually last against Axis. (whoops thinking about past RP's)
I think you mean 'Nathaniel and the Necron', since there's no Jason in the story. And yes, I do think that the others wouldn't last very long, but since we have Nathaniel and the Necron(and perhaps Athena), we'd probably be able to subdue Axis and interrogate him, though I doubt we'd actually get information out of him. :P
First off, who said the Master was leaving the battle? I mean, he might, but I didn't say so. But whether he leaves or not, he won't be fighting Nathaniel, nor did he even intend to. Remember, he's a very devious mastermind, and is rarely so straightforward.
Secondly, even if he leaves, it doesn't imply that Axis must too.
I was just guessing. I never said that the Master actually wanted to do something, nor did I say that Axis must leave too.
So could you post something about what the Master is doing in the story thread? :D
@Gzilla Oh, didn't think of that. Well, I didn't post anything about it in the story thread, so no harm done.
An Idea
Alright. I've made a post about how Nathaniel kinda gives in to the Chaos(Chaos>Darkness), and shoots a concentrated chaos sphere on the ground below the Master's barrier.
So here's the idea. The Master's barrier gets destroyed in the process, and the Master himself gets injured, but Nathaniel falls unconscious, and everyone close to the sphere dies. Everyone else, though, is badly injured, including Nathaniel. Haven's in ruins. The Master gets out of Haven quickly while the others are left to heal themselves. The Master starts wondering how Nathaniel gained access to such power. Athena will probably try to kill Nathaniel while he is unconscious, but the others will stop her from doing so. Once Nathaniel wakes up, he wil find Athena with the others, but won't know Athena's name. Athena converses with Nathaniel and Nathaniel soon befriends Athena.
That's all I've got for now.
It's a bit too early in the story for the main villain to be defeated, even partially. The point of the Master's arrival was to illustrate the current hopelessness of facing him, in order to make his demise at the heroes' hands that much more exhilarating and impressive. If his barrier is broken now, then his later defeat won't mean much.
OOOOHHH. Okay then. So could you make him mysteriously teleport away right after the sphere was shot? Then I wouldn't have to like, edit half my post. :P
Ultimate, can you just NOT post anything you're unsure about? At least wait for our approval, instead of rushing to give out story parts we didn't even agree on.
I do have plans for the Master to teleport away, but he was supposed to do that after Nathaniel failed to break the barrier. The Master is toying with him, and wants to see his reaction before leaving. You'll have to edit the part about the barrier breaking.
The barrier requires more strength to break than Nathaniel can ever hope to obtain. He will need to rely on the strength of others, in addition to his own. That's where the teamwork comes in; problem is, with everyone fighting doppelgangers of themselves, the trust necessary to build such a team is not likely to form.
It's 'Ultima', by the way. Not 'Ultimate'. :) And yeah. I guess I'm a little too impatient to wait for story additions. :P
Speaking of it seems that you ignored the swarm copies that were fighting you guys. Seriously this is getting confusing.
Where did the Master obtain such power? Just curious. :)
@Gzilla
The swarm copies will be created later, I think.
I totally understand that. It's the main reason power plays were so prevalent in Return to Cradle - we didn't want to wait for others to write about how their characters reacted.
Still, we are trying to minimize the power playing. I won't pretend to be immune to it - some of the stuff I'm writing up comes pretty darn close to power playing. I will trip up on it one of these days. It's too easy to do, and we gotta be on our guard to keep it out.
Breaking the Master's crystal was a power play.
One way to avoid power playing is to focus on writing about what your character attempts to do. Like, "Nathaniel shot a Chaos sphere at the Master's barrier, intending to break it." Now, if I read your bit correctly, the sphere was shot more by accident than intention, but you get the drift, right? :)
I thought we were holding off on all attacks/plots to destroy each other to work on introducing the characters?
